The buying process was straightforward, low-pressure, and very easy from start to finish. Since then, I've continued to bring my car here for service--even though it isn't the closest Toyota dealer to me--and I've been consistently happy with every visit. Now that the car is a bit older and requires paid maintenance, I've had various services done here and have even purchased my tires through them. Every service has been handled professionally, honestly, and at very reasonable prices. What really stands out is their fairness and transparency. I've always felt treated honestly, never upsold, and confident that the work being done was necessary and done right. Because of that, I wouldn't consider taking my car anywhere else for service. Do not buy used vehicle ( non Toyota) from this dealership I bought a chrysler Pacifica van. Paid cash next day check engine light came on. Was a Sunday so had to wait till Monday. Brought it back 2 times in 3 days for same issue . Turns out BLOWN HEAD GASKET told sales person I no longer wanted the van please have a manager call me. NOTHING! NO BODY CALLED. After MANY calls and leaving messages NO manager called be back. After van was fixed under the 30 day. 1000k mile warranty (TOOK 18 DAY) I insisted I NO longer wanted the vehicle being DISABLED I didn't feel safe driving and breaking down somewhere. Busy and a bit more expensive than my local Toyota but close to where I needed to be, so came in to do a tire patch/flat and took about an hour to complete the tire patch. They have a waiting space and for car purchases, you can sign in and wait (that actually took a while and I wasn't helped, so I skipped that and checked on their inventory online). Appointments recommended if possible. Service area is busy and once you drive in, you get your info and there's sometimes a glass chip guy, too, working the shop for dings and more. read more

I purchased a vehicle from Toyota of Hackensack on March 11, 2026, and unfortunately, the experience has been extremely frustrating from start to finish. At delivery, I was not provided copies of my sales, warranty, or financing documents and was told they would be sent later--something that still hasn't been fully resolved 1 month later despite multiple requests. Shortly after purchase, I reported a vehicle issue (excessive wind noise within cabin), but received no follow-up. When I later took the car to another Toyota dealership, I was told my warranty wasn't even showing in the system. I was initially told, by Toyota of Hackensack rep, the warranty was "bumper-to-bumper," but the warranty did not cover this, leaving me to pay $800 out of pocket. Infact when I finally got a Toyota of Hackensack sale rep without much investigation he implied the other dealership may have denied the warranty coverage so as to make a little extra revenue Communication has been poor across the board. Calls and messages often go unanswered, and even when I spoke with a supervisor, no meaningful resolution or accountability was offered. The most serious issue is that my temporary registration expired, and despite multiple calls well in advance, I still do not have proper registration--meaning I currently cannot legally drive the vehicle. When I asked if they could extend the registration a few more days as they believed it would be coming soon, they denied my request. Instead, the dealership's response was essentially to "wait" and that I'd be reimbursed if I got a ticket, which is completely unacceptable. Overall, this experience reflects: Lack of transparency and missing documentation Misleading warranty communication Poor follow-up and customer service An unresolved registration issue affecting legal vehicle use I chose Toyota for its reputation, but this dealership has fallen far short of expectations. The absolute worst car buying experience in four decades of doing so and even worse than Subaru of White Plains, which was how I landed in Hackensack who promised transparency and honesty. Gave me the deal I wanted in writing and we signed a contract on a new electric car with both 3500 cash off and zero percent financing 3 months ago to deliver in late May. Well they held 500 back as they said they were losing money on it so 3K off and zero percent. I ordered the car and waited for delivery two days before my wedding. I sold my used car elsewhere nearby and during that deal the salesperson, Liam, who had been perfect up until that point said they could no longer offer the 3500 b/c Toyota had pulled the deal on them and they had no idea until that day that it was pulled. I said I'm coming over and expect the full price off that we signed otherwise they were breaking a written contract and the dealer would have to eat the difference if they wanted a sale. We got there and they had the car with an advertising bracket & the dealer's sticker on it that I explicitly stated I did not want. I told the salesperson we'd arrived and he came to find us. I said I refused to talk to him until he gave me the accurate price by phone. It never happened. I called another dealer that had been quite gracious 3 months ago and they assured me they could get very close on that original price. When I went indoors Liam said they