I love to come to this Trader Joe's. Its super duper busy, all the time. Some days it can be very difficult to find parking and I have had to park in the residential area or on Manhattan Beach Blvd. Most of the time I get lucky and a spot opens up. I love how small this place is. It's easy to find everything you need, and they are adding more items all the time. They are also stocking organic alternatives for many items, at prices that are significantly lower than other stores around town. Bring your own bag, and you can enter to win a free bag of groceries. It is your usual Trader Joe's. Good staff and team members. Good location but parking can get interesting during busy times. Consistent items for purchase with other TJ's. They are good for quick, pre-prepared items and have a small selection of produce. They carry mostly Trader Joe branded products as well. The meat and fish selection is limited. I like TJs for quick items but prefer Sprouts or Wholefoods for a wider variety of produce and more alternatives, especially from local farms and wider selection for items with less salt and sugar already packaged in. read more

My favorite lunch time spot. My go to items are the Greek salad, white meat chicken salad and the Cobb salad. I also love the quick meal options like picking up a soyaki or tika masala sauce and making a yummy chicken dish at home. The frozen meals make great lunch and dinner options. I love the ice cream options here like mochi as well as coconut milk ice cream. The arugula goes great with goat cheese and the raspberry vinaigrette. They also have this great sugar free dark chocolate with almonds and milk chocolate bars. I buy them by the box full. Overall this location is great and the parking is ok but somewhat challenging at lunch time. Sometimes I'll resort to just walking over so I don't have to look for parking. read more

Today the 4th of January two employees claim they do not wash sprouts...organic..from the box....unwashed ....when making today's sandwiches of turkey and cheese on bread...and said they don't wash it for themselves at home and don't have the time to do so...these employees are Carrie and Eileen...really gross considering how sick you can get from unwashed sprouts and should be reported to the health department. How much time does it take to put the small box of greens under running water. Then Eileen looks at the box to notate they are unwashed and then promises to wash the next round of samples while continuing to put out the last of the current samples... read more

I don't normally rate grocery store. It's always a in and out mission for me going on groceries. This This Trader Joe's is a little smaller the one on Rosecrans. The freezer stuff got some frost which weren't so presentable. But I want to leave this 5 stars review to the the cashier, Larry. He's an older gentleman providing good service which I've not been getting since I left Florida. He's very friendly and still fast at his job. I had to go to Trader Joe's to get water and since I was in the neighbor from leaving AT&T store on Manhattan, I came to this one. I was going to do a little shopping but first I had to check to see if they had my cases of water. So I asked the first cashier that had an empty line. I asked him if they had the 24 pack of water (who didn't seem to concern) and he told me no. At the same time another gentleman ( who did seem concerned) who worked there wanted to make sure the customer (me) was satisfied. I think he was listening to my and the cashier I asked about the water when I first came in conversation (I am glad he was listening). He said we have loose bottles over here and if I didn't mind getting those. I said sure I will take them. So he said he can put the water bottles in wine boxes, I said sure thank you so much! I got his name, its Jose. Valery the cashier, who rung me up, had great customer service told me he was one of the managers. Jose was great. His customer service was on point and he wanted to make sure I was a happy customer and I was. When Valery was done ringing me up she helped me to my car. I asked did they take tips she said no. So I wasn't able to tip her. Good thing she said no because all I had was $3 on me lol. Thank you again Jose and Valery. Keep up the good work!! read more

Trader Joe's 1821 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 7 hours ago Subject: I was recently asked by a team member of Trader Joe's not to come into the store as that I am living in my car (I'm 82) This is in California...Manhattan Beach Trader Joe's 1821 Mahattan Beach Boulevard Just today March 13 2019 at 6:01 pm to 6:45 pm I was asked by two staff members one female who says her name is Nadine, blond hair usually back in a braid or just off her face.... but had no name badge and Brett a mate, not to come into Trader Joe's because my daughter and I are offensive to the employees because we are living in our car....and that we have bed bugs and we are offensive to other customers who have complained...that notification has been made and approved by the corporate office. Taken out of context I was talking to two lady friends (and Nadine was behind the counter feeding her face), I see them all the time, and one of them said she has a silver fish infestation in her house so I said recently we got a bed bug infestation in our car seats as of November...everything is in plastic because of it...and I was joking they like to cuddle...we never had this problem before but it is epidemic in Los Angeles...a guy we know working at a gas station has them in his futon and another guy had to sell his car to a junk yard bed bug specialist after six months of bed bugs....we have been shopping at this Trader Joe's for years and always seem to find a snotty person working at this location ...in particular in the past I've reported hygiene problems with the preparation of the food like not washing the raw sprouts and in turn told by Eileen food preparer she doesn't have the time as she continued putting the food out that she would do it next batch....and have observed when preparing the food mate Nadine if that's her real name....she declined to show her name badge, preparing avocados raw from the box..given to her by Eileen....with gloves on and also handling bread so she could put the guacamole style concoction on the bread which is unsanitary and while she stuffs the food in her mouth as she goes and is helped by Eileen blond food preparer who I caught saying that's who I was telling you about inclining her head to me which is amazing since I've known her for a couple years now....I returned a box of cookies because they were too sweet and one of the help had to reference how I ate half the box but yet they were too sweet while Nadine took it in listening intently....I am on a fixed income social security and 82 and do not stand behind smart ass elder abuse...do not shop here. read more

