    Sunday crowds

Going to Trader Joe's always seems like a mission lol, starting with the parking lot. Though the parking situation has improved immensely with the addition of the parking lot next door. The staff is always pleasant and helpful, always willing to check in the back for a missing item. I try to go at odd hours to beat the crowds but apparently Tuesday early afternoon is very popular! I do wish the pricing would go back down a bit, many items have jumped upwards of $1.

Adj: Adequate and Above Average, but Patience required for Parking Not my favorite Trader Joe's location, but alas, this one is centrally located and near several of my more frequented places for healthcare and work, so this is definitely a desired TJ's in the greater Sacramento area. I mean, it is right near Sac State only about a mile away and it's on Folsom Blvd near East Portal Park, specifically off 50th, but the parking lot is very challenging since it's small and there's not a great way to get in and out and most times of the day it's a busy place. However, I think middle of the morning and early afternoon seem to be not too bad, if you can swing it, definitely avoid coming during any after work rush even on a weekday, and especially avoid coming on the weekends when everyone's stocking back up for their groceries and/or for hosting events at their house or to bring food and goodies to friends' house or parties. There are several areas I really do enjoy exploring whenever I come to TJ's and this one is no exception. I really like their floral dept which have a great variety of flowers, succulents, and other plants, they are always in good shape, healthy, vibrant, and reasonably priced. Another area is their snacks aisle where I find some new products every time. Of course, I have to exercise some self-control with that aisle, esp. when there's new kinds of chips as I'm a savory type of person and I still recall the beloved honey mustard kettle potato chips which they had suddenly discontinued about 2 decades ago that I still sorely missed. The BBQ kettle chips is an ok stand-by all these years, but I really do miss the honey mustard one. I even thought to generate a petition of sad and disappointed customers who also love that flavor so much that they too, want to see it come back. Alas, there's been so many new products that have rolled out that really, it's whatever TJ discovered demand for and they are very creative with their new inventions whether savory or sweet. Finally, I have to appreciate that they have very reasonably priced staples that have stayed consistently affordable. Like bananas which I usually buy from Safeway or Costco now, but for a long time, I would get them here when I brought my toddlers for their favorite supermarket since they have little carts here and they would put a few individual ones in, being careful to pick out the biggest ones possible since they were 19c EACH, and not by the pound. Fun times were had as my (now big) littles insisted on comparing sizes of their chosen bananas. The price has gone up to 23c each now, but where else would you find such amazing value for a healthy snack that's natural and ready to eat and totally portable. Haha... That's just one example of how TJ's really does provide some great loss-leaders and extreme-value type items so we can allocate some $$$ towards the more fun and more expensive, but still fairly priced exclusive items they sell. As for service, the staff are friendly and helpful, and usually easy to find for questions. Overall, TJ's great, maybe this location is not the easiest to shop at due to the parking situation, but I still appreciate the specialty store that is TJ's and am glad for this location in addition to others in the greater Sac metro. We're spoiled to have so many in California!

Trader Joe's always has a good selection of items for frozen and packaged items. The frozen foods section you'll find a good variety of all types of foods and even ethic foods. The produce , meat, and deli items is very limited. Not the best place to for fresh meat. This location has the worst parking out of all the Sacramento locations. The parking lot is small and the spaces are tight. If you have a truck or sub you might want to bring a compact vehicle to fit in the spaces if you don't want to get your car dinged or scratch. For that reason. Bring my wife's small compact car.

As per usual, the service here is amazing. I absolutely love this place. They're always so kind and they always have the best selection and I'm so grateful that whoever owns the place was thoughtful enough to make the flowers a price that is affordable for me. I'm always taking the flowers to my son's grave and it can get really costly picking up fresh flowers and taking them over there or plants so I'm very very thankful..

Been hunting down this tree. Finally found it. Cashiers were nice but store was so busy.

I love that they carry wholesome healthy items! They have really cute Easter treats right now. None that are dietary friendly though. Man that parking lot gets crazyyyy though! Some people get a lil coo coo for coco puffs. Also a bummer that they aren't dodgy friendly. It's also small so options are limited, but they have things you can't find elsewhere! I love how they label things that are dietary inclusive. People working there are quite friendly too, they seem happy! One of my favorite local grocery stores but beware, it gets busy!

I regularly stop in to pick up treats, drinks, produce like mushrooms and okra, and their poke and hot meal options. I also like their home goods sections with so many cool ramen bowls, sauce containers, and utensils. I'm always excited when I stop in when it's slower because I can take my time browsing. Whenever this happens I end up leaving with a lot more items. I appreciate that they carry a wide variety of items including some ingredients and items that are hard to find in the US and even at other Asian grocery stores. I've stopped into many different stores and I feel like Oto's has variety and quality at a great price. They do have their own parking, but be careful because it can be pretty tight and there's usually a good amount of cars coming in and out.

But none of those reasons are the real reason I truly love Oto's,let me tell you what I really love.....Late last year I decided I was going to learn how to make my favorite food in the world and that is sushi.I went ham,I got the knives I got the kits,I got the rice maker,I got all the seasonings but what I didn't have was a spot to pick up the highest level of fish that was needed to really make homemade sushi pop and that is where Oto's came in to save the day. Their daily "sushi-grade" tuna and salmon that they sell in the back of the store is so next level-even a novice like myself cannot mess up a homemade sushi meal. They have so much to offer at Oto's,all the different levels of salmon and tuna, depending on your budget but all of it is amazing. I will forever be indebted to Oto's for helping me raise my sushi game at home and making my wife think that I'm just the best sushi maker-when it was always just the high quality fish offered at Oto's that did the work-Thank You Oto's for that. In closing-if you ever find yourself in the Land Park area and want to see what all the hype is about at this incredible spot or maybe you just want to try your hand at some home sushi making,be sure to stop by Oto's Marketplace-it truly is a gem amongst gems. PS....Parking sucks here-no way around that one unless u get lucky or have a handicap placard-don't like the parking.

