This hotel has issues that are fundamental to comfort, like the bed, hot water, and the condition of the room. The room was fairly clean but very old, small and smelled moldy. The bed was tilted and warn out. Couple of times during the night I woke up feeling I'm falling down. Old rusty bathtub with no hot water for showers, ran the water for over five minutes and was just slightly warm that i had to shower very quickly. I called service desk to ask for the reason and Silvia said she cannot change my room, which was unrelated cause I never asked that and also said maintenance team will get it fixed in the morning, perhaps when I checked out of my room! Tried to take shower in the morning before going to work, again water was cold! The lack of basic amenities like lotion was very inconvenient and surprising given the extensive price point. The closest door opens but good luck being able to close it. It was very old and heavy so I decided to just leave it open. Breakfast was fine, decent variety of options which you could choose. But one of the staff was standing by the kitchen door, staring at the guest which was very awkward and disturbing. Like you are eating in the prison and guards are watching you! I will let my company know about my unpleasant experience to prevent booking at this hotel for my future visits. read more

We stayed here during our motorcycle trip. We were tired after 6 hours traveling in the saddle. The staff were wonderful and we were amazed at what their full responsibilities were. Judith was there working the desk when we arrived. She was friendly, helpful and accommodating. She got us squared away quickly so we could relax. That evening, Celeste Fuentes came on. She is the bomb! She provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants. Or bathroom sink was running very slow, so we called the desk. She was came up to check out the issue, left and came back with a drain tool. That didn't work and she came back again with a drain cleaning liquid. Apparently the maintenance people were gone for the day, so she was doing everything she could as well as being responsible for the desk. She was answering her portable hotel desk phone while helping us out. Talk about multi-tasking! We were amazed that she had to apparently perform so many jobs, cover main desk duties, maintenance, clean up, security etc. I am not so sure that is a particularly safe practice for a young woman by herself at night. But she managed it like a champ without complaint and all kudos to her. Marriott is lucky to have such dedicated employees. read more

It's alright. AC is finicky, beds are a little weird, and even on coldest setting the showers are almost scalding. Also there were small roaches. Internet worked well though as long as you don't try to upgrade the speeds. On the bright side, plenty of stuff nearby for food and such. As well as other hotels, which you may wish to consider. Arrived a little early in hopes to check in early by 2 hours however that wasn't a possibility. It was 117 degrees & I didn't want to leave my luggage in the rental vehicle. They held my luggage on hold until a room was available. While waiting I decided to venture out in the heat & shortly later given a call that my room was ready. The room was clean, cool but had very dim lighting with a broken lampshade. Breakfast was to be expected for hotel but they did have soy milk, yogurt, oatmeal, waffles & fresh fruit. Staff is amazing from front desk to the breakfast. Anything to make your stay enjoyable. read more

I've stayed here for the last 8 years when the NAS El Centro has the airshow featuring The Blue Angels, and the stay has always been good with great staff and very few complications. This time, however, there was no hot hot water for 3 days. We were not alerted to this possibility. When we called the front desk, we were told they would contact the manager. We never heard back. They offered to move us to another room. But at that point, we decided to leave. We were compensated for the stay, and we didn't pay anything. They were very nice about it. I spoke with the front desk, and they are going through renovations soon. We would stay there after the renovation, but I would not stay in the current dated condition. read more

Stayed here as a result of attending the Lights Festival. It is not a super plush hotel but I'm giving it 5 stars because it delivered where it matters. Clean. Comfortable. Quiet. Super friendly service. (Every staff member I passed always greeted me.) Accommodating. When the Lights Festival we were attending was delayed a day, the Fairfield graciously adjusted our reservation at no extra charge. Marriott is my choice of hotel chains whenever I need a hotel. This one was priced well, its in a great location (walking distance to a lot of stores) and its clean. Parking is free. It includes breakfast and the staff were nice. The downside was our room didnt have shampoos so we had to request it and the walls are thin. We were up so late because the people above of were walking around all night and you could hear it loudly. We stayed in a king suite with a pull out couch bed. The couch bed is soo uncomfortable (its better to just sleep on the floor) Breakfast was good and stocked in the morning :) read more

