This continues to be out go to location for most things that are toys related. They offer air miles which is a bonus. As a general rule I won't buy anything here unless it's on sale. You can routinely find the same items elsewhere for 20-35% less even not on sale. That being said, this is my preferred location. Every month or so they do Saturday toy/craft activities for free that the kiddos can take home. (I'm currently standing in a 100 person long line for free Star Wars Lego Day! The kids get to make and take home an X-Wing fighter!) And while I'm standing in line for an hour, I'm sure Daddy and the kids are running amok and filling up the shopping cart! This might be the largest and most spacious Toys 'R' Us location in Edmonton. There is lots of space and lots of items in stock here. Unfortunately on my most recent visit the item I was seeking was out of stock in this location but I was easily able to go in and out of the store quickly and efficiently which was wonderful. read more

Toys R Us has one of the worst customer service experiences I've experienced. The only saving grace was the employee at my home store who was kind and agreed there was a poor online system. I am a counselor and bought some supplies to gift a child in need of supplies. Due to the confusing online order system, I got the items shipped instead of what I meant to do and get curbside delivery. I immediately called customer service to get a refund or have it manually changed to curbside pickup. I made the purchase and called with 15 minutes of it being processed, waited an hour and a half to speak to a representative. The representative only repeated the same phrase over and over. I asked to speak to a manager, I waited another 30 minutes and hung up because there was no response. I have never experienced a companies customer service not be able to cancel or refund. It's one thing when the website specifically says they do not refund but yours does not. Not even 2 hours from purchase and I'm not able to refund so I can correct my order. I never write reviews. This is how disappointed I am. Will never order from toys r us again. read more

Since I don't have kids, I can probably count on one hand how many times a year I go to this location. Having said that, this is THE place to purchase gifts for other people's children. I've always been pretty happy with the selection, they've got all the big names and just about anything a child could want. They always have the latest fads, but I really like all the inexpensive little items. If I had kids to buy stocking stuffers for, this would be a one-stop shop. Here's a tip--Now, at the end of October is a good time to shop. I read somewhere they drop their prices before October ends to make way for the Black Friday/Christmas stuff. It really does seem to be cheaper right around now. Also, it's perfectly economical to buy two or three days BEFORE Black Friday. The deals are still there, either because they're trying to shed stuff or because the new prices are there ahead of time--I don't know. I absolutely love this store. I am so glad that they aren't closing in Canada. It's an awesome store to find a lot of baby stuff that other stores do not carry. I feel that they are a bit pricey for some things, but when you can't find it elsewhere, this is good. I also shop a lot of deals and am able to get some awesome deals for Christmas gifts! They are in the process of renovating and changing things around right now, but it's still open and you are able to find everything's spot. This store has a bit of everything for babies and kids and a good place for moms to check out(alone or the kids will want the whole store)! read more

I'm not a frequent shopper to this store since I don't really have a reason to be buying many toys. But with a new baby in the family, I was happy to check out the selection of toys for under a year old. I couldn't resist but to buy a few toys I would classify as retro classics. Who didn't have the block shapes that you have to line up to put into the holes? Or how about the ring set that look like different shaped donuts? The great thing was the prices, as both were on sale. I also liked they have a variety of toys as compared to department stores and they do have sales. I found a carrier cheaper (by 5$) at BuyBuyBaby, but Babies R' Us had a 25% off sale. After confirming on the phone and in store with a sales person that I would get both (lower price/price match and 25% off they advertised) the manager came out and said no (at Babies R Us -West Edmonton). As the sales person already completed my order online (they didn't have the colour I wanted in stock) the manager said, "Well I guess you'll have to call the 1-800 number to cancel the order. I can't help you and I won't change it." even though she admitted the two salespeople I spoke to (online and in-store) were misinformed about their policies. I did end up calling the 1-800 number to give them an opportunity to make it right. Ruth-Anne (customer service representative) was not very helpful and offered me only one option to file a formal complaint that would be forwarded to the manager I had already spoken to in in-store. Upon calling BuyBuyBaby they said not only would they give me their lower price, but if I brought in a picture of the poster (or a flyer) from Babies R Us showing 25% off all carriers, they would give me 25% off their price. After hearing my experience, they also said if their salespeople were incorrect, they would have honour the discount (I would have never had to call their 1800 number, they would have fixed this problem in store and thereby not have wasted my time). My daughter is 7 1/2 weeks old, I hope Babies R Us realize they've just lost our business for the rest of her childhood (as well as every gift we buy for parents Or children). We will be driving across town from now on to give BuyBuyBaby our business even though we're within 10minutes of a Babies R Us. As a side note, I am sorry I can't remember the managers (or maybe Assistant Managers) name at BuyBuyBaby South Commons, but if you have an issue I encourage you to call her, she is wonderful and is obviously trying to gain customers through honesty. I have to write this review if only for the great customer service I received not only from a floor staff member at the Babys r Us section, but also the cashier upon checkout! They were both pleasant, friendly and outstanding! The Babys R Us section was clean, and for the most part well stocked. The item I came looking for was out of stock in the color I wanted, but no biggie. It was suggested by the floor attendant that they could order the item for me and have it delivered for free (vs. ordering online and having to pay for shipping). But it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I purchased a helicopter soldier force play set for my son for Christmas. Toys r Us sent me a much cheaper action figure set than the one that I paid for and then wouldn't fix the problem. When I sent a review to their site which was unfavourable, they chose not to show it. I had a bad experience with getting my purchase crib (online) to my destination. I feel like toysurs and the delivery company (Canada Post) didn't care whether I got my item or not (there were several calls and emails involved and nothing was done). I ended up paying to someone else to do the job that these two companies could not do to pick up my crib. If you want to get the crib I would recommend you to buy it somewhere else. First time here I have been to other toys r us and this one seemed smaller and the layout was similar but not, as I had to look in each aisle for the items I was looking for. It was actually spacious in there and bright. Shelves were well stocked and staff was in view if help was needed. read more

