I hope you find the following comical as it is ridiculous. I applied to this school to pursue an MFT degree in CA. I'm an attorney seeking a mid-life career change for health reasons. I just needed an efficient and flexible way to meet licensing requirements and prestige or name recognition wasn't that important to me because I already have that on my resume. I was accepted and spoke to an enrollment staff member Kim Strickler. I had only two conversations with her. During those conversations, she (1) said things like, "I answered your question," when I asked for clarification because she *hadn't* answered my question; (2) interrupted me repeatedly, and, when I asked her to allow me to finish speaking, interrupted me *four more times* in quick succession; (3) told me that my questions were "unhelpful, unproductive, inefficient," and that I was "fixating" on things; and (4) proceeded to repeated *no less than six times* her opinion that my questions were unhelpful, unproductive, and inefficient and would not stop repeating that until I started recording the call, which is when she finally hung up. Oh, before it got really bad, I asked her to transfer me to someone else or have someone else talk to me. She refused multiple times. She also said there wasn't anyone else I could talk to, said there was no way to file a grievance or escalate this matter. She also said more than once that she was the head of "this entire department," in order to intimidate me into not complaining. She obviously knew she wasn't behaving well, lol. I found the appropriate grievance escalation channel on my own (because there obviously is one), and sent a written complaint. The school's response was, in summary, "Kim did everything professionally. We think your threat to file a complaint was escalating. This matter is closed." I have the emails, if anyone's interested. Classic "avoid liability and accountability," which I guess isn't surprising but it is disappointing. They also included a veiled threat to sic their lawyers on me, supposedly because my signature block included the name of my law firm, which doesn't make sense since all of my correspondence has my firm in the signature block. That part made me laugh. I'm single-handedly prosecuting my family's claims against Mercury Insurance for bad faith conduct after the Eaton fires. I'm not afraid of some online university no one's even heard of. That said, I can't associate myself with a university whose management level staff can't emulate basic maturity... Anonymity is OK; embarrassing and infantile is not. I withdrew immediately and will be seeking a doctoral degree at ********** instead. Looking forward to it very much. Happy to discuss if you are interested in ways to protect yourself if you run into this issue and have to talk to Kim. Hopefully you've never encountered someone who is this defensive, threatened by anyone who doesn't cower from her, obsessed with dominance and control even if it means acting like a 6-year-old having a full blown tantrum, dismissive and then accusatory when that doesn't work, unable to respect reasonable boundaries whatsoever, and absolutely allergic to accountability, which is in turn reinforced by the institution. I know a few people like this, but usually they are men. Not everyone has a lot of options, I understand, and you might be stuck with TUW. Let me know if you'd like advice on this. Just finished my first course in the online Marriage and Family Therapy master's program at Touro University Worldwide (TUW), which I genuinely enjoyed. What stood out to me the most wasn't just the course content (which was great), but how incredibly responsive and supportive everyone at TUW has been. Online programs can sometimes feel distant or disconnected, but TUW isn't like that at all. From the start, everyone--from my enrollment counselor to my professor, academic advisor, help desk, even the bursar's office-- have all replied to questions right away. No long waits or getting passed around. They show up and help. What really surprised me was the sense of emotional presence. Toward the end of the course as final assignments crept up, the Provost sent out a heartfelt message wishing everyone luck--it's a small gesture, but it made me feel supported. I am enrolled in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I would give negative stars if it were possible to do so. The professors range from excellent to mediocre - some seem to genuinely care, others seem to be calling it in. The academic rigor is nowhere near what I experienced in my first Master's in another area. All of that is tolerable. However, the nightmare begins when an MFT nears and goes through practicum. The guidelines regarding recording therapy hours for graduation vary depending upon which official document you read (and locate ... the documents are not centralized). Further, the administration references a back up "self-study" for their changing and varied.policies but will not provide said document to students. Run... saving a little money with Touro's.low tuition is not at all worth it. read more

Awesome school. Great and helpful staff. Professors are knowledgeable and the courses were just the right amount of challenging with some being slightly more than expected. However, it helped me gain confidence on my field and experience as a practitioner. It is military friendly and offers a great variety of scholarships and grants. They offered me many scholarships when I was too shy to even ask. I was only shy because I know that last year was rough for a lot of people and I didn't wanna be greedy but they encouraged me to accept the help to pay for my classes. Overall I recommend this school. It is not easy and not all professors will be very the easiest but it is a professional school so give it your best. I made great friends by the way. Despite being online most of the time. We were able to connect via social media and text while doing group work. read more

I just completed my MBA at TUW. For my undergrad I went to a traditional school. I did fine TUW easier, mostly bc there was less competition for classes. Once I got use to the structure it was easy to complete the work. I will say, many of the assign reading where not good and when I did find articles to use for my paper they weren't available from the library. read more

