This review and rating is of the sales techniques used by Toyota of Pullman. In general, I would rate the Toyota product as a whole and service everywhere else I have been at a 4.5 - 5 star. We are thinking to get her a larger vehicle with additional space, so went to Toyota of Pullman to look at the 4Runners. We pulled right up to the 4Runners they had out and were immediately met by a sales person who was polite, but immediately began to pester me with too many questions. He asked, "Are you thinking to buy today?" I said "No, not today, probably in about 6 months." I then told him that we would like to look inside one of the 4Runners to get an idea if it would be suitable for our needs. He said, "Please feel free to look around," then started walking off. My wife and I tried to open several doors and they were all locked. We then asked if he could unlock one of the trucks so we could look inside. He said, "Feel free to look through the windows." I asked again "could you please get the key or do what ever you have to do to open this truck up?" He then came back to us and explained that it was his management's policy to not let anyone look inside the vehicles unless the customer was planning to buy that day." I said, "You have got to be kidding me?" In my disbelief, I climbed back into my 2017 Tundra and left. Driving a new Toyota and asking about another new one should have been an indication that I am loyal to Toyota and probably an easy sell If you just let me see the inside. I do not think that the salesman was the problem. He was obviously frustrated with his management, but also probably poorly trained. After this experience and reading some of the other reviews, I will not do business with Toyota of Pullman. At this point, if I decide on another Toyota I will go to Rodgers Toyota in Lewiston. Too bad, as I would prefer to do business in my own community. read more

Worst car purchase experience I have ever had. . I came to see a car that was advertised on their web site for around $16,700 as the "Straight to the Point Price." My salesman was great, I loved the car, and the price was competitive. I have excellent credit. But when I told them I wanted to lease, everything changed. All of a sudden the price of the car jumped to more than $18,000! No negotiation on vehicle price whatsoever. It was strictly take it or leave it. I was shown a tiny yellow printout with a bunch of cryptic abbreviations I could barely read. No one explained any abbreviations to me (except my payment amount) unless I pressed for information. When I pressed, I found that more than $1000 in charges for "Gap" and "body undercoating" were added on with no explanation, and without my permission. If I had not asked questions, I would have automatically been charged for these "recommended" items. They finally eliminated Gap when my wife and I were ready to walk out. I paid for "body undercoating" after the salesman convinced us it was important in a lease. I have since found out it is unnecessary. The negotiation process was bizarre. My salesman had to keep making long trips up front to some mysterious group at the front desk who would call his name over the loudspeaker, but never talked with me directly. Very awkward and uncomfortable. Ultimately, I did get the payment amount and lease term I wanted,, so I accepted the car. The finance guy offered little explanation of what we were paying or why. Just "sign here, sign here..." When I got home, I noticed our PO Box number was missing and called back to give him the information so that our documents would arrive correctly. His response was an annoyed "Did you tell your salesman that?" (Yes, I watched him put it in the system) , and after a pause, a reluctant "Yeah, I'll take care of it..." I never heard back from him, and our documents arrived without the address correction. Then they sat me down and coached me on what to put on Toyota's follow-up survey. The staff seemed very nervous about getting anything less than a perfect score. The final straw was that I e-mailed the General Manager with my concerns, and he never responded personally. He did have a sales rep follow-up to explain the pricing. The fact that the General Manager cannot be bothered to respond to a concerned customer speaks volumes about how much they don't value their customers. Stay away! read more

