This is the second TownePlace Suites I stayed within a week and I am starting to love this Marriott's brand. Even with the basic 2 Queen Beds Studio set up, the room is spacious. I do like how the sink is right outside the bathroom especially if you have 2 people sharing a room. The kitchen is well equipped with utensils if you do want to make yourself a small meal. Breakfast is included but we did not partake as there are so many different options to eat in the area, we are in Markham/Scarborough after all. The 24/7 coffee/tea station up in 14th floor is welcoming, if you don't want to brew your own coffee in your room or just want to get some hot water. There are plenty of parking in the covered parking structure next door. Overnight parking is not free but $5 is reasonable.

Very nice and spacious rooms with comfortable beds, great modern amenities, and a nice view from the windows. The rooms themselves weren't super upscale but compared to other places in Toronto I've stayed at for a similar price, I enjoyed this hotel a bit more. The hallways were also very spacious with furniture and carried the same modern look. This hotel has several conference rooms and a generous amount of parking (multifloor parking garage), good for holding meetings. Breakfast was alright -- with the standard cereal, make your own waffle, eggs, sausage, etc. but the view from the top floor is worth the trip alone (although there's not much around here to really see). Overall, nice place to stay if you're visiting the Toronto area. Comfortable at a reasonable price and clean.

While the check in area is small, they have a bar and restaurant area that offers plenty of seating in a bright, airy atmosphere. We booked a 1 bedroom with double beds, 1 ba, sleeper sofa, dining table, and kitchen room. While the room provided a little more space, the bathroom was a tad dated and cramped. The door from our bedroom that led into the bathroom could almost touch the toilet. The towel bar was literally wiggling and was not very sturdy. Would be nice to have 2 queen beds in these rooms vs the double beds. The fridge was not full size but larger than a mini fridge and this was helpful for keeping our fruits and drinks cold. We arrived during a heat wave and the ability to have cold drinks was very helpful. While we did not use the stove, the microwave came in handy. This location was perfect for us! We were visiting relatives in the area and were close to many stores and restaurants. Next to us was a strip mall with many restaurants and shops and across the street diagonally was another shopping center. Additional malls were within a 7-15 min driving radius. Housekeeping was wonderful! They stopped by daily and were great! They don't have a gym. The gym in the building is run by the Unionville Athletic Club. While you can use the facilities daily, you have to sign a waiver daily and they are not open 24/7, which is a drawback.

I know most people would be pleased with their stay. We thought the lunch in the hotel restaurant was very good...glad we split the French dip sandwich because it was huge and delicious. Soup needed to be re-heated as it was served luke warm. There is also a bar and coffee bar in the lobby. Coffee was really good. Check in was slow and disorganized. We were offered an upgraded room if we waited until the room was cleaned. That was a mistake. We ended up waiting in the lobby for 3 1/2 hrs and our room was the same as others in our party. I am not deducting a star for that bc everything else was excellent. There are a few local Asian type restaurants in a short walking distance. Hotel lobby is quite high energy, lots of people coming and going, others enjoying the bar area, and I like the open area. Parking is plentiful. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

They do have complimentary coffee, hot water, and tea bags near the front desk; this was a welcomed addition as a snow storm hit during my stay. The small fridge and microwave does come in handy if you are staying a few days. The room was pretty clean and spacious, but the curtains don't close all the way; I normally wouldn't care, but my room was on the second floor and people outside can easily look right into your room. Another annoyance is that it can be difficult to find parking in the evening as the lot isn't that large and spaces in the front are partially taken up by the hotel next door. I like the look of the large glass walls of the shower, but there is a huge design flaw as the swinging door collects splashes and the water starts to leak out onto the bathroom floor. They do provide a towel on the door, so I guess they are aware of this issue. Overall, I did enjoy my stay. The drawbacks weren't serious, and the friendliness of the staff were top notch. I wouldn't mind staying here again in the future.