Upon arrival at hotel after driving 500 miles there was nobody at front desk as I continued to stand there like an idiot. Then I had to get out my cell phone and actually call the hotel to get someone to come to front desk. Hotel run down. Executive king suite is a poor excuse for a room. Toilet clogged upon arrival. WOW!!!!! Choose this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay near El Centro. I'm serious. It is CLEAN and the staff is amazing. Let me tell you a story. Me - a mom of 3 young children on an overnight business trip I checked in and mentioned how happy I was it was RIGHT next door to Starbucks (this is enough to make me stay there). So the hostess put me in the room right next to the door to Starbucks, hello, amazing!!!!! I got a knock on the door around 8pm. The general manager shows up with a care package. Bottle of DELICIOUS wine, kit kat, peanuts, and a very sweet, heartfelt card wishing me well on my away from the kids adventure. Seriously - this is the best hotel experience I've ever had. ZERO STARS. I booked a room for 1 night. Check in Saturday and check out Sunday. Sunday morning I decided to extend my stay so I called the lobby and extended for 1 night, I checked out Monday morning at 6:00AM and received an email saying I was charged 3 nights when I only stayed two. The manager Gloria I believe was her name said I refused house keeping Monday morning when I was not even there anymore since I left at 6:00AM. They are refusing to check cameras to see if I ever went back into the hotel Monday after I left. DONT GO HERE. Got assigned to travel down to the area and when I looked it up on the map, I was not happy. Checked out Yelp and was DOUBLE not happy. Read of hotels with roaches, ACs that didn't work etc etc. I came upon Fairfield Inn's rating and some of the ratings were kinda lame, and this hotel seemed like one of the newer ones down there. Called and quickly and easily booked a room. Arrived at the hotel (in the 115 degree heat) and was pleasantly surprised by the area. Lots of new stores and restaurants in the area. Looks like they are trying to bring up the area BIGTIME! The hotel was nice, there is actually a sister Marriott hotel right next to the Fairfield (FYI). Parking was not an issue, tons of it!! Quickly checked in. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Got to my room. I can see why some would say the rooms are small, but they are NOT tiny. I had a king size bed, desk, dresser with flat screen, chair with a footstool, and two night stands and still had room to stretch out. Room wasn't huge, but would not consider it small. Bathroom was actually pretty big. Smelled of cleaner, but that is a PLUS for me, could be alot worse. Only reason they lost a star was there was a tiny amount of black mold in some of the grout in the shower. NOT a lot by any means but hopefully management sees this and gives the maid staff some grout cleaner/bleach. I am a clean freak so don't take any of that as a deal breaker, really NOT an issue. FREE Wireless WiFi that is FAST too!! AC worked GREAT and I did not hear anyone through the walls like others but maybe I didnt have neighbors? Pool was inside BUT you can go next door to the sister hotel and use their outside pool. Very cool option! Breakfast in the morning was very nice as well! If I ever have to travel to this god forsaken place ever again, I will most definitely stay t the Fairfield. P.S.- Lots of places to eat within walking distance! Famous Dave's, Chilis, some Italian place. Tons of places to shop (if you are in to that) and a Starbuck's within a short stumble. I stay in hotels regularly, so to write a review for one in El Centro is unfair for the hotel. But Marriott is supposed to be consistent across the board. The establishment is very scaled back on amenities and grandeur. The bright spot of my stay was the pleasant customer service I received from Edgar. He was polite, professional, and informed. Parking here sucks, especially if you get in late. But at least it's free. Everything else is not exactly what you'd expect from the Marriott brand. read more

