My experience with General Rv of Birch Run has been horrendous. I have experienced many issues since providing a $2500 deposit on a unit. I was promised a product that would be fixed to use. Then I was told the work could not be completed. I addressed this matter and was met with aggressive and unprofessional behavior. I since then have been told I will receive my refund. Which then I had been told after that, I will not be receiving my refund. Do NOT go to General Rv unless you would like to be scammed. Unfortunately, If you dig deeper into this company's behavior and standards, these discussed problems are more common than not. read more

My husband and I purchased a new motorcoach from General RV in Birch Run, MI on 03/17/2026. We did most of the paperwork at an earlier visit and had an appointment to pick up the coach at 1:30 on 3/17/26. We arrived at 1:00 in the afternoon (taking time off work) and did not leave until 4:45 p.m. They had nothing ready other than some useless VIP tags to go around our necks. Dillon Church took us through the unit showing us how to turn on the TVs with a remote and light switches. He was basically reading from a script. If you had a question, he had no answer or made up one. Anytime my husband asked about the generator, batteries, anything important, Dillion didn't know or steered us away to something else as if to distract us from an issue. My husband asked about a windshield wiper that didn't look right, Dillon told him that was how they all look. Inside the coach looked like a homeless person had been living in it. There was a 1/4 inch thick layer of dust like you would see in a wood shop on all of the doors and surfaces. Nothing had been wiped down or cleaned. The comforter was on the bed and a footprint was on it like someone was standing on the bed with dirty boots. The part that draped on the floor was black with dirt where it has been stepped on. I will have to have the couch, driver and passenger seats professionally cleaned. I brought all of this to Dillon's attention, and he apologized and said he'd have to get the cleaning people back in there. Back in there, there was no way any cleaning person was ever in there. Or any manager or anyone else that cares at all about customer service could have been in there and thought that this was clean or at all okay to even show someone. The best part is we live over an hour away from GRV and when my husband was almost home it started snowing and he turned on the windshield wipers and the one that looked weird, that he asked Dillon about didn't work. Then this morning when my husband went to our pole barn he noticed some liquid under the coach and it now has an engine antifreeze leak. Our salesman Don told us this whole speech about why we should purchase form GRV, family owned, no debt, when we leave they want us to feel like family, they do a whole 76 point check on the unit to make sure it's good to go (which I believe costs around $3,000 for the "prep"). And it's hours of attention to detail that they spend checking it over. So you're telling me in this intensive check no one noticed the layers of dirt and grime inside, the windshield wiper that doesn't work or the antifreeze leak? Some 76 point check. What exactly are they checking for?? And why did I pay $3,000 for it?? This should have been an exciting day as we purchased a brand new motorcoach that we were excited about at first. It ended up being a complete disappointment. read more

My parents purchased a used motorhome 3 weeks ago. After turning over their trade in, and signing all of the paperwork, they were given a constant run around. YESTERDAY was pick up day. They said everything was done and it was ready for the final walk through and good to go. I took my dad up there as my mom was working (for his NOON appointment, 45 minutes from home). We were ushered to a waiting area and told someone from service would be out shortly to take us for the final walk through. About an hour later when we went and hunted someone down, we were told the batteries were dead, and they only had enough to replace 4 of the 6, so the motorhome would have to be brought back next week for the other two.... *fine... things happen*...we were told it would take them about an hour. After an hour, I needed to leave to get my son, and was concerned about leaving my dad there without 100% confidence he was getting his motorhome..... I ended up having to call someone else to get my son for me. Then we were about half hour left to wait (we thought), we went to get lunch. When we returned, we were told it was in progress, but it was generally about 3 hours worth of service..... At hour FOUR, we were told the batteries were in, but there was an issue with the battery wiring, and "we have all of our best guys working on it". At this point, I got mouthy. My dad demanded to get into the service area to see the motorhome, as we hadn't been offered that all day. They took us back, and within a minute, they said it was fixed. Then, after the "walk through" (the young man who gave us the walk through was very nice, but didnt seem to know much of anything about the rig) my dad pointed out that their new mattress that they were told had been put in, hadn't. They then had to run around trying to find it. They finally found it. We were then told we could wait out front for them to drive it out front. We did. After at least 10 minutes, my dad went back to them to see what was taking them so long. He was told "we're at the mercy of the drivers". We were the only customers there at that point (4:30 pm). After some words, he finally got on his walkie and got a driver down to pull the rig out. The whole experience was exhausting. It seemed everyone working there was upstairs, it was a ghost town the whole time. No one seemed to be in a hurry to do ANYTHING. After finally getting it home and looking through everything, the cabinets are missing shelves, and the appliances are filthy. The outside of the coach is filthy (clearly not "coated"). We have several other friends and family that have had horrible experiences there as well. Once the money is paid, they dont seem to be in any hurry, or treat you like a paying customer anymore. Extremely poor business practice. They quoted 1 hour for next week to replace the other two batteries and put the correct mattress in. I sure hope its a better experience. ​​ read more