The hotel is in a great location because there is a complex across from the hotel where a bunch of restaurants are located. So there are plenty of food options nearby. The room itself was clean. No sign of bed bugs. Hubby inspected the room thoroughly before we brought our cat & clothing in. We got a room with 2 queen beds. There is a mini fridge in the room along with a microwave & a coffee maker. There is also a closet where an ironing board & iron are located. In the bathroom there were clean towels & a hair dryer. As well as complimentary toiletries (Shampoo, conditioner, soap). There is a desk in the room which is attached to the unit which the tv sits on. Also there is a club chair by the window & a small cafe table by the chair. Unfortunately our room was facing the road which can get pretty noisy. So if you're going to stay here & are bothered by noise ask for a quiet room. Also on our second night there people in the room next to us & across from us were making noise in the hall way at 12.08am. Seemed like they were having a party in the hallway. I complained to the front desk about them. They prevented me from getting a good night's rest. I had breakfast at the hotel & the options are limited to continental breakfast, 3 egg omelette (with sides), 2 eggs your way, pancakes & waffles. I was craving smoked salmon but they didn't have it unfortunately. So I got the omelette & it was delicious. They made the order up quickly as well. Waitstaff were friendly, fast & efficient. The hotel restaurant is pretty quiet usually because of all the restaurants next door. Checking out was easy as well. They have a pantry with snacks & other essentials by the front desk. I will say hubby was able to get free stuff from the pantry. But when I asked how much I had to pay. Next time I'll just get hubby to get it for me. He always seems to get stuff for free.

The hotel appears recently redone and the front desk staff are kind. The rooms are comfortable with enough plugs, allowing me to use my Roku to keep up on my Netflix shows. Seriously the best breakfast I have had at a Hilton property. The employees are all very kind and Bahar even let us practice languages with her. We stayed for 2 weeks and stayed on the 6th floor, which is the highest. And had no problems hearing other guests. Absolutely no problems, except for the mildew smell coming from the ac and the room getting a bit warm at night. It probably needed the filter changed. We would stay here again and again.

We usually stay about 3 to 5 days and it's only 8 hours drive from Chicago so it's fairly an easy drive. But ever since we discovered Homewood Suites by Hilton in Markham, we've only been to this hotel ever since. Year after year after year we get the 2 room suite for our family of 4. My husband and I share a room with our own TV and bathroom. My youngest gets the sofabed with his own TV and my oldest gets the other room with his own TV and share the bathroom with my youngest. We get the best sleep ever when we're on vacation for the last 3 years. They also have free breakfast in the morning and we like to bring it back to our room and just enjoy it before we go on with our days. They have a workout room and also a pool that are nice and clean. The workout room is open 24/7 and the pool is from 10am to 10pm. We usually bring our own water gun and toys and my youngest have a great time. It's not the cleanest so that's the reason why I've taken away 1 star. They just need to make sure the sofabeds are clean bc that is usually where we find the most unclean area. But keep up the good work. We will be back next year! Thanks!

If you want to stay in the same building and get a free breakfast, choose the Towneplace Suites. Tips: - If you stay 5 nights or more, parking can be credited. - If you are Marriott Bonvoy Gold or higher, the gift can be $10 credit each night in the market - but keep in mind they charge tax in the market when considering pricing :) === 2. ROOMS Having stayed in double Queen and single King rooms: the rooms are updated and comfortable. The beds are decent, the linens in reasonable shape. LED lighting is available from the entrance with the mirrored sliding closet doors to the room and underlit desk area, and around the room which includes a couch, small. fridge and more. The HVAC is centrally controlled, though I found there is a switch on the unit that lets the unit produce only heat or only cold. The windows do not open in any way and the curtains are handy to stop the outdoor heat/cold as well as some of the low-level traffic noise. The bathrooms are fine; the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are available in pumps in the shower, but like may other hotels, there are not nearly enough places to hang a hand towel or bath towel. There is a decent-sized LCD TV though there is no digital TV guide available so get ready to keep flipping :) === 3. COMMON AREAS The lobby is modernized with the ability to print out boarding passes. The restaurant area is nice with a small business centre. The pricing is love-it-or-hate-it like all other Courtyards; might I suggest any one of the nearby eateries? The market beside the front desk has a selection of items but they charge tax and/or it's not complementary unlike some other Marriott properties. There are conference ballrooms downstairs along with a small gym that has free weights and some cardio machines. === 4. SERVICE Service is prompt and professional at the front desk. I had an issue with my latest room where in the desk light tube could not be turned on reliably and the HVAC seemed not to cool. They responded right away, but ultimately couldn't fix the light. But at least they tried, twice. === 5. ENVIRONMENT Overall, it looks like the place was modernized in the last 5-10 years. There is a Chinese chain restaurant and a spa on one end of the building. Parking is a little interesting: it's outside along the edge of the property or it's in old, strangely structured parking garage where it's $6 per night (unless you stay 5 nights in a row).