While all Trader Joe's provide a great shopping experience, Trader Joe's Manhattan Beach goes above and beyond in many ways. I am fortunate to live in walking distance of this awesome store and every time I go there to shop, I am treated like family. I don't remember many of the names of the staff who go above and beyond but want to recognize Luigi. Luigi is an extraordinary employee who always goes the extra mile, always gives a very warm welcome, remembers our names and makes me feel like a very valued customer. Finally Trader Joe's is always offering many new delicious vegan and vegetarian options that cater to my diet and are sold at a good price. I get it, I get it. Don't shop on Sunday evenings. Dumbest idea, EVER. But why do the yuppies have to be such parking trolls? There's a line backed up ON Manhattan Ave because they INSIST on waiting for a space that opens up near the entrance. This hasn't happened once, twice or three times. So it's definitely an "issue". My other issue? The produce selection. Adam & Eve wouldn't get much sinning done here because the selection is less than par (forbidden fruit has become hidden fruit), and of that small selection, some of it's not fresh. I expect a lot more from Trader Joe's. The staff can be hot & cold in my opinion. One bunch can be very friendly, bubbly and helpful, as Trader Joe's is infamous for, and the other bunch look like maybe they've had an overdose of the aforementioned yuppie parking trolls and may or may not be taking it out on me. Free samples, free coffee, nice attendants, great quality items...what's there not to love about this place! Only negative is that heavy traffic days like Sunday evenings get crowded because everybody's buying their groceries. This MB location has a tiny parking lot compared to other trader Joe's I've been to so keep that in mind! Try to go on an off-time, like Saturday morning so you're not lost in the crowd. I always pick up their quirky newsletter for a good read, and love their seasonal items(usually limited edition so try them out!) Once I had to split my cart into 3 separate transactions because I was purchasing for different people, and the register lady was very accommodating. Great service. I'm a fan of Trader Joe's. It doesn't replace my regular grocery store but I get certain things from here that I love. Their herb popcorn. Humus. Some of there frozen foods. I usually get some fruit while I'm here. Kerig coffee cups (theirs are filters and not all plastic which is great). And I love their granola bars. This Trader Joe's is probably my favorite. It prices and products are top notch but thats nothing new if you know about Trader Joe's. I love getting Greek Olive oil for $6. I love my Joe's O's a HUGE box for $2 buck. There's always two buck chuck and you don't run into long lines or feel like your slumming it like shopping at Walmart. So if you didn't know. Theres a Chimi-churri steak they sell here now. I made it over my friens house right down the road. We threw it on the Big Green Egg. Followed the directions with the Chimi-churi sauce and then made tacos out of everything and let me tell you it WAS HEAVEN. If you see the chimi churi steak GRAB IT! I got a chunk of ground beef from this TJ's and it was only $2.50 per pound and the quality was outstanding. The crock pot chilli that it yielded was something I could yelp about. But I won't. I will just say how much I like this Trader Joe's. One added thing about this Trader Joe's the crowd is very easy of the eyes. Just like the rest of Manhattan Beach the women in this supermarket shopping around are DROP DEAD gorgeous. Every single one of them looks like they stay away from toxins, exfoliate, does like 5 miles of cardio a day and a ton of Yoga on top of it. Manhattan Beach women stay super youthful and well tones WELL into their 30s and 40s. So thats always an added bonus. read more

