This location is always so busy. The parking here is busy and small compact. Its a good location and convenient too. . Ambiance here is always busy with lots of people in and out. . Food is always fresh fruits and veggies. I like coming here to get their dried fruits to snack on. I like the sauce selection here and salad dips too. . I got to snag a purple lavender tote which is insulated. Its the best bag to carry for food to keep cold or warm. I use it for traveling and its a good bag to keep in the back of the trunk to bring goodies back. . Also I love looking at their cheese selection here. There is so many and I always get inspired to build a charcuterie board. I love it every time I get to look at the fresh flowers here too. Adj: Adequate and Above Average, but Patience required for Parking Not my favorite Trader Joe's location, but alas, this one is centrally located and near several of my more frequented places for healthcare and work, so this is definitely a desired TJ's in the greater Sacramento area. I mean, it is right near Sac State only about a mile away and it's on Folsom Blvd near East Portal Park, specifically off 50th, but the parking lot is very challenging since it's small and there's not a great way to get in and out and most times of the day it's a busy place. However, I think middle of the morning and early afternoon seem to be not too bad, if you can swing it, definitely avoid coming during any after work rush even on a weekday, and especially avoid coming on the weekends when everyone's stocking back up for their groceries and/or for hosting events at their house or to bring food and goodies to friends' house or parties. There are several areas I really do enjoy exploring whenever I come to TJ's and this one is no exception. I really like their floral dept which have a great variety of flowers, succulents, and other plants, they are always in good shape, healthy, vibrant, and reasonably priced. Another area is their snacks aisle where I find some new products every time. Of course, I have to exercise some self-control with that aisle, esp. when there's new kinds of chips as I'm a savory type of person and I still recall the beloved honey mustard kettle potato chips which they had suddenly discontinued about 2 decades ago that I still sorely missed. The BBQ kettle chips is an ok stand-by all these years, but I really do miss the honey mustard one. I even thought to generate a petition of sad and disappointed customers who also love that flavor so much that they too, want to see it come back. Alas, there's been so many new products that have rolled out that really, it's whatever TJ discovered demand for and they are very creative with their new inventions whether savory or sweet. Finally, I have to appreciate that they have very reasonably priced staples that have stayed consistently affordable. Like bananas which I usually buy from Safeway or Costco now, but for a long time, I would get them here when I brought my toddlers for their favorite supermarket since they have little carts here and they would put a few individual ones in, being careful to pick out the biggest ones possible since they were 19c EACH, and not by the pound. Fun times were had as my (now big) littles insisted on comparing sizes of their chosen bananas. The price has gone up to 23c each now, but where else would you find such amazing value for a healthy snack that's natural and ready to eat and totally portable. Haha... That's just one example of how TJ's really does provide some great loss-leaders and extreme-value type items so we can allocate some $$$ towards the more fun and more expensive, but still fairly priced exclusive items they sell. As for service, the staff are friendly and helpful, and usually easy to find for questions. Overall, TJ's great, maybe this location is not the easiest to shop at due to the parking situation, but I still appreciate the specialty store that is TJ's and am glad for this location in addition to others in the greater Sac metro. It's Trader Joe's how can one not love this place. Came here with my man to grab some dinner and of course ended up with so many random things. You don't go to Trader Joe's knowing what you need..... basically it tells you want lol. Grabbed some new offerings some wine, fresh flowers and an assortment of snacks I didn't need. First time at this location. Great customer service and helpful staff. We came on a Sunday, heavy traffic in the parking lot but a worker directed cars to areas where parking was available. Trader Joe's always has a good selection of items for frozen and packaged items. The frozen foods section you'll find a good variety of all types of foods and even ethic foods. The produce , meat, and deli items is very limited. Not the best place to for fresh meat. This location has the worst parking out of all the Sacramento locations. The parking lot is small and the spaces are tight. If you have a truck or sub you might want to bring a compact vehicle to fit in the spaces if you don't want to get your car dinged or scratch. Trader Joe's has some of the friendliest and most helpful staff around--they're always upbeat, kind, and make the shopping experience better. The products are great and there's always something new and fun to find. That said, the store is always super crowded, and the parking is virtually nonexistent, which can make quick trips a bit stressful. I love that they carry wholesome healthy items! They have really cute Easter treats right now. None that are dietary friendly though. Man that parking lot gets crazyyyy though! Some people get a lil coo coo for coco puffs. Also a bummer that they aren't dodgy friendly. It's also small so options are limited, but they have things you can't find elsewhere! This is by far the worst Trader Joe's in the Sacramento area. Parking is terrible and the staff act like they don't want to be there. On several occasions the attitude of the checkers is that of the inconvenience towards the patrons that shop there. Today I witnessed Danny be rude and "inconvenienced" by the gentleman in front of me who placed is hand cart on the ground. Danny made the guy walk back from the packing area to pick his cart up and set it on the checkout station and he gave me attitude about my child being in the main compartment of the cart. I find this behavior uncalled for and inappropriate as I know the standards of Trader Joe's to require the respect towards those that choose to shop here. read more

