Awful!!! Bought a car for my son and had to take it back in to them for check engine issues 4 times in 2 months... and a failed emissions test... each time giving up my car to him for days at a time. After the last failed fix resulted in a collision they swapped the car out.... and guess what, within a few weeks a check engine light comes on. Finally the search is over. I've gone everywhere trying to find the "right fit". I've done the corporate garage vs the private garage and this one if hands down my top pick. I have a 2008 Jeep. Had a transmission code pop. Called my local "go to" guy who said he'd rather not touch transmissions. I gave a call to TJ, the Service Manager there. Got me in quickly. Problem solved same day. No issues after service. Reasonable price. Treated right by TJ and owner Tom who was on premise. I live in Norwich and it was worth the trip to New London for this service and price. read more

A family member purchased a vehicle from this establishment about 1-1/2 years ago. During the sales process he was promised the world. In February of '24 during a cold spell, the car refused to start. This happened again in December '24 and twice more in January and February of '25. Each time AAA was called. Twice they were able to jump-start the vehicle and twice it needed to be towed. Each time this "dealership" ran diagnostics on the vehicle and found "nothing wrong." With the latest occurrence they refused to help him at all. The most criminal part of this is he purchased a service agreement which should have assured him the appropriate repairs at no charge. He ended up bringing it to the manufacturer's local dealership and the problem was quicly resolved...but certainly not at no charge. This place is the epitome of sleazy used car dealership. They're spectacular during the sale and then disappear when there's an issue...even WITH a service agreement that obligates them to make repairs. BEWARE prospective customers!!! read more

The Red Ford Raptor that is currently on there lot needs 30k plus work of rust restoration on the under carriage and it also needs frame work where it has rusted out. Definately not worth the 30k their asking for it. read more

We were sold a truck in November 2017 that had issues right away. They also sold us a warranty. So we brought the truck back, and it sat there for MONTHS. We got the run around the whole time, and they have zero record of the truck ever being serviced. We got the truck back, we were told they put a new "block" in it. No further explanation, no invoice. Still had the same problems. Now our warranty company is telling us they delivered an engine to Town Hill, Town Hill says they have no record Of putting an engine in. So where the hell is my engine?! Theft. That's what that's called. Now they refuse to take my calls without a lawyer present. Really nice, right? read more

Went for State Emissions Test. 22 year old truck failed so I asked them to diagnose and install a replacement air conditioning unit with the parts I had already purchased They did an excellent job that matched the written estimate that they had given me It is hard to find competent mechanics who you can trust. Come to find out when I'm trading my car in, the loan never showed up on my credit report or my husband's who co-signed. When the dealership I bought my new car car from called the bank they had no idea about the loan I had been paying on for over 2 years. I had heard good things about Town Hill Autos for many years and looking at their inventory I decided to visit to purchase my son's first car. There is always a perception of distrust with used car sales and I had relatively low expectations. However, I must admit I couldn't have asked for a better or more professional experience at every stage of the process. The Sales Manager, John, was pleasant and highly knowledgeable, not just about his own stock, but about the trade in general. He listened and made sensible suggestions, based upon my budget and my needs. He made giving him the money very easy! What made Town Hill Autos stand out especially was the professionalism after signing the papers. The car was given a full service and anything (and I really mean anything) that might have made the car anything less than perfect was attended to. This included new tires, even though there was plenty of tread left, brakes, even a slightly sticking rear window controller. Their commitment to ensuring that we got a vehicle that was second to none was surprising and refreshing. At no point was there any hesitation by them to skimp on anything regarding that car. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone who is looking for a dependable high quality vehicle that they stand 100% behind at all times. We purchased a Toyota Tacoma. We are very happy with the vehicle, but the service lacks. We had to stay hard on their case to get them to accomplish services that were promised to us. We did finally succeed. I was considered a nag. They don't like calls when they open at 10:00 AM, and the owner Tom does not return calls! read more