could do $500 off. I said I had a much better offer. I then confirmed with Toyota City of Mamaroneck I would buy from them and went with their deal. They picked me up from my home, got me the exact car I wanted in 24 hours, had an electric expert on staff talk me through it, charged it, and I had my amazing car with zero percent financing and 2K off with kind, ethical, honest salespeople and staff for just over 35K before taxes & destination charge. Wedding was fabulous thanks to Toyota City of Mamaroneck. I knew to walk when games started up. But seriously guys 2 days before my wedding? What a bunch of crooks. The GM at Toyota CIty said the car was off inventory immediately. They sold it out from under me to some sucker for a whole lot more money than my deal. I brought my 2005 Toyota Highlander in for service on March 10 for a Brake job. I sat for almost 3 hours and then said they don't have 1 of the parts to do the job. My wife had to take off from her job so I can get this work done. I came back the next day. After looking it over they found that it also needs a brake caliper, then said I need the rear Brake and rotors and a bad caliper. I had gone to make Mechanic a month earlier and they said the rear was good. But they wanted to charge me $1780. I declined and said I'm going to take it to my Mechanic instead. We picked it up and brought it to my Mechanic and he said the Mechanical key for the lug nuts was missing. I called Dealer back and they told a story that they use their own. I know the key was in my car. Now I must pay an additional $80 to get the lug nuts off the car and replace. They may sound friendly, but after you tell them you're going somewhere else. Bought a certified used Toyota. One of the tires went flat because of sidewall damage. When the tires were removed by the tire mechanic all four tires had the same sidewall damage on the side of the tire that faces the car - not visible from walking around the car. He was very suspicious because the tires had plenty of tread life left. The tires were clearly flipped to not show the damage. Imagine if this tire gave out going down the highway... I spoke with Kat who was less than helpful. Pretty much said "too bad". Would never consider buying from them again. Shame on you and your substandard practices! But the reason of only 4 stars instead of 5, is because I stopped by due to my right front tire deflating constantly, so much so that when I went to retrieve my vehicle in the morning it was completely flat, i had to use Toyota Roadside Assistance to call a tow truck which by the way filled it up with air, it also had malfunctioning TWPS. That evening I got my vehicle back, drove around for a couple of hours and well, the front right tire kept deflating but at least the TWPS still worked. So I had to inflate my right front tire up to 60PSI so in the morning I had enough air to drive to Toyota Of Hackensack. Once there I was greeted by the friendliest valets, José Antonio & Jonathan, they gave me the paperwork to take to Andrea, and Andrea sent me to Paul. It turns out that I had a nail in that tire, why didn't the mechanic find this the day before? I will never know, but that sucked that I had to spend 3 hours for something that I assumed was fixed the day before. I mentioned that it was for a 2015 car, and he responded, "That's the Toyota price, dude." He then transferred me to the service department. I was greeted by a snarky woman on the phone who quoted me $370 to reprogram the $270 key fob. It seemed she didn't appreciate my astonishment and replied, "Why don't you call another dealership?" I bought my car based on their advertisement, which clearly listed certain features, including the predator tube steps, door guard, and a cargo tray with its mat. Unfortunately, when I received the vehicle, these items were missing. I was promised by the dealership that these items would be provided, but after waiting for weeks without updates, I finally learned that the cargo tray was not installed because they claim it is "not compatible with my car." This explanation does not make sense, given that the car was advertised with these features. I feel deceived by this dealership--like they tricked me into buying the car by advertising features that were never going to be provided. Despite having clear printed proof of what was promised, I have been given excuses instead of solutions. They even tried to convince me that these features were not listed on the car's sticker; however, I did not buy the car based on the sticker, as I preordered the car online based on the features that were advertised. I have been extremely patient, easy to deal with, and even understanding of delays that were beyond their control. But this situation feels like false advertising, and the dealership's failure to resolve it reflects poorly on their integrity. Due to this experience, I am now transferring the maintenance package that I bought through them to another dealership. I can no longer trust this dealership to keep their word or provide proper customer service. I want to advise any potential customers reading this review to exercise caution if they are considering dealing with Toyota of Hackensack. First experience