Trader Joe's sets the bar high for customer service, their free samples, and branded items. Everything is organized very well and logically in the store, and the brightly lit interior and decor makes shopping at this location seem homey. I don't shop here as frequently now that I have discovered Pete's in Oak Park which I find cheaper, but I will come here for specialty items. Good selection of items for people with dietary restrictions, like vegan or gluten-free. Parking lot is limited, but plenty of parking in the garage. This location is a favorite of Loyola medical students. Their European Style Plain Fat-Free Yogurt is the best plain yogurt for smoothies or mixing with some honey and granola. Cannot find this creamy consistency anywhere else. Seasonal items like their spiced cider and pumpkin pancake mix are hard to beat. Great for fresh flowers and refrigerated products like their ravioli and dips. read more

One thing I love about Traders Joe is that they don't carry the tipical brands that every other grocery have. They have many healthier and organic choices. This place is not that expensive and staff are the best. You can always ask anyone working there for anything and they are always happy to help. This is one of my favorite places ever! read more

Picked up filets last night and as soon as I opened them this evening to cook I could tell they were bad. They were grey underneath and had an awful smell. I walked back over to Trader Joe's to replace them and they didn't offer any sort of replacement even though I had pictures of the filets with the date on them. I'm only reviewing this Trader Joe's because it is the newest that I've been to, but I've been to most of them in the area, and this review could be for any of them. Simply put, Trader Joe's is my favorite grocery store! It can't be beat. They have almost everything that a 'big' grocery store would have, but they also have fun and unique items that you can't find anywhere else. Their pumpkin bread mix - YUM! You can find frozen food, household items, produce, wine, beer...I could go on and on. You may not find all of your name brands here, but I would bet that the Trader Joe's versions of the name brands are just as good, if not better! The wine selection is excellent and often priced lower than other grocery stores. Some of the Trader Joe's 'only' wines are excellent. A great stop for an interesting wine for a party or everyday wine to keep around the house or cook with. They also have interesting beers. This is my favorite spot to buy groceries and I am typically surprised (and happy) when my bill is much less than expected - even when I seem to have picked up one of every item in the store! read more

I love this Trader Joe's. It's in a pretty great location, a little off Harlem with it's own private lot in the back. The cashiers and staff are always so friendly and particularly fun to talk to. They always make my shopping experience that much less tedious and less like a chore. I haven't had a bad sample yet from the stand in the back. From the frozen aisles, I was pretty impressed by the packaged meals ranging from the typical American meals to even bibimbap. I remember taking one to work and eating the entire meal quickly. Impressively quick, as are most of the packaged products here. I will say I tend not to purchase fresh produce here because of the price, but I love the chocolates, ice cream, and snacks here. It makes it a little less guilty to eat knowing the products are made from quality ingredients and fair trade. read more

I stopped here yesterday for a few things and I was reminded of why I love this store so much. We are in the middle of a scary, panicked time in our history and like most people my nerves are completely frazzled. This store was a beacon of positivity and calm. The store is immaculately clean and everyone is smiling. I was able to shop safely and pick up some of my favorite comfort foods and that did wonders for my well-being. I wanted to Thank an employee name Johnathan for his kindness during my distressful moment. I separated from my husband and walked around the store several time before Johnathan asked if I needed help. I shared that I can't find my husband. He smile and asked if I wanted a snack while I waited. His smile and act of kindness reduced my anxiety tremendously. As I ate my dried cranberries, I found my hubby. He was worried that something happened to me. We we're both walking around the store looking for each other and missing each other. Throughout the pandemic the crew at this TJ's has done a better job with safety than any place I've been in all of Chicago. Thank you. Seeing how well and respectfully they've handled some difficult situations with non-compliant patrons makes me feel even more safe. The store is always clean and well stocked with courteous employees ready to help if you need anything. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the waste-generating samples counter (I know it's shut down for covid but before then I found it problematic.) I bike whenever possible and am thankful for the spacious bike parking. The parking lot itself is not as accommodating - it's tight layout results in frequent congestion and near misses with shoppers returning to their cars. read more

