My husband and I had a delicious meal on Saturday night. We recommend this diner to all our friends and family. My husband ordered a delicious western omelet with home fries. I ordered a smooth glass of chardonnay chilled to start . It was a pleasant way to enjoy the weekend. I ordered a hefty chicken salad sandwich on whole wheat. We also ordered potato salad and a house salad. To end the meal, we ordered two large pieces of strawberry shortcakes to go and a bran muffin. We had frequented another diner and pizza place down the road which we were not impressed by. We immediately returned to the Nautilus soon after. Visited Nautilus Diner after church on a Sunday morning. The place was bustling with business, but we were seated quickly. It has the typical diner vibe but is very clean and modern. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of options. I ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast, scrambled eggs with American cheese, and turkey sausage links. Torn between the regular and cinnamon French toast, I asked the server for a recommendation. She suggested the cinnamon French toast but jokingly said not to hold it against her if I didn't like it. In hindsight, that caveat might have been a red flag--I didn't enjoy the French toast. While it had raisins visible, it lacked the cinnamon and raisin flavor I was expecting. That said, the service was friendly and prompt, which makes me want to return. I'd just choose something else from the menu next time. We have gone here for years on trips to the area. We've always liked it here. The latest trip was not good. My wife had chicken tenders and fries and I had a club sandwich. The tenders and the dipping sauce were horrible. The tenders were tough and looked to have come off of turkey sized chickens. The sandwich was below average. The fries were not brown or crispy. They looked like cheap Eastern fries, not a quality product. The waitress asked my wife if she liked the food and she told the waitress she did not. The owner or manager bristled at the suggestion that the food was subpar---sorry, but it was. Nautilus Diner has been a family favorite for many years. The four of us regularly have dinner there several times per month and each of us has several personal favorites. One of mine is potato skins with bacon and cheddar. So good! Service is always quick, pleasant and accurate. But today Nautilus even exceeded their own excellence. A friend stopped there to get a takeout piece of cherry cheesecake for her brother in the hospital. He was experiencing eating issues among other things and this is what appealed to him. When our friend inquired as to whether this was available, with a brief background explanation, the server said they only had strawberry. But she went to get the manager/owner. Upon hearing the story, he offered fresh blueberry topping, went to the kitchen to make it himself, and insisted it was on the house. This kind and generous gesture meant the world to my friend and her brother during a difficult time. My friend and I went to the a Nautilus Diner in Lutherville. We were both very pleased with our choices. We both had the French Onion soup which was delicious. My friend got a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. When I eat out, I like to get food that I don't usually make at home. I ordered the Greek moussaka. It was delicious! I was pretty full from the onion soup, so I ate half of the moussaka. I ate some today and I will have the rest tomorrow for lunch. The food and the service was excellent. The service was great and our waitress was very kind. The food itself if pretty basic diner food, good but not revolutionary. If you have dietary restrictions I would be cautious as they are pretty strict with substitutions here. My vegetarian friend couldn't sub out breakfast meats from her meal for any other option so she was frustrated. She was told that no substitutions were allowed even under those circumstances. The meal was decent but for the and the lack of substitution ability and high-ish prices (for diner food) I would likely gravitate towards other locations. Look I've been going to this place for a long time and the service here is top tier. They get to know everybody in the area and their breakfast is absolutely great. I do like to stick to a lot of the Greek items because they do an amazing chicken souvlaki and their pita and olives are amazing. The baker who bakes these cakes, especially the chocolate mousse, that actually is in the shape of a mouse, is putting in a lot of extra time and effort into making the most delicious desserts. I have to upgrade them from four to five stars. This is a fantastic local diner. I believe this location in Timonium was the original, and the Crofton opened later, but I am not entirely certain. In the tradition of classic area diners, the exterior and interior decor is reminiscent of 1950s and 60s diners. Updated of course, and comfortable, but still evocative of the Chrome era. The diner has a robust standard diner menu and I could not possibly go through all