Once we got our chewy calamari server never checked in with us. Gave us a kids menu without crayons. The tequila drink tasted like alka seltzer but our sever didn't ask us so she wouldn't know. After feeling disrespected enough I finally signaled for a bus boy to bring out the manager because my sever was MIA. The manager came over and the server as well, but the server had the snobbiest attitude. There was also guest staring and one guest screamed racism and then every other word was quiet. The single worst meal of my dining experience was served at The Lobster Pot. Instead of fried fish, I was served a fried fish portion that contained one "item" that consisted solely of a breaded clump of fish scales. Just the scales, no fish at all. We went on Saturday 9/13 having not been here in years and looking for something different and a seafood specialty restaurant. Upon entering I couldn't help but notice it was not busy, for it being 7pm on a Saturday I was surprised. Looking around it was well appointed with artwork and lobsters in tanks however the aged, faded tvs were a disappointment. We were seated quickly and a waiter soon after, he reaked of cigarettes and the gruff voice confirmed that his addiction was a greater priority than our health, by exposing us to his third hand smoke particles I was offended. Though his service and menu knowledge was professional the overwhelming stench zapped all of our considerations for any future business. The menu options were diverse and creative, entrees were terrific but it's all for naught as the experience has caused us to question all standards of the business. New Restaurant alert Well new location. Does anyone remember the Lobster Pot? Well did you know they opened in Willoughby Hills. I remember loving this restaurant and was so sad when it closed. I was driving down SOM Center and said is that the Lobster Pot. It surely was- reservations made for my Friday business dinner. It was such a lovely night in Cleveland that we sat on the patio. So I really did not go in the inside of the restaurant. It was not crowded at all on a Friday night. We ordered shrimp, snow crab, the emerald plate, we all had salads. I finished my meal of with key lime pie. Oh my gosh the food was incredible. Why did no one tell me this restaurant was opened back up. The seafood was so fresh cooked to perfection. As much as I love seafood I should have known about this place. And the prices very reasonable. I had a drink, salad, shrimp, snow crab, haddock and dessert for under $50. That is a win. Service was great. The food was just ok. I got the Caesar salad, I wouldn't get it again, but it was definitely better than some places, but I expected more out of this place. I shouldn't have since it only has 3 1/2 Yelp stars. Lobster bisque was very disappointing. I didn't return it, but I should have. I only ate half of it, It was gelatinous cream like a can soup. I wish I had better words . It had a few pieces of lobster which is nice, which tasted good but the actual soup wasn't good. They did give you Sherry, which did make it better for me. The walleye was just OK the tartar sauce I didn't like, it had a very strong pickle flavor and the coleslaw after adding lemon to it tasted better. I'm sorry to say I won't be coming back. read more

My partner and I had heard about this restaurant being touted as a must visit for the Cleveland area. From the videos that we saw, the menu and food looked promising so we decided to give it a go. Host was pleasant, and our server, Jack, had positive energy and vibes to spare. Jack was excellent for us. My partner had the lobster bisque which they enjoyed. I trust their opinion on it as I don't delve in the bisqueness often. We also tried the stuffed mushrooms which were quite good. Stuffing was similar to crab cake. My partner is an aficionado of crab cakes, as they came from crabland aka Maryland. The surf n' turf that they ordered was reported to me as delicious. I had the scallops and a lobster tail add-on. Scallops were big and made me want to make my own scallop farm at home. Alas, that is not in the cards. Lobster treated our taste buds well, certainly worth it. Stopped by the Lobster Pot for the Happy Hour menu. Located near the intersection of SOM Center and Chardon Roads. As I headed in I noted they have a nice sized front patio that will be nice in the summer. Once inside you have a good sized dining room and a bar area. The decor is nautical, but restrained with the big items being the large show fish tank and the lifeboat in the dining area. The Happy Hour menu is only available in the bar area, but it seems quite a few people have figured out that the Happy Hour is a good deal as the bar and the bar tables are almost full at 4pm on a rainy Wednesday. Service at the bar table was by regular servers and the waiter I had was very good, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. On Wednesdays and Thursdays Happy Hour is available when the restaurant is open. The Happy Hour menu features a nice assortment of dishes at $7 each, oysters are $2 each and shrimp are $1 each. They also offer discounts on drinks and wine. I ordered the fried calamari and the fried haddock po boy. The food came out in about 10 minutes, well prepared and were good sized portions. The fried calamari were fresh rings of squid, breaded and perfectly fried; crunchy outside, tender inside. Presented with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a nice garlic aioli, this was a really well prepared version; about the only thing I might change would be to add some extra spice to the breading. The haddock sandwich was actually two fillets batter fried and served in split buns with coleslaw and a spicy aioli. The fish was excellent if a bit messy to eat. I will be back to Lobster Pot to try more of the menu. Overall a good representation of a seafood restaurant, food and service were both good. Dined here the other night. Unfortunately for our almost $400 bill (3 adults 1 kid) it was not great. The crab was sad looking with dark spots and not one piece came out whole. I had to ask twice for my side. It finally came out with the dessert. For the price you would think there would be bread service like any other high end restaurant. Onto the best part the fool we ordered the Delmonico steak, which was a 10 out of 10 the scallops Oh my God to die for the and mushrooms, breath taken. My husband and I stopped in The Lobster Pot on a whim after work, and we're so glad we did. The place felt warm and welcoming. It was clean, cozy and had that relax seafood vibe that just makes you feel like you're in the right spot. We both enjoyed our meals very much. This was our second time first was when it was newer and I said I'd never go back but I lied. We really enjoy good seafood and had a taste for it so I brought up trying it out again. I ordered the lobster bisque for a starter it was $12 it was ok with plenty of lobster just not the best tasting soup (Z-Eats) is much better. For dinner my wife ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms (an appetizer) and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I ordered the special broiled grouper with one side which was the garlic mashed at $28. My wife's stuffed mushrooms were two big mushrooms with a very salty stuffing they were overcooked and the sauce was not appealing to look at as it was grayish and off putting. Her garlic mashed were very good. My grouper was overcooked and hard as a rock the last inch and a half (the thin end) it was very dry and not very thick for the price. I was going to send it back but I decided to just live with it. Garlic mashed were very good. Waitress was also our hostess and she tried to be nice although it felt forced and every time she came to the table she'd put things down and leave immediately before we could say anything. Overall for $71.14 with no alcohol and only one pop (I don't drink anything when I eat) it was way overpriced for poor seafood. Btw it's very dark inside. I so wish this place was better.! read more

Went there for our anniversary with reservations and had to repeat that I had reservations three times while those two knuckleheads refused to even look up at us at ANY given point while they talked over who was getting what tables. The scallops were so juicy and it was just a blast of seafood flavor that is hard to encounter so far away from the oceans. Ambiance: 5/5 Somewhat dimly lit, but I was a big fan of the lobster and fish tanks in the restaurant. Lots of aquatic decor on the wall. Giant swordfish and boats. The A\C was also very strong! The temperature was pretty cold, but I like it that way. Indoor and outdoor seating. Somewhat hidden in a plaza of other buisinesses. Service: 3/5 I'm sorry, It just wasn't there. This restaurant is open and is taking good precautions by having plastic dividers up between the booths. For the tables in the middle, they are using every other table accommodate the 6 foot requirements. Service a food was great. The crab dip for appetizers was wonderful. It's been hit or miss for us. We've been going for years and lately the fish quality has been a lottery. Last night I had the pecan crusted grouper and it was terrible. My daughter had the fish fry haddock and the fish itself was very good but breading was over salted and super greasy. It's possible their shellfish is better but I'm a white fish guy.