when I went there went well. It always goes well when they think they're getting a deal out of you. I put a $500 deposit down for a car that didn't end up working out for me. My sales rep was Melvin. Tight pants wearing dominican looking dude. I messaged him letting him know I was going with an entirely different dealership and his attitude immediately changed. He became rude, avoidant, and ill tempered with every little concern I had. I asked for my refund on the 17th of October of my $500 and he didn't communicate with me until I kept calling the dealership for it. I was told on the 21st I should receive my deposit back. Boy was that false. He never processed it at all. I gave them another call on the 6th about it and was told that Melvin would need to be the guy to process the refund. I let them know of his behaviors and told them I wanted nothing to do with him. The told me I had no other option and that I would need to speak with him. Just know he never got back to me and now on the 11th I got a random phone call from another woman stating they needed my full card number to process the refund. The excuse was the finance department didn't know I needed a refund until Saturday and they are closed on Saturday. Dude it's been almost 4 damn Saturday's. Don't give these fuckers your money. Horrible service from finance department! I have been trying to cancel my extended warranty within the 30-day grace period with Finance Manager, Stephen Rosen, since the first business day after purchasing the car. The extended warranty was sold to us as refundable within the first 30 days if we changed our mind and all we had to do was call to cancel. We decided to cancel after receiving the extended warranty paperwork (which was not presented to us before leaving the dealership), where we discovered that there are tons of exclusions for which the extended warranty does not cover. We called Stephen Rosen multiple times with no answer and leaving voicemails to cancel. Stephen Rosen finally responded via email that he would cancel the extended warranty. It has now been over two weeks and extended warranty is still active, confirmed with SmartAuto Care, the extended warranty provider. SmartAuto Care said they have not received any cancellation request from this dealership for my vehicle. I have continued to leave voicemails and emails to Stephen Rosen and his managers including Steve Escobar and Mario Puentes to provide proof of cancellation and there has been no response. NEVER purchase an extended warranty from this dealership, they are very unprofessional! I will be seeking legal remedy on the cancellation and a full refund. read more

The only thing I wish was explained more before making any final decisions was the optional extended warranty packages compared to Toyota's manufacture warranties. I found out during the second year of owning the 'new' truck, when trying to use the 2yr free service plan which was denied, that the truck was actually used and previously titled to the dealership before being re-titled for sale to me and the second year of the free service was expired two months before I bought the 'new' truck. I was never told that the truck was technically used, although it is allegedly legal for the dealership to sell it as new. Pathetic is the only word for the service at this dealership. I bought my car from this dealership . Its almost a year and a half old. This is a very trying time for me with my business so when they called me for a scheduled Maintenace service i told them that i had to work and that if they did the work quickly i would bring the car in. They gave me a 7:00 am appointment and said it would take about 1 hour but they needed an hour and fifteen minutes to be sure. I arrived about 20 minutes early to be sure to get right in and even then there were 4 people in front of me. At any rate i was in the building within a few minutes and sent to the service associate. While there i observed my car being driven into the service area and out the door into the parking lot. I immediately questioned the women who was helping me and told her that i was promised quick service. She said everything was ok so i went into the waiting area. I returned to the service area at 7:45 to see if it was almost done and saw that the car was still in the parking lot. I demanded that they get my car and the women said i had to talk to the service associate. I asked to speak to the service manager and they said they couldn't find him. This is the second new car i have bought from them and and im totally irate over this. My time obviously means nothing to them. I'm in the service business and i don't think i would have a single customer if i treated them like this. It took them another 10minutes before i got my car back. I'm here for a 10,000 mile service. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. I give it a 3 to be honest because the waiting area for service leaves much to be desired. The chairs are okay, not great. There is a large screen TV. But the coffee machine is terrible. Starbucks - which is fine I guess - but creamer is eh. No milk. There are bagels and there is a snack machine with snacks and soda and water. But coffee is a big part of waiting and they need to up their game. read more

