And I look at the label here here's comes from Kanada. Cooking on pasta night I pull out some cheese I bought 3-4 weeks ago. Moldy. Today it was some Boarshead ham from last week. It's slimy and smells funky. It's not the same store or quality it was and founded on. I miss the old Kowalskis and I shop it frequently as I live 3 minutes away. I need to start using Byerlys more. Or go to the Excelsior store like when I run there at lunch while I'm at work.

Honestly it felt like a slightly more affordable Lunds- same kind of set up and not overly huge like a Cub or Hyvee. I saw a couple of flavors of items I don't see at my normal grocery store which was nice. We ended up getting sparkling water that we had never seen before. While we didn't interact with any employees (self check out) I noticed there were a lot of them. I'll definitely be back when I have more time and I'm actually looking to buy groceries. I could see this becoming a regular stop on the way home if our grocery delivery forgot something. I recommend checking it out and if you have time stop and eat in the cafe- that's what will get you in the door! Plus, I can't think of a better way to grocery shop than filling up on Scandinavian pancakes beforehand.

They have a really nice layout. Also, there is a fully stock (and might I say awesome) olive bar that is right up in the front area and I definitely stocked up. They have everything you could want and dream of in a grocery store, they have great meat selection and also everything is fresh and clean. I like how they have upper end options for things but also lower end options if that is what you are in to.. just love the options. There is self checkout that is nice and I appreciate being able to check yourself out when you aren't always feeling like human interaction. I live so close to here so definitely will be back!

They did a great job, it's way more inviting and the produce and deli are especially for a major facelift. They upped their game in comparison to the Lyndale location, but it's still a smaller format store. Either way, I love it. Kowalski's are the best.

I believe the deli and food area has more options available during lunch hour than dinner hour, which make sense. At time there would be yummy samples. They also host events for us to try out new things. Take off one star was because some employee previously offer my kids with religious figures toys. It was very strange and they just randomly give the toy figures to our kids without asking parents consent. It hasn't happen for the past few visits and hopefully won't happen ever again.

With a smile bright as the morning sun and cheer as boundless as a spring meadow, this noble fellow did not mock my quest, strange though it was. Nay, he embraced it with mirth and honor, guiding me with great care through vineyard and produce till the chosen orb was found. Truly, Zachary is a steward of joy, a knight of customer service, and the grape--verily!--was as crunchy as mine heart did hope. Five stars, and may his smile never fade.

Prices did seem a bit more than other stores but not too bad for the convenience. I'd say my issue is with the check out. They have 5-6 cashier lanes and 4 self checkouts. Only 1 cashier available + a bagger. The bagger was having a conversation with the customer and carried on a bit long and couldn't seem to talk & bag at the same time. I ended up going over to self checkout which also took awhile but when I finally got up to one I realized it's because the system is just extremely slow. I was able to wait and checkout before they were done helping that same 1 customer. I get being friendly and providing customer service but it's to a point you need to considerate that a line is forming and people are waiting & some with perishables. I also don't care to converse about the items i'm buying so the bagger being so chatty would have gave me anxiety.

This is an "after" picture of the steak. Of the 16 oz, only about 1 oz had edible meat...the rest was medium rare shoe leather, hence the masticated flotsam left on my plate in he picture. I'm sure they would say I cooked it wrong, but I worked my way thru college as an assistant chef at a famous NYC steak house so I know how to cook meat. Will never buy any meat there again. Besides the meat, the store is fine but a bit over priced as others have said, and the staff is very nice, and I will continue to shop from time to time for convenience as its only 5 minutes away from home. The layout is a little confusing because the door we thought was the entry seemed more like an exit but wasn't marked as such. Didn't interact with the staff but liked that they had a good number of self checkouts even if it feels a little intrusive with a staff member standing by the exist watching the self checkout transactions.
