I gave her $10, and the amount owed was $7.50. She brought back my change and told me she was giving me $2.50, then placed the money in the slot. I noticed she said "$2.50," but I only saw $2 in bills and a few (dimes and nickels,) so I asked if she had any quarters. She said no, and I told her that was fine. I took my change and left. However, when I got to my car, I counted the change because something didn't feel right. I realized that she had only given me $2.40 instead of $2.50, leaving me 10 cents short. I walked back inside, and I saw her come to the window and place two nickels in the slot without saying a word. There was no apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. I walked back out to my car AND THEN noticed that my earring holder was missing from my jewelry box. I realized that when I originally pawned my earrings, I had given them the earring holder that contained my earrings. So, I went back inside ONCE AGAIN to ask if they still had my holder. This time, a man came to the window, and I asked if they still had my earring holder. He went to the back and asked the young woman about it. She became very loud with him and spoke as though I had accused her of something ABSOLUTELY heinous. I was surprised by her negative reaction, especially since I was simply asking about an item that belonged to me. The owner eventually came out. He was kind and professional, and I appreciate that he made an effort to rectify the situation. He gave me a new jewelry box, which I appreciated. That is why I am giving this business 2 stars (instead of 1). Lastly, 10 cents and a bad attitude may not seem like a big deal, but small situations like this can easily become a bigger issue in the future, especially when dealing with customers' money and personal belongings. I hope all employees receive the proper training and customer-service guidance to ensure situations like this do not happen again.
