I've always had a lot of trepidation when it came to finding someone I could trust to work on my vehicles. I've been burned a # of times as I'm sure you have been too. In fact I've already written about one experience (you can see it on yelp) where I felt I really got screwed. So when I got a glowing recommendation about a guy and his business from the manager of the tire shop in town I was more then a bit skeptical. But I had a real problem. The struts in my car were destroyed... The car was dangerous to drive... I had to have it fixed... So I took a shot. As soon as I spent a few minutes talking with Mike at tmr automotive I knew I was in good hands. He walked me through and explained the problem, showed me the details and told me what was needed. (little did he know I already had 2 quotes and I knew exactly what the problem was) So I was prepared.... BUT what I wasn't prepared for was the price he quoted me. GHESH I almost fell over... The price he quoted me beat all the other prices of the other shops in town for an excellent job, done quickly and extremely well. This is what I learned... The other guys all priced it the same way. They looked at their "book" and quoted me right out of the standard price book. Now Mike at TMR... He does things differently. He used his 25 years of experience to take a hard look and evaluated the REAL situation. So he priced it based on reality NOT the way the standard industry does it. The folks at TMR really are as good as it gets. Not only did they get me in and out in one day when no other garage in the area could, they were diligent, courteous, and cared about my needs and concerns. If I had a question about something they were doing, they answered it and showed me the issues. The prices couldn't be beat either. After all was said and done, they had fully inspected my brakes, discovered the reason the Brake light was on was because of a hidden leak in my passenger front brake line, changed out the line, changed my oil, AND had cleaned out my throttle because I had discovered this morning, the original reason for bringing it in actually, that my 03 Cavalier wouldn't say running once I turned it over unless I held my foot on the gas. All of that for less than $200. Friendly, reliable, knowledgeable. A+ All around. I know where I'm going now on for all of my car repair needs. read more

I took my car back to the local tire store where I had purchased tires three thousand miles previously to have them rotated and they rounded off four wheel lugs that they had previously over tightened during tire install. Now unable to remove the wheel nuts a worker in the store recommended I take it to TMR to have the wheel nuts removed. He called TMR and explained the situation and Mike said they would help. I brought the car to TMR and Bryan ended up having to drill out and replace the wheel studs. He also diagnosed an ABS light and determined it to be caused by a bad wheel sensor. A day later I brought the car back to have the wheel sensor replaced and asked Bryan if he could also replace the front brake pads as they were getting worn. He replaced the wheel sensor, front brake pads and rotors which were also worn. Bryan does great work and it was done at a very fair price. I needed the car repaired quickly because we were giving it to our daughter who was driving it back to Pennsylvania. Thanks to Mike, Bryan and Terry our daughter was able to drive safely back home. TMR is now my go to garage for any auto repairs we need. read more

I first heard about TMR Automotive from a tow truck driver. I needed to have my car towed to the local car dealership for repair. I had been having my car repaired at this local car dealership on and off for 10+ years. With a few exceptions I was never happy with the the quality of the repair service I had received there. On the drive over to the dealership, I asked the tow truck driver about the reputation of the dealership and he said a lot of people complained. I then asked who had a good reputation and the tow truck driver said he had heard some good things about TMR Automotive. A year or so later, I had what seemed a complicated repair problem that needed to be properly diagnosed and fixed. I was dreading dealing with the car dealership. I had made a mental note about TMR and decided to give them a try. I am extremely happy I did. The difference between dealing with TMR and the service department at the car dealership is like night and day. Brian, the person at TMR I dealt with, treated me with the kind of respect that a valued customer deserves. It sounds a bit corny to say it but he treated me like family. He took the time to drive in the car with me present to make sure he knew exactly what the problem was. We scheduled an appointment for the actual work to be done and the car was successfully repaired that same day. In comparison to all the other places I have had my car repaired over the years, dealing with TMR Automotive was a joy. The bill was surprisingly fair. Please also note that I waited a week before posting this review. I have no doubt the work TMR did was both necessary and well executed. My wife and I were on a little vacation at Foxwoods, celebrating 35 years of wedded bliss. My 2006 Cadillac started making a rattling noise and misfiring. I checked Yelp and found TMR nearby, called and made an appointment for Wednesday morning. I was hoping that I might get the car fixed for under $400. While I had a bagel and coffee across the street, Mike and his staff checked it out, finding that in my bone-headedness, I had let it get very low on oil. Mike charged me $38 for an oil and filter change, explaining that he couldn't charge me for something that he didn't do. The car ran smoothly all the way home, and my faith in humanity is strengthened. I only wish that I lived in the Norwich area, so that I could avail myself of TMR's services regularly. read more
