Great store, wide isles and well stocked, no loud speakers or music

The parking lot is atrocious. Every time I visit I get dinged. Tonight especially. The dude got out and said I did a bad parking job,when he blatantly hit my car really hard! And didn't apologize for being shitty! Terrible parking! I'm taking my business to Harris teeter.its not worth the regular car dings for the shitty customer service and poor grocery bag bagging. Nice clean store, always interesting as to what you may find when you visit a Trader Joes, they have alot of unique items, alot of natural & organic type items also. These Coconut Cashews were a treasure that was uncovered during a visit to the Wilmington store, these things are crazy good, very addictive. I also love many of the natural & organic breakfast creals you find at Joes that are not made with artificial colors, high fructose corn syrup & all the other chemicals you find in the regular supermarket cereals & they are not outrageously priced. read more

Trader Joe's is one of my favorite places to grocery shop in Wilmington. I'm a college student, so I like to save money but I also want to eat healthy. Trader Joe's has great prices on produce which helps me to save $5 or so on my grocery bill when I go there. The workers at Trader Joe's are always very pleasant and helpful. I always have positive experiences when I go. If you've never been to a TJ's, you should know that some things are priced very well while other things can be a bit expensive. The only downside to Trader Joe's is that the store is fairly small and it's usually crowded when I go there. Other than that, absolutely love love love! read more

I enjoy this store. Content-wise, it's a Trader Joe's, with its usual spread of unique and interesting products at great prices, which anyone who's been to one of these stores will be familiar with. This particular one, however, always strikes me as warm, welcoming, and, well ... just "good," in a vague-yet-distinct way that I can't quite describe. There's "good energy," or "good mojo," in this store, is about the best I can say. Whatever the case, I like "it," and have noticed it with repeated visits. Trader Joe's has many unique and tasty foods for sale and for that reason I'll continue shopping here once in a while. My big beef is with the check out procedure. I've been here many times and almost every time the check out clerks are too chatty There is nothing wrong with being friendly, I think it's a good thing but here are some of the things that I've encountered when I've checked out at this store. One time, the check out person found out the customer was having a birthday, so she not only chatted about it an overly long time, she left her line of 4 other customers to go get the birthday girl some complimentary flowers. Another time, the check out clerk started talking to the customer about a moisturizer she was buying. They had a really long conversation about how good the moisturizer is, how inexpensive, how good. Etc... Another time, the clerk asked me what I was doing with the rest of day. Way too personal. How about check me out quickly, be friendly and say have a nice day. No extreme chit chat. read more

Just had the nicest experience with Ann at the register. She asked how we were and was super friendly, we told her my family dropped off my youngest brother at college this morning and she gave my mom a bouquet of flowers on the house! I love this store, mainly because their produce is fresh and they have .19 cent bananas. You can't beat that! They have a variety of things in their store: fresh flowers, local bread, and local wine. Plus, they have everyday samples that you can try to entice you to buy a product from them. I wish that Trader Joe's would expand to Chattanooga, TN. That'd be great. read more

I moved here from Charlotte, where we had three Trader Joe's grocery stores and am happy that we have one here in Wilmington. Trader Joe's historically is known for bad parking. In Charlotte, we had to park in a nightmarish parking deck to visit the TJ's closest to me, and the TJ's here is on the corner of the busiest intersection in Wilmington. There are so many things that I love about TJ's. Their chocolate, the tapas peppers, the good prices on cheese and nuts......I could go on and on. One thing baffles me.......they have a wine section, but little to no opportunities to try before you buy. In Charlotte, my TJ's had a wine AND cheese tasting nearly every time that I went. And not just one wine, but three! I always purchased a bottle after tasting. Here at our Wilmington location, this does not exist. They will occasionally have one bottle open where they are doing the food demo, but not often. I asked an employee when they will have wine tastings. She said, "they do it for the employees, but they won't do it for customers." That seems strange since customers are their source of revenue. So, I buy my wine mostly at Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, and Lowes. Hey, you can even buy a glass to sip while you shop at Lowes. Other than the wine thing, this Trader Joe's rocks! read more

The atmosphere is great and mostly everybody working is friendly but be aware of this one cashier who simply is beyond rude. She was helping us checkout and we asked her to not bag the wines. However, she nearly slammed the bottle as she was furious for no apparent reason I mean why the attitude and is it not the job of the employee to treat the customer with respect. As without the customer there is no job for any of them nor the store I do not wish to mention her name but rude behavior and bad service is not cool. Unique & unusual gourmet offerings catering to gourmands & foodies. Loved exploring and finding some different types of crackers, cheeses & dessert items which we never saw anywhere else. read more

Trader Joe's is located at College Street in a newly constructed building that is fresh and clean. My visit to this place was during the opening weekend on 12/2/2012. The parking situation was absolutely ridiculous and took about 10 minutes before we could even get parked and begin to enter the building. One inside we were offered a cart and proceeded into the store. Everything was fresh, clean and new but shouldnt it be? It's new!! I picked up a few things and proceeded to check out. This is where I was impressed. No line or waiting to get checked out. Not sure how long that will last as today they had everyone staffed. For those of you that are unsure of Trader Joe's; they offer things that are organic and better for you from sustainable companies. They have GREAT products and seem to actually care about the customer. The best way for me to describe this place is maybe a cheaper Whole Foods kind of store. Enjoy! read more

