This is a black owned grocery store owned by a Pastor and his daughter. Living Fresh on Roosevelt is a really convenient spot to shop. One of the first things I appreciated was the huge parking lot--it makes stopping in stress free!!!! . Prices are decent overall, and the store is well organized . While some of the meats looked a little questionable to me personally, everything else I picked up was in good condition. The hot bar is definitely a highlight. The oxtails were delicious, and the macaroni and cheese was flavorful and comforting. A nice bonus is that you can get a slice of cake for just a dollar with your dinner, which felt like a great deal. I was also able to find some really nice items I wasn't expecting, and the customer service was friendly and helpful throughout my visit. Overall, it's a solid neighborhood store with some great food options and good value. read more

A hidden gem grocery/market store located in a strip mall in Forest Park. Coffee bar, healthy juice bar and hot food bar where you purchase a hot soulfood meal. The grocery store offers a variety of meats, fresh fruits, vegetables and homemade cakes and pies. Nice and clean, the shelves are well stocked, the aisles are easy to walk down. Some of the prices are a bit ridiculous. I've shopped here a few times and it's always been empty. Hopefully, this market can get some support and social media exposure for more shoppers. I also rarely see anyone working on the salesfloor stocking. There is one cashier at the register, self check out and a service desk up front. read more

I got some good produce at Living Fresh Market that I enjoyed as well as tofu. The store was large and looked like they had a wide selection and large variety of food. They had a sizable parking lot. The store has a convenient location. It looked like they had a lot of good prepared food as well. The prepared food looked like food that I really desired to see and to eat but did not find much at other stores, e.g., black eyed beans/peas. 4/13/2026 Sorry, long review for Living Fresh Market, Forest Park, IL I had a very unpleasant and disappointing experience at this store. I was shopping with two friends, and from the moment we entered, one of the cashiers (black, elder lady, with shabby twists hairstyle) began watching us closely and following my friends around the store. There was no reason for this level of suspicion. At one point, the cashier instructed a security guard to check my friends' SMALL shopping bag (which they had from a previous store we shopped at). The guard searched it, found NOTHING, but the surveillance didn't stop. The cashier continued to watch us, signal to others and her manager, and make us feel singled out and unwelcome. It became so obvious that I addressed it directly with the manager when she came out to the floor. Instead of acknowledging the situation, the manager attempted to dismiss it, even though the behavior was clear and ongoing. The manager pretended to be courteous because she was exposed for trying to appear as if she was unaware of what was going on, as we informed her, we knew why she came out of her office and knew the clerk/cashier called her to the floor. My friends were expressing the matter with her, I walked away out of disgust and to finish up my shopping to get out of there, it was totally unpleasant. The manager stated there had been a prior theft in the store (not sure when), a guy stole cosmetics; she disclosed. This does not justify profiling or targeting customers. One person's actions should not lead to others being treated with suspicion, especially when they've done nothing wrong! During checkout, we continued to be watched, by the same cashier/clerk, she checked out at a register next to us to continue her surveillance; staring, mean-mugging, she carried on AWFUL! She also followed us out as we exited the store, which felt completely inappropriate and unsettling. She was very ignorant and rude. Ironically, I only shopped here because I had a gift card that could only be used at this store--otherwise, I would NOT have stayed. Based on this experience, I will NOT be returning; I felt VIOLATED! The only descent experience I had was the cashier at checkout, who was a young man, he was respectable and kind. In addition to the treatment we received, the store also needs to improve its product quality control. I purchased probiotic gummies that were EXPIRED, they were very hard & old. Attention should be focused on ensuring customers are sold safe, fresh products, not on unjustified surveillance of shoppers. Overall, this experience felt discriminatory, unprofessional, and unacceptable. I hope management takes this seriously and implements better training around both customer service and bias awareness. read more

I was looking for fair and reasonable prices on thing I order and I found Living Fresh Market. They don't have everything I want. But they have a few so I placed a test order of them and it was for 107. And some change. Everything was delivered on time, on plan and flawlessly. So my next step will be to see if they can carry a few more items and so they can have more of my business. As I would rather give them the business than a big box business who's headquarters are in another state and help the local community. I live right down the street from this great grocery store. The store is always clean and staff friendly throughout. I can never understand why this store is so empty when I go. Around the Forest Park area, this store has the best selection of items that I used to only find when I was living in Florida. I recommend trying Conecuh sausage, which I have only found here. Furthermore, the sheer amount of variety of products found here is amazing and the prices reasonable.I highly recommend shopping at this establishment. Living Fresh is a local black- owned grocery store. Aside from regular grocery items, they have baked goods, a deli, hot food, a seafood section and even a coffee bar. I like coming here to find new products because they carry a lot of items from minority owned businesses that you cannot find in other grocery stores. I also like their meat section because I get a lot of smoked meats here at reasonable prices. Sip and Savor has a coffee counter in the store and their beverages are delicious. The store is very clean, the staff are helpful and there is ample parking. I recommend checking them out. read more

I am not sure how this place is opened. Most of the green produce was withered, old dates on prepackaging and I couldn't tell until I got home but my meat was molded. They don't even have anyone going through the old poultry and throwing it out. Watermelon was mushy and old on the inside. Definitely liability issues going on with the business. Living Fresh Market in Forest Park has plenty of wide parking spaces and clean/clear aisles. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful since I first walked into the door. Maybe it was not open during the time I arrived, however I saw a coffee bar, and a popcorn stand. I was looking for a particular item in freezer section and grocer walked with me directly to the product, thanks! I usually go to grocery during non busy hours (opening time or just before closing). I was nearby waiting for a store to open so I dropped in for the 1st time. Looks nice on the exterior so why not give them a try. Are they really living fresh??? Well not really. Select produce was "fresh." The rest was about to go on to produce heaven. It's really clean, spacious in here. If u know your produce like I do, u will refrain from buying much. I bought cucumbers(2/$1), strawberries($.99), spinach($1.29 ea bunch), & cilantro(2/$1). Those were some of the items on my list. I still need broccoli, bananas, grapes, avocados, lettuce...I guess I wait to go to my uncle...Pete's(Fresh Market). I give them props for being in the area. I do not recall another grocery store nearby but if u have a car, u may want to drive a mile or 3 to the next store for "freshness." read more