It is our first time to buy a car from a dealership. After a few minutes of bargaining, the salesman gave us a quote and asked my husband to sign a document showing the agreed quoted price. A few minutes later, another salesman came over and showed us a different pricing and the additional warranty and yada yada..We asked about what happened to the previous salesman's quoted price. The new salesman said that the other salesman is new and he really didn't know what the car was worth. They tried to offer us financing, additional warranty and other stuff which was really unnecessary because they didn't keep their end of the bargain. They were not true to their word. The worst car buying experience ever! They are crooks and they lie non stop. After I purchased my car from them which I wish I never did, for 4 weeks now they have been contacting non stop to get Information I already have given them. My license, my insurance more pay stubs and so on. It's one thing after another. They were do to a touch up on the car also and it looked like garbage and there response was "you should have bought a new one than" The sales people at the lot are horrible!!! As a first time buyer buying a car was overwhelming for me. But this Toyota dealership make buying a car a great and exciting experience. Everybody in there is well spoken and very kind. My salesman Matthew Alvi had a lot of knowledge on all the different products. I was confident that the he put me in the best car to meet my needs and budget. He gave me the car of my dreams! Take your car elsewhere so that you can save yourself the hassle of dealing with these shady people. Bought a car here a few weeks ago and had a terrible experience. If I could have found the vehicle I wanted for the same price elsewhere I would have taken my business elsewhere, with a swift slam of their door. Found the vehicle i wanted online at Toyota Pullman. Wrote email to salesman I had spoken to previously about a different vehicle, explaining that I wanted the vehicle and wanted to talk pricing. No response. A day or so later I call and schedule appt to see vehicle with the salesman who didn't respond to me. I show up and wait in the waiting area for far too long as no one offers to help me. Finally someone decides to give me the time of day--the salesman had been sitting there playing on his computer the whole time when he could have been looking for the person he was supposed to be meeting. I agree to purchase car. Am preapproved for the loan, but Toyota Pullman doesn't like that and tries to get me to run credit again through them. I deny and they make me fill out paperwork anyway so they can access my loan docs "in the system". My bank had told me that all they had to do was send over the purchase order, simple as that, but that's not what happened. After 3 hrs of dealing with them, I finally get to sign some paperwork and go to leave. The car has had a low tire pressure light on the whole time. I demand that they fix it. They say they can't because no one is there that can right now. I say, give me the air compressor I'll do it. They tell me to come back tomorrow. I put up huge fuss, but what can I do? I come back next day to find they sold me a vehicle with 13/33 psi in one tire due to nail in tire. As I'm sitting in the waiting room while they fix my tire, I hear them talking about me in the sales area. Upon investigating, I find they are having issues finalizing my loan paperwork. Fed up, I tell them I will go get them copies of the loan docs i have already turned in from my bank. I do and immediately email them to salesman. I then get an angry call from the manager of the dealership threatening to take the vehicle back from me because it's not paid for. Sorry mister, you are rude and that is your problem--why did you send me out the door with a vehicle YESTERDAY that wasn't paid for? Especially when I have done EVERYTHING to make this sale for you. Oh, and come to find out, all my loan stuff was fine, he hadn't talked to his salesman. The service people were nice, but that was the only decent part of the whole ordeal. read more

I an very UNHAPPY with them also donor want to see them again because they put all of their efforts to cheat me. They also told lie for many of my questions. I bought the car with them but i had to make a claim because later I found that they sold me a certified car with the defect . They never admitted that it is their fault and apologized with me but tried ti hide their mistake by showing me stupid and unbelievable evidences. Beware! When my 2005 Prius couldn't be repaired (or so I thought at the time), I bought a 2013 Prius with about 13,500 miles on it. I had test driven it and looked it over, but I made a big mistake: I did not check the tires. I assumed that a car with only 13,500 miles would have tires with the same low mileage. WRONG! THE TIRES FAILED WITHIN 500 MILES! When I called the dealership and objected, the sales manager said, "I checked those tires and they were OK." I believe that when he sold me the car, he should have told me how old the tires were. In spite of my persistent complaints, the dealership alleged that they are not responsible for the tires. So be very cautious when you buy a used car from them. Check the tires to make sure they have the same mileage as the car. Then you might as well go ahead and check the battery, the radiator, the brakes, and all the other parts of the car, just to make sure that they haven't been replaced with older parts. Like so many others who have reviewed this dealership, I will never do business with them again. read more

I was in the other day with my friend. She was having her car serviced. While waiting there was a woman in the office yelling at another employee, she was so loud and rude we had to move from in front of the cashier office. This woman continued to yell at this employee, telling him that he needed to "pay attention to how I have things in the folders" This is not the first time that I have been in where I have heard this woman yelling. I just feel that if you are in a place of business you would be kinder. Well I was in once again with my parent this week and the same woman was yelling again at the same employee, however she was yelling at him from her desk and he was down the hall, I felt so bad for him, being called out like that in front of people. I have learned not to sit in front of the cashiers office. However the people in the service department We're great!! The cashier was very sweet and professional. I am giving 3 stars because of the lady yelling. read more

