Thus dude closed up shop and threw everyone's items out. He told me he junked my dads item because he couldn't find parts and it was unrepairable. My dad had talked to him a month before and told him he would find the parts himself. If I could give this cyclops negative stars I would. I took a vintage receiver to him for repair and once the problem was diagnosed he quoted me a price which I approved. When I came to pick it up the repair price TRIPLED!! I asked him why the increase in price and you will not believe what he said. I hope you are sitting down for this. I took turntable to them. $40 to check it out. Fair if I do not want to fix. Take off the bill If i got fixed. Said the arm assembly was bad and not available for replacing, OK Pick it up and out $40. Knowing the history of the turntable I took a chance at dropped it off in the city near Irving and Broadway. They charge $20 to look at it. Half the price and they went through it and cleaned adjusted and it works great now, I would not take a turntable here, Really glad I did not dump it. 70's Technics Table lives on read more

I have been a customer of Davids for at least a year. Sadly that all ended today when he got mad, was rude and hung up on me. He became upset that I took my Marantz to a Marantz technician in Madison. My stereo. My choice. I called him today to arrange repair for one of my other stereos and to purchase a cd player from him. I think David behaved in an infantile way. While he may be a skilled technician his head games are not worth the aggravation. read more

Update: I went to Track One to see if Dave would give me what he called was a "missing part" on my stereo dust cover in exchange for telling him about 1) the now not working tape player and 2) the fact that i now cannot at all remove the turntable in order to replace the belt (i am assuming he replaced the entire guts of my stereo WITHOUT permission and replaced the belt drive with a direct drive, and replacing the control board, thus diabling the tape player... all with NO permission from me!!) I wanted to see how he would react. I was assertive but not very angry. He did nothing, REFUSED to give me the "missing parts" (which were not missing until i took it in and he SAID to ME that he ordered them and was going to charge me for them, but said to my HUSBAND that he just took them off another stereo (my guess is he took them off of MY stereo and just LIED about all of it!) AND proceeded to just say he didn't care, yelled at me and told me to GET OUT... i told him fine, then i am taking legal action, and i am. NOT how you are supposed to treat people regarding THEIR vintage equipment which CANNOT be replaced, and bottom line, THEFT and fraud. read more

Where do I start with this terrible experience. First I live an hour away from his store so I called ahead of time to make sure the owner was in, so he already knew I wasn't just dropping in locally. You would think when someone is coming from far away, they would get some quality customer service, boy I was wrong. When I called him beforehand I said I was bringing in two pieces of equipment to get serviced and asked if he would take records for a trade. He said yes, he would take a look. After looking at the equipment and skimming through only a couple of the records (there were 6 crates worth) He just offered taking money off the service for ALL of my records. I told him I was looking more to make a trade where he handpicks some and I pick out one of his I wanted. I figured 5-1 vinyls in his favor was more than fair especially when all of my records were in very good condition and I only found 2 or 3 that I wanted that weren't rare or expensive. After telling him I didn't want to get rid of all my records he quickly became rude and said I'm strange and that if anyone brings crates of records with them it means they want to get rid of them all. As he was becoming more and more rude I decided I was just going to pay for the needle he just replaced and not leave the other equipment. After saying I'm just going to do that, he emphatically says "GOOD", he then told me go to another shop in Arlington Heights that charges way more than him. This guy reminded me of Peter Pettigrew aka Wormtail from Harry Potter and his interactions with other humans is on par with that character as well. The owner is the type of guy that may be a good tech and good with products, but he should never leave the back of the store. Leave the customer interaction to a normal human being. read more

I brought my vintage Project One receiver in and paid $35 to have it diagnosed, I was told it would take 2 wks. 2 months later I called him, I was told I need an amplifier board and that it would be around $150- $160 plus, then he said "and the problem is, I can't find one." I swallowed my loss of $35 and took it to someone else, because obviously this guy wasn't in any hurry to honor the 2 weeks to diagnose, being that I had to call there twice, the third time I called he said "Oh, I got it figured out, it needs an amplifier board." So I went and picked it up and brought it to another place, I told this guy that I'd paid $35 to you people, and that I believe it was miss-diagnosed. Sure enough it was only 1 simple part on the board that needed to be replaced, they also cleaned it!! I was charged $60 brought my receiver home and it sounds like it's brand new!! I think you run a dishonest business and believe people will find out and you'll be out of business before you can say "Awww shit, what have I done!" So, I'm wondering how many other people I'll join on the BBB website for being taken advantage of, terrible customer service, and having a company work on stereos when they don't, obviously, know what they are doing!