Trader Joe's (TJ's) rocks! Out of the three stores that are equidistant from my home, this is probably my favorite location. TJ's is the first place I go to when I have to buy the day to day foodstuff. This particular TJ's is usually on my way so I usually pop in and pick up a few sundry items. I like the specialty foods they stock such as the European candies and cookies, great assortment of nuts, specialty frozen foods, etc. Have you ever wanted to prepare some gourmet chicken tikki masala or a thai curry dish but couldn't spare the hours that go into whipping it up? Whelp, just hop on over to good ol' TJ's and buy a few ready made bottles of the junk! Pick up a package of their "Just Chicken" which is pre-cooked chicken, mix the sauce and chicken together in a pot. If you really want to go gangbusters, pick up a bag of the colorful medley of frozen sliced bell peppers from their frozen foods section and throw a handful into your pot. Let the concoction simmer for 15 minutes and voila!, instant ethnic meal! Serve over some long grain rice and it's the next best thing to dining in Cerritos! I also love chai latte's and when I can control myself and not go to a local Starbucks, I'd just make my own with the chai tea mix they sell. Just mix it with warm frothed milk and BAM!, instant chai tea latte! I should perhaps pick up some paper cups and find someone with piercings to hand it to me to complete the whole Starbucks experience. (Yeah, my friend is concerned that I have an urge to go into a Starbucks whenever I pass one by.) TJ's also has a variety of ready prepared foods for those who are short on time or are just plain lazy to slave over a stove like me! They've got an assortment of salads, sandwiches, ready cooked meats like meatloaf just to name a few. I'm really glad that they are now being more conscious about selling foods without trans fats! You go TJ's, we applaud you! I particularly like the staff at the Manhattan Beach Blvd. location as they are friendly and helpful. It's funny how the cashiers try to strike up a conversation with you by asking you what your plans are for the day or evening, etc. Must be a management thing. I've chuckled at a few customers who are taken aback by unexpectedly being confronted with an intimate conversation and don't quite know how to respond! Standard Trader Joe's in terms of products, however this is a very small, cramped, and crowded TJs. Staff here is VERY friendly and knowledgeable, which is the only saving grace of this location. They know where everything is, have advice for any tips you need, and are just generally nice people. I've got to give this place five stars even if I detest their parking lot and the safety hazard it creates on MBB with cars blocking the street. Why the Hell do people risk their lives to go to Trader Joe's? Because it's awesome, that's why! My wife and I went there at 8:55pm- five minutes to close. They didn't give us any attitude coming in. The store was pretty busy- maybe they didn't close at 9pm after all. I was looking for some of that great Trader Joe brand water with electrolytes but couldn't find any. One of the cashiers pulled out a box cutter and ripped into a new shipment that just arrived for restocking. I grabbed some milk and another cashier opened to help me right away. I asked him when they closed, and sure enough, they do close at 9pm. I commented how relaxed they seemed since they were supposed to be closed and all. He said they stay late to restock, and are used to staying open for their customers. It's no wonder this place thrives. Kudos to Trader Joes. read more

A typical Trader Joe's on the inside (what's not to love about quality/health items at low prices). It's the closest one to my place at .9 miles away, but there are two others that flank it in either direction (the Rosecrans one and the Hawthorne one, each a couple miles away). Notables: Pro: The staff is really nice, nicer than any Trader Joe's I've been to (and I've been to several). They seem to take a genuine interest in customers and are good at holding a warm conversation with you while helping you or checking you out. Con: The parking lot is absolutely minuscule. So far I have lucked out and always found a spot, but I try to do my shopping during the off hours as I frequently work from home. I would hate to come here during peak hours. read more

I live one block away, which believe me is both a blessing and a curse. If I walk at least I'll limit what I buy as I have to carry the bags home because for some reason, I always go in just for two or three items and find myself leaving with two dozen. Silly. But everything is SO good, and the prices (with the exception of most cheeses and deli) are reasonable. The staff are amiable and helpful. The only deterrent to this store is the parking, but as I mentioned, it only affects me if I'm driving west on MB Blvd., it gets very backed up. And if I lived any closer I'd be irritated at the patrons parking on my street but fortunately I'm far enough away that no TJ customers park in front of my house but close enough that I can walk there -- a blessing AND a curse, because I just can't help myself when it comes to Trader's! P.S. The guys there tell me that Thursday is the best day of the week to go, all the goodies are there! read more