I decided to go check out living fresh market after all the hype on their Grand opening. I wanted to get a cup of coffee at their new coffee bar, and check out the new store. My first impression was great when I walked in. Everything looked fresh and very clean. When I went to check out the bakery dept I found that to be disappointing. The coffee bar that I was most interested in, there was no one their to serve me. Infact after walking around the store, I didn't see any employees except for the women behind the bakery counter and a cashier when I was walking out. Can't say much has changed since I was last their. Except for looking cleaner. read more

I shop here a lot. Usually it is great. Today, however, I bought tortilla chips. Got home and ate one then got very sick. Checked, and they expired in August of 2019. In their respect, I did call and they offered me a refund if I came back with the bag. As I'm in and out of the bathroom vomiting, and as the smell makes me sick, and as there is a pandemic... it didn't seem worth the 4 dollars. I will give Living Fresh many kudos for having the largest, well-stocked selection of ethnic foods, like Asian and Italian ingredients, that I have seen in any local grocery store. It spans several aisles in the store, and I can find ingredients that typically I'd have to go to smaller ethnic grocery markets for. I will come here for Asian ingredients, rather than having to go to Chinatown or Argyle. They also carry tofu! Price-wise, I think prices are actually a bit pricier than other big local stores like Pete's and Tony's, and definitely pricier than the grocery section of the Walmart next door. Their produce is not the freshest, but you might be able to find more diverse types of produce like plantains. They will separate very ripe produce and label it as discounted. I wish more locals shopped here, because I think it is a great addition to the Forest Park community. You might be surprised what you can find here! read more

Since Ultra left I have gone to Walmart, down the street as they have fresh produce and a good variety, plus get my necessities for cheap. Yesterday, I ventured into Living Fresh it is great, tons of fresh stuff and a Huge variety of food. But the prices are super high!!! To get salad items, fresh produce, soups, a few other things over $100 where I know Walmart would have been around $60 and I could of got my necessities. I give tons of good ratings but this one the prices are just too high in my opinion, but the variety and freshness of the store in those respects are a plus!!! read more

Their fresh produce is better than Mariano's and since they are close to our office in Oak Park I go their to get groceries and save on basics like toiletries. Absolutely love their hand cut meats. The butcher came out to meet me once to answer a question I had about steaks. Great service and meat and fish selection is outstanding. Living Fresh grocery is big too! They have everything I need in a grocer, Living Fresh even has a section for every type of ethnic food like Italian, Mexican even Kosher favorites! Living Expired Market would be a more correct business name. I tried. I really really really tried to give this place a chance. It would be so convenient for me, since Tony's and Jewel are both a further drive. However, on my latest visit (probably been more than a dozen times at this point), I had a revelation. The time I save by not driving further and waiting in the longer lines at Tony's and Jewel is basically offset by the amount of time I need to spend looking at the expiration date of EVERY SINGLE FOOD ITEM that I buy. I wish I was joking. On my last, and unless I need something like paper plates or trash bags, final visit, I encountered the following: * Went to the deli counter. First thing I noticed was that a significant amount of the turkey and chicken on display had expired in late March. It was late April at the time of my visit. Spent 10-15 minutes 'in line' at said deli counter, with a grand total of one person ordering one thing in front of me. None of what I asked for could be identified (strange, exotic items like oven roasted turkey breast). Got the food home and pretty sure the expiration dates reflected on the display case also accurately reflects the expiration date of the meat that was cut for me. I know the difference between expired and non-expired deli turkey, and the crap I got from there is nearly inedible. * Expired pickles. Yes, pickles do expire. I've never encountered such a thing at home or anywhere else, on account of them being $@$@#ing pickles, but Living Expired Market managed to pull it off. After digging around a bit, I found a non-expired jar, though not the type of pickle I originally wanted (they were ALL expired). * It was now time to pick up eggs. As usual, some were expired or about 3 days from expiry. However, I found a treasure trove! Eggs with an expiration date almost a whole month in the future! I opened one to check it... broken. I opened another to check it... broken! 3rd time was the charm fortunately, but it seems like they stock their eggs with the grace of a drunken rhinoceros. * Expired Ruffles. Expired. Ruffles. Writing it one more damn time, since I'm still having trouble comprehending that I had to pay attention to the expiration date on a bag of $@-#&#ing potato chips at what is supposed to be a major grocery store, and not some gas station in the middle of Wyoming. After poking around a little, I found a non expired bag. Once more... I had to search the store shelves. For a non expired bag. OF RUFFLES. * In addition to these standout moments, I've also encountered gems like moldy garlic, expired bagels, and expired bread. So there you have it. Pretty much the only positive thing about this place is you never have to wait in line, because it's always a ghost town. The down side of that - it will always be a ghost town as long as people need to check the EXPIRATION DATE ON RUFFLES when shopping at your store. I also need new turkey meat that doesn't taste like it was packed during the Carter administration, so I guess I'm going to deal with the crowds at Tony's or wherever else from now on. I tried, Living Expired Market. I really really tried. For anyone else interested in going there - get things like paper goods. I don't know about beer - does beer expire?
