I'm so glad that a Trader Joe's opened in Evanston! Now it's my to-go place for groceries. Their salads are perfect for lunch, and for $3.99, they're a great deal. Their lentil soup is great as well. Trader Joe's is also a good place to buy fruit. Bananas are only 19 cents each, and their sliced mangoes and pineapples are a good deal as well. Some of my other favorites are their mini brie bites, the fresh bruschetta, and the salmon jerky. Prices are fair, and I haven't bought something that I didn't like yet. They always have samples too. Great little Trader Joe's! Not as big as some but has a great selection and I haven't missed anything. Not as big a beer selection, but they have a great wine selection. Burden free shopping for parsimonious health nuts! Rarely will you question, "why are these apples so shiny," or "why is this banana a foot long?" My point is the fruit and veggies LOOK like they are produced by Mother Earth and not by the hands of man and weird chemicals. I mean, some chemicals and unnatural machinery probably touched the produce at one point, but it's not ridiculously obvious at Trader Joes. The prices are AWESOME!! Bananas are 15 cents each!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Potassium has never been so affordable! Northwestern students! Ask your friends to drive you, or take a nice walk up there and Uber your way back. I love Trader Joe's. I've only been in this location and one other, so I don't really have much to compare it to. The staff here in Chicago are very friendly, always willing to help. I love the sampling area, and I enjoy the cashiers. I love that the staff always make my son enjoy shopping here too. They give him stickers and a smile. read more

Some of my favorite things from Trader Joe's: bagels, butter almond cookies, flowers!, cheap wine, and fresh fruit:) The only thing that I've ever gotten from Trader Joe's and not liked was their tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner (which broke me out) and their daily moisturizer (which made me super oily). The service is always great and (unlike other stores) no one ever makes fun of me when I ask them to get things off high shelves for me, which happens more often than I'd like to admit... Also! They have a stuffed animal hanging on the wall, and I've heard a rumor that if you are a child and you locate it, you get a small gift:) read more

I love Trader Joe's. They have a really great variety of nuts and dried fruits, snacks, and prepared foods that all taste great. I never leave without a bag of dried mangos. They have a great variety of vegan and gluten options too. Their prices and fair and pretty much stay the same. We really love TJ's. The range of things that are available and customer service are excellent. We really appreciate that people in the wine department can actually talk about their wines. So many items that are much more reasonably priced that at other stores. The bad: Sometimes they run out of things and don't have them in stock again. :( read more

It's great! I love the atmosphere and the lighting! It's so clean and the products are pretty well maintained. They do have a good selections of unique items! There are some Green Tea Infused Mints! Love them! The staff members are quite helpful as well! I'll review this place again in the future. I know this place is fresh around the neighborhood in Evanston! This is by far my favorite grocery store. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you shop there don't be surprised if a sales associate surprises you with a sample of something you are looking at. The staff all get along well and go out of their way to help their customers. I was in Evanston visiting NWU with my son, and wanted to bring back a box of Firecakes donuts for my girlfriend. On my drive back from downtown Chicago to my hotel with the box of donuts, I thought it would be a good idea to wrap the box to try to keep them a little fresher. I stopped in Trader Joe's to see if they could accommodate me. I purchased nothing at the store, but asked one of the workers if there was any way to get the box wrapped. She stopped what she was doing, grabbed a box of wrap and spent five minutes carefully (and happily) wrapping the donuts in both directions on the box. I thought to myself, "This was a small act, but it made me think positively about Trader Joe's in general." I wish I'd caught the young lady's name to be able to give her credit, but I at least wanted to put the positive experience on this site. Thanks, Trader Joe's! read more

Great customer service and the food is great! I had one small mishap with the chicken and they quickly gave me a refund and replacement for the product. Their vegan options are also great! Their veggies could use some work but overall great place to shop and love the prices and quality! Would be nice in the future if they carried more variety of fruit. Really disappointing on vegan options. They're 'veggie' options almost always have egg or milk in them. I saw a video of the despicable and cruel conditions in which their farms keep laying hens and I refuse to buy any product from them that contains egg. All dairy products come from cows kept in cruel conditions and forcibly impregnated so they produce milk. It's heartbreaking. If you're vegan or care about animal welfare avoid trader joe's. Don't buy into their 'humane' campaign. Direct action everywhere has video evidence to show the animals are treated anything but humanely. read more

We just left the Evanston Trader Joes after buying $850 worth of wine and groceries for our wedding. Being totally brain friend and exhausted after flying in from Los Angeles the night before, we were frenzied to find what we needed. The manager on duty not only opened multiple bottles of wine and prosecco for us to try ( we had neglected to think of tasting before hand!), she sent us off with a gift tote bag of waters and snacks as we left. Today while shopping for a few dinner items, the young man who was stocking went into the back room to get the product I was looking for without me asking. It closes at 9PM. The only trader joes in Chicago area that closes at 9 instead of 10. The staff at this one is also extra talkative. Hi and bye is enough, especially if there are long lines. Other than that Trader Joe's is great, just not this location. read more

I have been shopping here weekly for the last few weeks, and they are a lot nicer when it's not close to closing (still don't think it was an excuse the other evening). Even in the daytime, its hit-or-miss whether or not you get a checker or someone helping in the aisles that is friendly. Everyone's been waiting for this location to open and it did not disappoint in the least. The first month it was pretty tough getting parking but now that the novelty has somewhat worn off in this location, it's gotten better. This Trader's got excellent staff as most do and I can find most things here as all seem to be arranged in the same format. I LOVE TJ's and every time I go I have fun shopping. But this particular location regularly stocks rotting fruit. Just a few days ago I grabbed a bag of apples that as rotting. I paid, drove home, and only then noticed the bag was filled with rotting apples! This is January 2018, the bag was marked that the apples were packed in OCTOBER . There was a whole stack of them there. I know TJ's has a great return policy on such things but I didn't want to go back all the way for some apples. I don't really get what the big deal is about this place. In general most of the fresh produce they do carry is par, if not sub par to a major grocery chain like Giant, Gordy's, or Jewel. What they really specialize it is pre-packaged, frozen, or preserved, maybe this is why I am not impressed. Trader Joe's is finally in Evanston!!! The store is beautiful and all of the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was a shopping experience unlike any other! I was able to take my time, discover new and interesting products, and even try a few samples along the way. Oh, and it was cheap!! My favorite products so far are the COOKIE BUTTER (seriously, you have to try it!), mandarin orange chicken, horseradish cheddar chips, peach salsa, joe joe's (their far superior version of oreo's), and of course, some 2 buck chuck! I will definitely be doing all of my grocery shopping here from now on. Love it! read more

This was the most relaxed visit I've had to any TJ's ever. The store Itself is large, and the equally large parking lot was a real plus. It could be that it's a gloomy day out and I went after lunch time but before quittin' time, but I don't care. I've never had a trip go so quickly!
