Classic diner experience- novel sized menu and a lot of wait staff that don't care - love it!

OK. For the area, parking isn't bad, just awkward. Very hilly and it's a hike to get to the front door. The restaurant is clean, and we were seated quickly. The place was busy, and seemed to be understaffed, as the server was bouncing around like a madman, and our food took a while to come out. The food itself was standard diner fare, if a bit on the pricey side. It took longer than expected to get our servers attention to have the check brought over as well. If it's the only thing open when I'm in the area, I'll go back, but it wouldn't be my first choice. read more

After a nightshift, I find myself coming here with my coworkers. It hits the spot as we're always craving some good pancakes, bacon, eggs, etc.. I can say their breakfast is delicious. The servers are always nice and check on us frequently. The vibes are exactly how you'd expect... very home-like like a diner ! It does seem like the waitress is quick to rush us out every time though. We always get the check pretty early but stay to chat for a bit anyway. Also, I've gotten the pineapple mimosa every time and it is a tad inconsistent. First time, I tasted more like juice. Second time, definitely more alcohol and got me a tad tipsy. I was there on Tuesday April 14th. I had the Greek Omelet. The food was warm and tasted very good. I server never came by the ask if everything was ok. I had to ask for butter for my toast. I had to ask for coffee. I am not sure what was going or why the service was slow. They were not busy. read more

Second time in, each time my orders were incorrect (for takeout). Each time I tipped over 20%- on takeout. Most recently both breakfast sandwich orders were wrong. Additionally the lemon marangue pie seemed old- the lemon curd was hardening. The cheesecake was so bland- I can't believe I'm about to say this- and also needed more sugar (holy crap). I live a block from here and it is an easy, solid, dependable win when I'm too tired to make an effort and don't want to spend the time waiting for delivery. Four of us went for dinner this evening. Mistake number one. Ordered pork chops and requested they be done medium ans slightly pink. They were over done and dry. The only vegetable was broccoli. Broccoli must be the cheapest vegetable in the world because every mediocre restaurant has it. OK, so the food wasn't that good although the waiter, William was. But the piece de resistance was the idiot girl at the cash register. She took MY debit card and rang up my friends check on it by mistake. Then it took 15 minutes to straighten that out. She said she owed me $2 which she gave me. Then as we were preparing to leave she told us I actually owed HER $2. I would have complained to a manager but I just wanted to get the eff out of there. 20 years ago I had a very bad experience here and haven't been back since. But, on NYD we were looking for somewhere to eat that wasn't too busy. Bam, Towson Diner seemed to have plenty of room. I had the French toast bites and a side of sausage. It was the thick diner style sausage (which I honestly wish was available more places). The French toast bites is simply cut up French toast squares covered in strawberry slices and doused in whipped cream. Wow did that make a flavor explosion in my mouth. The French toast was nice and soft inside with a slight crust on the outside. The inside is well lit during the day thanks to the large diner windows. The booths are comfortable. The waitress was prompt, friendly, and got everything right. Now I have another diner to choose from. read more

This is a typical diner that stays busy, and our visit was no exception. The food was ok, nothing really outstanding. My husband went with his standby, the cheesesteak sub with French fries. It was passable. I ordered the appetizer basket, which had 4 deep fried chicken wings, 3 mozzarella sticks, and onion rings. The wings were unflavored, boring as could be-there was no mention of any flavors for them in the menu and the server did not ask if i wanted them flavored. The accompanying ranch dressing did not help much, and the rest was fine. The server did bring some marinara sauce upon request. The bill was just shy of $40,with 1 soft drink. So I just left this establishment. When I entered I was seated right away. I wasn't in the section that I'm normally in. Also I didn't see the waiter that I'm use to. He must have been off or just not work on Sundays. I ordered water and a long island iced tea. The long island came out first and then the water maybe five minutes later. I placed my order for Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream and a side of bacon. It didn't take long for my food to come out. It was nice hot and fresh. I asked for some warm butter but, they don't offer warm butter. The food was good. The restaurant was a little busy but, not too crowded. I have no complaints about the food even ordered an extra order of bacon because I just really had a taste for bacon today. Lol. I was not feeling the long island iced tea that I had. I wouldn't order that again. I guess I should have stuck to my normal.......an old fashioned. Lol. I left a tip on the table for the waitress and she did swing by to get it before I left. Now here is where the disappointment was......I sat kind of close to where you go to pay for your order. I heard the man at the counter ask another customer if they wanted to be a part of a rewards program. Well when I went to the counter to pay I wasn't even offered to be a part of the reward program. I found that pretty interesting. I have been coming to this place pretty often. I'm not sure if this is a program that they just started or not. My problem was that you offered it to the person that paid before me but, not to me. Not to sure how I feel about this. We walked in on a Saturday morning around 1130 and were seated right away. It looks a little tight but we were at one of the tables, not a booth, and I felt like we had plenty of space around us. This place is similar to the other big chain of diners around the Baltimore beltway but their menu is not as large....but still very extensive. Our order was taken promptly and our meals came out within an acceptable time frame. I loved my Greek Omelette and my husband loved his scrapple and eggs! Both servings were huge, a real bargain for the price. We were satisfied. The parking is quite tight there and it's right on a very busy road but if you hit it at the right time of day all should be fine. read more

