I lived and shopped at Trader Joes for over 20 years in Huntington Beach Ca at least once a week. It's not only reasonable but clean and quality in everything you buy. I moved to Jacksonville NC 11 years ago and everytime I go to Cally I ask them at TJ when are you coming here? I know it's a far drive for me to Wilmington but once a month I will make the trip. We went to Trader Joe's today. They were out of 4 of our favorite products. White tea, Green Fin Wine, Fire roasted salsa and chicken enchiladas. This is ridiculous. They couldn't tell me when they would have those products. Why even go there. Go to Whole Foods. At least they fill the shelves. read more

Meh... Not sure what all the fuss is about this place. Tragically awful entrance, conducive to auto collision. Ive been to Trader Joes in several large cities and sometimes found amazing things. This Trader Joes is a vegetarian nightmare--mostly meat, dairy, more meat, fish stuff, and alcohol. Seriously...even their vegetable soup contained icky non-veggie yuck. People with allergies would die quickly eating many foods here with bizarre ingredients. No thanks. I wasnt overly thrilled with the produce, or this store in general. Grade A for staying health conscious on a student budget near UNCW. Grade F in WTF for the parking development. What is up with the only entrance off of College Rd? The bottleneck effect coming from the one way west bound entrance is terrible design that just adds to the unnecessary congestion at Oleander and College. The large plot of grass on the Oleander side should've been used for more parking or another entrance. Instead, its just a plot of grass for a giant sign and invisible cows to graze on. The confusion extends into the parking lot and store. Soon, this Trader Joe's will top Wal-mart as the #1 warzone in NC. Cars drive around aimlessly trying to find the exit or a parking spot and the aisles are crowded with confused and lost shoppers new to the TJ experience. As much as I love TJ's, I just don't think it's worth coming here on weekends. I'd like to promote a safe environment no matter how bad I want my peppermint JoJos. read more

This is a very Ehh location. Nothing special about this Trader Joe's and the parking is absolutely ridiculous.

I love Trader Joes, Don't get me wrong, its just this particular location is always out of stock of a lot of items!! almost every other week. Also they have a refrigeration problem , certain sections of the frozen isle are always melted and soft. Also they seem to have frequent recalls on items . hmmmm. read more

I'm always heading into Trader Joe's for my essentials and staples and have always loved how awesome and friendly their employees are at every location. Wilmington's TJ is definitely one of my favorites! It's about a 50 minute drive and totally worth it for me. The selection was great, things were in stock and readily available and as always AWESOME employees! As I was checking out the gentlemen helping me out was super friendly and we chatted for a bit. He was nice enough to check if they got a couple items in for me and even grabbed someone to get a new salad for me since one of the ones I chose possibly was open and he didn't want to take any chances. Had a giant smile and it's nice to see great customer service while your out and to see people who genuinely seem to enjoy where they work. read more

Love TJ's but this is the absolute worst location in Wilmington! The entrance and exit to parking is a joke! WTF!!! Who's idea was this? Someone must have had a lot of clout to get this TJ'S in this location! I think I'll continue to visit TJ'S in other cities but not this one! Ugh! Despite the widespread media, including Yelp reviews, that parking/location is disastrous for our new TJ's spot I decided that since a couple months have passed since opening day I would try it on a Saturday morning. The parking lot is definitely claustrophobic with tight turns and skinny aisles. However, on a Saturday morning which I would expect to be one of the busier times it was easy to find a vacant spot and I zipped right in and out from a parking perspective. Inside the store the aisles were nice and wide which was extremely helpful considering how many people were slowly wandering as opposed to purposefully shopping and then moving on to the next item. The prices were astonishingly low which was a pleasant surprise (this was my first visit to a TJ). Everything I bought has been excellent and I will definitely be a return shopper. read more

It was raining one day and there were carts kind of piled up on the walkway in front of the store. I took them and stacked them neatly and put them back where they belong so the other shoppers could use them. A few minutes later inside the store a young man employee came up to me and handed me a bouquet of flowers and said they were for me for doing that. It was so sweet! Every time I have shopped at Trader Joe's the employees have been SO nice, SO helpful and I always feel like they are happy to have me there. It's always a great shopping experience. read more

Not a big store but it has nice products. We love their seasonal fruits. So fresh, juicy and sweet. Hate the location because it's hard getting in and out unless you take the back road. Traffic at that intersection is horrible. They should've rethought that location. read more

I bought a bag of organic baby spinach with a 'best by' date of 6/16/13 on it. I opened it on 6/14/13 to find it already had wilt and slime in the bag. I was excited to find bags of small organic apples and pears at TJ's but the apples often were brown at the core and the pears not so great either. I received a bouquet of flowers for mother's day which was the sorriest bunch of flowers I have had. Come on Trader Joe's you can do better in the fresh department. We are thrilled to have you here and love so many of your products, yogurt, milk, cheese and wine choices are wonderful. We love your snack mixes, nuts, cookies and chocolate. A policy of NOT selling HELIUM BALLOONS gives Trader Joe's an A+ in my book. Runaway helium balloons end up in the ocean, killing untold numbers of turtles, sea birds, and other marine life (you can look it up). Most of the big chains know about this, but keep on selling them. Environmentally responsible food stores like T-Joe's deserve our loyalty. read more

On a visit to the area I visited this Trader Joe's. The staff was overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. I wasn't shopping for anything in particular but came out of the store with several goodies. A new Trader Joe's is opening in our neighborhood and I'm looking forward to shopping there based on this experience. read more

Wow, Theo M's review on 2/3/15 is all wrong! The employees are not "dirty, unkempt", and that they "don't leave you alone to shop" as he said. He also said that it must be employees and their friends that leave the good reviews, not so!!! I go into the Wilmington store about 3 times a month and have since they opened. I first went to TJ in California back in the 70's and whenever I was close to one I would stop in for nuts, wines, breads, etc.. I do not work for Trader Joe's nor do I know anyone that does work there. I am very glad they opened one here. It is nice to have employees that are there to help if you need it and to suggest items you might not be aware of. As another reviewer said the "$2 buck Chuck" is great! Best wine around and for only $2.99, my husband will even drink it. If you are looking for a nice place to shop, this is it. They do not carry many national brands as most of their items are packaged and made for them. If you are looking for orchids and flowers they have them too and the prices are great! Try them out, I think you will like them. Oh, and yes, getting into the parking lot can be a challenge but once you've found your way in using the back entrance then that problem is solved.. read more