I booked this hotel months in advance for an international birthday trip from the United States…read more What followed was six nights of compounding failures, deliberate misinformation from hotel management. 6 rooms across 6 nights: Room 405 (Apr 23-27) -- Original suite with king bed, kitchenette, and tub. Vacated mid-stay due to a plumbing emergency. Room 414 (Apr 27) -- First replacement. Significantly smaller, double queens, none of the original amenities. Room 201 (Apr 27-29) -- Second replacement. King bed but smaller, no kitchenette, no tub. Suffered a second plumbing failure on Apr 28 and sewage odor Apr 28-29. Room 204 (Apr 28) -- Temporary room provided solely so I could access a working shower. Room 212 (Apr 29) -- Staff physically unlocked this room for me to shower. When I returned, the door had been shut. Staff re-opened it -- and we discovered it was occupied. A female guest was in the process of changing. Hotel staff had twice granted me access to another paying guest's room. Room 203 (Apr 29) -- Final alternative after the Room 212 incident. Had the same sewage odor. Completely unusable. What went wrong: The lobby and pool were under active renovation my entire stay. I wasn't told until one day before arrival, despite booking months in advance. Had I known, I would have stayed elsewhere. The hotel's solution was to bus guests to a nearby Sheraton for pool access -- not acceptable. One elevator was out of service for an extended period. I have a medical condition affecting my knees. Repeatedly climbing multiple flights of stairs was a genuine physical hardship. Renovation appliances including microwaves were stored in the hallways throughout my stay -- a safety hazard and well below any brand standard. On April 27, I was forced to vacate my original suite mid-stay due to a plumbing emergency. Every replacement room offered was a downgrade. At no point was I given a room that matched what I had booked and paid for. Room 201 was placed directly above the active pool construction. On April 28 -- my birthday, the entire reason for this trip -- I was woken at 8:20 AM by loud drilling. Later that same morning, the hotel called to inform me that Room 201's shower, sink, and toilet would be out from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Nearly nine hours without basic water access. Upon returning to the room that evening, there was a sewage smell coming from the bathroom. It was still there the next morning. The Room 212 incident is the most serious failure of this entire stay. Staff directed me to and physically unlocked an occupied guest room -- not once, but twice. This is an egregious breach of guest privacy and safety that should never have been possible under any operational circumstance. When I raised the issue of my 60,000 IHG points used for my April 23-25 reservation, the property manager told me she did not have the authority to process a points refund and directed me to contact IHG corporate. I did exactly that -- and IHG corporate confirmed that she does have that authority. She had the ability to resolve this at the property level and instead chose to send me on a deliberate runaround. That is not a miscommunication. That is a manager using a false claim to avoid accountability. The hotel offered a partial refund of $147.70 against an original charge of $606.92 -- and only before the most serious incidents had even occurred. IHG denied my formal points refund request. Honestly it was a great hotel and we will definitely be coming back. Our room was clean and updated. The breakfast was hot with some variety. It was nice to see the hotel busy with lots of guests and each evening of our stay people hung out in the lobby. Lots of life in the hotel is a good thing! Even with a large number of guests the hotel breakfast was able to keep up with the demand. Parking lot was good. With the heavy plowed piles of snow and the fact that they shared a parking lot meant not as many parking spaces as needed so may need to search for a bit but we still always found one. Other than that no complaints. Our door to our room was funny and the shower made a noise at the start but these things are so minor. We will definitely be back.