Apparently Trade Joe's caters to dark chocolate lovers - there is dark chocolate covered almonds, dark chocolate covered raisins, dark chocolate covered peanut butter cups.. but it is hard to find much milk chocolate. My first time visiting here on Saturday and I am impressed. All healthy options of food,drinks,snacks etc and at actual affordable prices! I got quite a few items for only 60$ and the staff is extremely nice and helpful. There's a parking garage right next door that only charges after an hour and a half of being parked there otherwise it's free, and the charge isn't expansive either if you do stay longer. That parking garage offers a convenient little walk way that connects to the grocery store as well. I will definitely be returning! read more

We used to drive to the La Grange store cause we love TJ products and have been coming to this TJ since it opened several years ago. We will keep coming back. The staff is friendly and helpful except on that rare occasion when it's a bad day for whomever you may ask for help. Yes, the parking lot is a shoe box and may be a road block for the feint at heart. But the products are worth it, from yogurt to the frozen section to the nut products and wine. I was happy to see Bordeaux, France wine that I lugged in my suitcase last year across the Atlantic. Almost every time when checking out, gotta get their dark chocolate. A great alternative to Whole Foods a block away. TJ is likely smaller in size than WF, but I always walk out with what I need without spending a whole pay check. read more

I was born and bred to be a disciple of Jewel-Osco, so this review means a lot. I still go to Jewel for some items that are not carried by Trader Joe's, but TJ's is always my first stop. I've been to other TJ's too - in SoCal and the Chicago Loop - but the Oak Park one takes the cake. These are the reasons why: - For the most part, employees are on a healthy dose of happy pills. - You cannot beat their wine selection or prices (the OP TJ's is far superior to others). - During my first trip, an employee saw me shopping with a list and gleefully did my shopping for me while I followed him around. - As a cousin of Aldi's, Trader Joe's has competitive prices. - TJ's makes eating fun, easy, and healthy. - When they notice long lines for cashiers, they ring their magic bell and immediately open new lanes. This last reason might be my own personal preference, but I like that TJ's usually has only one or two varieties of each item. That makes shopping quick and straight forward. For example, do I want organic or not? Do I want to buy a bag of oranges or just one? I like that. It's easy. When I told a cashier that I love Trader Joe's he smiled and gave me a small sticker that read, "I heart TJ's," which perfectly depicted my sentiments. Jewel might be my home, but Trader Joe's has my heart. read more

I may be the third reviewer, but I'm the first to actually GO there. I know, I'm so mature. But whatevs, the Trader Joe's is finally open in Oak Park! And there was much rejoicing. Not quite as big as LaGrange, but easy to navigate and full of friendly "crew members" to help you find stuff. The place was mobbed on its bitter cold opening day, even though there were no special prizes or promotions. All the customers were smiling, not just the ones in the liquor section. And here's the "Oak Park-y" touch: Big hanging artwork of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings over every check-out station. (Did you know each TJs has at least one full-time artist on staff?) And there were about eight of them, so no waiting in spite of the crowds of happy, happy Oak Parkers. Free parking, if you can find it in the teeny lot. If you can't there's a big garage right next door that is free for the first hour. read more

Visited the new TJ's yesterday.It was certainly busy ! Looks like all the locals are just as happy as I am to have a TJ's closer than Park Ridge or LaGrange.Yep,it's crowded and from what one of the employees told us, it is that way,all day 7 days a week.Parking is not the easiest. That said,I will try and go during the week or earlier in the day. The store was a bit crowded for me to get the lay of the land and casually browse, as is my wont while in TJ's. They get an extra star because of the nice wine selection even though I'm more of a beer girl. You can honestly find a nice wine at any price range here. I really do hope they start carrying more brew. I usually stop at trader joes near my job or the one in lagrange. I'm so glad this one is so close to home! I love the pomegranite green tea, the boxed soups, pasta sauces,bacon, chicken breasts...well you get the point. I went around 2pm so the store was empty which was nice. I easily found parking and I was in and out. After trying a cocktail sauce on some meatballs they were sampling I ended up buying it and some peruvian chimicurri rice. So hand rolled turkey meatballs with the cocktail sauce and that rice for dinner tomorrow! Glad to have you in the hood trader joes! read more