Honestly a typical American diner. We got an omelette which comes with a side of toast and home fries but we upgraded to a side of fruit and eggs Benedict which also come with home fries. The omelet was pretty big. The eggs Benedict was good with a sauce that almost tasted like just butter. Our server was very nice, quick and attentive. We were there on a Friday morning while waiting for our car to be done at Hyundai. It was pretty busy with a few families and older people. There was music playing. The food was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life. I ask for grits, I'm met with a bowl of goop with charred cheese on top. I ask for home fries, I'm met with raw NOT FRIED potatoes. The point of a fry is to be fried. They were squishy and made squelching sounds as I tried to eat it. Finally, I ask for Boston crème pie, I'm met with LEMON. MERENGUE. Not just any lemon merengue, but one that jiggles and is an iridescent yellow that is most certainly not approved by the FDA. When we said "oh, we asked for not lemon merengue!" Wow, y'all reviewers are rough! We had a great experience at Towson Diner! Service was wonderful! Our server was on point, juggling many tables, she never missed a step. My friend had the Western Omelette with a side of grits. Loved both. Grits were creamy, perfect amount of salt and pepper. No sugar on grits over here! My egg sandwich had a name, which I honestly do not remember. Scramble egg, cheddar, Sriracha aioli on brioche bun. It came with fried onions, which I asked to omit. I loved, loved the aioli! Nice, spicy kick to my sandwich. Home fries were sliced very thin, which I liked, made them crispy. Along with cups of hot tea and coffee, I had a Mimosa....yum. Crown Royal and Ginger for my friend. Both drinks were made perfect. Total bill $52 before tip. Great price! read more

I met some friends at Towson Diner for a late breakfast while visiting Maryland for the weekend. It was crowded, but luckily we didn't have to wait for a table. I opted for the grilled cheese and chicken rice soup. My sister ordered the same thing. We enjoyed our food. It's kind of hard to screw up a grilled cheese, though! My brother ordered a Greek salad, which he loved. Our friend had the steak and eggs. That consisted of New York Strip Steak, two eggs, home fries, and toast. My friend said the steak was a poor cut of meat. He didn't really like it, but he ate it since it paid over $25 for it. He doesn't eat carbs, so he didn't eat the home fries or toast. The restaurant was busy, but it still felt inviting and cozy. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. The bill was around $60-$70 for the four of us, which is fairly reasonable. If I'm ever in Maryland again, I'd gladly visit Towson Diner again. read more

I ordered the veal parmigiana which came with spaghetti and soup or salad. I opted for the chicken noodle soup. I also ordered rice pudding and some rugelach. The veal was huge, two huge pieces that covered the container with lots of melted cheese and sauce. The spaghetti was a huge portion in and of itself and the cup of soup was a nice size. The veal, spaghetti, and soup were all tasty and flavorful. Though it was so filling, it created a second meal for me. The rice pudding was good and a big portion. It was nice and creamy and I really enjoyed it. The rugelach was for a family member who loved it. Highly recommend this fine diner. I have eaten here steadily for twenty years Every meal I've ever gotten has been totally delicious. The menu is huge with wide choices for breakfast, luy, and dinner. Yes the prices are higher now because of the pandemic, but I dare you to find one that kept prices the same. The servers take your order promptly and bring the food in around 10 ish minutes. Me and my friend went here for brunch on a Sunday and I ordered a mushroom, sausage and swiss cheese omelette with home fries and a side of toast. Let me tell you, it had ZERO FLAVOR or seasoning! I never have to or like to add salt to my food, but I had to with my dish and it didn't help at all. Even adding ketchup to my home fries didn't help. Even with the sausage in the omelette it was so bland. The only thing I could taste was the natural slight sweetness of the Swiss cheese; and the mushrooms definitely came straight out of a can! I was so disappointed. The only thing I enjoyed was my buttered toast (can't mess that up haha)....Smh. No thank you! never again! read more