There was plenty of parking in the lot, and we grabbed a cart and made our way inside to start browsing. Right in the front they have prepared foods with a bakery and ducks hanging up ready to be sliced up. We quickly browsed this area before heading into the regular grocery area. The grocery store is well stocked and has a good variety of each type of item, with different brands and flavors of items available. Not only do they have a good amount of shelf stable foods, but they also have an ample refrigerated/frozen section and fresh area. They even have tanks of fresh fish and fish on ice for purchase. We also noticed they had a nice selection of dishes and homegoods, as well as cooking equipment. The whole store is clean and organized and even with the fresh fish there isn't an overwhelming fish smell. They definitely have a broad selection of items and pull from different areas of Asia. While we didn't find everything we were specifically looking for, we did discover some new items that we'll be trying out. The staff members were very nice too, at checkout we earned some store rewards and the cashier was able to utilize some right away on some prepared food we were purchasing. I thought that was really kind of her.

We dumped them out and brought them in. 2 is better than none. As it turned out 99% of our items fit in those two bags. $56 gets you a lot of food, but not too much that we couldn't cart it out. The times that didn't fit was the aloe juice, rice crackers and box of lychee. I was so excited that I forget to take a picture of the box of lychee I picked up. It was I believe $7 for 1.8lbs. Expensive still even with the $1 discount off as it was regular $8. They had another variety for $2 something a pound, you but you had to buy a to more. I love fresh lychee but rarely buy it because it's usually out of season and so expensive. I want to report back that the lychee is very good. Sweet and the pits aren't too big. I'm glad I got the box. I wish it came in a recyclable paper box so I wouldn't feel as guilty about throwing it out. It came in a cute plastic basket with a lid and a handle. I'll have to find a use for it afterwards. Our main reason for coming in today was in search for salmon and a vegetable to cook for tomorrow's dinner. Mexico s playing to Moro a for the world cup and we're hosting a watch party. They had 3 cuts of salmon. We got two of the three. Steak and a thin filet. It's going to be so delicious. My husband marinates it for hours and it's so good. We got some Choy to along with it. And egg custards for dessert. We. Each got our own so we don't' have to share. The mini egg custard tars were $2.99 each or 2 for $4.99. We only bought 3, one for each of us. They have so many choy options. He wanted one more leafy when steamy. So we got a bag of the leafy kind. They were a good deal. There produce for the most part is reasonable. With the exception of their boxed fruit, that's expensive. Or it's just too much as they all will ripen at the same time and who can eat 24 mangos? One thing we are out of at home was cheddar cheese. We didn't even look to find out if they had it. The deli was closed when we arrived around 6pm. Sadly no bao for us. I was really hoping for some to take home and east as snacks for later. I looked at the ones in the freezer section ,but you need a steamer for those and I believe they are uncooked so I passed. I just wanted some so I could nuke them. We looked at the ones in the fridge section of the deli but, my husband vetoed them. We'll have to find somewhere else to get them. They had two kinds of Aloe juice with crunchy pulp. Regular and pineapple. The pineapple sounded so good, but. I'm cutting gout drinking stuff other than water in the hopes of getting. healthier and losing weight. No more empty calories. I really do like the crunchy pulp. It reminded me of boba and so much cheaper than a boba drink. Clearance section. I didn't see any outstanding deals. I was so disappointed as my parents always find the amazing deals on those shelves. We totally scored on parking. We got the first spot. We had to drive down to the next isle, but abt was ok, it was closer to the front door. There really is plenty of parking as they have a whole shopping center they share parking with. Carts. Unlike Raley's they have plenty of carts. There is no shortage. I love it. Without shopping carts it's difficult to do all the necessary shopping. Thank you 99 Ranch. Thought we spend more money, we still are saving money compared to other stores.

I purchased clearance food items that I later realized -- without even opening them -- were clearly not fresh and not safe to eat. This is especially serious to me because I have children, and I rely on stores to sell food that is safe for families. What makes this worse is that I was told in the store that these products were "safe" and that employees buy them themselves. When I returned to request a refund, one associate initially said it would be accepted. However, the same employee who originally reassured me suddenly refused, became visibly upset, and told me "it's the law" that they cannot take the items back. That statement is misleading -- stores cannot avoid responsibility for selling food that is not safe for consumption. On top of that, during the same visit I was overcharged for other items compared to the posted prices, which added to my frustration and concern about how this business operates. This was not just poor customer service -- it raises serious concerns about food safety and consumer rights. I strongly recommend that others carefully inspect any items before purchasing here and double-check prices at checkout.

Specifically, I found this snack called Khatta Meetha, a very popular "Indian snack mix (namkeen) known for its balance of sweet ("meetha") and tangy or sour ("khatta") flavors" according to Google. So it's like a snack mix made of chickpea flour noodles (sev), fried rice flakes (poha), green peas, and roasted peanuts. The seasoning is what makes it so good, yes, it's definitely the combo of sweet and tangy that makes it so tasty. Anyways, they've got a ton of fresh produce, ethnic ingredients and frozen foods as well as plenty of pantry foods like large bags of basmati rice, giant cans/jars of ghee, etc. I don't really cook so I won't know what to do with any of these food items, but everything looks fresh and reasonably priced. All in all, a great place to get South Asian authentic ethnic ingredients and prepared foods, and the bakery sure looks like a great place for anyone with a sweet tooth.
