A few months in and we were almost going to give up as he was not making progress. However, after a quick chat with the Sensei, he made some adjustments that may seem little to him, but impacted our toddler and how we viewed each class. I have also seen other parents bring up concerns or feedback to the Senseis and instructors and noticed they do their very best to accommodate and/or adjust based on it. I also love the flexibility of the schedule. Some weeks we are busier than others but it is very nice that there's no need to call in or commit to specific days of the week. The times are perfect as well, especially for parents who might live further and don't get off work until 5pm. Each Sensei and instructor has been very patient, creative, and still fun with my toddler and other kids in the class. Every kid is so different yet they're able to manage the class with various personalities and energy levels. I also love that they do not exclude anyone! It is a safe space for any kid, young adult, or adult to build confidence and enjoy something where they are their own person. If you're unsure which dojo to try, they offer a free trial class so you can observe and get a feel for it.

This dojo is an awesome place for you and your kids to learn Karate from the devoted Sensei. Sensei…read moreDoan is the main instructor for every session. You can always tell he loves what he teaches. The students pay a fixed fee. The good thing is they can come as many times during the week as they want to. Sensei Doan explains how each body shift, arm and leg movement, block, strike, kick in each kata can be used in practical ways. He analyzes kata and extracts fighting techniques from the movements of a "form" (kata). My kids get excited to see how they can apply the techniques they learn in the Katas. They look forward to attend these special sessions of the week. One thing I like about this Dojo is all students come here to learn. Sensei Doan always emphasizes how important it is for each student to concentrate on the lessons and improve his or her techniques to the next level. He teaches his students to respect themselves to earn the respect from others. As they achieve each level of the belt rank , they improve not only their Karate techniques but also develop their personal characters accordingly. We believe this dojo is one of the top notch Karate dojos in this local area. If you are serious about learning Karate or Self Defense techniques, we definitely recommend you to check out this Japan Martial Arts Center (Japan Karate-Do Judo Jujitsu). You wont be disappointed!

I started kendo at Butokuden nearly two years ago, and I could not be happier. I give Butokuden…read moresole credit for developing my love for kendo because of the quality of instruction, positive atmosphere, and incredible facility. From the curious mind who wants to learn more about the sport to the seasoned kenshi, this place is a great place to develop yourself, improve your skills, and have a fantastic time doing so. The instructors are world-class but still down-to-earth, and everyone at the dojo is genuinely nice and helpful, which really helped me gain confidence when I was a timid beginner. And what other sport can you do that encourages you to scream as loud as you can. At first it feels strange, but it's such great stress relief! Along with the adult class I attend, there are two kids' classes that precede it. From sitting in on several of the kids' classes, it is obvious that kendo is great for them because it helps instill in them the virtues of discipline, honor, confidence, and perseverance. The kids class is intense, but I have never seen a group of kids so eager to learn, respectful, and grateful for the opportunity to learn the sport. I can't say enough great things about this place. The people are great and I always have a blast in class. So come check it out!

E-Bogu was significantly cheaper then the supplier in my part of town and the reviews of their products were all very high. The store is really just the warehouse for the website (there is no show room) but they have staff to assist you. I went to the warehouse so I could get the proper sizes as that is always an issue when ordering online, which was a good idea since their sizing chart would have given me a keikogi that was too small in the chest (thankfully the lady helping me immediately saw that and got me a better size). All in all it was a good experience and for the price of one uniform at my local supplier I got two from E-Bogu. When I comes time to get my Bogu I think I'll be driving out to Irvine again.

After a ton of research, we decided to take a trial class at Legacy...and it completely exceeded our expectations! The Grand Master is incredibly hands-on and even teaches the toddler classes (Tiny Tigers), which truly sets this place apart. Every instructor is welcoming, highly skilled, and genuinely passionate. I love that they teach more than just martial arts...they emphasize discipline, safety awareness, confidence, and respect for elders. Every class is creative and different, so the kids never get bored, and it's actually fun to watch as a parent! My daughter comes out happy, tired, and excited to come back each time. She truly feels like part of a family here. We can't recommend Legacy enough!