*Negative five-stars* Wow... It seems as though not much has changed since I bought a car here back in 1994. I purchased a 1985 Volvo 240glt using their buy-here-pay-here program. I was 19 and very naive. They saw me coming a mile away, and took full advantage. The steering wheel was rotated 90 degrees and they assured me that all it needed was an alignment. Not long after buying the car, the brakes failed, the muffler snapped in half, the driveshaft busted, the headlight switch failed, the turbocharger began leaking oil into the broken exhaust... long story short, the car didn't last 6-months from the date of purchase. To add insult to injury, they lied about how much money I owed when I went to trade in the car. I had all of the paperwork and every receipt, yet they yelled and screamed insisting that I owed more. Even the dealer I was working with was at a loss for words. I bet that if a place of worship were to be built on that lot in the future, it would spontaneously burst into flames. These people are crooks! Bought a car and was told they "check everything by law"..... Three months later... Warranty ran out ... I needed news brakes and rotors! Mechanic showed me how old and dangerous they were! Also, I needed a new fuel pump in six months, a new computer EGR module and new tires! I paid 14000 for the car and had to junk it! I couldn't even sell it for parts! I still owe 1289.00 and I cannot wait for my final payment! I've been paying non two cars for two years! I bought brand new this time. Do NOT trust these nuts! * PLEASE SHARE* If I could give 0 stars I would Recently bought an 2009 infinity 37x from Town Hill Auto 1 month ago. Buying experience itself was fine although They refused to budge on the price. I purchased the car with a 100k mile warranty over 4 years. Two days after buying the car my check engine light came on for an upstream 02 sensor ( plug and play). Brought the car in to town hill to have it fixed. They supposedly fixed the 02 sensor but did not give me a receipt. 2 days later the 02 sensor came on again, they used a cheap part that the infinity rejected. I made another appointment to get it fixed during the time between appointments my passenger window stopped working. Brought it back for the 02 again they did not have the part and attempted to fix the switch. When I received the car back again check engine light still on. Now my passenger window works but neither of my rear windows work. Called them they did not care and brushed it off like it's no big deal, at the same time being rude to my fiancé who has to take the car in and my self. Now we're at the 3rd attempt to get the car fixed took over 2 weeks to get the part in. We made an appointment to bring in the car today at 1130-12 to have fixed. She arrives at 12 to have them fix and town hill tells her she has to wait 2 hours to have it fixed then another 2 hours to fix it. At this point we are tired of having to go back for the same problem she asks to talk to the owner. The sales manager John was obscenely rude to her and started screaming at her to the point where she calls me crying. I called town hill to figure out what happened. John gets on the phone and instantly raises his voice to me. Needless to say we will never go back to town hill auto to have any work done nor will we ever buy a car from then again. i don,t see how this dealership will have any positive reviews unless they are just made up. this is a real review that is why i use my name. this is steve and i ran waterford pizza palace from 2009 till august 30 2017. over the years i met tom the owner of town hill auto, he was a customer at the pizza shop. he looked like a nice person,he supported me all these years,so when i told him i was looking for a used mercedes for my wife with low miles,he offered to get me one at an auction and save me money. one day he called me and said that he found one. he said...exact words....i found the perfect car for you...a 2012 mercedes e350 formatic with 20,000 miles...he said exact words....clean car ,no accidents,i even checked the color is the original color.....so i bought the car. after couple of years we decided to trade this car in for a smaller car. no dealership wanted to give me much for the car, because this car was in a major car accident and had structural frame damage,i lost all my down payment and 3 years of bank payments. they are crooks ,stay away from them. read more

The sold me a car without catalytic converters and will not pass emissions in CT...of course it passed at their shop with their mechanics doing the test !! Totally shady and accused me of changing exhaust...they do not stand by their word at all. Bought a beautiful truck from Town Hill but they didn't service it properly. The day we left the dealership the truck was smoking and burning from under the hood. The owner was already home with our pristine traded in truck. We had to go back 3 times, from an hour away, to get all the repairs corrected which included brake calipers. The 4th issue was a leaking brake caliper (the new ones that Town Hill replaced/installed) and the truck was not safe to drive. We were lucky to have discovered the issue and to get to the local service station safely. We got it serviced locally & Town Hill wouldn't stand behind their work or reimburse us the labor cost of the repair that they didn't do properly in the first place!!!! They did a shotty job with all the repairs they promised to do and told us they completed! We gave them every opportunity to do the right thing... THEY DIDN'T!!!! I would never recommend this place or the owner! I am only giving them 1 star because there is no option to leave no stars! Go to a reputable dealership which Town Hill is NOT. read more
