I unfortunately have become a lot less mobile - standing for long periods very much harms my leg tissue so i need to limit standing which means that I am not able to cook as much as I would like to. Prepared foods are such a tragedy. Having veggies cut up in advance is such a time saver sometimes! I used to avoid it because the word fresh was a joke but Safeway had such a great selection of very well priced and fresh fruit and vegetables. Also, those horrifically large veggie trays with some ranch - they have small single servings! I go to things like Shakespeare in the Park so grabbing a wrap sandwich and some veggies for snacking is wonderful! Also, cut up bowls of fresh fruit. There are quite a few selections of different small meats, cheeses with crackers and/or nuts. It is so nice to have options for those of us who forgot our lunch too! They are much less than the fast food options and far better for you as well. This location really seems to run a tight ship where everything, even during a pretty busy afternoon was neat and tidy which is appreciated. I even got fast, knowledgeable help from a passing by employee which is always great, especially when there seems to be a BBQ rush of people in the store.

Safeway has now topped themselves with the digital coupons not working. The coupon entered did not work. We all know the rules, the steps, the procedure, but still it didn't work. There it is entered into your phone as well as using it's number to I.D. as your issued card is nearly worthless. And here's the correct item to get the discount. All the other items with a coupon worked. Why just this one? A dollar here, a couple of dollars there of non working coupons adds up fast. Notice the price error is always in their favor. Always! What does the attendant first say when you call her over? Well it has to be YOUR fault. Every time, the dumb ones say that. No apology. You'd like to ask them how they even found their way to work. Or, tell them if their damn coupons worked correctly, they wouldn't be needed and the store could fire them. When you got dressed today, did you put your socks on first or your shoes? Do you make that mistake often, lady? Don't work self checkout if you can't respect your customers. We already know most of your day is fixing coupon problems. The white haired lady is the nicest one they have and never gets rattled. Fred Meyer has a class action suit ongoing. It's time Safeway had one, too.

The reality of life is really hard to bear some days, so when I am checking out at my local TJs on Johnson Creek Blvd/82nd and Natasha asks how my day is going it's hard for me to act like life is all hunky dory when I'm thinking about the people of Palestine starving to death or migrant workers undergoing harassment because of the color of their skin and their "maybe" dubious resident status. Nevermind the US has lots of illegal white people. So when I responded voicing my sadness, and said I probably shouldn't start my day listening to Democracy Now and I feel so helpless because of what is happening to migrant workers and the genocide of Palestinians I get this from Natasha: "I never listen to the news, or follow media. I have a different point of view from you and I am absolutely OK with what is happening." She's an entitled to be a heartless MAGA (first clue she obviously pays attention to "certain" maga media though, right?). But Trader Joes at Johnson Creek/82nd has lost my business for good. I have been going to TJs since FOREVER literally (their first store I used to visit in Culver City LA when I visited friends there) but I WILL never step a foot in THAT store again if they are going to employee fascists like Natasha. I remember hearing about their pushback on Black Lives Matter and firing an employee who tried to mediate with them on it (TJs on SE 39th Cesar Chavez) and I do have friends employed at other locations (who, btw, encouraged me to write this as they said the manager out there would just ignore the issue). But this is absolutely the last straw. She has a right to her awful inhumane opinion but she does not have a right to ask me how my day is going and then piss on it. read more

I always have an easy time finding help or someone to answer my questions. One time I was leaving and I stupidly had put my wine on the bottom rack of the cart, when a couple bottles fell out and broke, they came running outside to fix the situation before I could even blink! Someone was grabbing my wine to replace it (for free), while someone else swept up my mess. I was on my in less than two minutes after the incident! My toddler loves this place and everyone there is so friendly and kind to him. That wins over this Mommas heart. They have lots of great Organic options for my little guy and whole family. I love a lot of the prepackaged foods to help give me ideas for meal plans. I am a terrible cook, but TJ's makes cooking way way easier. I hate big stores and get overwhelmed easily, but even if this place is raging busy, I doesn't phase me. I appreciate their big parking lot because it isn't nearly as scary or dangerous as their other locations. I'm not a fan of 82nd, but love sneaking over here via Johnson Creek Blvd. It is so conveniently located next to other obnoxious big box stores that are helpful to have close by. I will say, I'm not always a fan of all TJ's produce, as I like to go right down the street to Morrow Bothers, but their selection and quality seem much better at this store for some reason. read more