Noticed a little water coming from under our kitchen area. As my wife and I are full timers, General RV got us in immediately and got to work at 10am on a Friday. Tina and Matthew did a great job keeping informed and the lead technician, Tom did a superb job tracing the water to our water heater. Luckily, they had a water heater and all the required installation hardware on hand! They work like the devil, past their closing time of 6 PM and got us out the door at approximately 6:30 PM. Though I called out three names in this review, the entire staff from the receptionist to the cashier, made us feel like valued customers. I took my 5th wheel in for some warranty work. Steve Schindler, service advisor was so helpful in making sure the list of work to be performed was complete. I was kept up on the progress of the mechanic who was also helpful in answering the few questions I had. I wish I could remember his name but can't. They may help you find one but General RV will not help you repair one. WE have been lied to so much by Kathy in service it is an awful reflection of Generals respect for their customers. I have been waiting for a call back from them for almost 4 weeks. Cathy in service required we bring into the store our 5th wheel to get pictures to order an Air Conditioner and said she would call back Monday at end of business. Never heard from her again and good luck calling you have to go thru a phone switch board which is located in another state and wait for them to call them back. read more

My wife and I went in to shop for our first camper. We were shown several units and one caught our eye. We asked for a quote. We were given the quote, but we needed to do more research on the weight limits for our vehicle. We were told by the manager that we HAD to make a $500 deposit to keep the quoted price. Apprehensive about the situation, we asked what would happen to the "non-refundable" deposit if we found we couldn't tow the camper and needed to look at some thing else. We were told the deposit could be applied to another unit. We asked, if we could not find a camper at General RV, could we get a store credit. We were told by the manager, with very little surety, "yeah, you know, we'll figure it out..." We ended up finding an acceptable unit elsewhere and asked General RV if we could apply the deposit to a new back-up camera and I would pay the balance. They said no, and told us we forfeit the deposit unless we buy a new unit within 12 months. This is totally unacceptable and absolutely no way to do business. Sell me a product, don't use underhanded sales tactics to rob me. Beware of shopping with General RV, they will pressure you into a $500 non-refundable deposit for something you are unsure about. Neither Camping World or Tradewinds did anything like this at any point to save your quote. So disgusted. read more

