I am surprised reading all these good reviews for this diner. Ate breakfast there recently for breakfast and although the food was okay - their orange juice tastes like it is made from orange juice powder (if there is such a thing) or it takes like "orange drink" and not "orange juice". It is the worst I have ever had in a diner. The previous time I was there, it tasted to me like they cooked their food in margerine and not butter, so this time, all I ordered was a corn muffin and OJ. I had a great experience last night at this Diner! My friend and I were looking for somewhere that was open and found the diner... Right after being seated our waitress Gillian greeted us with high spirit. we didn't expect the energy she had considering it was past 12 am but it was so refreshing. There are so many option but of course we had to order breakfast which is served all day! The food was great and everything was delivered promptly and exactly as ordered. The portion sizes were also a plus because they were very filling and enough to share with each other. I definitely reccomend the diner and will be returning. read more

We were on vacation and I really wanted to eat some great diner food. I read the positive reviews from Yelp about this restaurant, Towson Diner, so we decided to check it out. OMG!! They must have paid people to write some of these glowing reviews because it was a horrible dining experience for us! I ordered the Reuben with French Fries and Gravy. This sandwich smelled like a combination of a of DIRTY JOCK SOCK and month old dirty MOP BUCKET WATER. Not even remotely an embellishment. My husband had to cover his nose. When we told the waitress, known as Server # 62, she was highly offended and rude and said "no one else has ever complained" and was reluctant to remove it from the bill. She is not qualified to work in the hospitality industry. My husband went right away to the bathroom and said they were filthy, so he was so turned off, he didn't order and was so happy he didn't and quite glib about how he was right about believing dirty bathrooms equals dirty food, also stated by the television chefs. We DON'T recommend this restaurant. However, if you decide to try it anyway, please don't order the Reuben!! DISGUSTING and GROSS. read more

We have eaten at this diner several times. The last 3 times we've eating there, we've all felt sick. My kids have thrown up or had terrible diarrhea after eating there. The others at the table have also felt sick to their stomachs or had terrible gas. I thought it might have been something else the first time, so we tried it again. Second time, just my daughter and husband had issues, so we thought maybe it was something else. However, just last night, we went to give it another chance, but my daughter and son started throwing up just hours after eating. My son had the scrambled egg with home fries and bacon, and my daughter had the kids grilled cheese. Both had symptoms of food poisoning. We will never go to this diner again! read more

Watch your credit cards at this diner! I went to this diner on a Sunday morning. The food was ok, but it was the Waitress whom I had issue with. When we were done eating, I handed my credit card with the bill to the waitress. She seemed to be taken a longer than expected time out of sight before returning to the table offering and explanation without me even saying a thing. She said, " the line at the register was long". Not true, as I was watching the register. Come Monday, I received a fraud alert for my card. Someone had charge $55 at BJs online. Towson diner was the only place I'd been and the only place that my card was out of my sight, and where I felt something in my gut was wrong. Without hesitation, I canceled my card. First thing Tuesday morning, I went to the diner to report what happened. After telling the "Manager" all of the above, he states, "we have cameras everywhere". I said are there cameras in your restrooms? No, he answers. Why would I waist my time returning to report this instance, before heading to work mind you, if there wasn't some certainty that my card info was stolen by this waitress. The Manager took my info and said the owner would be in touch. Well, it's been nearly two weeks and no call yet! Terrible customer service! No follow-up. Says a lot about how Towson Diner feels about the concerns of those who support their business. I will not be going back to this diner and have told family and friends about this experience. Well the coffee was good. Ordered eggs Benedict and it came out swimming in a bowl of hollandaise sauce. If you like that you will love the dish. Potatoes were cold. When asked to heat them up they tossed in microwave and brought back out. Service was poor with few diners in at7:30 for breakfast. Very very salty soup. Couldn't finish it. Turkey platter had a yellow gravy of which they must have tinted it with Mountain Dew to get it that color. I've never seen fluorescent dressing, but they had it. I was eating my soup when my turkey came minutes behind it. The old lady waitress literally took the soup out from under me with my spoon half way to my mouth and moved it far away. Lol. You can't make this crap up! Then when she came back to clear the plates and give me my bill she said "ya didn't eat the dressing!" I said I was trying to avoid such high carb foods and she actually replied to me "well I asked if ya wanted the dressing and what sides with it, ya coulda said you didn't want it". What? Really? Was very impressed with a first time visit. This is a classic diner - you must go there and see the enormous menu, gorgeous layout, huge desserts, endless coffee, cozy booths and all the good stuff of a diner. Brought two little children and they were super nice, gave lots of crayons with a coloring activity, have a great kids menu (amazing, delicious giant waffle! grilled cheese with french fries) . My Greek salad was wonderful, with radish and raddichio, fresh lettuce, lots of cheese and olives, one of the best around - super fresh (I didn't love the dressing, too thick but it didn't need it). My child had to have the carrot cake - which was enormous (and only $3.95 a huge bargain compared to diners in my native NYC). Will be back soon. Lots of older clientele enjoying the food and the ambiance - you should see this classic institution and experience the diner joy. My new fave place for kids. read more

I love going to 24 hours Diners after the club, but I had never been treat like this server treated my friends and I last time! we were a group of 7 we hang out in Towson and after the clubs we decide to eat something. So, four of us were going to eat and the other three wasn't hungry but they wanna join us.., The server never gave us her name, but was skinny old lady. so when she took the order and only 4 of us order food, she didnt said anything but we could see that she got mad. One minute after she came back saying tha she talked to the manager and everybody had to spend a minimum of 5$ if not we cuoldn't stay.. like really!! We try to talk to her and asked her to bring the manager but she dindi't want to talk to us and just threw the menus back in the table and leave us talking. we had to get up find the manager and talk to him about the treatment this server was giving us, obviously the server was lying and the manager never said such a thing, he was very nice to us he apologized and asigned a new server. My buddy and I go to TD every Th and Sa morning for breakfast or one of the lunch specials. If we've been out all day we may pop in for dinner (soup or salad, main course and two veggies). We used to go after closing the bar between 2 and 3 am. Always a friendly place. Nick, Tamara, Polly, Branden, and all the other staff are great. The food isn't high-end gourmet, but hey, it's a diner. Everything is fresh and the baking is terrific. The side salad is amazing. All breakfast items are tops. One complain only: the butter is tiny wrapped in foil pats that are never enough to cover the bread withour asking for extra and when it comes it is a frozen little bullet that is too cold to melt or spread. TD should take a hint from PepperMill and get larger butter pats that are not stored as cold. This is certainly a small deal compared to the overall experience. Try the gyro platter or the pasta on the after five menu! Postscript: They also serve beer, wine and liquor. read more
