My husband and I went out car shopping. I was so happy about getting my car, every car I went into they smelled disgusting. They smell like food that had been there for days. When I walked into the building there was an really ugly smell. The sells man had told us "they had a cafe if we were interested in getting anything we were more than welcome to." I walked towards the cafe to see what they had, but right away I was iffy about it. The cafe looked dirty, smelled ugly, looked like everything just sits there for a long time. Seems to me like they might even have roaches and rats. I don't know the place just seemed really ugly and dirty. I never seen a car dealership with a restaurant. Didn't think was a smart idea just makes it seem like they are so greedy and looking for anyway to make extra cash on the side. Don't mind that but at least keep that kitchen clean or make it look good, if you expect people to buy from there. Needs alot of work nasty part of it felt like when I left that place my hair and cloths smelled like oil and food. Don't think the cafe is necessary if it cant be maintained.Service also took to long was very disappointing that the sales man also made us feel like we were wasting his time. Left that place and went off to Charlie Clark Nissan and got my amazing Nissan Versa love it. By the way try and keep the floors clean to. coffee,soda, and chocolate spilled all over. and restrooms too super dirty. Place smells like a dirty restaurant. I have not yet liked the service department. I believe in what is right and what is wrong (nothing in between). When you take your vehicle for a tire check, you expect for them to inspect the four tires and not base off on what you visualize. Before, I went for a road trip I trusted Hyundai of Pharr service department to completely check my tires and they assumed that the front tires were the only ones that needed attention. As a result, I had a blowout to one of the back tires. if they hadn't been lazy and neglected the fact that the back tires also needed attention, my car would have been fine and with no accidents. When I called to complain, all I got was we need to check what actually happened. Personally, I am thankful that nothing else happened to me nor someone else on the road. overal good service however, we had some damage to our glove box and were told that on top of the cost of the box there would be a $400.00 installation fee and that it would take three days. We got home and our neighbor removed the glove box by removing 3 screws it took under 15 minutes to both remove it and replace it. this didn't match $400.00 and three days. Don't buy any "extra" maintenance plans! The service department is HORRIBLE! You're better off saving your money and do your oil changes elsewhere. They don't understand that when you make an appointment, you should expect them to keep it. I had my appointment at 7:30am, I showed up at 7:20 and they tell me my truck won't go in till about 8:00am because of other customers that got there before me. What!?! Then why tell me to get there at 7:30? I could have been a walk-in at 7:00am! There is NO structure for appointments. They take everyone in as walk-ins and take a minimum of 3 HOURS to get you out. Horrible management horrible service horrible wait time! I complained to manager and his response was to tell me, "well there's a dealership in Harlingen that you can go to." Which pretty much translates to...WE DON'T CARE! Avoid their "lack of" service department! read more

I brought my vehicle to frank smith Toyota for a complete diagnostics. I explained the problems I was experiencing with my vehicle in great detail to a service representative. The service representative did pay attention or listen the problems that I experiencing with my vehicle. I had to bring my vehicle back three different occasions before they figured out what was wrong. If the representative listened to me the first time this would not have happened. I felt disrespected as if I was a child and I didn't know what I was talking about. Everything I explained to representative was exactly what I told him when I brought it in the first time. Where to Begin? First I went to this dealership back in February to purchase a vehicle for my girlfriend and but an used 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer the sales guy we had was awesome Charlie even the Sales manager and finance team was great. We had needed to have the first service done that's when everything went downhill. The service appointment was horrible my girlfriend went to get the oil change and they told her that she must go to the Mitsubishi dealership even though we was told during the sales process that the vehicle can be serviced at Toyota of Pharr. Also we bought the Toyota total care package that covers that routine services. So she ask for a manager and the service manager agreed with the service clerk so I had to go there for them even to do oil change which is ridiculous. I have never dealt with a dealership that has a horrible service department in my years of buying a car. I was so surprised that the service department was so terrible four times before I could an oil change. Also the collision department is horrible as because a car wash malfunctioned while washing the car and she was told that this isn't a Toyota so they can't check out the vehicle. Once again I called to explain that auto body techs aren't trained on a specific brand of vehicles like general mechanics. Then my girlfriend went back and the collision center manager told my girlfriend that we are not mechanics so I can't look your car. At this point I was furious so I called and again to talk to him and finally gave checked the vehicle out. I will tell you based on this experience I will never purchase another vehicle from Toyota of Pharr again. Also I purchased products that I can't use because the vehicle isn't a Toyota even though it clearly states all around the dealership that we work on any makes or models but this is a false statement. I'm very disappointed that USAA car buying service has this dealership on their website but it will be removed. I feel the dealership shouldn't sell used cars unless there are Toyotas since the service department only knows how to work on them. read more