I bought a brand new RAV Hybrid from these folks. I was well aware of scams and add ons so I was very careful NOT to accept any of the "extras" they tried to push on me. After declining the first warranty, they tried to slip in a cheaper one, which I caught. Then they tried to skip the deduction of my rebate, which I caught. When we finally agreed on a price, I then had to wait a REALLY long time to sign the contract and did not catch the inclusion of an added "$500 undercoating." (Which my salesman had previously told me was not an add on because it had already been done. -- no extra charge.) I signed, went home and realized I had been scammed this amount. When I went in to see them they told me that they had given me the wrong car (different VIN #). They had me sign new papers but did not give me any copies of a new contract with correct VIN. When I asked for proof of my new VIN's undercoating having been done, they could not provide it. The General Manager then asked his Service guy to produce proof and he literally invented a fake work order. These guys at best are sloppy liars and at worst are predatory. I went here to get my oil changed last month and will never go back. I just ended up stranded on the side of the road because they did not check my coolant or anything else for that matter. I ran almost completely out of coolant and after fixing that problem we discovered their "mechanics" had left an empty oil container inside next to my fan and belts! I did not get a sticker on my window to tell my next service date, and they did not rotate my tires like they had said. I would not recommend going here at ALL! read more

I called the Service Department shortly before closing stating my daughter (WSU student) had problems with the engine cutting out. They accommodated her the next day upon opening and provided shuttle service both ways from Pullman. The service department solved the problem which happened to be a loose battery connection and conducted a thorough inspection of the vehicle. They charged us nothing for this service. My garage on the west side would of at least charged us an hour for their time. My daughter was able to confidently safely drive home to Edmonds. I really appreciate this type of service and it is comforting knowing we have a place we can trust during her final two years at WSU. This last Sunday I decided to make an appointment online with James of Toyota for an oil change and two basic recall notices. Upon arriving on Tuesday at the designated time, the desk reception clerk was friendly, but when I mentioned my appointment he had no idea what I was talking about. He then said that the job would likely be done by noon the next day - no problem. Three days passed and still NO word so I called them, desk clerk was once again friendly, and apologetic, explicitly stating that he would call me by noon with an update, and the job would be done by the end of the day (they were waiting for a part to arrive). It has been an additional two days, still no word from anyone at James Toyota - stil without my car. This has been the most passively abusive experience I have ever had with a car dealership and I thought everyone should know to be careful - things are not working properly at this place. read more

The worst place EVER. Do not go here if your life depends on it. They will take advantage of you, if you work hard for your money they will absolutely take you for what you got. DO NOT GO HERE. I work for a shop in Moscow and I have had 5 people come in with their quotes from Toyota of Pullman. They are over priced, they have items on the estimate that do not need replaced. Instead of letting you know of Preventative Maintenance they just try to bill you for it instead of giving you options. You cant trust these people. I am young, i did not have any one come with me to look at the 32k car I bought. They took absolute advantage of me. Please don't be as foolish as I was going through the process. I trusted these people to sell me a car that was worth the money, and they did not. I had throw away tires on my car, because of these crap tires I got in a wreck on the snoqualmie pass. No i did not check the tires I did not even think to do so, my father is passed. I do not have some one that was there to check everything, they took full advantage of my situation. My husband and I have been looking for a new car for a while and thought we had found the one online. So we headed over to Toyota of Pullman today to test drive it and one other vehicle and to ask some questions about financing, trade-in value, etc. You know, the usual stuff you ask before you drop 20 grand on a car. We weren't trying to shop around and had basically already decided to buy the car we saw online but had some errands to do and weren't quite ready to buy TODAY. We were quickly helped and were able to test-drive both cars no problem. I think the salesman could have been a little more knowledgable but whatever. The problem came when we sat down to talk about financing. First off, he kept asking,"So, can we earn your business?" and I said sure fine, but thought it was weird that he kept asking. Then he wouldn't give us a price on the car we wanted, but would only ballpark it at "high nineteens", which at least a thousand more than it was listed for online. Uh...? We had two cars to trade in, one of which was at home in Moscow and he kept trying to make us go get it even though we had already said we had errands to run afterwards. The car we drove there we submitted for inspection before we even started the test drives, and he kept leaving us for 5 to 10 minute periods to "do a walk-around" and "drive it into the shop", but would never quote us a price on any of our cars. Then he sent another salesman over who also asked us if he could "earn our business today", this after sitting around for about half an hour and getting no answers to any of our questions at all. Finally I just asked for my keys back from the second salesman because I was worried they wouldn't let us leave without buying a car! Eventually, the first salesman came back and told us that "his boss" wouldn't let him tell us the trade-in value of either of our cars or the car we were interested in because he knew we would go shop around and leverage the value of our trade-ins. THEN he said that if we weren't going to buy TODAY that he wasn't willing to put the work into giving us an estimate of our monthly payments and we should come back when we were ready. Basically was like, "GET THE F**K OUT." Well, jerks, we were ready to buy, but I'm not going to buy something if I don't know how much it costs. I'm sorry if shopping around hurts your feelings but it's a free market, and we weren't even trying to do that. We wanted your car!!!! To say the least, this was not a good experience! After buying the car I picked, I got less than I expected from my trade, Paid more than the new one was worth and and way to much for all the ad on's that Joe told me that I had to have for the CU to finance me. I'm sure he told me this because I 'm a woman & wasn't aware of this dishonest practice. You do not need to pay for a service plan for the CU or any other bank to finance your new car! This was an outright LIE! You can have you new car's oil changed any place you like. This is just another Money maker for this dealership. Now after I drove my car for awhile I decided that I wanted something different so I went back to talk with Joe and he tells me that the car he just sold me 2 months ago for $19000.00 is only worth $14000.00! REALLY~~? So Joe tells me it's a seasonal thing??? After 3 attempts to get a trade that I wanted I've given up. I'am upside down in this car $4000.00. SO I suggest that if you are in the market for a new car~~Check the value on several web sites (True Car), to make sure that your small town dealer is not taking you to the cleaners.The sales manager treated us like we were less than important and made no bones about the fact that they were there to make a profit at any cost! By the way, they will add Gap insurance on every sale because they know that if you wreck the vehicle out the gate ~ you paid to much to start with and so they add the gap as another $ maker!!!BEWARE read more

