Popped into the Disney Store today for their twice yearly sale and so glad we did! Snagged a set of Disney Ornaments for the Christmas tree - Regularly $34.50 CDN for $9.99 as well as a few other great goodies. The staff are ALWAYS polite and helpful - Odd, something not always found these days! I also like their new location (they used to be upstairs near the Apple Store and now they are almost in the same spot downstairs on the opposite wall. The store is larger and now has items from Disney's newest acquisitions including Muppets and Spider Man, etc. Anytime we stop by West Ed we always visit the Disney Store! read more

I woke up this morning and had a hankering for walking in a parade. Where should I go? I know, how about the Disney Store in West Edmonton Mall! The staff gave paper masks to everyone that wanted to participate in the parade so myself and a plethora of 6 year olds decided to dress up like Disney characters and walk around the store to some lovely Disney marching music. After having an enjoyable time participating in the parade, I quickly dropped an unplanned $200 on my 3 favourite things: Star Wars, Spider-Man, and Frozen. Needless to say, I love going into the Disney Store because it makes me feel like a kid again. You'd be hard pressed to find better customer service these days anywhere else. A friendly staff member even reached onto the top shelf to get my big stuffed Sven. Thank you Disney Store for being so welcoming and ending each and every transaction with, "Have a Magical Day." read more

I used to sneer at the Disney Store and all the bastardized commercialism it stood for. I don't watch Disney movies, because I hated how they took classics like The Little Mermaid and The Hunchback of Notre Dame and turned them in cheerful sing-a-longs. Ugh. The truth is real fairytales aren't actually very kid-friendly. But to be honest, Disney has been entertaining children and adults alike for longer than I've been alive and NO ONE does it better than them. Nobody comes up with better merchandise either. I've been sneaking into this store for years. Now that they have TONNES of Star Wars stuff like R2-D2 and Chewbacca hoodies and matching backpacks? I'm a goner. It's endless! Star Wars lightsabers, Star Wars mugs, pencil crayon holders, costumes, pajamas, T-shirts, stuffed toys, you name it! Plus there's still the regular Disney treats. Everything from Aladdin to Yoda. Like the wall to wall princess dresses, tiaras, wings and wands, cars from 'Cars', plushies, dishes, onesies, toys, and more. My cousin's little guy only likes Mickey and trains. Got Mickey Mouse PJs and a Mickey train set for only forty bucks! One Christmas gift checked off the list in just one store. Right now, they have a special. If you buy two or more Disney dolls, they're eleven bucks each. (They have them all, why would you stop at just one anyway?) I'd also like to point out that they have a play area for the kids and the staff are SUPER friendly...like they would be at Disneyland. They're pretty good at gauging their audience too. They turn it up for the kids, and turn it down for us regular folk. I'm sorry...I really like shopping here. And that makes me feel weird. read more

Need a gift for a child in your life, it's likely you will find it here! I've been here a number of times looking for clothes, stuffed animal, and toys and have always found something cute, fun, and not that pricey either! It can get busy and crowded and there isn't a lot of space to move so you may need to manoeuvre your way around but it's worth it. There was a clearance section to the left of the cash and I found a cute pjs outfit marked down to $9 from $18.50. Close to this section they had cups, plates, and cutlery for 2/$14 with a selection of Minnie Mouse, Cars, and Monsters Inc. If you are caught in line and forgot to get a treat, they have toys along the way. Great marketing as there are likely impatient kids who start playing with a toy they don't want to give up. The cashier was very friendly and happy. A great experience and will be back next time I need a gift for a little one! read more

I love the reno, it's brought the vibe of being in a Disney park to the store now. The flow is set to you can dodge strollers cruising down the main isle by just walking through the sides. I can't get enough Disney and can easily get my fix walking through here. The cast members are super helpful if you're looking for something specific. My only critique here is - they need a big kids section!!!! Adult items/decor are few and hard to find, this place is fantastic if you're shopping for or with children though. Several interactive displays filled with disney toys are all around the place, so it may be hard to drag the kids outta here! :) read more

I am a huge Disney fan and while this store doesn't have the selection that the Kingsway store does I still make it a point to visit every time I am in West Edmonton Mall. I don't recommend trips on the weekends as this is usually when they are at their busiest and the mothers with the car sized strollers are out in full force. The shelves are quite close together in some areas and if one of these women have parked their stroller in front you are more then likely out of luck for looking at those items. There is a pretty decent sized collection of product for most of the more popular characters and with Disney now owning Marvel there are super hero toys for the little boys to oggle while their sisters are off on the other side of the store squealing over the princess dresses. My number one issue with their product range is there is almost nothing for my personal favorite character Winnie the Pooh. I used to get great holiday themed Winnie The Pooh items from Kingsway but that has not been something I have ever been able to get from here. They do have some great sales here on the t-shirts,coffee mugs, and plush. The baby stuff seems to be a little more pricey. The ambience of the store after they did the renovations is fun and whimsical and I like the television in the store playing Disney movie clips and Disney music. It is not hard to find staff at all on the floor if you are having trouble finding something and the folks at the cash always remind me to have "a magical day" as I exit the store. A great place to take little kids or to indulge the big kid within yourself. read more