I'm a big Trader Joe fan and I imagine this will be a place that I frequent. Friendly staff, awesome samples (which has come to be an expectation of mine for Trader Joe stores). Crazy packed but it was the grand opening so I can understand that. One thing that they Will have to work on is parking. Yes you can easily park in the garage next door but if you try to park in the personal lot it's a pain in the butt. Some aspects of the parking lot design and exit/entrance locations feel very rushed. If you love Trader Joe then you won't be disappointed. The gang's all here read more

Fine location, parking seems kinda of crazy with the adjoining apartment building, though. We came here to pick out dinner, and it had all of the standard pre-made options that I like (salads, sushi), still in abundance at the end of the day. Store is nicely organized. Seems like they are on top of the beer game too- my guy found a limited release beer he'd been searching endlessly for here. Price was about $1 more than Binny's we later found out, but he was joyful to get the product! Fun specialty items, including a good vegetarian and vegan selection keep me coming back to peruse items I'd never even knew existed! read more

Holla for TJs! I love this TJs! The staff is amaze-balls and the food is always tasty--and if it's not, I can return it--no questions asked. You can't beat that! I love that the staff is plentiful and if I ask someone for their opinion about a food I haven't tried, they will tell me (honestly!) or find someone who has actually tried it. Trader Joes makes me happy. The staff is SOOOO over the top friendly...I feel like I'm seeing old friends every time I go through the check-out line. The thing I love most about Trader Joes is the fact that it makes eating healthy, natural food affordable. We really want to eat chemical-free and gmo-free foods, but we can't afford to shop at Whole Foods all the time. Trader Joes is the perfect solution! I read that any item that bares the Trader Joes name is guaranteed to "contain no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, contains no MSG or trans fats, and is sourced from non-genetically modified ingredients". I LOVE YOU TJ'S of OP!! Every time I come here I'm always pleased with the selection. There have been a few occasions when they were out-of-stock in a few of my favorite things for over a month, but they always bring them back. I recommend going during a weekday before 5pm...Weekends are super busy and a little hectic to shop with all the children pushing their tiny fu*king carts around. Everyone that works there is amazing except for this one African American man who has been at the checkout the last couple times I've been at TJ's. He moves at a snails pace, is generally pretty unhappy and doesn't even attempt to start that forced smalltalk that all TJ's employees usually do at the cash wrap. Not even a "Goodbye" or "Have a nice day"...he just hands you the receipt. Anyway, I would avoid him! read more

I have no idea what Trader Joe's does to it's employees, but these people are about the friendliest, most helpful, service oriented people you will find. And the friendliness seems genuine . These people really enjoy working here and helping the customers. They will spend as long with you as you need. It's hard to believe this grocery store is a chain because of all the personalized attention. As for the food and wine - love it! My favorites: the Trader Joe's truffles - they are like chocolate cake wrapped in velvet, the vegetable masala burgers, the sun dried tomato basil hummus - addictive, and my new favorite wine - Alice White "Alexia" which is nothing short of sweet bliss. Yes the parking is limited - although it has been pointed out there is a huge garage that is free for the first hour. I have been several times in the late evening during the week and it wasn't crowded and parking wasn't a problem. The weekends - forget it, very crowded, but I'm glad they are getting a lot of business. I haven't been to Dominck's since Trader Joe's opened in Oak Park. I no longer have to deal with the frowny faced employees of the chain grocery stores. Yay for Trader Joe's! I may never move out of Oak Park! read more

Trader Joe's, after years of not quite getting its feet firmly planted, as finally landed in Oak Park. This particular store is great, staffed by the usual friendly, colorful characters, and always well-stocked with all the stuff that makes Trader Joe's a five-star chain in general. Better still: there are a LOT of people in Oak Park who can actually walk to it. Being one of them makes me feel like I've hit the lottery. Particularly of interest for folks who are not familiar with the chain: great produce, though selection is limited by comparison to larger stores. An unbelievable quantity of creative, reasonable, healthy pre-made or instant offerings. Great reasonable wine and beer. Good chocolate and candy. Great floral section, too. For your humdrum staples, you might get more of a selection at Jewel or Dominick's, but they have at least one type of basics like tissue, paper towels, cat litter, etc. Glad you're here, Trader Joe's! read more