This is one of the original Trader Joe's in the area, and has a special place in my heart. I miss the signs they used to post about the majority of the wines, but they have started to bring back the featured wines with some descriptions. But you cannot beat their selections of inexpensive (and good) wines. And if the budget is crunched (or you are throwing a party) ... they have TWO BUCK CHUCK! I love this trader joe's! As a regular of another TJ's in Riviera Village in Redondo for 8 years, it was hard to make the change to a new one. I didn't even set foot in this one for 6 weeks after moving nearby! Thankfully, my expectations were surpassed. This TJ's rocks! No more crazy parking lot like in the Riv. This store is bigger and brighter and is just set up better than my old one. I also noticed the selection seems bigger (probably due to space). I'm sure I will be visiting this store many more times in the future. I just have to say that the originator of TJ's must have been from France in a former life or something. I like TJs, if you shop at TJ's you know the Pros- organic food, decent pricing, and unique items. This TJ loses two stars for the parking lot and service. Oftentimes, the parking lot is a mess. If you see an empty spot in the second row, just take it. Don't back up traffic on Manhattan Beach Blvd by waiting for a spot in the first row. Secondly, it's the least friendly TJ I have ever been to... the cashiers are interesting. Often, I just stand there with my basket when I'm next in line, because they don't pull out the wooden stand. But instead of being helpful or just neutral, they were arbitrary hall monitors scornfully enforcing unposted rules that they said were changing by the minute. Okay, so if the management and the manager can't post a sign and you are going to change policies for the most vulnerable without notice, why not let the poor old lady who read the info from a few days ago that seniors could show their Id & not have to stand outside in a long line to get in to gettheir few items while hoarders with carts overflowing where clogging up the store get a break/ Now you have a Senior Hour which you didn't let the City know or they would have posted it as they do other stores on FB, ND, etc. So two seniors show up at 9 when the store opens & there's a long line to get in and you can't let them first like it was reported you've been doing? You're not allowing Trader Joe's cooler bags as if they are the danger to cashiers but cashiers without gloves or masks are packing the bags and handing each person their receipt? Old people wait in long line with a few items to check out because you can't open up an express lane. The customers were all practicing social distancing . this was my first time at this brand of TJ's. With. so few customers allowed in at one time and so much staff, it was astonishing how poorly they were deployed--not to help customers but to for example stand in front of the long line oblivious to the spacing at the end or how the line blocked one whole side of the frozen food aisle when it could have been down the middle or down a less popular aisle. When the other TJ's were crowded and out of stock and the staff was running around overworked, they were so much kinder and smarter than this staff who were instructed to stand in one place and act like TSA . it seems. read more

This one is conveniently located for pre- or post-beach trips to get water, energy drinks, clif bars, or picnic goodies... gotta love being able to stock up on bread, brie, fruit, and wine while buying a cute basket to carry it all in. All about M--O--L--D--Y ITEMS!! # The Fact: Went there to get an Italian salad already prepared for lunch, back home open the basket, the tomato was moldy...OK no problem this is not a big deal this can happend, no ? Took my car back to Trader Joes and find the manager to get the refund. No words from the manager about the moldy salad, no sounds like "I'm sorry". Got my credit in the store, couple of bucks. What can I get now...hum..hum.. let see the strawberries...what??? they are moldy. I looked at a couple of baskets and a lot are moldy, outch!!! let's go somewhere else...ah!! let's look at the grape juices (for my son)...quick check of the date...oups the date is expired we are in April and the juices are good until end of March. Finally I took a piece of Swiss Cheese (cannot be bad and at least I know where it comes from). Go to the cashier to pay (with my credit written on a paper). The cashier called the manager to ackowledge the purchase and in the mean time he went:: "a bad salad hein ??" I answered yes and told him that a lot of products here are moldy or expired. The killer answer was: "It is up to the customer to sort the moldy product vs good, it is a grocery store and it is expected to have mold products"... Since when are we (customers) supposed to do the job of the Trader Joe's employee ????. It took me 10 minutes to find a bunch of bad products and this guy is telling me that is my job to check (and actually by extension, they are not able to do this job before the opening of the door). That's a joke and Trader Joe's should teach their minimum wages employees (students) to say sorry (and we will try to improve). I have a lot of experience with Trader Joes (same size) in San Diego and the quality is much more better without the silly comments. # Summary Give 1 star for this particular grocery store, not for Trader Joe's in general. They need to care more about the fresh food they sell. They also need to train the staff to not fan the fire and keep low profile when it comes to returned items. read more

Service is super fast and friendly, and it's not rare that if you ask for someone to help you they will get at least one other person to help you find the item or come up with suggestions if it's been discontinued.
