The Best Western in Brawley used to be my go-to but I may be driving a little further out to stay…read moresomewhere nicer next time. Now check in was great. It was easy and the girl at the check in desk was great. Breakfast and the staff member who worked there were also great. And I will say the room was clean so cleaning crew was doing a good job because the issue was more maintenance than anything. The issue was that the room was so old and outdated and the non bed furniture in the room was pretty gross which is why the low score. As I said, all customer service was nice, the only exception was when we asked for 3 extra pillows but were told no, we had enough and only given 1. That did irritate me but I brushed it off (this was a few hours after check In, after we got back to our room after a funeral). We got the suite which is not in the hotel and is actually in a building near the hotel. It is a spacious room but it is sooo worn out. Pillars were rotting and peeling, the rug was dirty and the couch and chair with an ottoman were so disgusting, I was genuinely grossed out and didn't touch them. Additionally, the toilet had a hard time flushing and after leaving some water running in the sink while brushing my teeth, it clogged up a little. Overall, I will not stay here again.

Absolutely not worth the price; comparably-disappointing hotels are less than half the price. Not recommended. Don't fall for the "free breakfast".

Rather than drive back to Palm Springs after the rosary and viewing for a family member, I decided…read moreto get a hotel for the night for my mom and I. I used a booking site to make the reservation. I had requested an early reservation and that was granted. We, however, arrived later than I had expected. The young man who was in the lobby wasn't the friendliest, but he was efficient. My mom asked if he had a bathroom she could use . He told her no. But, he was able to get us our room key quickly, so I was able to get her into the room soon thereafter. The room was fine. The temperature was cool, when we went in, which I didn't expect. I thought it might be a little higher, to save money. Two queen beds, immaculate white bed coverings. Two pillows each. Flat screen TV mounted to the wall. A desk like area with a coffee maker and some coffee fixings. Cups for hot beverages, cold beverages and an ice bucket were on the table. There was a dresser under the TV. In the corner was a tall dorm style refrigerator and a microwave on top of that. The bathroom had a separate toilet and shower. The sink was outside of the toilet. There was a long counter, but only one sink. A metal frame on the wall had a few blankets on top of it and hangers underneath. Attached to the wall next to the frame was an ironing board. The iron worked fine. Laminate floors (more on that later). The door had a chain lock inside, which I appreciated, especially since our door opened to the parking lot. (Each room has a name. We were in the "butterfly" room.) Mattresses were comfortable, but the frames are on wheels. Careful when you sit down on them, as they shifted due to being on the laminate floors. The pillows offered little in the way of support. In the morning, I took a shower. There were these little squeeze bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. These were enough for one shower, for one person. This was a 2-person room. Both of us brought our own supplies, so we didn't have to fight for the little bottles. The shower has had one of those laminate overlays so that they look nice. If you touch any of the walls, you'll hear the creaks. The long interior shower wall had all these shelves in it, which is kinda cool, but the center section sticks out, so if you stand in the center of the shower, there is a little less room. Water pressure was fine. I walked back to the bed to get dressed. I went to put on my socks and the bottom of my feet were black. The floor was filthy, apparently. I was grossed out. There was an ice machine just a few feet from our door. It was working and had plenty of ice. (Sadly, so many hotels don't have many ice machines that operate correctly these days.) This place was a step up from a Motel 6. But, the dirtiness of the floors totally turned me off. Everything else in the room was spotless, though. Check out the Burger and I next door!

I try to stay within 1/2 of that budget but at the same time NOT compromise my health or safety. Places like this allow me to do this, The Desert Motel provided me with a firm bed, clean room, plenty of hot water, free WiFi, secure parking directly in front of my room and fresh towels daily. These rooms also have a mini fridge, microwave and direct tv on a flat screen television. On this particular stay I was working at night, so sleeping during the day was peaceful and quiet as well. I stayed 7 consecutive days with no issues, just quality rest and refreshing hot showers. I can't go without mentioning Janet the housekeeper, she was very thoughtful and friendly, making sure to catch me before or after going to work for fresh towels or housekeeping if needed. Let's keep it real, we get what we pay for. The price for my 7 day stay was very fair and I will continue to stay here in the future if we continue to work in this area. I have no reason to look elsewhere. During my stay I did not experience any bugs of any kind or shady behavior. I have attached a short video of my room.