The hotel was clean even though they had some construction going on, with the exception of the elevator I felt like I was in a run down apartment building the the worst part of town because they had cardboard up and people had written all over it and it was dirty inside. But the lobby and room was clean. The breakfast is decent and complimentary so cant complain about that. My complaint is the BEDS OMG!!! They were the worst beds I have ever slept on in my life. I'm a pretty avid traveler and we stay at Marriott alot as my husband is an Ambassador Elite member. Our room had 2 queen beds I laid down one bed to take a nap and i almost bounced off the bed because it was such a cheap bed with almost no padding and SUPER squeaky... i thought it was just the one bed so i tried the other bed... it wasnt as squeaky or springy but still uncomfortable. I decided to nap in the less comfortable bed so at might we could sleep in the "better" bed. I felt like I was going to fall through the bed. My husband wrote to Marriott to tell them about the lack of quality in their mattresses but we have still not heard back from them. I dont stay at motel 6 but I'm sure even their beds would be more comfortable then the beds here. I am sooooo glad we only stayed here for 1 night... we were supposed to stay for 2 but luckily were able to leave and didnt have to be subject to those mattresses for another night. Not everyone is a hunter/sportsman Marriott.... my experience was like entering bizzaro land for a bit. The rooms were nice, showers hot, and the A/C cold. The A/C can be very loud [buzzing relays] if you stay on the ground floor. Location is in the middle of a shopping area, with nearby big box stores, interstate 8 and a BBQ joint. You can easily walk to shopping or restaurants nearby and leave the car at the hotel. The breakfast served was pretty good, waffles, boiled eggs, bagels and muffins, assorted fruits, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, tea, juice and milk as well as a few microwaveable breakfast items. So why one star? I was on an offroad trip through the region and booked 2 rooms for the labor day weekend. Just passing through and Marriots are usually the nicer hotels in any given location. First off the staff behind the counter during the evening/graveyard shift have no concept of dealing with customers. One even said to me "I have no idea how to handle this situation, you will have to talk to the manager in the morning", the other person was making fun of customers who were trying to get into the front door after hours. So the hunting thing, Labor day weekend is busy in El Centro, it's open season for Ducks and Doves, and you have a boatload of out of town folks coming in to get their game on. Trucks everywhere and guys in woodland camo everywhere. This Marriott sat up a game cleaning/dressing station at one of the entrances of the hotel with water hoses so hunters can clean their kills right next to the hotel. This strikes me as a tad bizarre You are in the middle of a city shopping area with fast food joints, shopping malls and a best buy and the last thing I expect to see is some dudes cleaning kills right next to the hotel. I mean, what? They're shooting game at the lingerie department at the JC Penny across the street? Talk about lazy, I mean with our family we clean and dress the kills in the field and put that stuff on ice before leaving the bush. That in itself wasn't the problem for me. The problem was the folks cleaning their kills can be inattentive, one guy held up his ducks in the air and spray cleaned them towards the entrance of the hotel, where we were exiting and got sprayed. If it was just water no big deal, but I was heading out for dinner and didn't want to get hosed with Duck/Dove guts and juice. I mean ... god damn, my mouth was open and everything... The front desks response to all this? "It's hunting season.." Like it's a normal thing. I don't see folks cleaning deer at the Marriott Century City.... I mean the staff was completely puzzled at why someone would have an issue at this. Here's a solution spend $500 and solve the problem and make it better for everyone involved. 1. Get a longer hose and move the tables farther up and out of direct line of sight of the side entrance of the hotel. 2. Setup 2 popup tents from a costco, one for each table., You know the ones, the tents with no side walls to act as a sun shade., 3. Weight them down with weight bags. 4. add either a clear or opaque tarp/screen with zip ties on one side of the tent facing the hotel. 5. Get a vinyl banner printed up to welcome hunters and hang on the pop up tents. Because as a stranger rolling into town at night, it looked like people were washing roadkill on the hotel site, it wasn't until the next day until I realized what was going on. Oh, and print up a nice vinyl decal to put on the front doors with an arrow pointing to the side to tell guests that they have to use their room key to enter the front doors after hours. Instead of having someone sit at the front desk grinning while people are trying to figure out why they are locked out, it's not obvious there's a card reader on the front door. These little things can go a long way. I was going to talk to the manager in the morning but I needed to hit the road, so I'll end up writing a letter to Marriott corporate. But in short, if you want to get sprayed by duck guts, stay at the El Centro Marriott! read more

I'm a premier elite customer but it doesn't seem to matter, the breakfast is good rooms are clean. I have an option to upgrade and I've asked to be upgraded to a suite at the Town place, since I'm long term because of work, I don't know how many times, with no luck. Other people that just arrived were moved like on 2 to 3 days after they arrived with out asking to be moved, i don't know I guess you have to know the managers really well in ordered to be moved. Not too many nicer places to stay in El Centro, but the vast majority of the State workers who come here generally stay at the Fairfield. It's adjacent to a large mall complex (with close driving-distance movie theater) and close walking distance to a few restaurants (Dave's Famous BBQ being the closest), making it very convenient for business travelers. Free wifi, and free awesome breakfast, including make-your-own waffles! Don't see that too often at hotels, as far as I know. That and some hard-boiled eggs and oatmeal, and it's a little bit of alright before heading out into the heat to face the day. Rooms clean, beds pretty comfortable, bathrooms very nice, with awesome soap. I feel somewhat depressed that I travel enough to be commenting on soap quality in a hotel, but dammit, it makes a difference! The front desk receptionist I talked to was a little weird but very friendly and helpful with recommending local places. I think he just wanted someone to talk to. Not creepy though. Definitely would stay here again. Especially during double points periods with Marriott, FTW! read more

