Selena she was the only employee working there today it wasn't that busy but I came in to get my amazing peach smelling air freshener for my car. I used to come here every few months just to get that smell for my car. But it's been a little while so decided to stop in and get one and I found a really cute pair of socks for baby girl. They have a lot of really cute stuff here, Selena was really nice, she was helpful with a smile. I looked around a lot to try to find things for presents, but this was one store I had to stop at so I can get my air freshener that smells incredible. My car smells like a peach now my favorite smell. Something about it just makes you smell like you're sitting in candy store in your car, which is awesome. Been coming here for years. This is my favorite store. Its very hard to pass this store without shopping. I love the toys inside (Animes, manga, kawaii characters)... it's different world in heart of OC. They are very friendly. The shelves are well stocked and Ofcourse they are busy. They have claw machine but the claw didnt work properly. It was very loose so i didnt win anything! From the minimum credit card limits to their terrible treatment of customers, this place has lost my business. I used to visit all the anime stores at the mall but I avoid this one. The staff are discourteous to the extent that it's just not worth visiting with other similar stores nearby. Its their loss if they dont want to implement customer friendly policies. read more

Tokyo Lifestyle has a great selection of gift items. From Angry Birds to Hello Kitty, I found fun gifts for everyone. I even found some cute things for myself! I enjoyed looking through all of the Hello Kitty toiletry items and makeup bags, backpacks, and adorable slippers. I was also enamored with the stuffed animals and messenger/travel bags. The other side of the store has an impressive selection of "convenient store" items, as other reviewers have mentioned. They have a good variety of candy and other novelty items to choose from. Seriously, did I really need those adorable Hello Kitty travel jars or makeup bag? Nope, but they were just so darn cute! This is how the store will get you, there are just so many of these cute little items to choose from. You'll end up buying a lot! The customer service is good here too, and the store is well organized. I found everything I needed quickly and easily. When I came back later that day to buy that adorable backpack, the salesperson was friendly and helpful. I really like this store. I popped in here for a second time and spied a "Perfect Collection" of an anime DVD I had seen listed elsewhere for $70. Here it was $13.99. What a deal. They also carry some japanese house wares, shirts, dishes for ramen and tea, lacquerware, and even some geta. There was kitchen items for cooking and eating. They have a good assortment of common Japanese Pop items such as Hello Kitty and Domo. I saw incense, calligraphy pens and brushes for shodou as well as for everyday pen and paper uses. It's like a Japanese strip mall rolled up into a single import store. It's really not all that big. Anyway, it's located upstairs across from CPK near Macy's. I'll defiantly stop in next time I'm back at the Brea Mall. There's so much to look at and Mitsuwa is too far. Perfect store for a Gaijin like myself. Oh, the young lady who rang me up was very nice and courteous too. Apparently they are a west coast chain. read more

I adore little Japanese stores like these with imports from Japan: you can find everything from your favorite anime, to your cute animal plushes, down to various Japanese kitchen wares and beauty products. I ended up leaving with a giant cat body pillow (cat lovers will LOVE this store because of its plethora of feline products), and a bunch of Pokemon stickers and gadgets. Everything was pretty reasonably priced considering that some were imported from Japan. Yes I am a fan I guess I have a little soft spot for Japanese nick knacks. It first dawned on me to come here when some of my friends were getting some pieces of jewelry in the Macy's section. Since they were taking a little bit long I decided to stop by and check out Tokyo Lifestyle. Is it just me or does everyone have the same problem of "browsing these cute isles and buying practically the whole store with you!" Sigh I think I have a problem but I don't want to admit it since really all the stuff in this store is just way too cute and adorable. Who wouldn't want to buy Japanese eyelashes that make you look like a doll or better yet get some cute stuff animals ! I don't understand why I still like it since I'm soo old already but I guess it is because I'm still a little kid inside. I love coming to these stores! So great they have other locations! Store is clean, great customer service, and great finds. Is there any way we can yelp fellow customers though? I was in this store and this guy comes in wearing his mask ON HIS ARM!! Not only is covid still a thing, but it's flu season. Inconsiderate much? It only gets worse. I wanted to ask him about his hoodie, but I changed my mind after seeing how he treated the employees. He was so rude, had an awful attitude towards the cashier, even tried to make a scene! I left immediately, he was pretty intimidating and raised his voice alot. I get that it's getting close to the finish line of this holiday season, but why all the hostility Sir? The employees treated him the same as they did me. Again, the staff here was fantastic! They keep the shop clean and are so helpful. I love browsing Japanese import stores, just to see what kind of stuff from Japan is available. Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle lives up to its name; just about anything related to Japanese pop culture and general merchandise can be found here. Hello Kitty stuff? Check. Beauty products? Check. Gundam and Transformers? Check. (No Macross stuff, though - boo!) Sake kits? Check. Cell phone and car accessories? Check. (If you can afford the rearview mirrors that clip on over your regular ones, get them. They're a vast improvement over the ones that come standard in the US, if you ask me.) Snack food like Pocky? Check. You get the picture. Too bad the DVDs look like bootlegs, I didn't see any manga on display, and the items are generally pricy (which is why I didn't get the green tea-flavored Kit Kat - that, plus it was going to melt in the car). This store must be pretty new since it wasn't here the last time I went to the Brea Mall & I go every 4-6 months. It's a cute, little store carrying various Japanese trinkets at low prices. I got a pair of chopsticks & a plastic container of eating utencils & chopsticks for when you're on the go. I'd come here again. There's a Japanese wooden doll I want to get to decorate my place. I love this place! It has a wide range of Japanese products ranging from cute trinkets like keychains and fun erasers to plushies like Pokemon ones to Japanese cosmetics and facial care. They've got some anime DVDs and Real Grade Gundam models as well. If I'm ever in Brea Mall, I make sure to stop by this place. They had more Japanese facial products than I thought they would including one of my favorite cleansers called Perfect Whip. They even sell some Dolly Wink products as well. Also, they have tons of Japanese snacks to look at including those fun DIY candies. I have yet to try the DIY candies but they look like fun! Not sure how they taste tho haha read more