This is a "real" review of this place, not the constant glowing reviews posted by employees and friends of such. THIS STORE SUCKS!! DO NOT GO HERE!! Several months after it opened, I went to see what all the fuss was about. I didn't get it. The dirty, unkempt employees never leave you alone to shop and are constantly asking what you are looking for. Go away and let me shop! Here's one encounter of many during my only and nevermore visit to this cult grocery. "OH, Are you looking at our wine collection, it's the best in the world and we have the best cheese ever to go with those wines. What wine are you looking for, cuz it's the best and we have some great crackers and chips to go with that wine and cheese and do you like hummus, cuz ours is the best! The best! Can I show where those are?!" The staff never leaves you alone. Ever! Walking around that store is akin to being on a free time-share weekend in Myrtle Beach. No peace. No time for personal thought. They are like a Cult of Groceries, and mediocre ones at that. Look, they can order their minions to bomb this board with glowing reviews with veiled advertisements for their products, but clear-headed people like me see through this idiocy instantly. I'm not sure what's wrong with these people, but I haven't been in their presence since. (I was particularly disconcerted by the "greeter" during the fake "hiring fair" they had. He aggressively propositioned every woman who came through the door to apply for a job. And as he danced around, physically danced around in front of these poor women and telling them how "cool" and "awesome" he was, I could see the discomfort in the women's faces, some actually walked out.. He was the Creepiest Piece Of Crap I've seen in a while. Trader Joes. Creeps and annoying people at your service.) I wish Yelp allowed Zero Stars. It's Tuesday afternoon. I was looking forward to shopping at Trader Joe's. First, I sat in a very long traffic line heading east on Oleander. What was more annoying was the parking lot - a complete zoo. There's gonna be a fist fight one of these days. What I thought would be a fun shopping experience turned into a finger-pointing, pissed off driver trying to park (me!) You really must expand the parking or stay open 24/7. I've just moved in down the street from Trader Joes and if my wallet hasn't taken a beating for it. The prices are great so its easy to end up spending more than you meant to but I always leave feeling like a champ for getting the most (and freshest) food for my money. I make one big trip per week but find myself popping in for a pre-made salad or spontaneous sweet treat more than I'd like to admit. The customer service at TJ's speaks volumes for itself. I've many times considered submitting an application to work there because their employees are always so friendly and helpful I cant help but imagine the environment there being really positive and fun. They'll even open any product in the store and let you try it for free. AND there's a money-back guarantee if you but something and don't like it. Amazing! read more

After 2 trips, probably will not be going back. First off, the staff is phenomenal.. super helpful, friendly and always smiling! However, I was trying to save $ this week so decided to go here to grab a bunch of fruits and veggies for juicing. And I just dont understand why EVERYTHING here is packaged... kale, spinach, apples, lemons, limes and even asparagus! Really hard for me to determine the freshness. Well I bought all my stuff here anyway and nothing wad fresh. Spinach and stawberries were rotten, and I attempted to use them the very next morning. I was told that trader joes re-packages their food after the expiration date and I do believe this may be true after what I saw. Super dissapointed in their freshness... next time, Ill buy at Port City Produce or whole foods where I know my $$ will be well spent. read more

Every single time I come in here it's clean, cool, and well lit. The employees are super helpful and are able to give suggestions for items they are out of or just because they see you pick up an item. Today I wanted to get some red roses and found one bunch 20 for $9.99. One rose was broken, but for the great price I was just going to buy them, but and the store manager Brandon (who is always AWESOME...seriously) gave me an unexpected discount. Oh and they have the best frozen Mac and cheese in the world. It's won awards. read more

First time in Trader Joe's and I was in love! It's a smaller grocery store, but that doesn't mean it lacks for options. We drove in from Jacksonville specifically because of their vegan options. We went a little crazy in there with all our finds, but the price was more than reasonable. The staff is super friendly and easy going, but helpful. A relaxed atmosphere that I appreciated. The only pitfall was the chocolate bar that I really wanted wouldn't come in until the next day. But I can't complain about that. I really wish we had a Trader Joe's in our town, but I'll be back to this one! read more

Okay, admittedly, it's tough to get in and out of, but you really can't beat the prices, especially compared to other grocery stores boasting "healthy options." On a regular day, I just can't afford Whole Foods or Tidal Creek (which I found stuffy the one time I visited), and really, I just don't want to spend my extra money there when I could go here. Their selection isn't as large, but for cheap beer, wine, produce, organic grains, organic frozen foods and eco-friendly toiletries, you can't beat it. read more

The parking is horrendous, but this is really my favorite grocery store in town. I've NEVER seen such friendly employees and they are incredibly helpful without being pushy. The prices are great and the layout of the store itself is easy to navigate. They are usually less busy a few hours before close, so if you're looking to avoid the crowds I'd suggest going around 6 or 7 in the evening. read more
