We were looking for years, and absolutely fell in love with the place they built. While I can't comment on the working relationship, I can can comment on their quality of outcome, which is stellar. Gas line? Hot water recirc? Heated flooring? Large overhangs? Pushing your space to the legal height limits? Balconies, induction stoves, floor to ceiling Anderson doors and spacious windows or open concept living areas? Glass garage doors? Garappa platform decking? Energy recovery ventilator? Electric car charging? Mini split AC? Everything is beautiful, everything works, and we're super happy with the end result. Is it perfect? No. Is anything ever perfect? Also no. Has every inspector or tradesman we've hired made an unsolicited comment on the build quality? Yes. Has that happened to our friends or family? No, definitely not with this unprompted consistency. While we have some settlement problems with the flooring, issues with some appliances, some scraping on the balcony doors, and the drainage pump should have used waterproof wing nuts (also the float valves easily get caught), overall it's a supremely complex 5 story build with stellar results. We're only a year in, so we'll see how it goes, but so far so great.

He was referred to us by an interior designer so our expectations were sky high. We were expecting the HGTV style contractor who does wonders.Jack was exactly that and more. Jack was responsive and fantastic to work with. He came by to look at our house to give us an estimate. He was not hurried, took time to listen and make suggestions. He was easy to schedule and responded to our texts and emails promptly. For the basement, we had him put up drywall, paint the entire room, patch holes in the ceiling left by our electricians while rewiring the house. For the updates, he framed the mirror above our mantle, added shelves to our dining room built ins, got us custom sized closet doors for our bedrooms plus installation, put up mirrors and curtains and the list goes on. Jack finished everything on time. He arrived bright and early everyday, stayed on schedule despite the small additions to the list of stuff we wanted to get done. He left the house perfectly clean and livable every evening. We plan to use him for any painting, carpentry or handyman work in the future. Its really hard to find someone trustworthy to do a perfect job , who is easy to communicate to, has a positive attitude, thoroughly professional and can handle a variety of tasks. He is priced right and gave us solid suggestions. I would wholeheartedly recommend using him for your remodel needs for your peace of mind.

Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. We were initially recommended to a few contractors that specialized in restoration from leaks but started to feel uncomfortable with the process and like they were all trying to take advantage of us via the insurance claim. A neighborhood Facebook group pointed us to Chermak with consistent reports of them having great service, but also a fair price and staying on time and on budget. I was quickly connected to Angel the project manager and she was able to come out to our house that week for an inspection. She immediately built trust with us and showed a genuine care for wanting to get us back into our home (we had been out already for 3 months). We trusted our gut and quickly got to work with Angel and Chermak and getting the ball rolling on the scope of work to be done and approved by our insurance company. And to risk the obvious pun here, Angel was an Angel, there's no way this would have gone how it did without her, for all that she manages and does she's very efficient and good at her job and really absorbs a lot of the stress and difficulty that is common to this kind of work. She also was very reasonable with us in not upselling, offering suggestions where things could be easier or money better spent, which helped with our trust. Fast forward to the working starting EARLY (which was a good thing) and not only completing on time but even a week EARLY than what was planned, so exciting for us. Kim from the design team helped us get our plans together for the bathrooms to achieve what we really wanted out of them and set the plans in place. Tyler was our GC for the 8 weeks of restoration and I selfishly don't want to tell everyone how good he is because then everyone will want him. We were concerned about having so many people in our home and around our stuff, but he so quickly made us feel comfortable and was adopted into the family. He also really listened to us and understood our wants, needs and particular requests as the bathrooms were constructed, he knew it was important to us things be done the right way and was willing to take the time to see it through. He's also just an all-around good dude and we miss having him here. I've given many referrals since our job wrapped to other prospective clients for Chermak and we intend to hire them again when it's time to remodel our kitchen. Our job was not without any issues but they were determined to do the right thing and see us be happy with the end result, which is a really great experience in this kind of arrangement. Tony showed up a couple of hours after his crew had jackhammered our driveway (without any agreement on time or date) with his 'contract' which had nothing to say about our design wants. Delays, delays, delays always someone else's fault. Then he just got mean . When we tried to question him he literally grabbed a piece of rebar and swung it at my head. Lied to our neighbor about killing his plants with some lie about having a relative who tests plants and chemicals blah, blah ... then turned to us and laughed. Our driveway is filled with cracks and holes. I've written about this guy on different sites. Do not hire!!!

We recently wrapped up on an extensive remodeling project complete with a revised second story…read morebedroom, large balcony, new main level deck, and outdoor kitchen. We could not be happier with the finished product or with the experience we had with McAdams. Everyone we worked with was professional, friendly and helpful. Further, there were no surprises along the way from start to finish with regard to scope of work or expense. Additionally, our project was tricky from a permitting perspective and we decided to do a complete landscaping project in tandem with our remodel. McAdams was willing to work with us and the landscaping company to sync our permits and carry out the work while coordinating project timing. McAdams delivered on all of their promises and their craftsmanship is excellent. At one point, we had something turn out slightly less than perfect and when we brought it to their attention, they completely revised it to make sure it met their standards. Our finished project turned out better than we had hoped. We would not hesitate to recommend McAdams and definitely plan to use them again for future projects.

But at the end, man, you have something pretty terrific out of it. My process with McAdams started in June 2017, when I contracted with them to remodel, primarily, my master bathroom in my townhouse. However, they were also repainting the entire interior (including millwork), installing new flooring everywhere, and doing a few other things. The actual building process began in January, 2018 and ended, pretty much, in July. Their work is very high quality. My project lead, Rich, was amazing - very easy to work with. After the build, there have been some minor detail-y things that have required them to come back to fix. Dale, the owner, has been very nice about getting right on these things. One star off for two reasons: they are very expensive. Know that going in. The other reason probably won't impact you. When I contracted with them, they were going through a bit of a staffing turnover. I loved my original project manager and was sad when I learned he was leaving. Because of the turnover, certain things weren't done when they should have been due to communication lapses (permits weren't pulled...). This resulted in my daughter and I spending more time in a hotel than we'd been prepared to do. However, Dale worked with us to reimburse our cost, so that was terrific. And again, my house is gorgeous.

He came over same day to survey the job I was requesting which was to tile the backsplash of a powder room bathroom. Jeff provided a quote to install the tile and finish the work of the bathroom including install of vanity, plumbing, sink, mirror, caulking. His quote seemed reasonable. However due to the holidays and budgeting we elected to only have the tile work performed. He was happy to only do the tile work instead of everything he originally quoted us for. According to my partner Zach, Jeff was very professional to speak to and work with throughout the entire process while I was traveling. Jeff even helped out as a bonus and fixed how our carpet met up with the tile bathroom floor that we had installed ourselves but did not take care of the transition between the tile and carpet ourselves properly. When I came home and saw the tile work I immediately knew it was worth the money. Everything was level on the wall. The tile was expertly cut around the plumbing, and the grout lines everywhere were very clean. He cleaned up after himself so well that you wouldn't of known a day before tile was installed.