I came in looking for the Air Spencer squash car freshener. The lady who was working was very nice, an gave me her opinion on the different car scents available because there were so many choices! I ended up purchasing what i originally had in mind, and placed it in my car right away! It smells super strong! Way stronger than my bath and body car scents.(I'll probably still buy those as well anyway) The one star is just based on price because it is more expensive than amazon, but if you're impatient like me, buy it in store! read more

I both love and hate coming in here. I love it because everything is SO CUTE and I absolutely hate it because I want to purchase EVERYTHING but can't because my wallet would cry. Every single time I come in here, I am always greeted by the worker behind the cashier with a hello and smile. Super friendly people. I always like walking throughout the entire store because they sell all sorts of things. It ranges from cool anime knick-knacks to bento boxes and kitchen accessories. There is always something to look at at every turn. Although, they do not do this all the time but I don't really like the feeling of being stalked. I understand it's to keep an eye out on possible shop lifters but it does make me feel a little wary and anxious. Other than that, I really recommend this store for all people & ages. I needed to hold more items so I asked the owner if I could throw my empty cup in her garbage. She refuses. I asked her if she'd prefer I don't buy anything. She says nothing. I have to walk out find a trash and come back. She doesn't look us in the eye the rest of the time. Stupid us, we should have walked out or even better left my cup on a shelf, let her deal with it. This place is, as other reviewers have mentioned, a very condensed version of a Japanese convenience store without the food. The majority of their items (which are also displayed in the windows) are anime and toy type merchandise. Domo-kun, Hello Kitty, Rirra kuma, and Mario Brothers knick knacks can be found here. They also carry a small collection of blind boxed anime figurines and mini Japanese erasers and just small little trinket type things and cell accessories. There's also a few popular Japanese snacks like Pocky and Lotte gum. They do have household items like "noren" drapes, tools, lunch/bento boxes, etc. Employees that work here are always very friendly and always smile and make eye contact. If you don't want to drive out to Marukai or Mitsuwa, this is definitely a neat place to visit while at the Brea mall. read more

I'm gonna go back again tomorrow but to the Westminster mall location to check out all their little, small items they have. I didn't have enough time to browse all the small stuff. OMG Kawaii overload! I'm always a sucker for cute stuff from Japan. They've got a lot of it here. I was happily surprised to find Re-Ment here (the mini food toys). Usually I would have to order these online, but they have them and a cute display of them too! They have a lot of japanese beauty products, such as the double eyelid maker tool, which I call the "eye fork", dolly like lashes, whitehead removers, even contacts that make your irises look huge. I ended up buying a Hello Kitty key cover, but it's Hello Kitty's head in a hamburger! It was $6.99. read more

I stop by this store every time I go to the Brea Mall. They have great items here, and I usually gush over the cute stuffed animals they have. My goal months ago was to get a giant Yoshi plushie, but by the time I came back (about 3 weeks ago), they no longer sold it :( It was $40 though from what I remember, but I would have spoiled myself with it anyway. But anyways, like some other reviewers have stated, it's indeed like a Japanese convenience store, just without the food. They have little snacks though of course, like shrimp crackers, Hi-Chew, Pocky, etc., but other than that, it's a small store. But no need to be disappointed; there's still tons of stuff sold here. They have nice fragile items too, and I'm talking about teacups, plates, bowls. Many of them have wonderful artwork on them as well. I got my parents a teacup set one Christmas, and each cup had images of geishas on them (in ink style art), and they were beautiful. There's also tons of anime merchandise here as well, including DVDs, action figures, and posters. There's also little backpacks with various characters (i.e. Hello Kitty, Super Mario, Yoshi, etc) for children as well. This shoppe is inside Brea Mall right next to Macy's. This store is super cute with all the stuffed animals on the store front- which was the reason why it caught my attention and I HAD TO go inside to browse around. Their average price for a stuffed Alpaca (Japanese stuffed toy) is $29.99. I would say that this place priced their items fair because I have seen more expensive ones at other places and on Amazon for like $43.99. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes cutesy stuff. They don't only sell toys, they also sell cool beauty products on the wall that was imported from Japan. read more

This is a very cool store. I love Japanese goods, so it's always fun to check out stores like these. However, it also makes me miss being in Japantown. :*( Anyway, the store is tiny but full of cool and cute things. Unlike some other Japanese stores, I felt "safe" looking around without being treated like a criminal. I was kind of surprised that the prices aren't marked up, considering this is located in the mall. A lot of the things I looked at (mostly Japanese housewares) were under $5. Couple months ago I visited this place, and saw some Japanese toys, i thought the price was pretty good! But yesterday I went there to see some Gundam Model Kits. They are pricing these kits Twice as much as their Normal Values. They are just normal kits, Not the limited edition or anything. They are Selling SD kits for $13 where normally sold for $6. HG kits for $45 where normally sold for $20-$25. MG kits for $99 where normally sold for $45-60. Outrageous Pricing! read more