Parking is right in front of the room. Fairly spacious bedroom, comfortable queen bed, flat screen tv which I did not watch, microwave, mini fridge, writing desk, chest of drawers, even an iron and mini ironing board.  Bedroom in front, bathroom in back so it is possible to have cross ventilation by opening up the bathroom & front room window to keep circulating fresh air that can dilute germ concentration if necessary during the Pandemic.  What I was definitely most impressed about the room is how CLEAN it was. The bathroom tile & ceramics sparkled. No signs of dark  mold stains anywhere.  From the outside, Desert Inn is a nondescript, mediocre motel, but my room was more than adequate. It's not the Ritz Carlton, but the price is right if sleeping there is all you need.  Some guests were longer term, out of town workers who were friendly and hanged out in front of their rooms after returning from their jobs. However, it was surprisingly quiet at night since many worked early the next day.      In a commercial area so Von's Supermarket is across the street. Great practical place for headquartering around the southern end of the Salton Sea vicinity and Imperial County down to the Mexican border. 4- stars

Checked online, all sites said they were fully booked; however, I called and was able to book over the phone a week in advance. Handicap parking are designated two stalls near the entrance. Some douche-wad squeezed their compact car in the handicap loading partition and created a third spot while we were there. CHECK-IN. Quick and easy. Receptionist was courteous and thorough. Had zero questions after she offered the key and provided wi-fi password. BREAKFAST. Free and would normally be like La Quinta Inn with those waffle irons, but COVID limited them to cereal (Fruit Loops and Raisin Bran) served in dispensers, hot coffee, assorted teas, milk, yogurt, whole fresh fruit (i.e. apples, oranges, etc.), and instant oatmeal. Beware, pictures advertised can be deceiving. Not that the place does not look like the pics. It does, but in a worn-down desert kind of way. Indoor pool and jacuzzi were there. Didn't use them, nor did anyone else. It was empty. Solid 3 stars for being a place to rest while in the middle of nowhere. An additional star for holding on to my mom's cane when she forgot it in the lobby, and held on to it until we could loop around and retrieve it hours later. Def will be on our list of places to stay on our next desert trip to Niland, if we are not desert camping.

The bed was tilted and warn out. Couple of times during the night I woke up feeling I'm falling down. Old rusty bathtub with no hot water for showers, ran the water for over five minutes and was just slightly warm that i had to shower very quickly. I called service desk to ask for the reason and Silvia said she cannot change my room, which was unrelated cause I never asked that and also said maintenance team will get it fixed in the morning, perhaps when I checked out of my room! Tried to take shower in the morning before going to work, again water was cold! The lack of basic amenities like lotion was very inconvenient and surprising given the extensive price point. The closest door opens but good luck being able to close it. It was very old and heavy so I decided to just leave it open. Breakfast was fine, decent variety of options which you could choose. But one of the staff was standing by the kitchen door, staring at the guest which was very awkward and disturbing. Like you are eating in the prison and guards are watching you! I will let my company know about my unpleasant experience to prevent booking at this hotel for my future visits.

The owners did an incredible job honoring the desert beauty by restoring this gorgeous Moroccan inspired hotel that seems to nestle perfectly in the heart of town. You truly enter a little vortex, where everything you could need is on-site and within walking distance. The outside world seems to fade as you walk through the entrance doors. We celebrated a birthday as a couple where we indulged in a one night stay, in the King suite, enjoying the amenities exclusive to hotel guests. We dined at the restaurant, ordered poolside foods & drinks, sat by the bar, soaked in all the bathing areas, and enjoyed the little nooks to lounge. We stayed on a Sunday night and felt we had spaciousness from other guests and privacy to fully relax. Absolutely recommend visiting for an overnight stay as the exclusivity of hotel specific areas is a must to experience. The rooms are also gorgeous and minimalist by nature. The comfort of the bed and clean linens after a day of soaking topped it all! Truly had one of the best nights of sleep and wanted to do it all over again when we rose. As mineral spring connoisseurs, we were impressed by the cleanliness and purity of the waters. Truly healing on every level!! Maintenance staff actively were testing temperature, ensuring the waters remained comfortable and well-kept. Staff overall were helpful and kind. The restaurant menu was diverse and fitting for the setting--hitting the spot with flares of Mexican cuisine. The touches of healthfulness on the menu were appreciated. The pozole soup was warming and a highlight for visiting during the Winer season. Lastly, I can't forget to nod the eclectic and cozy bar, where we enjoyed live music and appetizers before our main sitting. The decor, bites and hospitality took us to another time and place. We intend to visit this hidden gem seasonally as it absolutely nourished and transformed our spirit! & Shoutout to Julie who made our stay unforgettable.