Trader Joe's does not take you serious when you speak to manager about an employee guy who keeps coming around me when I'm in the store. Though it may not make some people uncomfortable he makes me uncomfortable as I get to a area where I shop (meat) he's there he then hangs around very close to where I'm at and it makes it hard to move around him to buy items. He is overwhelming in my opinion as he makes it a point to surround the area where I'm shopping and stares at me. I feel very uncomfortable. I called the manager spoke to Sarah she said " Oh we train our employees to be friendly." I said yes I know what friendly is but he is going over board. She continued to just brush it off and then said I'll speak to him. Then 3 days ago as I was going to parking lot with my purchased groceries there he was outside where I was again. He knows there is no Camera outside of Traders joes so I felt he was taking advantage of that. I'm going to call Trader Joe's again and speak to a different store manager. I find it very awkward that he continues to do this after I assume Sarah manager spoke to him as she said she would. I'm this day and age people just want to go get their groceries and not made to feel awkward and ignored as the problem is persisting. I will take this further if I have to. I hate making trouble for anyone but I feel this guy should head the warnings and respect the customer requests to stop, I will be following up. *Note this is the closest market to me and with gas prices going up I would hate to stop shopping there for reasons listed. I'm obsessed with TJ's! I had never been to a Trader Joe's when I was younger so once I visited as an adult, I went crazy! I always leave with several bags and I HAVE to try all their new goods. The staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. This store in particular is very clean as well. My only gripe at this location is the parking. Oof it is rough. I get really overwhelmed in Trader Joe's (autism) and it's hard for me to find things I need. But this specific store - the one on Folsom - is always the best. Today one of the employees helped me find an item I had looked for several times and somehow missed - which I had just given up and was going to leave with only 1. (I definitely wanted 2!) Service - Ample people around to address your questions. Very friendly and conversational at the register too, which is always nice. This place just loses me at the parking hence the rating. They sometimes have people guiding you during the busier times, but it can be a pain in the neck at this time. Couple that to someone parked too close to the line and on an angle and then someone literally up your rear, it's a very stressful experience. They had an overflow parking lot and that was a game changer, but that no longer exists. I honestly find street parking half the time. I think it's a huge inconvenience and a reason why I don't go sometimes. Food - I would say you have your normal selection of TJ items. This is the Trader Joe's closest to us and while we don't stop by super often, there are staples that we love to pick up here. It's located in East Sac surrounded and walking distance from a lot of the homes here. The parking is just ok and can fill up quickly when it's busy, but there are more spots if you drive towards the back. I'm jealous of people who can walk here for sure. We try to go during less busy times to avoid the crowds. Once you're inside it's easy to navigate, they're always well stocked and the staff members are so nice. When I'm here I typically pick up salads, cheese sticks, frozen veggies (corn and peas), their little frozen wontons, couscous, sunflower seeds and sometimes some chocolates (the dark chocolate pistachio toffee is my fave). They have great pricing on a lot of their items and have an awesome selection of sauces, pastas, seasonings and more ingredients for cooking. If you want a lower lift option they have prepared foods in the refrigerated and frozen section that are easy meals. They do such a great job with the checkouts to keep things moving. Well, the parking lot is legendary. Since I moved here seven years ago it was always a struggle to get a spot or leave. Today, an entitled East Sacramentan in a white Range Rover almost took me out in order to beat me out of exiting the parking lot. They have typical things that Trader Joe's has (never nice plants like the Arden/N. sac location), and the reshuffle of aisles has done no favors, but it's just the attitude-laden people who shop and work here that make the experience miserable. Today I left one line after witnessing a checker and a customer have a side conversation with whispers and chuckles about problems with women/girlfriends that was frankly creepy...only going to a line with two women who had a side conversation the whole time about how people have no clue how hard their job is, and how shitty their dental insurance is. I'm not sure if I heard hello or thank you. Maybe asked if I wanted a bag. I'd just seen my doctor in midtown and decided to stop here at my old TJ's to pick a few things up. After today I do know that this location is off my radar permanently, and I remain grateful for my neighborhood far from East Sacramento. I'll continue to enjoy the Elk Grove Trader Joe's if I want to stock up on their specialities. read more