I called this dealership on 2/2/15 at about 1500 and asked about the 2000 Ford Expedition they had listed online. I was told the price was $9995 and there was about 120,000 miles on it. The salesman told me he would email me the information. By 0845 on 2/3/15 I hadn't heard anything so I called the dealership again. Chris, the salesman I spoke with, said the vehicle was about $8000 and had about 118,000 miles on it. At about 0915, I received an email and call from salesman Phillip Getting with the previously requested information. The email said the vehicle had gotten new brakes and was listed for $10900. At 1530, we called Phillip and asked about the price. We told him we had $6460 to spend and that had to include tax and licensing. He asked about financing and we said no. He said he would speak with his manager and call back. When he called back he asked how soon we could be there. We explained that we live in Spokane and would not be there until almost 1900. We clarified that the price was going $6460 out the door and he said yes. We drove from Spokane to the dealership. Phillip had left, the vehicle wasn't ready to be driven and no one would honor the price that we were quoted. The vehicle was not in the condition I was told it was in either. When I told them I would file a complaint with the BBB, they said they didn't care, they weren't members. They refused to let me talk to the general manager and the sales manager told me they would not honor the price I had been quoted. I am very concerned about the way this dealership is representing Toyota. After I left, I looked at reviews of the dealership online and this seems to be a common theme with them. I have already filed my complaint with the Better Business Bureau and told all of the family and friends that live in the area about the experience. I also lodged a complaint with the Toyota corporation. read more

I bought a pre-owned car from Toyota of Pullman. I take care of my disabled sister. We needed a vehicle for dr appointments & just to get my sister out of town once in awhile. I am 52 years old,and thought I could see a con. But I have never been so mistreated & ripped off. I am beside myself, I was lied to, taken advantage of & threatened with arrest & jail because I attempted to return the car 2 days later. I was told I wouldn't pay above retail blue book. I was charged $1,600 over! I told them the vehicle was for a disabled person and that went unheard! This was my sister's money and it was every dime she had. I was told the car was checked out top to bottom. Since then they have had to fix a burnt out headlight & door lock. Issues they refuse to fix are hood hydraulics, blown speaker, burnt out tail light & cracked headlight cover. I don't believe the car was inspected. I hope this complaint lowers their rating. They are so dishonest they should not be in business. Of course, I blame myself for wasting my sister's money. Just never thought a salesman could lie so well and would cheat a disabled woman. I sure hope they feel good about themselves! Anyone considering of buying from them should look elsewhere! read more