On 09/24/22 we purchased our 2023 Winnebago Travato model 59K. We attended a Birch Run Camper Expo in 2022. Ben Sexton was our salesman who walked up with his friendly smile :). I remember him saying all he likes to do is make his customers happy. :) We liked a Travato there but wanted it in silver. He searched everywhere and found us one. It was delivered to Birch Run from Wixom General RV. He truly stops at nothing to try his best to satisfy each customer. After purchasing our Winnebago we headed up north and got engaged on Sept 30, 2023. We had our first camping experience in our Travato. We noticed the microwave that we never used had few scratch markings on front door. Contacted Ben Sexton and him and his manager Bryan Slaughter took care of us.Ben reacted quickly and because of his determination is voted our #1 Salesman to refer to others. We are getting married on Sept 2, 2023 and driving our camper on our honeymoon to Yellowstone National Park. God Bless Ben for his help! They in our opinion r the worst company we have ever worked with. We r in our late 70s. They pushed so bad until we were worn out. Finally said sign here. It said nonrefundable we said that they had told us it was refundable. The finance manager said just sign here we will work it out. Now I guess we've lost $10,000. After the pushy sale, there is no service or even a call back. If you can afford $165 per hour per service item for poor service, you have come the right place. Place a call to talk to the service manager at 9:44 AM, is now 1:47 PM no call. This normal for this store. Terrible all around! Sales and service is horrible, run away! Read my whole review to find a much better place to deal with. I've been trying to get my RV repaired under warranty for almost 12 months, numerous trips, $$$ in fuel driving there and days off of work. After 6 times of working on the same thing they still can't fix it. Their techs must be completely inept. And to the technicians that work at General RV I hope you're reading this, you are completely inept. You should be ashamed, go get a broom a sweep the floor instead. I have finally given up. I will just drive it to Indiana and have the manufacturer do the repair. Suggest you do the same if you have to deal with General RV. Spoke with Scott at Coachman, who told me they had already been paid for the repair, I let Coachman know that they never completed the repair. As far as the sales side of it, they use shady tactics trying to sell you a motorhome. I caught onto this and then just decided to play games with them over the next few months looking at many motorhomes just so I could go buy it somewhere else. Which is exactly what I did. I flew myself down to Texas to Motorhome Specialist outside of Dallas and saved myself $20,000 over what I would've paid with General RV. My parents purchased a brand new 2019 5th wheel RV from this location. They were initially very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness which is why they purchased here and not the location significantly closer to where we live. After multiple calls and emails confirming details they drove the 2+ hours to get their RV. Nothing was ready for them. The coating was not applied, the paperwork not complete with the exception of the title transfer so they couldn't back out of the deal, and several other items. When they indicated their displeasure and attempted to negotiate some concessions they were told that if they tried to back out and get a refund they would be sued for breach of contract. Go somewhere else and if you can't never sign anything until you are able to take delivery of a fully intact unit. Update: They are now charging my parents storage fees even though General RV still has not fulfilled their part of the contract and applied the coating or fixed the electrical issue. read more

My wife and I drove one hour down from Midland. MI to the RV prison showroom known as General RV in Birch Run. If you like being treated like a fool, you can't get into the outdoor RV area to simply look at the units without a salesperson. The only option to get in is be forced to give the "prison" receptionist your name and telephone number, obviously so they can call you endlessly or sell your info to telemarketers for even more robocalls and now text advertising. I resent these type of intrusive personal privacy sales models and boycott these businesses simply because they treat potential customers like idiots. Had an opportunity to deal with a salesperson today to get a price on a new RV. Her name was Alyssa. What a rude, obtrusive person! She kept talking over me and telling me how much she wanted to help me. In reality, all she did was tack on dealer prep and freight charges to her quote. When I told her other dealers didn't add those charges, she ignored me. Not sure how Alyssa is allowed to treat customers so bad. I would NEVER buy an RV from her. read more