I visited this location recently and had a very bad experience. Trader Joes has always been my go to grocery store. The staff are always nice and very helpful and shopping there is one of my favorite pastimes. The problem was with a cashier named Camden. He started out nice but ended very rude when he asked me about Halloween. When I told him I do not celebrate the holiday keep in mind I'm in my mid 60s he preceded to say how could you not celebrate halloween I told him my reason which was its not my kind of holiday. Who doesn't love Trader Joe's?? They have great prices, quality food, and amazing customer service. Some of the stuff they carry is only available at TJ's and not at other grocery stores. The interior of this joint is awesome because they have a mini Tower Bridge over the frozen aisle, very iconic. The employees are very friendly and helpful. You can ask them anything and they know where it is or what to recommend. The location is poor. I love going to East Sac. The vibe that is over there feels like a time capsule. It feels so laid back and old timey. The only problem with this location is THE AWFUL parking lot, I think everyone can agree that this is the worst parking lot of any establishment in all of Northern California. It's literally a parking lot to get into the actual parking lot. People wait for someone to back out and it bleeds onto Folsom Blvd. finding a spot on the weekend is almost as impossible as it is to leave once you shopped. People are rude and try to steal your spot, carts everywhere, no traffic control, people drive the wrong way in the back alley or the exit only "entrance" to the parking lot. It's a disaster. If you had to pick one grocery store to shop at for the rest of your life you'd pick TJ's... without even second guessing it. I've never not enjoyed a Trader Joe's but this location is my 'home' TJ's, meaning the one closest to where I live! Yes, the parking sucks, but it sucks in an endearing way (As in, Trader Joe's is the only grocery store I will wait 10 minutes for someone to back up and leave their spot lol). Staff are so nice here, like some of the nicest staff you'll encounter at any grocery store. You can tell people like working here (although you better let them unionize, Trader Joe's!). Staff are always incredibly helpful whenever I can't find something (and it's typically right in front of me). You know the rest of the deal- Trader Joe's has the best and most creative grocery store products all at reasonable pricing. I don't get why anyone would want to go to the Safeway in East Sac (which is somehow more expensive) when there's an incredible Trader Joe's just a few minutes east of it! Completely worth it! As for the ambiance/ environment, it's fun and it's an experience. Which I cannot say about any other grocery store. TJ's is simply the GOAT grocery store. Funny how I never review grocery stores, but Trader Joe's is exceptional. I'm pretty much here (Folsom location) once a week almost every Saturday after the gym. Saturday morning is better, less crowded and more parking. The parking lot is not small, but it gets full and chaotic on Sunday and around dinner time when people are picking up last minute ingredients. Floral - The best selection of bouquet of flowers and plants! Buy you Mother's Day and Valentine's Day bouquet here. Produce - Fresh and seasonal. They even sell dragon fruit and jicama! Wine - Where are you going to find a $1.99 or $2.99 bottle of wine that is decent? Seasonal/New Items - Each month or season, TJ will release or bring back seasonal items. It's a great marketing gimmick. For Example, Truffle ketchup and ube mochi is only available during the summer months. Pumpkin items are only available in the fall. They release a boba kit this week. They might not carry everything like Safeway or Sprouts. For my small family of four, I don't need 5 pounds bag of potatoes or broccoli. I also don't want to spent hours doing grocery shopping each week walking around the stores and waiting in long lines. I have a lot of Yelp review to write...lol Super friendly and helpful staff. Store shelfs are replenished often and neatly arranged. The cashier told me that the bread I was about to purchase will expire tomorrow and asked someone to bring me one that has longer expiration date. I mean how awesome is that! read more

I absolutely adore all the varieties of frozen food options here. It's my go to place to find a quick and easy meal. I picked up a bouquet of roses, salami, & Green Goddess Gouda cheese. If you're a fan of Gouda, you must try the Green Goddess one. The flavor is light and very satisfying on salad and crackers. The only con with this location is the parking situation. Their parking lot is always packed when I get there because it's their peak time the afternoon they have the freshest flowers and I love all the deals. They always showcase on their shelves. I agree regarding the parking lot and it's so tiny people don't stay here for long because they don't want their cars to be hit by other opening the doors of their cars. Relatively easy to get in and out, clean inside and spacious. They have a funny miniature of yellow bridge inside. The neighborhood seems to be OK and the people here are just regular middle class, or so it seems to me. People is right about their small parking lot, but still that does not bother me so much. The thing that bothers me the most is their employees like to smoke in the back of the store which is right next to the back parking lot. Yesterday, I had to park in the back of the store because the parking lot was full in the front. As soon as I got out of the car, I had to breath in all those smoking because the trader joe employees was smoking in that area where they hang out which is right next to the back parking lot. I had to breath in all those smokes. I was so mad. The area where they smoke was just right next to the back parking lot. This is what we as a customer have to go through. Second hand smoke is worst than first hand smoke. This is something that they REALLY need to change. read more