Yo, listen up, folks-this is your boy, straight-talkin' like Kenny Rock at a family reunion, spillin' the tea on Trader Joe's down there on 82nd and Happy Valley in Clackamas. Man, I rolled up to this spot thinkin' it was just another grocery joint, but nah, it's like the store's wearin' a Hawaiian shirt and flip-flops, servin' up deals that make you laugh 'cause they're so damn good. We're talkin' organic quinoa for the price of regular rice-bargains so tight, you'll think the manager's runnin' a side hustle with the Easter Bunny! And unique? Oh, hell yeah. I grabbed this frozen katsu chicken that tastes like it flew in from Tokyo on a budget airline, and don't get me started on their cookie butter-it's like peanut butter and Biscoff had a love child that's sweeter than my ex's apologies. Crew's friendly too, no attitude, just straight vibes like Hey, want a sample of this cheese that pairs with your existential dread? If you're chasin' that everyday steal or some wild flavor adventure, swing by 9345 SE 82nd Ave. You won't regret it-unless you hate savin' money, in which case, stay home and overpay at the bougie spot down the block. I've been going to this one for about five years. In general I've appreciated Trader Joe's service because no matter which one I go to, they're always smiling and nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They must have bad days, but you would never it know it from their attitude. This Trader Joe's really stands out to me because one time my truck ran out of gas because the gauge was broken, and one of the workers there didn't hesitate, ran two blocks down to the gas station, and got me two gallons of gas and paid for it, just out of kindness. That's the kind of care they have for customers. Food-wise, they keep their meat good and fresh, they bake their own bread, and they have free-range chicken. I'm not as into the organic and natural foods that they're known for, but I never ate frozen meals until I tried theirs. It's top of the line. And I'll pay for good food, but their prices are not that high. It's very reasonably priced. read more

I've fallen in love with Trader Joe's! I have seen fellow Yelpers and a few co workers that keep going on about this place and how healthy their foods are. I decided to check them out to see if they really lived up to the hype. They more than lived up to it, they exceeded. I enjoy eating healthy and a lot of the foods I do eat I can find at Joe's for great prices compared to New Seasons. (I still like New Seasons) I'll be shopping at Joe's from now on. I hate that store. Nothing but a bunch of white privileged spoiled wanna be hipster Karen's and their husbands shopping there strictly for the novelty of shopping at Trader Joe's. There is no structure to help shoppers in the already cramped isles, the selection is stale and boring, and far overpriced for it just having the stores name on the label. The only redeeming quality of the store happens to be the cashiers. Despite having to deal with the bull and stress of COVID, they at least act like they care about the customers. read more

This WinCo on 102nd Ave seems to be humming along, since we lost the Gateway Freddy's across the street, this has been our grocery store. We find the WinCo produce and bulk foods to be a couple of the high points. We also got excellent rock fish! The best thing? The employees are pretty cool. We know a few of them by name, it's a great crew. You can clearly see that they are on it. The store just got a remodel, and it looks fine. They dropped self check-out a while ago, and now check-out with human check-out people. Surprisingly, the check-out goes pretty well and it seems they stay aware as the crowd changes. But for those shopping for a family, it's worth coming here because prices are definitely better than big box grocery chains. The aisles are sooooo long, deliberately, so you have to walk past all the items, hopefully igniting spontaneous purchases. The strategy works! Yesterday I picked up a big jar of pepperocini and several bottles of Goldens Spicy mustard because I saw them, and noticed the prices were much less than what I typically pay. I do like the bulk area so you can buy the quantities you want rather than large packages of specialty items. The cashier I had deserves a raise! She busted through the line, ringing everyone up quickly, and even catching the wrong item numbers written on a different customer's bulk bags and corrected them. All with a smile. Lots of parking out front, convenient location.