This is the store we've been frequenting most often for our baby needs. It's well organized and the staff who have assisted us have been friendly and helpful. I love toy stores (my husband and I are both toy junkies), so I will never say no to a stop in here. Prices can be a little higher than stores like Walmart, buts being able to find almost anything you need without having to make trips to multiple stores makes it acceptable. We plan to purchase our stroller and car seat here, as they seem to be the only store in the city to stock the one we want, and I haven't been able to find it online (except used, and this is one thing I refuse to buy second hand). read more

Hi guys. I bought bicycles for my kids and also bought a warranty on them. One bicycle broke within warranty and I had to file a claim. I was sent out an email with a gift card. After few months I went to use my gift card but I was shocked to see the link was expired.( no mention anywhere in the email that the gift card will expire on a certain day). Talked to them and they initially said they will fix it. Then after couple days they said bring the original receipt. I told them I did not have the receipt as my claim approved and I had my gift card. Long story short they never paid me my $110 and I felt robbed and scammed. I usually am okay with Toys R Us in store however, online shopping was a one time only thing for me. There was a great sale for outdoor items and so I decided to jump on the wagon quick and order online. It was free shipping and the item cost was $35, regular $60. I decided to purchase two of the item. I received an e-mail stating; "Thank you for shopping at Toys"R"Us/Babies"R"Us. We're pleased to tell you that your item(s) have been shipped! - Your credit card will now be charged for the item(s) shipped and the associated Shipping charges and tax amounts. - If there are remaining items in your order that were not shipped at this time, you will receive a similar email notification when they ship to advise of the new credit card charges and tracking information." My credit card was charged for the item quantity 2. When I received my order six days later, there was only one of the item, with a packing slip stating quantity 2. I called customer service and was on the phone for 30 minutes with a CSR rep where she said she could only refund the amount for the missing item, and I would have to go into the store to re-purchase, as none were available from warehouse to ship. The sale ended the same day...I would have to pay 45% more than originally purchased for, and would have to continue to check store locations for when it was back in stock. This was unacceptable, so I got transferred to a supervisor named Madison. When she came on the phone, all she was aware of, was a missing item. She did not look into anything about the order or a solution before she got on the phone with me (after being on hold for 14 minutes). I then spoke with Madison for another 30minutes where she said the same thing as the CSR rep. All she could do was offer a refund and check which store locations had the item in stock "Unfortunately, it is not 100% that the system is accurate on stock" she said. I asked if she could call the location to confirm and put the item on hold for me to pick up...she refused. I ended up calling the stores myself, found one that had one left...they said I had to purchase and pick up in store same day because the sale ends and they don't do rain-checks. Fortunately, the CSR at the store location took care of holding the item for me for 2 days (Til Saturday when I could get there) for me to purchase at the sale price. I called back to Toys R Us customer service line and asked to initiate the refund to my account. I was told that it was a request he had to fill out and I will be contacted within 3-5 days with whether or not it has been approved. Ridiculous, is all I could think. I told the rep that I needed this item (they were gifts) and that it had to be purchased right away because of the sale, I could not wait to find out whether or not I would get my initial refund for a product I never received but was charged for. I had to argue with the rep for 10 minutes before he finally went to a supervisor and got the refund approved. I wasted almost 2 hours of my time on the phone with CSR and got absolutely nowhere. I had to take the matter into my own hands and rectify the situation. The whole point of CSR is so the customer doesn't have to figure out the solution and argue with people. The customer she leave satisfied and wanting to continue shopping at said business. I am extremely disappointed with the run around I had to deal with and will never shop online with this company again, or even in store. I will be looking to shop elsewhere from now on. read more

