Found this hidden gem on Yelp under the hot and new business. Me having the biggest sweet tooth decided to give it a try. I got the s'mores crepe and let me tell you it was amazing. The warm melted chocolate inside and the crunchy graham crackers was just perfect. It was so gooey and yummy definitely recommend this if you're in the mood for something sweet. They have wide variety of crepes. The Peanut Butter and Jelly also looks good will probably be trying that one next time I go. They also have fresh smoothies and different flavors of ice cream. We came here for some impulsive dessert the other night. There are a lot of places called Michoacana around these parts and they are all just a little bit different. This place certainly won't be replacing our usual ice cream spot (the Michoacana on Algonquin near Busse) but unlike there, this location has crepes. The make-your-own crepes are kind of pricey at almost $9 each, but crepes tend to be up there in price generally. My sister and I split a crepe filled with strawberries and mango. The batter was the chocolate-vanilla combo version and we topped it off with la lechera sauce and whipped cream. This was certainly enough to split and satisfied my sweet tooth. I will say that I have had way more impressive crepe batter before (this one registered a bit "stiff" and subdued in flavor) but I could be convinced to come here and split a crepe again. read more

I was craving for some crepes and my friend told me about this place. I've been to the other chains but they don't have crepes! So I was very excited to try this place out. I got myself la Michoacana crepe with a scoop of strawberry cheesecake ice cream. Omg. It is EXTREMELY FILLING and calories overloadddd!!! But no regrets. It was delicious. The ice cream was delicious and the first 3 bites of the crepe definitely satisfied my craving. After that, it was a bit much. Can't do sweets but I'd go again when my craving hits. I would definitely recommend sharing the crepe with another person unless you can handle your sweets. I obviously can't. Couldn't finish mine. Also, as much as I loveeeed the strawberry cheesecake ice cream, I would get a scoop of water based ice cream cz I think it'll balance well with the sweet, filling crepe. Update: I was contacted about my review by Jonathan Medina, who stated he was the owner. In the first paragraph he stated that he was a "former Veteran of the United States Marines". In all honesty, unless being in the Marines is where he learned to make crepes, I'm really not sure how that's relevant to my review. Unless he was trying to play the Patriotic card, which in that case I'd like to thank him for his service. I still stand by my review. I also find it interesting that in his private response to my review, he mentioned that he has no affiliation with any of the other Michoacana ice cream shops, so I guess that good comment I made about liking other locations, is irrelevant. I applaud the owner for suddenly listing prices on a business that's been open for a while. The night we were in there we were told it would be a few weeks. Also, all these other wonderful options he's mentioning in his public response were not offered in person. As a matter fact I specifically asked if I could get a crepe without ice cream and was told they all came with ice cream. So perhaps in fairness, he's recently added these other options since my visit as well. As a reference point, I've been to Europe and around the world. I've had crepes in multiple locations. I think I know what I'm talking about. In closing, I've also owned my own business for several years. So I know a bit about customer service and marketing. Good luck Mr. Medina. I thought the crepe was too thick and gummy. My daughter said the strawberries on her crepes were sour and did not taste fresh, nothing special about the crepe itself. We will never be coming back and will stick to location on Mannheim and Prospect. The Mannheim location has the same paletas, ice creams, elotes etc at their other locations and they are fine. Pricing was okay. I foolishly assumed they would be consistent at this location. However, since I haven't tried it, I can't really comment on that part of the business. My cousin discovered it while we were having dinner nearby so we loaded up a few car-fuls of kids and adults of all sizes. To me, the ice creams and paletas seem to be consistent with every other location, which is amazing both in quality and price. Beyond the crepe offer, this place stands out to me because the staff running it today were great. Serving a large group can be chaotic but they were organized and friendly and above all, patient with all of the kids and questions from the adults. Terrible service & illegal pricing. We ordered a small and a regular size yogurt, the lady let us know they did not have any strawberries, despite there being a refrigerator full of strawberries ready to be washed and cut. We agreed to order without it, but were still annoyed since it was 8:45 and they close at 9. Once we paid we realized the prices displayed on their sample cups are not the price we were charged. They do not give you a receipt, and once we asked for it we realized they are charging between 20-42 more (pre tax) for what you order. (Photo attached) This is illegal and extremely dishonest. I asked to talk to the owner, since I understand this isn't the cashiers responsibility, and to my surprise, she had absolutely nothing to say. John, the owner and creator of majority of the recipes on the menu was very helpful and kind knowing that it was our first time here. He walked us through the items that were popular and the ones he recommended. I had the Mexico savory crepe that had ham, cheese, pico de gallo, avocado, and chipotle sauce as well as elotes in a cup with hot cheetos. Was in here earlier today, this chain is blowing up in the Chicagoland suburbs. Known for their Mexican snacks and beverages and of course their diverse selection of ice cream. This specific location was a little different with a smaller ice cream offering but they offer crepes and fresh squeezed juices. I ordered a mango cup which was awesome! China and esmeralda we're absolutely fantastic with their customer service. We had a horrible experience with Grubhub but the managers attitude completely saved my fiancé's and I experience. It's comparable to the ones you find in Chicago. Service was nice and they offered to let us sample some ice cream flavors too! Store is clean and organized. We ordered corn in a cup and mangonada. The corn had a tad too much mayo but still very good. We also liked that they gave us a tamarind candy stick with the mangonada. I get that with COVID going on a lot of things are hectic but i don't think it's too much to ask for them to update their hours correctly. We got there a little after nine and they were closed. Google maps said they closed at 9:30 but their website said 10 that day. Also there were still two workers inside and they just stood there staring at us. They were made how most people may be used to them in Illinois though, but in Texas our crepes are crispy and handheld. Plus Crepes! This family owned business is ran by incredibly humble and personable folks. We came in for paletas and realized they made crepes, luckily we hadn't had breakfast. I had the Michoacana Crepe and my husband had the S'more crepe. Both incredibly delicious! I haven't tried all the ice creams but I'm favoring the Abuelita flavor(mind blown).
