I was going to put 4 stars just due to the limited parking space. However, it wasn't such a big deal due to the nice surroundings. I came here to get a cake for my mother's birthday but left with many pastries and smoothies. I have to say, you can really taste the freshness and how much care they put into baking. I came here the week it had opened. I tagged along with my friends and ordered a citron tea. When I got my tea back, however, it was something completely different. It was just water and a cheap tea bag, which came up to a total of $3.15. Yes, one tea bag which should cost 15 cents was going for $3.15. When I noticed that I got the wrong tea, I asked the cashier kindly to get the tea I asked for. The cashier, in a rude manner, responded that I was wrong and that the tea given to me was the right one. Even though I was 100% sure I got the wrong item, she refused to give me a refund or get me the right tea. I was infuriated; never have I been to a place that was as rude and unfriendly as tous les jours. The customer service here is atrocious. Ever since this bad experience, I never plan on returning. Instead of this place, I highly recommend going to somewhere else, especially cafe bene or Baskerville. Nice little Korean bakery in Glenview. I visited one of it's branches in Seoul last year and it's very similar. Baked goods are the specialties here and the quality/variety is excellent. The round rice doughnuts and macaroons in particular are truly special! What the heck? Before I ordered, I asked how many shots of espresso were in their small 12oz cafe Americano. They said 2. When I paid and looked at my receipt, they charged me for an extra shot of espresso. Why would they lie at cheat their customers like that? It's only a dollar, but tell the truth, geez. I'd would have just gotten the medium size then. (BTW, the drink came out of a bigger over glorified version of a Keurig machine. It tasted terrible.) They also don't use real fruit in their bean-soo. They used frozen canned syrupy wilted deformed strawberries. Yuck. I decided to give them a try and I know that won't come back here ever again. This little, self-service bakery is a hidden gem in Glenview! The croissants are delicious - perfectly flaky and reminiscent of ones I had in Europe. The coffee is tasty and there is an extensive spread of many different breads and other pastries to try. It's worth a visit if you love baked goods! read more

Very cute but food and drinks didn't turn out to be as good as they looked. Really disappointed in their chai tea. I ordered it with soy milk and literally all I could taste was the milk. I love asian bakeries because it's not drenched in sugar, and the sweetness serves only to enhance the bread. We ordered the milk soft bread, a blueberry cake slice, and regular coffee to wash it down. I really enjoyed the milk soft bread! The bread was actually white and filled with some cream. There aren't a lot of bakeries around Glenview, so I was happy to find this one! There really aren't any good Asian bakeries around unless you go to Chinatown, so it's pretty amazing that there's one, an awesome one, in the suburbs. Some of my favorites: sweet sticky rice "donuts", pumpkin "donuts" (made with sticky rice, chewy and delicious), almond croissants, coffee pastries, egg tarts (when available), macarons and more. If you're like me, you'll want to grab one of everything, but probably can't afford to. There's a lot of items on the menu too: coffee, bubble tea, shaved ice dessert..etc. I've yet to try most of it, it's a tad pricey but it's nice to get a drink, then sit and chat with friends in this cafe. The sit down area is nice and clean, great for an afternoon or evening hangout since they open until 11 p.m. If you're looking to study or concentrate though, this is not the place. There's a lot of people "conversing" loudly at the tables, so it's hard to get anything done. For a quieter ambience, I'd go to Caffe Bene (almost next door) where there's more seating and where people use 3" voices. Other things: service could be more friendly, like with more smiles :) Edit: I just bought their Green Tea Chiffon Cake for a birthday and it was delicious! Light, fluffy and not toothache sweet. I don't think there was enough tea flavor, but the cake was still yummy and I would buy it again. I want to try all of their cake flavors, but they are a tad expensive. I can't believe I haven't written a review yet. I have been here so many times I can't even count. You're probably wondering why it's 2 stars if I go so often. Well, I don't go there anymore. I used to go a bunch just to get bread for my parents but they've even told me to stop going there. There are a few things that are super yum but go early because they're usually gone by late afternoon. The problem I have with this place is that the quality has really gone down since they first opened. So much grease and the taste just isn't as fresh. If you don't believe me, just buy something and squeeze it. I guarantee you, all the grease will ooze out. Don't fall for the overpriced cakes and desserts either. My friend got me a cake once and it looked SO good but when I ate it, I tasted freezer burn. The fruit inside was so gross and looked rotten. Maybe it was an old cake...actually I'm pretty sure it was an old cake. My other problem is that the service is pretty awful. Not from the workers but the woman who I believe is the owner. I went once to get these circle red bean donuts for my mom and when the woman was packing the donuts she literally stuck her finger into them. I asked her to be careful with them and she just replied that she was while continuing to literally stick her finger into all the treats. When I got home, my mom asked me if I had dropped them or something because everything was deformed. So frustrating. If you're looking for a really great bakery...it's Bakersville all the way. read more

One of the better Korean Bakeries in the northern suburbs with a cute and cozy cafe area to sip a latte or read. I love that they have descriptions of the "themes" of pastries-- ie Honey plus... This way there's no guessing game as to what is in the center of that beautifully shaped dough. I liked the sweet potato pancake and the honey filled roll (honey pancake was too sweet).