Although the store still holds strong at 4 stars, this 5-star review is based on a customer-service experience I had at this TJ's today. (For my thoughts on the store, please read my original review--and TJ's, if you see this, PLEASE order more Paneer Tikka Masala. You're always out. Arg!) Out of everything at home and running late getting out of work, I stopped by TJ's after (AFTER!) picking my 2-yr-old up from school. He's used to pushing around the little toddler-sized cart on the weekends when few people are shopping, but at 5:20 pm on a Tuesday, it's out of the question. I forced him into a cart seat (Darn TOOTIN') and he freaked. He wanted his mini-cart and it wasn't an option. So after spending 2 minutes trying to reason with him, I gave up--pushing the cart one-handed into the store while holding him down with the other. He is SCREAMING! Was I embarrassed? Yes, yes I was, Of COURSE I was. I would have to be seriously socially challenged not to be. But, being the overworked underappreciated (whatever excuse you can fathom for "neglectful") mother that I am, the need for milk, juice and fruit superseded my embarrassment and I proceeded on. I made it to the fruit section (the back of the store), quietly uttering sweet calm-downings into his ear, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. It's Rich! Super fabulous TJ's associate there to save the day. I JEST? I do not. After asking for my permission and promptly receiving it, Rich handed my son a sleeve of stickers which STOPPED his tears immediately. I'll say it one more time: Immediately! Not only did I no longer have to constantly worry about all the other shoppers rolling their eyes at me (yeah, I know, I did it too in my pre-child snobbery) or about my son's unhappiness of not getting what he wants (Hahahaha--I can't even type that without laughing), but I was able to shop, casually in peace. And guess what? I spent about $30 more than I would have otherwise. Give that man a raise, TJ's, and a pat on the back! I can't say thanks enough! read more

As a self-confessed foodie, I was somewhat embarrassed to have never set foot into a TJ's before. Not that it was an intentional snub; I just dont' have one close to me and I've never really felt the urge to seek one out. I was out in the OP with my friend the chef yesterday and decided this particular store was gonna be the lucky one to pop my TJ's cherry. - Parking was okay, relatively easy. - The store clerks were friendly, if a little chatty. - It's a small store - but my friend says thay're all like that. - I liked the frozen good section. - The prices didn't astound me, they were fine. - I was impressed with the number of organic and "all-natural" products they have there. - Was also impressed with the wine section that took up like 1/3 of the store. Overall, I'd go again if I were visiting my friend and needed something from a nearby grocery store, but I wouldn't go out of my way. They have nothing I can't find at my usual grocery store, and the prices and quality aren't pervasive enough for me to swerve off Harlem for a quick pit stop. It fits Yelp's 3-star definition of, "A-OK." read more

I love Joe! I used to only go to whole foods but then discovered Joe's. Cheaper prices and great quality food, say what? Cheaper and same quality? Now that's a steal! They have some really unique items like their Japanese mochi balls (ice cream balls that are yummmmy) Annnd if you find the squirrel you get a prize. On my last trip to Joe's I found said squirrel and I told a worker and they went away and came back with a treasure chest! of lollipops! Isn't it great to feel like a kid again? read more

I love this place to itty bitty pieces! lol Seriously! This place has a great selection of natural organic foods and not to mention they have amazing prices! Every time I come here the sales associates are always very friendly and ask if I need some help. I love their selection of dried fruit and nuts makes a great and healthy snack. I never mind a visit to the TJ's OP doing the merry-go-round that starts with my hummus, then passes through a limited but often tasty fruit selection, bumps through the cheeses and breads, and finally, ends in the craft brew, some TJ's labeled and others not, section where I whirl wide-eyed and frothy. The employees are always friendly and genuine giving the store a local feel. As I have said before, I am a sucker for quality, and TJ's got me. By the way, they do have extensive and popular frozen food and wine sections that rarely disappoint and will leave your wallet relieved.