We were traveling from California on our way to Washington DC. Water heater went out in our new coach purchased in CA back in March. Found General RV was the Winnebago authorized warranty repair dealer in the area. Stopped in to have water heater checked. They had the parts, and MADE THE TIME to get us back on the road within about an hour and half! THEY WERE SLAMMED, but still made the extraordinary effort to get us back on the road. Saved me from two weeks of cold showers. They also found the source of a leak into one of our storage compartments, and sealed that up too! These guys are great. HORRIBLE SERVICE CENTER: RV Repair needed: Replace slide out flooring and topper, realign slide out. Replace AC control board : Monday, June 29: Showed up at General RV, Birch Run for repairs. Appointment made for 9AM, Thursday, July 2. Thursday, July 2: Showed up for appointment. Waited about 1/2 hour, service informed me that even though I had appointment, they had several people quit and would not be able to take in my RV today. I explained my husband was out of town, I had driven by myself, can they give me ride home and keep my RV to repair? Exception was made, and I was given ride home. I ADVISE HOLD REPAIR FOR INSURANCE REVIEW: Friday, July 10: Insurance requests pictures of damage be sent to them for review Thursday, July 16: Service department sent pictures to insurance Tuesday, July 18: Advised service that insurance will not cover, to please continue with repairs, I am charged for parts. Thursday, August 6: TEXT from service: "......your floor will be here on 8-12-2020." Wednesday, August 12: TEXT from me: "yay, the parts are out for delivery" TEXT from service: ".....I'll communicate with my shipping and receiving department to get them checked in right away." Thursday, August 13: TEXT from service: (Service realized that two purchase orders had been done but only 1 shipped) "...I'm looking for an ETA right now and I'll call you back with that information." NO RESPONSE Monday, August 17: TEXT from me: ".....has the other part been shipped?" Thursday, August 20: TEXT from service: ".....Everything is here. I just put the work order in the shop. I'm still working on the AC control board." Friday, August 21: TEXT from service: ".....we have your AC control board in stock apparently." (I pay for board) Tuesday, August 25: TEXT from service: "We are working on your unit right now. I don't have a solid pick date yet, but I should have an idea by the end of the day." NO RESPONSE Monday, August 31: TEXT from service: "We are still working your slideroom floor. We are making headway, but I don't (h)ave a solid ETA yet." Thursday, September 3: TEXT from me: "Will it be done this week"? TEXT from service: "It will not be. I was just told that we ordered the wrong size slide topper." Thursday, September 17: TEXT from service: "I have a ship date of 9-20 from Thor. On that date I should have tracking to verify that this part has left and is in transit to us." Monday, September 28: Received call from General RV service after sending e-mail to management on September 27. They said I could come get RV and use even though correct topper not received yet. Friday, October 2: Went to pick up RV and slide out is going out crooked, same issue that we had brought in for repair to begin with. Left without RV. Monday, October 5: TEXT from service: "we have been a little backed up and should be pulling your coach back in the bay tomorrow to get it looked at. And our system has been down. So waiting on an updated eta for the topper." I rent out the RV and had to cancel 4 bookings from July 16th to August 28th for a loss of $4008.00. Not to mention, could have also rented out in September. So far the cost of parts, labor, fedex charges, shop costs, etc. is over $5000.00. read more

Had 8 warranty issues and 1 large customer pay request that I went over with the service writer in the beginning of May of this year. I get a text saying that my special order part is in. I call that day and ask if I will get a text for each of the parts ordered and they say yes. I get two more texts over the next couple of weeks. In my mind I think I should get about 5-6 texts and the other issues will be repairs. I get nothing for a month. I call in and speak with some one, not the original advisor, and he has a hard time looking me up and says he will call me back. No call back. After a few more weeks I call in and get a pretty helpful rep that has a hard time looking up my parts and issues. She tells me to forward the email summary that I had originally sent the night I was originally there back to the original advisor. I get a phone call in a couple of days from her and she states that I am now out of warranty and that might get be an issue. I recap all of the above and she states that she will call me back the next day. No return call again. I follow up AGAIN with another email on the same email thread as I am now realizing that I need to document my conversations. NO RESPONSE AGAIN. My wife calls and gets to the service manager who said he would call me to bring the camper back in, again to go over our issues. Did I get a call....NO. General RV is inept from the top down. Do not even look at something there, it will never get serviced under warranty or customer pay. read more

The people are fantastic at Birch Run. Miki was excellent, accurate, considerate. I would hire her, without question. The Regimented atmosphere, not so much. In the end, it was a good experience. Just too much like a shady used car dealer in terms of rules and practices. Would I buy here again, yes, mostly because of the salesperson and selection. The rest of the experience, I'd go down the street. Maybe, I should have made it three stars? After the sale: I am still waiting on a return call from service estimator, but its only been a week or so.. I wanted to get a quote on an add on.. guess I will go elsewhere for that. read more

Once they get your money, and you drive off that lot, you become less than zero to them! Do yourself a favor go to local small dealerships! General RV will tell you that they have the best service department but they lie. They will not help you at all. We bought a motorhome from them and have problems with the slide on it not working right. When we took it in they said it just jumped time, and reset it. We are still having the same issue. Called them to see if we could talk to some one so we could get it back in and their customer service said there was no one there on a holiday weekend to help us. Wouldn't that be a important time to have someone in the service department. I will never buy from these people again . oh and for anyone out there when you buy a camper from these people no matter what they say you have 90 days from the day you sign the papers to get any repairs done on it even if you buy during their winter show and don't use. The only good I can say is Coachman is a wonderful company and they will work with you despithe what general RV says. read more