I stayed at this hotel for two nights for work. I can't compare it to anything else in El Centro because this was my only visit to the city. The hotel is in good working order and clean. Super friendly as is all people we met in el centro! They just renovated this place so we were happy to enjoy the new carpet and furniture and decor. We had everything we needed in our room.* The complimentary breakfast included make-your-own waffles, basic cereals, oatmeal, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, a variety of breads, boiled eggs, yogurt, sugary juices, coffee and tea. The lady who was in charge of the area was incredibly sweet and smiley and asked if i needed anything and encouraged me to eat more--just like mom. :) The dining room also served as the work room with plenty of tables and plugs along the wall and communal table. I also liked that there was a remote so you could change the channel and volume on the tv. I also really enjoyed the fact that the breakfast time had a little leeway-- so it does not strictly cut off at 9:30am sharp. They have an indoor pool and hot tub. I wouldnt go in the pool cuz it looked really dusty/linty. I used the hot tub twice. Good jets and definitely HOT. Unfortunately, the chlorine smell was so strong it was like the room wasnt ventilated enough so i was getting whoozy from it. I can still smell the chlorine and feel the sting in my eyes from it... The gym had new equipment but the room was tiny. I guess thats fine when hardly anyone is using it. The hotel next door is owned by the same people so guests of each each can share amenities. The other hotel has an outdoor pool but no hot tub that we could see. Walking distance to chain restaurants and chain stores. *One pet peeve i'd wish all lodgings would consider: there should be plugs readily available for folks to charge their devices near the head of the beds! Im talking multiple available plugs by the nightstand, in the light base or something! Between two or more people staying in one room, each with an iphone, an ipad and/or laptop, it can get a little tense! read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here while we were in El Centro for the weekend to check out the Mid-Winter Fair. This was our second stay at the Fairfield and we were satisfied with both. Location is great, it's next to a Starbucks and the mall...what more could you want in El Centro! The staff was helpful...minus the maid that ran the little cleaning dolly into the bf, that's okay she was super apologetic. Plus they serve a continental breakfast from 7 am - 10 am...SWEET free mini muffins and yogurts! And for $100 bucks a night it's okay, a lot better then the plethora of run-down motels. The next time I'm in El Centro, I'll be staying here and praying I don't get a loud neighbor like JC did...sorry man! read more

Nice clean lobby with freshly baked cookies set out in the evening. Friendly front desk and housekeeping. Room large, bed comfy, quiet room. WiFi worked well and is free! Complimentary breakfast was very nice with a nice selection. Excellent room rate with military discount. The only slight negatives that I have: No make-up mirror. It'd be really nice if there was a magnified mirror in the bathroom No lotion, just shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and face soap. Lotion is a must. Checked in on a Saturday approximately 3:30pm and checked out early Monday morning about 6am. Pleasant staff at the front and always greeted you when you walked in/out of hotel lobby. Elevators are smaller than normal elevators in hotels. Was on the 3rd floor near the ice machine, which ended up being ok. Wasn't too loud at all. However one night there were kids running back and forth on the floor and it was super loud. The walls are paper thin and I woke up at 4am to the room next to us. The guys there had deep voices and they kept me awake just talking to each other. Great location - lots of food and shopping nearby. read more

This was your typical chain hotel. We booked the hotel as part of a wedding block for a Friday and Saturday night. It is in a good location in town. Starbucks is right next door & the mall and other restaurants are surrounding as well. I will say the price was reasonable, and the staff at the hotel was very friendly. Also, the complementary breakfast was pretty good. There was a variety of breakfast foods to choose from. There is also a decent pool area. Really, my biggest complaint was the bedding. For some reason the bedding kept completely coming off the bed, mattress pad and all. My husband and I had a room with 2 queen beds. We slept in one bed the first night, and a couple hours in the mattress pad had slid off the corners. So the second night we slept on the other bed and the same thing happened. This made it pretty uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. Other than that it was your typical hotel stay :) read more

