Absolutely awesome! I've been a cigar guy for a while but recently got in to pipes and pipe tobacco. So, starting from scratch as a novice again has been interesting as I am just getting jump started on different pipes, blends, types of pipe tobacco etc etc. It is always amazing for those who are experts to take the time with you and walk you down the path of what they know and about what you are trying to learn more about. I met Mark (one of the owners) today after stopping by while in town, he was amazing in helping me find the right blend, explaining the difference of a couple tobaccos and helping me learn a bit more. It made my experience even better and wish I had more time to hang out, pick his brain and honestly buy more than I did. I grabbed about 6-7 ounces of some amazing pipe tobacco blends that he took his time to take out, talk to me about and I can't wait to try them. I live about an hour away and I will make the drive to shop here directly in person. This has been a favorite and iconic place for cigar smokers for decades now. It has a rustic and unique feel to it.......down to earth, historic, hometown, personal and cozy. You can't miss that amazing aroma of aging cigars when you first set foot in there. Though the size of the store is quaint and small, they made perfect use of the limited space by placing the humidor along the entire side wall, and packing it with a large variety of cigars. They've got the a lot of the well known brands and some more independent or lesser known brands. I used to get Opus X cigars there, but unfortunately they aren't able to receive them anymore. Argh!!! They also sell pipes, humidors, accessories, and tobacco. My purchase was a ACID Kuba Kuba maduro, Arturo Fuente Double CHateau, and an Arturo Fuente cigarillo type (I think this one is machine made, and they used short filler.) i thought the prices were a bit too high. The Kuba Kuba and Fuente were about $12-$14. You can find them online for about half that or so. The fuente cigarillo was $4, but again, i think it was more like a machine made cigarillo then a real cigar. I like to purchase individual cigars at a local shop, just to try them out, and then go online to get a 5 pack of the ones i like best. It's a great way to randomly try out new cigars before investing in a 5 pack. Out of all 3, The ACID Kuba Kuba, was the best and a pleasant surprise. The super strong aroma, and sweet flavor was awesome. Because the aroma of the Kuba Kuba is so strong, you have to keep it separate from the other cigars or else they will absorb the powerful smell and possibly change the flavors of the other cigars in the humidor. Best cigar shop in town. Been to all of them but this is my home. Good selection, knowledgeable staff and great prices compared to other shops. Don't listen to the review about the cigars being dried up. That is absolutely not true. Been coming here for years and never got a dry cigar. I suspect that person did not take proper care of their cigar and smoked it days later. Also saying cigars "aren't fresh" shows me that person doesn't I know about cigars. Cigars are not supposed to be "fresh." Aged properly at the right temp and humidity is a good thing. Give the place a shot, you won't be disappointed. read more

super tiny and super hidden and very amazing. Fiance is a pipe smoker, and has trouble finding authentic pipe tobacco shops that aren't just 420 shops in disguise. The old man who owns the place is the epitome of old-timey pipe smoker- suspenders, a cute country shop, and a "small" personal collection of 300 pipes. They sell a huge variety of tobaccos and cigars, and make their own house blends as well! Fiance got a medium bodied aromatic house blend that is his new favorite. Tiny shop but the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful, willing to talk tobacco with you all day. He helped me get started right with my humidor even though it wasn't purchased at his shop and he's always happy to help me select the best cigars even when I'm there to peruse the "cheap" box. MMMM, sweet delicious harmful tobacco. John and Mark run a fine shop. It is about as big as a walk in closet, put worth it's square-footage in gold. I enjoy their many different varieties of Aromatic Pipe Tobacco. They are very knowledgable, and more than willing to help you get your fix. They have a great cigar collection, and all those fancy-pants cigarrettes that people only smoke to look cool. Great collection of pipes, and bless their hearts they give you enough matches to feel comfortable lighting a smoke in a catagory 3 hurricane. Stop by and give em a try. I went in with a friend who picked up a box of Hemingway Short Stories. The smell was intoxicating I love the smell of cigars. I was curious because as we were waiting for him to get the box from the back I was looking around the joint. I was intrigued with all the nostalgic containers, counters and this big wooden cigarette lighter. He was kind and explained how his dad kept things the way they were but also updated were he had to. I love visiting places where the owners don't mind explaining to people like me about their shops and sharing their stories. Thank you very much my visit there was a pleasant one. Man, I'm really torn on this one because they have a good selection and I'm not sure that all their employees are like this but there's no excuse for this kind of crap so here goes... I was in there a little over a year ago to buy some rolling tobacco. The guy waiting on me was an old fat white dude with a Hawaiian shirt on who seemed pleasant enough at first. A couple guys in suits come into the shop and are looking at cigars through the glass humidor door. They were speaking to each other, rather quietly I might add, in Portugese (I only know due to having some Brazilian friends). To my shock and amazement the fat guy says "Hey, Kunta Kinte, English only." The suited gentlemen ignored him and fat racist then raises his voice and says "Hey! You Kunta Kinte Mother F**kers! English only in here!" One of the suits finally says, in perfect English "What? I wasn't even talking to you!" and they walk out. I put my wallet back in my pocket, slid the tobacco back to him and left as well...went straight for Cardenas on 16th and was treated like a king. Nothing worse than a racist that doesn't even know how to use racial slurs correctly. read more

