One of the best spots in NYC for unique gifts or just to cheer yourself up. Pearl River Mart is…read morebasically a curated treasure chest of Asian-inspired trinkets, home goods, and "I didn't know I needed this" objects all in one place. You'll find the classics: chopsticks, ceramics, Lucky Cat statues, loose leaf teas alongside nostalgic snacks, fans, patterned paper, clothes/ qi paos, purses, and other beautifully designed everyday items. Everything is just so well curated, this is one of the best places to find a gift for someone when you don't know what you're looking for. Some of my favorite things to pick up here: Tiger Balm, lanterns, fans, incense sticks, tea sets, slippers. It's also still family owned and has been in operation for 55 years now (since 1971!). They also have a small location in Chelsea market but the SoHo location has a significantly larger footprint.

Nice place just to browse Chinese decors, knick knacks, clothes, snacks and condiments. I bought some nice pens and a beautiful silk scarf. Prices are reasonable. I happen to chance on their little art exhibit at the back. The Red Envelop show for Lunar New Year. Very interesting. Over all, i like this place, feels like it instantly transports me to China with out leaving NYc.

Disclaimer that I did not make a purchase, so my review is based solely on my shopping experience…read more I was looking for an outfit to wear to a sangeet, and I booked a shopping appointment on their website. They texted me and Whatsapp messaged me to confirm the appointment, and after I arrived and told the sales associates about the timing of my event they recommended that I look at the off the rack collection. The dresses are super beautiful and well crafted, but there is only one of each - only one size of each - and it might not fit and may need to be tailored. It's also a little on the expensive side compared to what I found online and at Flying Solo. I tried on three options that were $1100, $1000, and $600. The sales associates were really sweet and helpful in helping me assemble the outfits the correct way and they were not pushy at all.

Do not trust this store with your bridal needs. I never write reviews, but I had such high hopes…read morefor this store and was left so disappointed with my experience. All my other bridal shopping from different stores went seamlessly. At Ave, they were nice initially but did not get my measurements right or communicate the changes to their tailor. Several issues were not written down or addressed and I had to fly back and forth to NYC multiple times in the months before my wedding. The left sleeve of my blouse was so tight that I needed lotion and help from staff to pull it off. This happened on two occasions. The proportions were so wrong. I had to ask the tailor to please measure my arms again so we can resolve this asap. I would have preferred to try it on again in person but I could not fit in another NY trip, so they shipped it to me. It took 1 week to arrive because they used the slowest shipping option. After all the alterations, much of the threadwork and beading of the blouse was damaged, and now I have to find a local garment specialist to repair it in the week before my wedding. I spent over $6,000 on a beautiful designer lengha for my wedding ceremony and was expecting perfection from a store that advertises it's "designer experience". At the minimum I would hope to have my concerns taken seriously. They sent me these earrings in response, which I will be returning. Save yourself the hassle and go to LA at Fashion by Rohini or buy from the designers in India directly.

Muji is a retail…read morecompany originating from Japan which sells a wide variety of household consumer items, interior and storage accessories, stationary, furniture, kitchenware, tableware, travel, skincare, clothing and food products. Muji is most well-known for its philosophy of functional, quality design with a Japanese minimalistic aesthetic, offered at a reasonable price. I've always enjoyed checking out and purchasing Muji items. On Black Friday, Muji was giving away a Black Friday Survival Essentials Kit to the first 300 customers at their Fifth Avenue and SoHo stores. The Black Friday Survival Essentials Kit included an exclusive tote featuring the MUJI Market design and filled with a notebook, black 0.38 pen, yuzu candy, and a water bottle. Also, I received a scratch-off card for an extra 10-30% off. My card was only for 10% off. The MUJI SoHo location open at 8AM. I was in line about 7:50am and staff gave us hot matcha latte and a ticket to redeem the tote while waiting. Doors opened exactly at 8AM and by 8:05AM, I already got my tote and walked around the two floor store. It was a very organized process and so nice of them to give us a drink while we were waiting outside. Store was very organized and fully stocked. Service was great even on Black Friday and I had a great time.

I was surprised to see the store selling a wide variety of household consumer items, like furniture and clothing and even some food products (but all packaged and limited in number.). Everything seemed to really be of functional and good quality and design, with a bit of the typical Japanese minimalistic aesthetic, which I really liked. The prices are reasonable enough too. Definitely check them out if you're a fan of simplistic yet very practical household items; I ended up getting a little tooth brush holder (set of 2), 2 organizing trays and a cotton T-shirt. The store is 2 floors, with stationary / office items in the front, along with other stuff and women's clothing on the first floor. The basement houses other household items and the men's section. The line moved quickly and the cashier was also pleasant. I will be returning!