Honestly this terrible review has more to do with the Imperial Valley's genuine LACK of customer appreciation or care for customer service... we were visiting Family here in the Valley and came from San Diego I realized a trend of "I don't give an F about my job" type attitude from most places we went to... if people showed they cared more about something then I can almost guarantee you that business would be booming in the valley... instead we get these people with horrible attitudes who make US as visitors feel UNWELCOME and UNAPPRECIATED and therefore make us think twice about ever returning to give places like the valley any $$ About our hotel experience... my Sister was actually having a Wedding Reception at the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse in El Centro so we opted to stay at a hotel which we felt had a "nicer" thing going on with it... my boyfriend constantly goes on business trips and stays at Marriot hotels all the time... heed the warning that THIS place is not 100% Marriot they are just using the name Marriot to grab more business (good for them we were dumb enough not to look any further) well when I got into the hotel I was hot and starving I got into the room my Sister, our Mother and her Husband were already in there getting ready for the party so I unpacked my things & was looking forward to some kind of food delivered to my room so I could eat before the party a few hours away... There was no "room service" menu in the room.. so then I went to the Guest Book they have in every room which details their services... there was a clause that read "Dinning:" and it stated that each room had menus for local restaurants that delivered to the hotel & IF there were none in the rooms then these could be found in the reception area downstairs. Well I really didn't feel like leaving considering that the reception area was downstairs I figured they could bring me a menu instead, I picked up the phone to call, realize that the phone in the room (not the one by the bed) was not even hooked up!!! it was just sitting there like some kind of decoration, don't even think it had ever been used! WEEIIIIRRRD so I went into the Bedroom area to use the phone there, called the front desk to ask them about room service or food delivery... the receptionist told me that there really wasn't any kind of room service but I could order food to go, I asked her if she could send me menus for places that delivered... she then told me they were in the reception area -_- haha... can't even send me a menu terrible customer service, I asked he to give me an idea of WHAT food places delivered there, she told me PIZZA No Sh*t?! Pizza delivers REALLY?! I would NEVER have thought of ordering Pizza delivered to a room in any place in tge world! Excellent! Well I felt like ordering something more on the protein side sooo I told her thanks but not thanks & hung up. I was already kinda upset that the phone in the living room area didn't work & was more of a decoration so I returned to fix that part and bent down to hook up the phone in the living room area under the desk and VIOLA a trash can....with a nice empty carton of "Haagen Daas Ice Cream" I freaked out and was like "Did any of you guys eat Ice Cream before I got here???" and Nope... this Ice Cream carton had been here from the LAST person who used this room... WTF?! That's just gross... how do I know they even changed the bedding? Well I started laughing and hooked up the phone and called the front desk again... I told them that there was trash left here from the last people that stayed in this room.. just to let her know that it was disgusting that they didn't take out the trash.... I personally didn't care NOW if they took out the trash because it was there already and we saw it... does no damage control... but the lady insisted that she was sending room service over to take care of it (HAHAHA) which was VERY inconvenient because there is an entire room of people getting ready for a party... soo I told her NOT to send anyone because it was pointless but she did anyway... "ROOMSERVICE!" shouted the lady at the door... sooo whatever I let her take out that 1 piece of trash.... wasteful. That still doesn't prove to me that this room was EVER properly cleaned before we opted to stay there sooo disgusting... but we dealt with it. The last thing I will complain about is that we requested LATE checkout the next day at 1:00pm and housekeeping STILL came to our room 30 min before checkout shouting HOUSEKEEPING while knocking on the door with a room full of people who hadn't gone to bed until a few hours before HAHAHA terrible.. read more

Stayed here 2-29-16 staff is super nice .. I got in late .. Like they say parking is rough it gets all filled up .. But the room was super clean the bed was great .. I didn't do the breakfast but it looked good and check out time is 12 that's awesome .. It is costly ..but I would stay again read more

One of the most pleasant hotel experiences I've had. Upon check in I noticed there wasn't a fridge in the room and I need one to store milk for my infant, so I asked if there was anyway to get a fridge in the room or store it on the premises. The front desk was very accommodating and upgraded us to a suite with a fridge free of charge. Plus the breakfast options were great! Definitely recommend! read more

This is my first stay in El Centro. The Fairfield comes highly recommended by regular travel orders through this area. I found a room to be clean and well serviced as well as area and bright. Individual air conditioning in the rooms are quite nice. I especially like the touch of fresh-baked warm cookies waiting at the first floor elevators after dinner. read more

Randomly stayed here before traveling down to Mexico and was pleasantly surprised. Obviously this isn't the Ritz but if your traveling through El Centro you can expect a nice place to sleep and a tasty breakfast (far more than mere coffee and Danish). Maria who runs the breakfast room ran to get whipped cream for my kid's waffles while diligently keeping the room clean and well stocked. The coffee was delicious too (House blend) The other staff is very friendly and attentive too. My room was clean and I felt that I got great value for my 89.00 holiday stay. read more