In a world filled with stark, overly-hip vape stores and incense-laden head shops, Tower Pipe & Cigars stands in a world on its own. Just about the size of a match-box, this dark shop smells just like the wonderful product they sell. Having had an awful day at work, and being out of pipe tobacco, I thought to give them a try. I was pleased from the second I walked in. I'm new to the world of pipe smoking and still playing around with what I like. I was greeted upon entering, in awe of the shelves lined with different boxes and things to see. The staff was incredibly helpful. I explained that I know I enjoy a good, sweet cavendish and the man behind the counter immediately recommended the Honey Bee, a Virginian tobacco with a hint of vanilla. I bought an ounce ($4) and had a good brief chat. I came home and got ready to unwind, a bourbon cocktail in hand. I tamped my pipe and lit up. I was immensely pleased with the way the tobacco burnt, and the flavor was incredible, sweet while still tasting strong. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed a twenty minute smoke (only relighting once, yes, it was that good). I was able to relax and unwind after having an awful day. Needless to say, I will be returning to this place to try other tobaccos and replenish my supply of Honey Bee. I can't recommend or thank this place enough. You are a beacon of a lost art, of a lost taste, in a world full of the less-fine things. Thank you again. read more

I'm not a very heavy smoker, but I like a good smooth loose leaf tobacco- usually a Virgina- or some type of Honey. This small shop has quite a variety to choose from- and tobacco is sold at a pretty average price. It also makes for a very cool gift shop if you know your stuff... Or you could just ask the knowledgeable staff. It's too bad to hear about the racial incident below- but I fortunately dealt with a very nice older gentleman. Tower also carries Nat Sherman's and the very classy Dunhill. Also available are cigars, pipes, cleaners, and all your cigar/ tobacco/pipe needs. Anyways, spoke to mark and I asked his if I can get my friend a gift certificate via phone bc I didn't have time to go there. Took care of me and took very good care of my friend! I ordered a butane cigar lighter online for my dad and took it into the shop to buy some butane. The guy helping me offered to show me how to fill it up (I'd never done it before) so he went through all the steps, filled up the lighter with butane, and when he tried to light it, it sparked but no butane was coming out. He spent about 10 minutes messing with it, trying to change the flow of the butane, adding more fuel, taking some out, etc and it just wasn't budging. Keep in mind it was brand new when I took it in and didn't work straight out of the package. While showing me how to fill up the lighter and trying to get it working was beyond my expectations, he really blew me away when he told me he'd contact a representative of the brand and get me a brand new, working lighter. WOW! Considering I didn't even BUY this lighter there, I'd say that's above and beyond. Both guys in the store were really nice and helpful and this will be my only cigar shop from now on. While one guy was helping me with my lighter, the other guy helped me mom pick up a dozen cigars for my dad for fathers day. She had no idea what to get and he had great recommendations and wasn't pushy at all. What a great shop! read more

Sure Tower Pipe and Cigar is only about as big as an oversized walk in closet, however it is the walk in closet of any cigar or pipe smokers dearest dream... They have an incredible selection of great brands, everything from higher end name brands, to new labels & new blends that are just hitting the market, to quality cigars that don't take as much of a dent out of your wallet (but still are tasty smokes!) Don't walk into this place expecting to buy a peach philly blunt or some fancy glasswork, this place caters to the seasoned (and budding) cigar aficionado! The absolute hands-down best part about this joint is not the product, but the people, owned by a Father and Son team, each gentleman will take the time to answer questions and help you out. Mark often has taken my budget, my tastes into account, then suggested some very tasty sticks (that have since become my new favorites!) Tower Pipe and Cigar is much better than its two nearest competitors in that Mark sells a really wide variety of name brand cigars, while his competitors cigars are all home-rolled one variety. I'm sorry to hear that one reviewer had a bad experience, some folks have bad days and I am sure there is more than one side to that story, but I am pretty sure that the shopkeeper that the previous reviewer was complaining about (who is NOT one of the owners) was the same guy that once sat me down at the front counter and spent two hours teaching me the intricacies of pipes and pipe tobacco. He emails me when he gets something new of that he knows I want, easy transaction, and it is on the way. Gets some nice hard to find stuff, and customer service is just top notch.
