Food: when we were handed the menu, i wasn't expecting anything special and initially thought we'd potentially made a mistake stopping here for lunch. however, i'm pleased to say, the food was really delicious. The chili was incredible. i normally have to doctor up a chili w/ a sugar substitute to cut the acid. this didn't need that and had a really nice heat to it. it came with some sort of corn tortillas that i'd never seen but which really made for a nice accompaniment. the sandwich was ok. the taste was good but the chicken was overcooked and dry and i had trouble chewing through the onion, too. overall, 4.5-5 stars for the food. Service: i don't know how i feel about the service. it wasn't really anything special. the bartender was the only person working the front and maybe he was just tired. he wasn't rude or anything just kinda going through the motions. i don't hold it against him at all. in fact, he was - as i'd mentioned before - kind enough to allow Danielle to order a sandwich that wasn't on the menu. Ambiance: i mean, let's be honest. the place is a dive. Danielle apparently knows the owners and says they've never put any money into it and it's kinda obvious. i haven't been there in nearly 20 years prior to Saturday and nothing had changed. where we were sitting the brick floor was beginning to break away from the wall. kinda makes you wonder how long before daylight will be shining through. anyway, overall i really liked my lunch and i'd be happy to add Sip-n-Post to our regular rotation.