Placed an online order over a month before Christmas. My son went searching and opened one of the packages before Christmas. Lucky he did because it ended up not even being what we ordered. Phone the company, only to be left on hold for over an hour (1 hr 12 mins to be exact says my phone timer) just to be told that they don't have that item in their warehouse anymore and can give me 10% credit off my next order. Assistant manager Karen said I could not order and manufacturer does not make them anymore.(Little Tikes ) after Lying to me she proceeded to say maybe they will come in the summer as it may be seasonal and she would not give it to me for the same price that it was clearly advertised in the store. This has absolutely been outrageous, my wife orders a bright star smiling safari activity jumper from you guys in early January, you guys told us it was picked up on the 6th of February and was suppose to be delivered by Canada post on the 13. We've called numerous times and you guys kept looping us around telling us to call Canada post. We call Canada post and they said that toys r us never sent out a package and only sent a tracking bill and not a package. So we call back toys r us customer service and she keeps telling us week after week after week that weve been calling that we have to wait another week to see where the package is because no one is taking responsibility. How hard is it to find a huge box or refund me my money??? This has been the absolute most inconvenient and difficult online order I have EVER experienced. The customer service woman was rude and incompetent and not listening to what I have to say or addressing my issue. I am extremely disappointed in this service and treatment and will hand write a letter to head office. This is absolutely unacceptable and we've missed the celebration occasion. After shopping around at a few different places, including west coast kids, buy buy baby and Sears, we ended up back at babies r us where we started. They simply have the best staff. I couldn't get much for in depth car seat information at buy buy baby or Sears, and I did not enjoy the registry process at buy buy baby AT ALL. They watched everything I scanned from their computer, criticized what I didn't scan, made an issue of me not scanning a breastpump, made me a little uncomfortable. They did have a good selection if a little pricey on some things. I went back to babies r us and did my registry there. They did not spy on what I scanned, gave me room but stayed available. They did not comment on my choices, and the process was much faster. I had questions about car seats and discovered their staff are certified car seat experts. Thank you thank you thank you to the young woman who helped me make my decision easier! She knew about every seat I had questions about. I left feeling a lot less stressed. Purchased a 3 in 1 car seat that came in a sizable box (4 feet x 2 feet about) and salesgirl was extremely helpful. Gave me a ticket to pay for it and advised me loading dock staff would put in my car due to size and me being 7 months pregnant. Get to loading dock, employee barely glanced at my receipt, grabbed the large, awkward, no handles box and dumps in my arms!! Went to grab out of reflex, nearly dropped it, and threw out my back. A female customer behind me helped me up and out to my car with it as said employee turned and went back into the warehouse!! My husband went in an hour later when he got home to discuss with a manager and all he got was "we'll talk to him". Meanwhile my back is seizing up more and more and having Braxton Hicks contractions. I said forget it, so off he goes again to return the seat and cancel our entire registry. Same response, another weak insincere "apology". The only one who asked how I was or if I was ok was a registry girl. I forced them to fill out an incident report to their insurance company so I am covered if anything gets worse with me or baby,and even THAT was a struggle. Incompetent, unhelpful, and borderline dangerous for pregnant mamas!! Will never set foot here again. Re-registered at Buy Buy Baby and West Coast Kids, both of whom were equally appalled at my story and MORE than happy to help me. I feel bad at inconveniencing my mother and MIL who had already sent out over 100 shower invites with the Babies registry info that now need to be amended, but I refuse to support a business that a) treats its customers so shoddy, pregnant or not and then b) completely refuses to offer any sort of compensation for such treatment. I lodged a formal complaint with the customer service desk but REALLY not holding my breath given how capable store management is at helping their customers. read more
