On 2/27/19, my 2009 Ford Mustang was examined by Rich's Service Center LLC, and Estimate #9855 was generated. This Estimate documented the need for the following replacements: (1) the oil pressure switch, thermostat housing, and power steering pump. On 4/10/2019, Rich replaced the oil pressure switch and thermostat housing. Immediately upon return of the Mustang, the oil-pressure gauge began to intermittently shift from E to F and the dashboard oil-pressure icon illuminated as well. On 4/15/19, the Mustang was returned to Rich's, to remedy the issues of the gauge shift and icon illumination. Bethany Silvia informed me that the problem remained and the condition of the Mustang was my responsibility. On 5/10/19, my wife was driving home, during which the Mustang began a "rat-tat-tat" sound that gained volume. She was less than a mile from Rich's and managed to drive there safely. On 5/14/19, I was informed by Rich that there was a problem with the Mustang "deep in the engine." I then picked up the car from Rich's and drove the Mustang across the street to Karns Automotive Sales & Service, for a second opinion. On 5/15/19, Dan Karns called and indicated the cause of the loud engine noise was the fact that there was no oil in the engine and no reading on the dip stick. Dan added five quarts of oil. The internal noise persists, and the car cannot be driven. A new engine is needed. read more

After a very bad experience with a small and locally owned mechanic many many years ago I have consistently stuck with the associated dealer for any maintenance. Recently my wife's car needed new brakes and rotors so instead of enlisting the help of some friends I decided to give the quote feature a try and the price I received was well below the dealer. This service center is incredibly convenient if you happen to work at a certain large employer within walking distance. My car died in the area and towing to a garage near my home wasn't economical so I had it towed here. The namesake of this garage is the only mechanic, so for emergency work like mine, he might not be able to get to you within a day. My car was ready two days after I brought it in, which is still pretty good. Labor rate is $80/hr, which I believe is pretty standard. Car is no running great and I have no complaints. Although I hope I don't have more car troubles in Groton, I know where I'll be bringing my car if I do. read more

This little garage was recommended to me by the guys that work at EB, and man, was it a fantastic recommendation. They have upfront and honest pricing, and their prices are far cheaper than anyone else in the area. I went to another garage to get a quote on some work and it was $100 more than the quote Rich's gave me an hour later! They talk to you like you're a human being, which is a fantastic quality in a garage in my opinion. The office is very cold and quite small, but there's a Dunkin Donuts and Subway across the street you can hang out at. They're very popular, so make an appointment early because they fill up quick. They usually work a week out or so. read more

I'm not in the habit of writing Yelp reviews, but my recent experience at Rich's compels me to recommend them to others looking for an honest and competent car mechanic. Specifically, I brought my car in because I had noticed that a valve stem on one of my tires was missing, and I assumed that it would cost at least $20 to fix it. However, it turns out that only the stem extension got torn off on my tire, not the stem itself. Rich replaced the part on my affected tire as well as my other tires too for good measure, and charged me ZERO since he didn't even have to remove the wheels to do it! This minor repair was not only convenient but also Rich and Bethany were very cool about doing it at no cost! I definitely recommend this shop because of their no-BS attitude and I intend to bring my car back here next month for a brake job. Thanks guys! read more

Our Jeep broke down in Connecticut -about 50 miles from home - based on a Yelp review I called Rich. Even though it was Christmas Eve and he was closed I left a message and he called me back within an hour. On the day after Christmas - when they were still closed - he came in his shop to look at the Jeep and called me with an estimate - it was the compressor. The Jeep was ready by Friday - he was reliable and responsive and the price was reasonable. I wish I lived closer so I could take all my vehicles to him. read more

I was terribly ripped off by a service station in Old Saybrook for repairs that werent necessary and double charged on labor. They did shoddy work and a few days later my car broke down again- (probably from something that other garage did). I would not send my car back to this place and after searching on line found Rich's Service Center. I cannot begin to tell you what a wonderful, professional and honest service center this is. The wife, Bethany handles the phone and husband Rich does the repairs. This is truly a step back in time to when you could trust people with a handshake and know they have your back. I like Rich's, he does quality work for a fair price (way cheaper than dealer)....he helped keep my Subaru going replacing stuff as needed, and even patched up a marginal exhaust system, to get me through a couple months of driving while I tried to decide if it was worth it to keep the car. over the course of 5 years I think he did work 6 or 7 times including exhaust repair, then replacement, cv joints, ball joint, rear wheel bearing... he has knowledgeable help at the front desk who schedules appointments, and provides accurate estimates...never did I have to go back for rework, or to return a tool he left under the hood of my car..Thanks read more