the options. Suffice it to state that everything we've tried all the menu has always been fantastic. Nothing has ever disappointed or been incorrect. A few notes. If you're going to order takeout, be prepared for every meal and side dish to be in its own container. It's very useful for preventing contamination of items or sogginess etc., but it does create a lot of bags to carry if you have a large order. The breakfast is amazing and that's usually the meal that we get here. We finally had dine in here today for the first time since Covid started. The staff were gracious and accommodating. We changed our minds about table versus booth and they moved us (we at least decided before ordering!) with no hassle or attitude. The burgers are massive and delicious! We are huge French fry fanatics and the ones here don't disappoint. I also enjoy the turkey triple decker (and it travels very well). Last note, if you're going to eat in or take away make sure you leave room for dessert. The tiramisu and various cakes and various pastries are all amazing. I had lunch here today. First time visiting. It's been here for years. Decided to finally give it a try. My server was nice, efficient, minimal talking, checked on me once. Not amazing service, but I have no issues with her. The food however... Delivered practically instantaneously. Wow. I ordered a cheese omelette with mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, and tomatoes. Relatively healthy. The portion was generous, but the omelette had no flavor. I mean none. Zero. I could tell it was in my mouth, but that's it. It was like when you were a kid and you thought to yourself, what if I lost my sense of taste? I guess I could eat all the things my parents tell me are good for me but I don't like the taste of. Now I'm an adult, and I was looking forward to the taste of this healthy breakfast. Nope. Nada. It could have been liver and onions. No offense if you like that dish, but it's not on my list of taste sensations. This omelette could have been that meal if I had no ability to taste anything. Why eat somewhere that serves tasteless food? To top things off, the prices are way too high for simple food. This isn't a chic hipster place. It's a diner. This is not a four dollar place, and what they do for the price you pay is good. Especially the crab cake. I try not to post negative reviews but I'm so disappointed. I visited on a Tuesday night around 8:45pm. They didn't close until 10pm and there were a few tables. When i arrived i was sat, and went to the bathroom. I then proceeded to wait 10 minutes before i was greeted by my server. I was about to leave and when i got up he finally came. I ordered a blt Club with fries and a pickle. My blt came and then the fries and pickle did not. I ate my first piece hoping the fries would appear. Instead, the owners or managers stared at me while they were sitting in their booth. You clearly knew i needed a box as i say there looking around. Still waiting for my fries and pickle. My water was never refilled and my server never checked on my meal. Another server noticed i made have needed a box, and i told him i needed my pickle and fries too. The original server only came back when he noticed i had boxes and to give me my check. As a manager for a high end restaurant group in the city, my advice would be for the management to not stare at patrons especially when you can tell they aren't satisfied or need something. While in Baltimore a few weeks ago with family, we all met for a very early breakfast get together at this restaurant. There was a section reserved for us, and the waitress that we had was great! The dessert section looked great, and the food was ok! I ordered the Farmers Omelette. So everything was looking up about this restaurant, and I was all set to provide a nice review. But as we were wrapping up to leave (and most of my family members had already left), I was approached by a woman that I assume was the manager, stating that someone from our party did not pay their bill. I knew that didn't seem right, Bc I highly doubted that any of my family members would dine and dash, there were about 30-35, and we were all sitting in the same section, and we would've confronted any family member that would even think to do something of that nature. So I contacted the family members that were sitting in a party of 3, as the manager stated. My family members that sat at the table stated over and over that they paid the cashier, and even received changed, and described the cashiers physical appearance. So I went back to the manager and explained to her that they paid, and how they paid, and who they paid. She kept claiming there was no receipt for the payment. So I went to the cashier and stated that my family members said that they paid her, and once I said that, she remember that the table of 3 paid, and forgot to give the manager the receipt. So, needless to say I wasn't happy about staying around 30 minutes longer than what I should have, and playing investigator for a tab that was paid the entire time. read more