Too my Toyota Sienna 2011 for service on an A/C issue. Took them 2 days to find the problem: Some air mixer servo module. Repair quote: $500.00 for the module, and $2,000.00 for labor. I asked how long it'd take to get fixed, and I was told it'd take "one whole day". I asked how much is their hourly labor rate, and I was told they don't charge per hour; they charge per job done. I think this labor quote is ridiculously expensive. I'll just take my vehicle somewhere else. read more

I went in for a recall update. had made the appointment days before the person told me it was going to take about 20 due to just being a computer update. I planned a day with a 1to2 hr. delay at the dealership. when I get there the technician tells me is going to take about 2 hrs. Ok then after about 1 hr. their system comes down they notify me at the waiting area so it was going to take longer. ok I asked for a service to take me to where I was going to conduct my business for about two hours. they said no problem we will pick you up when you are ready. when I was ready I called several times and they kept telling me they were going to cal me. they never did. after several calls talking to different people the technician calls me that my truck is ready. that's when tell him I have been waiting 3hrs. for your service to pick me up!!!! and I am still waiting... his excuse was that every time I will call the attendants were putting my request under other papers. Really!!! I was so disappointed and disgusted about their service that after being there form 9:20 am till 3:00 pm I just wanted to go home and forget about Frank Smith Toyota Pharr Tx. I will look for a better place to service my vehicle in the future I don't mind driving a few extra miles for better service read more

My In-laws (80+ yrs old) Bought their 2006 Prius new at Frank Smith Toyota. All service on this vehicle has been performed by this dealership. I have not been involves with any of it until now, but this thing has started to go wrong. My father in-law lost one of their remote key fobs for this car, and ordered a replacement from Frank Smith. The key was available and they called for him to come in the very next day. He got there, paid for the replacement fob and had to set up a service appointment to have it programmed. He came in for the programming and I am not sue what all went wrong, but when he left, he had paid for the programming and the key did not work. That is when he and my Mother-in-law ask me to help. We made a new service appointment and went in with the inoperable fob. Alex, the service coordinator(?) Saw my father-n-law and sais we already did this. I explained that the key still did not work, and they took the car into the service area. We left for a couple of hours and returned and waited a little while longer and then Alex informed us that the new key (fob) was defective and he had already ordered a new one. We went in this morning, and left the car again for a few hours and returned to the service counter. Alex told us that it did not work and that they have ordered a new scanner for the programming. I asked if he meant a new programming tool for the service area and he said "No, the one for the car". He said it should be here tomorrow, did we want to leave the car over the weekend or come back Monday. We agreed on Monday so the folks would have a car for the weekend. My father-in-law and I are both retired, and one more excuse to get out for breakfast is never bad news. But I am retired from the automotive industry after 45+ years. Over 30 of those years were in the quality department as a manager at Tier 1 supplier level. Admittedly, my experience is not directly with electronic components, but have been involved with testing and certifying them prior to delivery to the assembly plants. I have looked at on line DIY type blogs and videos regarding reprogramming this fob. All agree that remote entry and main system function (manual, with fob inserted into dash board slot) can be programmed by performing access code steps and allowing the car to complete this process. These forums also unanimously agree that remote key activation for the main function (on board computer, ignition, etc.) requires a piece of electronic equipment available only at Toyota dealerships. We are going back next week to try this again. At this juncture, I have some concerns that this is not being taken seriously by Frank Smith Service Team. I think they didn't know the procedure the first time, and did something to the replacement fob "partially" programming it. I am not confident the second key fob was ever a reality and I think the tried to program the same new key fob again today and finally... There is no way the car needs a new "scanner" to fix this problem. The problem remains a lost key and a replacement for it. Regards. George B. read more

purchased a used car and an extended warranty....10 days later I get a call claiming there was a mistake on the original contract...a misspelling is what they told me....I notified my husband and he confirmed it with the salesman that sold us the car...so my husband didn't feel he needed to show up.....he just told me to go ahead and sign the new contract...the next day my husband decides to look over the new contract and it didn't have the extended warranty....having bought a high performance car from frank smith, the extended warranty is what sealed the deal....within one month the car wouldn't start....the a/c broke and the car had a lot of electrical problems.....don't trust them at all read more