They also hammered me aggressively on my trade-in value only to turn around and sell it for a $7K profit the very next day. The icing on the cake is that 1 week after purchasing my car, I had to bring it into another dealership when I was out of town to find that the front tires were completely out of alignment. When I contacted Hackensack to ask them to cover the $300 in service charges, after dodging me for over a month, they finally refused to do so claiming that it wasn't covered by warranty and isn't their responsibility - "Certified Pre-Owned" must mean something different in Hackensack. Very unprofessional and tricky as others have already stated here. You can immediately sense the unprofessionalism and used car salesman mentality and atmosphere as soon as you step into the dealership. To make long story short, I walked into the dealer this morning with secured and approved loan (not pre-approval) from Chase. Salesman said first that the dealer cannot accept the approved loan email from Chase and it has to be a certified check (totally false). Explained to the salesman that Chase has already sent the loan approval message to the dealer but he (Angel) stated that he used to be a loan officer at BoA and he knows for a fact that dealers cannot accept the loan this way (totally false). Told him to bring out the Finance Mgr and waited for appx 15 min and then simply left this dealership and went to Honda of Tenafly and purchased the same model car there 2 hrs later. As I was walking out of the dealership, Angel followed me out and said he suddenly found my loan in the system and he can prepare the purchase contract now but I ignored him and just left. On 03/20/21, I bought a 2016 Buick Encore VIN: KL4CJGSB8GB748750 from Toyota of Hackensack.  On 03/22/21, I brought the car to a Buick service department in Queens for a Multi-Point Check / DT Engine Diagnostic Test.  There were problems (e.g.  crack on oil pan near drain plug; an after market drain plug (i.e., bolt) had been previously installed, throttle body service, coolant flush, engine air filter, lug nuts missing caps / cracked when new tires rotated, excessive rust around the wheels (as if car had been sitting in water). The oil light indicator was on at 35%.  The Carfax did not accurately reflect the car history. After Buick service department's Multi-Point Check / Diagnostic Test, I immediately drove back to Toyota of Hackensack to unwind the deal.  My original salesperson at Toyota, Melissa Louissant asked me if Toyota were to repair the problems would I still be interested in the car.  I responded "no." I am forever grateful to the Buick service department in Queens.  I was able to unwind the deal with Toyota of Hackensack, due to Buick's service technician's sharp eye to see the hairline crack in the oil pan & for noticing the missing & cracked lug nuts, excessive interior rust on the wheels well. Melissa Louissant was dismissive & unprofessional during the sale process; and much more so when I returned the car; as I sat in the chair making telephone calls to the bank to cancel checks of my downpayment and the insurance agent to void the insurance policy, Melissa had the audacity to come over to me and tell me "you can leave now."  I kindly replied that I couldn't leave without something stating the deal had been cancelled.  She stated there wasn't anything to give me that I had to wait for the VIN to be cancelled & to expect an email from finance.  I insisted I couldn't leave without something.  After conferring with finance, she asked for my documents, finance wrote "VOID" dated & signed the front page of all documents. I wanted to support a black female.  This sales person at Toyota of Hackensack lacked class and professionalism.   So relieved that I was able to unwind the deal! read more

GOOD COP BAD COP SALES TECHNIQUE!!! The sales staff are nice enough but they have absolutely zero input with regard to negotiating price and/or financing. That task is solely reserved for the 3 Throned Goons tucked away and hiding from any outside human interaction as they doll out numbers they unskillfully tap into a spreadsheet behind their insulated bubble. (You can see them on the left as you go get coffee). These are the demons responsible for making car buying a nightmare. They are totally unconscious to any communication or rapport you established with the sales rep. who now starts every sentence after emerging from the cave of impending doom with, "Unfortunately,..." If you think I'm exaggerating, see if you can find one smiling sales rep returning from the pompous finance goons as you wait anxiously for your turn to hear, "Unfortunately,..." We allowed this orchestrated performance to play out 3 times as we were presented with embarrassing offers. After as many discussions with the sales rep and producing ample evidence online to support our claims of prices being too high, rates not in line with federal and state guidelines, trade in values being too low, we were presented with a spreadsheet from the goons ignoring all our evidence with the repetitive response from the sales rep that we needed to put more money down in order to meet our goal.