Love the Disney movies, but this store doesn't do much for me. Maybe it was platoon of baby strollers that made me feel like I was the title character from Frogger. Perhaps it was having to resist the urge to bury my fist in the face of the grandmother who stepped on my foot in order to get to the Cinderella dresses. Then again, maybe it's just because the store is small, dark, and cramped. Oh, and it also might having something to do with the fact that the BLOODY STORE WAS MOVED!!! They used to be upstairs by the Apple store (imagine how irritated I was when I couldn't find it), but now they've been banished to the main level near the entrance to Galaxyland. Next time I need Disney stuff, I'm going to Kingsway. read more

I don't have any children but I still like coming into the store. I'm interested in the cute character mugs they sell. Staff is pleasant and helpful and they will wish you a magical day when you leave the store. One day I bought a Minnie Mouse tumbler and when I went home I noticed that it was cracked. I took it back to the store the next day and I was able to exchange it with no problem. Right now there is a lot of Star Wars and Christmas merchandise on the shelves. read more

If you ask anyone in this city, the Kingsway store is far superior to this one. Still, you can feel a bit of magic walking through the giant red Mickey head. This store seems to have less stock than the other. It looks way more organized and spacious, though. Of course all the favourites are here. It's located in sort of a dead end of the mall, though. I think they're working on it because the Apple store is nearby. If not for the big red ears, most people would likely pass it by. read more

How can anyone NOT love a Disney store?! I do admit that the one in Kingsway is better, but this one is still pretty rad. I love going into a Disney store because it makes me feel like a kid again. Even though I'm not up on the most current Disney movies, they have stuff from my favorite childhood Disney movies like The Little Mermaid and The Lion King. And this is a great place to grab a gift foe the little ones in your life. I don't think there is a little girl alive that would not love to put on a Disney princess dress and dance around the house . Heck, I'm an adult and I would love to do that (they don't have my size though)! It's a good place for gifts for the kids and it's a fun experience for adults to relive a bit of their childhood too. read more

Who can't be happy surrounded by all the beloved Disney characters, now joined by Marvel and Star Wars? Take a child and simply enjoy their wonderment, but be sure to bring your piggy bank. Tonight they even had a few items featuring Frozen, which seem to fly off the shelves the same day they get them in. My five year old companion was in awe of Anna's coronation dress, available for "only" a hundred bucks - sorry, kiddo, but that's not going to make it to your Tickle Trunk. But, yes, we did get the Elsa plate and Anna frozen cup, so life is good. Aside from that wardrobe heartbreak, the store is full of everything you can imagine to merchandize their princesses, Disney Jr. TV critters like Sophia, Jake, and Doc McStuffins (if you don't know who these are, and have children for whom you buy presents in your circle of friends, LEARN!), plus all the superheroes. Oh, and don't forget, Mickey and Minnie are still there as well. You can buy costumes, clothing, tableware, dolls, figurines, banks, toys, stuffies - literally anything you can imagine. What always impresses me the most are the staff - they are smiling, helpful, kind to your child, and there to make your experience enjoyable. We happened to be there as the mall was closing, and a very nice announcement was made for the "guests" to wrap up their shopping. At the cash registers, we were not made to feel there was any hurry, the clerk chatted with my little companion and was much more pleasant than I would have been at the end of a shift. The doors had already been shut, but were manned by the manager, who asked my granddaughter if she'd like to use her magic powers to help him put the store to bed. They spent a few minutes of making wishes and putting her hand on a magic spot, closing her eyes, and presto, she magically turned off the lights in the store, leaving the twinkling tree overhead, a pretty site that made her ooh and ahh. He thanked her for her help with a Princess sticker, and she left feeling quite important and magical. His delay of closing for that few minutes made her feel special and me grateful. The best store in West Ed, and great for a Disneyphile to browse and check out all of the latest merchandise and shameless advertising. Now that they've added Star Wars AND Marvel to the stores, it's got something for everybody, including a giant video wall that can actually play a few old classics in addition to the current "Buy this stuff!" advertising. The staff is usually very good, though I'm often in on weekends when it's SUPER-busy and they just kind of motor around the store. They're good about leaving you alone, though- I've looked around the place for half an hour before and maybe had to talk to one person. So there's no constant harassment. The store is usually very busy, so you don't feel like only one person being watched by several staff members. There is merchandise EVERYWHERE- all sorts of modern and retro figures. Anything that's had a recent release is going to have a section devoted to them- when Aladdin got re-released, suddenly they were awash with figurine sets, clothing and "Baby Versions" of the characters. Same thing with the Disney Fairies stuff. The location is good- near the food court and with a very big store (MUCH better than their old, bare-bones version on the upper floor). There's a lot of space to move about, yet tons of things on racks- two "round" racks at the front, three pillars full of merch, wall-to-wall stuff, many piles of clothing, and multiple other racks "themed" around one franchise or another. And at least once a month, you're likely to see a bunch of brand-new stuff come in. The only thing I'd like is a section for adult sizes- you feel weird as an adult (ESPECIALLY an adult male) looking at clothing for young children because it's got the best art on it. I'd ask for a section that has those great pricey Disney figurines and the like, but those are rather breakable, and they'd probably have to have a staff member around a locked cabinet, so I can see why not. It's a tall order for a busy, crowded store like this, but some more "high-end" stuff would be great. read more