Prior to attending Touro, I had never heard of the school, but it came up as an option for me to pursue the MFT clinical degree I wanted and with the right accreditation that my state requires. Despite feeling anxious, Touro fit all the criteria I was looking for and needed. My program was 100% online and offered at a really affordable rate because there aren't face-to-face classes (until you get to practicum). There IS a difference in learning asynchronously at your own pace vs. attending in-person classes where you can speak to teachers immediately. Even so, the Touro staff and my professors have all been very responsive when I've reached out with questions and needed some extra guidance. I've honestly been so impressed with how responsive and professional they have all been. I'm now in the last couple months of my practicum where I've met a handful of other Touro students, and I've never regretted choosing Touro. If you're looking for quality + affordability + flexibility, I think Touro is a great choice. read more

Update: I started TUW in 2019 and just graduated with my MA in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2021, it took two years as expected. Low-Points: TUW's list of practicum options in my area was weak. I had to do a lot of research on my own, applied at 21 places, and even considered changing to a school that had better connections in my city. Ultimately I landed two practicums and loved them, gained 1000 hours pre-graduation which is a lot. Another challenge was dealing with the impact of Covid on practicum sites. Many of my classmates struggled to obtain hours during 2020 and it didn't seem like TUW did much to help. High-Points: I'm a woman in her 40s, a business owner, with three kids, in the middle of the pandemic. I now have master's degree, only 8% of the population have master's degrees and my children just watched me commit, work hard, graduate, and easily land a job in the field. I learned a ton, cried a fair amount (google: imposter syndrome), made a handful of new friends, and now I am actually being $paid$ to do therapy! I'm working as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) at a great private practice, on the long path to licensure. read more

Great School for Undergraduate degree, about to finish my Bachelors degree from here, professors were kind and I felt like I took as much as I gave in classes. It is definitely more self guided teaching than a traditional sit down classroom, but that worked extremely well for me as I got to work at my pace, and being able to work on discussions from anywhere I had access to the internet. Would highly recommend it to people who are working full time and looking to get a bachelors degree. read more

This university has the worst administration to deal with, they are unhelpful and show no concern about their Students. I am a straight "A" student. There are a few professors who are horrendous, and nothing is done. I have had to go to this extreme. I am just trying to learn. Do not go to TUW no matter what!! I attended this school for 2 semesters (completed 4 courses), pursuing a doctoral degree. The workload was demanding, as expected. But the course content was not even as rigorous as my Masters degree program. I felt like I was churning out papers just to get through the semester and go on to the next one - dutifully paying tuition so I can attain a degree, but not learning anything of substance. In one class there appeared to be only one other person in the class, who never submitted her work until the day it was due, leaving me little time to critique it (which was a course requirement and normal for an online format). The professor actually told me I was late in responding to other students' work -- well there was one other student, and I couldn't respond if she didn't submit her assignments! The library has a lot of material that is inaccessible. The school does not set you up with a school email address -- they use your personal email. I thought that was a bit weird and never saw that before. If you want a quick degree at relatively low cost, this school is for you. But if you want rigorous, challenging curriculum, go elsewhere. read more

I am just about fed up with this fake institution!!! They put you in a virtual "class" with about 2 students and some you're the only one participating. Sometimes there is no one participating until the day your discussion is due. This leads me to believe these are not real students and most likely staff of Touro pretending. This place is a complete scam! Run away run away run away. I signed up for their grad program and was provisionally admitted. That means I was not fully admitted. I was admitted under provisional status because they needed my undergrad transcripts. In the mean time, They told me I could sign up for classes even as a provisional student but I needed to send over my transcripts ASAP. I NEVER SENT THEM ANY TRANSCRIPTS. I never payed tuition or registered for financial aid. I assumed that because I didn't PAY and I didn't send over my PAPERWORK that they would kick me out of my classes. NOPE. THEY DID NOT. I discovered they still kept me in my classes even tho I never paid any tuition or signed up for financial aid. I called on the 5th day of classes beginning and I talked to my counselor about dropping out. He said that since I was dropping out on the 5th day of class I owed $225. Then, 4 days ago I got an email saying I owe $1,500. Now today they changed to $750. They say I owe money because I didn't drop out before the classes began.. So because I was "5 days" late to drop out I now owe them hundreds of dollars??? What kind of "educational system does that??? I wasn't even FULLY ADMITTED! These people are a complete scam. They're not a real educational system. They're a Greedy business! Please run away as soon as possible. read more