Buying an RV from this location has been a terrible experience. There is no communication among the representatives of General RV Birch Run, poor upper management, and our salesperson, Casey, had no follow through. There was obviously no inspection done, leading to a 5 hour detour within 100 miles of the lot to fix issues that another dealership told us should have never happened. The service department is the worst. I was told they would scrap the old caulk and reseal, the second time I called and spoke with manager a week ago. They said they would get back with me. At the same time they said air conditioner needed a replacement. Still no call back or answer. I was working with Kyle to buy a used camper. I made an offer and they counted. But when he told me that the trailer was already working a deal in wixom and they just didn't think the financing would go through and wanted me to be a backup purchaser. That's like trying to sell one trailer to two people it's unethical and if this is how this organization is going to run it's just a crooked in my opinion organization. I would not deal with general RV. if you cannot be honest and upfront in your business dealings and you get a scam somebody it shows you are a very low class business. read more

Birch Run is terrible service with poor level of customer concern. Called for warranty service. Earliest appointment was in 5 weeks. Ended up taking trailer in 3 times. They never did fix it, so, I had to fix it myself. read more

Stay away if you want your RV repaired. I had 2 different rv's there for 2 repairs each over the course of 12 months. The first had neither repaired. One because they wouldn't honor the warranty and one because they didn't know how to fix the awning per the manufactures recommendation and didn't have a good idea in mind. I went elsewhere for both. I made an appt for my new motor home this April. After waiting 3 weeks to bring it in they lost my appt. After waiting an hour they allowed me to drop it off. Over the next week they said they repaired my leaking black water plumbing but didn't know how to fix my AC and I had to pick up my RV by the end of the week because they did everything they could. I called the manufacturer myself and asked them to intervene. After a week of phone tag between the manufacturer and General they finally fixed the issue. The next week camping my rv poured black water from the fixed plumbing leak, now worse than before. No repair was ever made. I decided to fix it myself. $10 in parts at Lowes. I'm done with these guys. read more

In the beginning everything was great! Promised everything under the sun. But when it came to the actual event we didn't get what was promised at all! A neighborhood pointed out to us that our camper siding was depaneling on our bunk room slide out. I pointed this out to Our sales person she said she didn't know what that was. This not the only challenge we have had since purchasing this product from her. The awning arm was weak and broke on or first trip out. Even when Brian responded to her email congratulating us on the purchase and He informed her of our challenge. we heard nothing back. Needless to say we are very unhappy with our experience. They are Good actors and pretend that they truly care for your needs but we know the real truth now. read more

We bought our new crusader 1 year ago. the sales staff was great till after you purchase . Then they forget who you are. The first time camping,I had so many things wrong with our camper, it was like they never even checked it out before delivering it to us. Neither sink drain were attached. I ended up fixing that. The slideout was hitting the island and rubbing on it. The refrigerator wouldn't work on gas, food got warm in the traveling to camp. Took it in 3 weeks later because they couldn't get in till then. They did fix most of the stuff ,however their idea of fixing the slideout was to pant the wood where it was rubbing. Now I have black paint on both the slideout and the island. The second time camping. The refrigerator would not work on electric power. I even unhooked the refrigerator from the camper and plugged it in to my house. It still wouldn't work. it would work fine on gas. Went camping again , and this time the AC ran fine one day and then would run 2 minutes and shut off for 30 sec. run 2 minutes and shut off. It would cycled like that for about 20 minutes. I just shut it off and opened windows. Then the with the black tank empty, The indicator lights would indicate 1/3 full. Tried to back flush using the flush line, and it would pressurize but not go into the tank. The surround sound wouldn't work with the TV or CD player. Had the refrigerator started a rattleing noise. Took it in ,they had it if for 4 days before working on it. Their tech stated the A/C worked fine ( he only ran it for an hour ). No Problem found with the surround sound. needed to put a washer in the flush hose connector. Stated there was no plugged line. I was furious with this idiot. I showed him the line was plugged, so he replaced the check valve, under protest. And guess what, it was no longer plugged. As far as the black tank indicator, he just blew it off. We picked up the camper and went camping. The next day the A/C would not work. AS far as General RV is concerned Buy their stuff but don't try and get it repaired.
