Staff was less than friendly. They seemed more concerned with their current events than their customers. Food came out all of it was cold. It looked and tased as though hamburgers had been precooked. We went there On a Saturday afternoon about 11:30 in the morning. I ordered a steakcheese sub and he ordered a cheeseburger sub. We both got an order of fries. The steak and cheese came out. It was Gray and cold. His cheeseburger sub was also cold. I asked them to redo it. They took the sub out back. I think they made a popped it in the microwave for a second. It came back out still cold so we left. We will not be back. We will also the first people there so it wasn't busy. No excuse for that type of service. Maybe they're in the wrong business. Okay, I gave it a couple of months so they could get things worked out you know up and running. So I've now had a pizza at least eight times from here. I gave it that many times to get it all worked out. I have to say that the toppings are spot on the amount and what they use. But as far as the pizzas go cuz that's the only thing I have gotten from here, there's some kind of problem with proofing the dough or something to that effect as every Pizza I have gotten was kind of doughy in the middle and all the way up to the edge crust but the edge crust itself was almost okay. So this is more for maybe the proprietor to look at that and resolve it and best way they can. So I would have given the pizza a five out of five if they could have gotten the crust or dough for the pizza cooked or prepared properly and as a side note not one pizza I had was ever cut all the way through which is no big deal cuz you can just come home and cut it, however if you're taking the pizza out with the box to like a park or something that would probably be annoying. So in conclusion the price seems spot on and as far as pizzas go I think it could be a really perfect pizza if you can get the dough correct. I'm going to try a couple more times so hopefully this is taking us constructive and not negative cuz I would like it to be fixed as it is convenient for me, lol. read more

My wife and I had eaten here once after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Was probably near the end of summer beginning of Winter 2021. Went in and watched as the wait staff only wore face shields (did nothing for stopping germs). Would take money from customers and use cash register then go and tend to food (NOT WASHING HANDS). Witnessed a lady touching her face, nose and moving her hair to the side then immediately touching food. Upon seeing this, we just decided to leave. Getting past the fact that it was still during COVID, touching the face/hair or money then food isn't good practice. Disgusting really. This is some of the lousiest pizza I've had in a long time. Seriously the gas station down the street has better pizza than this place. We ordered a pizza with mushrooms and onions, and when we looked at it, we thought they made a mistake and gave us a plain pizza. Upon closer inspection we did find the veggies, but they where hardly any. We have not tried anything else on the menu so we can't comment on that, but if they can't make a simple decent pizza I don't hold much hope. Newport House of pizza is a wonderful establishment. The food is wonderful and delicious and the service is very friendly. The dining space is small, same goes for the bathrooms. The selection of food is common for a pizza place. I would recommend this. read more

My husband I are traveling and found ourselves in Newport, tired and hungry. There isn't much to choose from but this place looked promising. The young woman at the counter was friendly and helpful. The pizza was delivered to our table piping hot. The manager came out to see if we were happy with our pizza and we definitely were. The crust wasn't too thick or too thin. The sauce was great and there were generous portions of toppings. If we lived here, we would be regulars. Ignore those nasty reviews made by nasty people. Let's face it folks, your choices in Newport are LIMITED. But I had a great lunch at NHOP. I had a grilled chicken salad with greek dressing (I was kinda hoping for homemade greek dressing like the HOP in South Portland, but no such luck). Iceberg lettuce (not a huge deal at the time) and very tender chicken. Friendly service and staff and a nice lookin menu! Wow! Absolutely appalled! Go there all the time and just dealt with the owner, never dealt with her before. What a miserable woman. Went in with my grandparents and son - we all wanted Hawaiian but my son only eats cheese. We asked for just asked for a little bit without anything, a little less than half she she refused to do it. Said they could only do half and half, I said, "we're not asking for anything else on it, just a little less left without topping." "Nope, we don't do that." I told her I didn't understand, and she tried to make us buy him a whole other pizza after we stated that half was too much for him and not quite enough for us - she said, "if I do it for you, I have to do it for everyone.. When it's busy we can't." Uh - it's just not that hard to do.. Most any place will do it - I've worked in restaurants my entire life as a server, bartender, dish-washer, host, and cook - even at pizza places. I said, "we should go somewhere else that will do it." Very rudely she said, "you're more than welcome to leave." I have never, never been treated like that at a business. Anywhere I've worked someone would have been fired for speaking to us that way. I asked if the owner was around and she said she was the owner. And she let us walk out the door - mind you the place was empty at the time. I guess that's not much of a surprise with the way she treats customers. Great pizza! Crust is not like anything I've ever had before. It is just perfect in every way. It was also topped with plenty of fresh tasting toppings. Service was friendly and fast and the price reasonable. The location probably hurts their business somewhat as it is behind another restaurant but it is definitely worth finding. Nothing but fried junk and family drama. If you actually get your order done correctly after the bickering of the family members, DON'T TIP! The owners claim that the tips go to special events or bonus' for the employees. This is an outright lie. The tip money is pocketed by the owners and not a penny goes to hourly employees. Most of the food is made in a microwave or fryer. You would be better off eating at home. read more