This school was one of the best schools I attended, the staff is very helpful and the teachers will help you as long as you reach out to them. I never had any issues, the classes are very manageable as long as you're dedicated and determined to make it happen for yourself, I would go for my doctorate but after 3 years of nonstop school, I need a break lol. I'm just starting my MFT program, so all I can talk about right now is the admissions process. Kim Strickler, the Sr. Dir. of Enrollment Counseling, has been beyond helpful. I've had some issues with getting transcripts from my previous school and she has been positive and been so great helping me navigate that process. Any issue I've had I go straight to her and she gets back to me immediately with the information I need. I can't wait to start my courses - she's allowing me to start with a great attitude. I have gone to three different colleges. I'm in Touro currently working on my Masters and I would HIGHLY recommend this college to working parents. I appreciate the feedback from the professors, the help from the guidance counselor, all the way to the assistance from the financial office. Everyone gets back to me timely. I am a MFT graduate student at Touro Worldwide. This school worked out really well for me; my family moves often due to military service and I was able to take classes in three different locations. Professors are knowledgeable, understanding and supportive. I believe there was only one instructor who was extremely late on giving feedback to the class and engaging in discussions. Great school for me. Being a Manager of Administration for North America largest transportation company, I am proud to be apart of the Touro program earning my MHRM. I will say that the advisor isn't the best at assisting with concerns . However, I generally skip him and go to the next level of leadership who are always available and willing to assist . The program is created with guidelines and great resources which will allow one to be successful to completing the program if followed accordingly . I have never been a fan of online courses and was a little intimidated at first but, am now happy and relieved that I have a grasp on how to utilize the resources provided and the material I have received. I currently attend TUW. Most of the classes are very easy and most teachers don't expect college level answers. However, as a student who has attended a physical in-class college and switched to an online college, I am still inclined to choose an online college (particularly TUW) for these reasons: 1) Although the teachers don't expect college level answers that does not mean you don't have to submit work that took more dedication. What I mean to say is, this college degree is what you make of it. You can choose to submit simple work, or, do more google research, work on your discussions, and submit excellent work. It's all in your hands. If you want to learn, you can. If you don't want to learn much, you can get away with that too. 2) I can work while obtaining my degree. This has been an amazing opportunity for me. I am able to work full time while obtaining a degree. It's vital to have experienced after obtaining a degree so gaining the experience while working for the degree; it's a win-win 3) Teachers are always available via email. I personally loved this aspect of TUW. I was able to communicate with faculty and students 24/7. It's great. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. I have a few more classes to go and I am extremely happy with what I have learned so far. There are some classes that I put more effort into and others that I didn't work as hard.... but that goes for most schools. Best of luck! read more

I have been a student at TUW for almost six months now. There are several things to consider if you are interested in attending this school. First, none of the administrative departments talk to each other so if you have a problem with, say, Financial Aid, you tell your academic advisor who tells you to email the bursar. Once you email the bursar, you wait for two days and the bursar tells you to email financial aid. You email financial aid and after a week they tell you to send in a copy of your unofficial transcripts (which you did when you applied) since FA doesn't want to ask admissions for the transcripts. In the meantime, your AA emails and tells you to register but you can't because the admin departments are still trying to play catch-up with the other departments by using you as the middleman. Sounds confusing, right? Second, the library supposedly has tons of articles available through databases, namely EBSCOHost and Proquest. What TUW doesn't tell you is that you don't have access to quite a few of those articles, even when the search results say Linked Full Text next to the article you want. You will either have to pay for them or email the library, which will tell you to get a library account (which everyone sets up when they become a student). Then the library will tell you to email IT. After some amount of time, IT will tell you to email someone else. Needless to say, you don't get access to your articles. Third, there is no university-based email system. Let me say that again - there is no university email system, so everyone uses their own email to communicate. I have been in a few online schools and every one of them had their own email system. If you want to communicate with others in the class, you can't unless you get them to give you their email address in the discussion boards. I didn't think that the lack of an internal email system would be a big deal, but it is a big hindrance. The classes are mediocre, but at this level I thought formatting would be important. APA format is what most if not all colleges and universities use, but I seem to be the only one who even attempts to format according to APA and no one seems to care. Students blatantly copy entire paragraphs from articles verbatim and paste them in a discussion thread as their own work without being busted for plagiarism. If you want to go to this school, be ready to spend a lot of time dealing with the administrative offices, the lack of access to articles, no internal email system, and low to average quality classes. read more

Touro University Worldwide (TUW) currently is concealing information that its Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) program requires at least two people to complete. I am single, and I am by myself. Thus, I cannot complete this program. No one disclosed this requirement to me before I enrolled in the program. After six weeks into the program, I learned that this program cannot be completed without another person. I asked Kim Strictler (Senior Director of Enrollment Counseling) about this requirement, and she indirectly blamed me for not reading through the syllabus. Nothing in the syllabus said this program requires at least two people. I found out about this requirement when I did the signature assignment. Now that I am enrolled, I am stuck with this school for the Fall semester. I am sure that TUW will not return my money; thus, my money is gone. I have to pay the tuition for nothing because I cannot complete this program. I have to find another school for the next semester. I am writing this to alert future students who are singles and want to enroll in MFT. For students with family, this is not a concern for you. Perhaps, TUW tends to favor students (females especially) in this program. read more