The service was great!!! Arnold White salesman treated my wife and I at its best. I asked for tints and and a buff on a 2015 corolla to close the deal and he got it for me. The tints were done quickly and correct. The buff was asked for by me since the 2015 corolla with 24 miles had a few minor scratches from who know what. Arnold set up the appointment for me and I dropped off the car in the collision Dept. The collision department however did fail to meet my expectations. My wife dropped of the car and pointed out to them some of the scratches to be removed. They did go ahead and remove those and washed the car a second time which was good but I spotted a few other scratches that they could have removed but choose not to and instead simply did the minimum. I went in with full intention of buying a vehicle, left without purchasing anything. Here is why. (Early 30s couple w/ 1&1/2 kids, fair/decent credit score,earning 100K+ a year) -the original salesman we spoke to was unavailable so he was substituted with a less savvy salesman. -we narrowed down our choices to 3 similar vehicles with help of the salesman but prices were only partially discussed for the most expensive vehicle. Big waste of time. -when the finance guy was brought out it was close to 8pm, we arrived at 4:30. It was more than apparent that the dealership was unwilling to work with us because they wanted to leave for the day. -an outrageous monthly payment was put on the table despite setting very clear and stringent parameters early during the process. We are not/were not interested in purchasing something we are not happy with. -the price of the vehicle was never broken down and explained to us. They just expected us to accept that the vehicle cost 48K+ without an explanation as to why it was priced as such. -again no reasonable effort was made to negotiate the price. their offer was made and was firm and when we said that it was too much they basically said thank you for your time got up and left. No negotiating or other offers on our other selections were offered. The time spent searching the lot for 2nd and 3rd choices was a waste of time. Its clear that Frank Smith Toyota does not need our business which is why we will refrain from purchasing from them in the future (or at least till they earn our business back). I suppose with a dealership as large as yours you do not need everyone's business, much less to offer or practice respect of potential buyers. Pretty arrogant by any standard. I do not believe that Frank Smith, his family, or any of his employees would expect to shop at a place where they treat the costumers like children and dismiss them as such. This event probably wont reflect well in their JD Power customer satisfaction survey. If I were a secret shopper, your dealership would/will have failed. read more

honestly i didnt know i was being haggled till i got haggled.. went in to the dealership with my husband and two children looking specifically to trade in my mazda and purchase a 3 row used 4runner... Well apparently they did not have any with 3 rows so they said... and were trying to get us to purchase a brand new 4runner way more than a price we are able to afford on one income at the moment, and kept insisting we get this new and suggesting they were giving us such an amazing deal. WE LEFT. TWO days later i decided to check the website to see if they received any more 4runners and to my surprise found a 3 row used 4runner about $10,000 less than the new one they insisted i buy... luckily someone called me from the dealership after i expressed interest and my first question was "how long has this vehicle been on the lot?" his answer.. 3 WEEKS!! so obviously we were lied to he was in shock as much as i was. We may still do business with them but definitely with another Sales person. read more

I recently took my car to Frank Smith Toyota to have my Toyota Matrix repaired that had been in a bumper to bumber accident. I chose to bring my car here because they are certified and I thought that my car would be repaired proffesionaly, but this was not the case. they kept telling me my car would be ready the next day and that they would call me to pick it up. I never recieved any calls from anyone. I was continuesly lied to. then when I finally pick up my car I notice a long scratch down the side that was not there. They say no big deal bring it back tomorrow it will be fixed in 1 hour. Again that was not the case it took all day. then when I get home I notice that instead of them repairing the bumper properly they just glued it on. What kind of proffesionals are these people. I am very unsatisfied and I will continue going over heads untill my car is repaired correctly. the way it should have been the first time. If I could rate 0 stars, I would. The only reason that I took my 3 year old Tacoma into this dealership in the first place was that I thought I had transmission trouble, which would be covered under warranty. A faulty fuel pump was diagnosed and replaced. I would expect a fuel pump to last well over 100,000 miles instead of the 39,000 that I have now but I accepted the $1,100 overpriced bill. Within a week, the CEL with Code P0456 was setting. I called to get another appointment on a Saturday and had to wait another week for that appointment. The service representative attempted to explain to me that an Evap system leak has nothing to do with a fuel pump repair but I could bring the vehicle in for a look. After waiting a week, and another 4.5 hours in the waiting area, I was told that the technician had not looked at my vehicle. Evidently an appointment is just to get in line formally. Apologies were provided and then another hour for reading a code and diagnosing a bad gas cap. I was hesitant to accept the bad gas cap diagnosis since it was OK before the repair. They replaced the gas cap and after yet another hour waiting for pressure check, they admitted another leak was found. So I left the vehicle for day so that they could drop the tank again and reseat a gasket that was pinched during the original fuel pump repair. Poor service, poor repair quality, no tracking who is waiting, what jobs are being worked, or what the technicians are doing. After all that, I get a coupon for a free car wash. Did I mention that they told me that they would wash the vehicle before I picked it up? Didn't happen ... read more

No no no. Rude! That's all I can say. This is the first time that I try to get a cat out at a dealership and all I was Doing was on the phone with my aunt so she could guide me. The person helping me out was talking down to me and being rude because I wasn't "listening" to him. I wasn't going to make this major decision without thinking it through obviously. I will never recommend this place to anybody because they don't know how to treat customers right. They were telling me to get my aunt to come and sign since I was listening to her, and I'm sorry but that was really rude. As soon as I decided that I didn't want to take that truck anymore he literally gave up and his attitude was like he didn't want to be helping me and was looking for another customer to help instead.
