Went to get pizza on the 4th of July. I noticed there was a dog left in a car around 2 PM. I went inside to order takeout but immediately spoke with the girl at the counter with black hair about the dog, who had clearly been out in the hot car for some time. It was easily 120 degrees in that car. The owner overheard us and stepped up to me, asking if I had broken the window of his car--which, in New Mexico, is legal in order to rescue an animal in danger, but i did not. This heartless individual was apparently on his way out and didn't even know about the law nor did he care, he said outside, its just a dog. The girl at the counter then got mad at me for trying to save the dog and causing a scene about what was clearly a savage disregard for life. She said, "He's on his way out--you can leave now too." So I was kicked out of their business before I could even place an order with my family sitting in the car, simply for trying to protect a dog that Trail Rider Pizza showed no concern for. I later called the manager to explain the situation. I was angry about how the staff, especially the girl with black hair, showed no concern for the dog or for the way I was treated. The manager was condescending on the phone and clearly didn't care about the situation either. I would not support this company. They are a heartless bunch--especially the girl with black hair at the counter. all i wanted to do was order a pizza for my family, instead i was kicked out for trying to saving a dog in a hot car. read more

This place was fantastic. Family of 5 coming off the trails straight here for some pizza. We were greeted with smiles, sat quick, got beer quick (& cold), and ordered quick. While waiting we listened to great music and played games off of the game shelf. Our youngest was a little loud and we received 0 bad looks. Ok if you haven't checked out Trail Riders Pizza you need to! You are missing out, especially my vegetarian and vegan peeps this is the place for you. So many pizza choices and vegetarian and vegan options. They have the impossible burger, vegan cheese stake sandwich, so many others including the Vegan Meatball sub which is what I got. I have never had a vegan meatball sub before, or a real meat meatball sub, vegetarian from birth.. so take my word as you will but this was the best first vegan meatball sub that I have ever had!! Even my husband who is a meat eater said it was good if that helps lol they also make the bread in house and I must say it was delicious. The fries were really good and quite a generous serving size. The hubby agreed they were good as well. Hubby got a cheese pizza with vegan pepperoni he wasn't overly thrilled with the vegan pepperoni but he got it for me. Lol I thought it was good and the crust is delicious. He also really enjoyed the rest of the pizza crust said it could have more cheese but that was his only comment. We also got dessert to take home. A pecan cinnamon roll and the Platinum bar. I love anything peanut butter and chocolate so of course I had to get the platinum bar. It was delicious, just the right amount of chocolate to peanut better and crispy cereal!! The pecan cinnamon role was also really good too and had great flavor. The food is good, the kitchen and front house staff are wonderful people and that's who deserves the five-star rating, but main manager or "head chef" and owner could use some continued education in running a business. When you conduct interviews and make promises to your potential employees you need to follow through with those promises. Not doing so is called fraudulent inducement, technically a breach of contract. You cannot promise a consistent schedule or promise to ask the employee before changing it and then turn around and change it without notice. You cannot promise to pay a good hourly pay, then proceed to pay up to $8 dollars less than businesses around you. It's extremely unprofessional to send hostile text messages to your employees when they take the better opportunities that come their way when you as a business owner cannot uphold your promises. You cannot expect your employees to continue to trust you when you lie so boldly across social media that you pay them so well, they do not need a second job when in fact several of them absolutely need a secondary income. You cannot expect your employees to trust you to make good decisions for their safety when you expect them to work while a toxic chemical is being used in the building next door. Causing several employees and customers to be sick. The people doing the job were wearing respirators, that should have given you the clue that the restaurant was not safe to be open that day. You cannot expect your employees to come to you with an issue when you yourself, and your "head Chef" are barely around and make it feel unsafe from retaliation or demining remarks to the remainder of the staff about them. If this report brings around more retaliation, another report will be made. If you cannot afford to pay your employees a deserved pay, you shouldn't be expanding or buying a new building. Do better and you will see better results, and a much lower turn-over rate. Just to put it out there, I'm not an employee either. Just someone who knows how things have been going and have sources. Also, someone should help the head chef make themselves look more presentable on social media on the restaurant's page. Every time I have come across their posts he looks like he just rolled out of bed, uncombed hair and generally unclean look. You don't have to like my review as an owner, but it should help you realize that people notice more than just the food and the staff you have in house. The reason this is posted anonymously is because there has been a noticeable pattern of retaliation when things have been said that aren't to the liking of the owner. Yes, those patterns have been documented. Go for the food, and the amazing staff in the front and back of the house. THEY are worth the trip I promise you. read more

To the owner- For starters, simply saying "not excuses" does not, in fact, make them not excuses. And "not excuses, just life" is a PERFECT representation of the very attitude that your front end staff have that is such a turn-off! Try using that phrase on the next good customer who your staff upset so badly that they never want to spend money in your restaurant again, or use it on the health inspector the next time they show up and see how that works out for you... Your staff are RUDE and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RESPECT MY ALLERGY. AT. ALL. Your response indicates that you know what you have TOLD them to do, but your staff apparently only recognize certain allergies, and when a customer explains that an allergy (which is not one of the usual suspects) that they have is serious enough that exposure to it could be LIFE THREATENING the staff need to just respond with respect and promise to let the kitchen know to clean the work surface, wash hands and put on fresh gloves before handling the food intended for the person with the allergy! Thank you for understanding that IF YOUR STAFF ARGUE WITH ME EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I. ORDER. THEN I WILL ABSOLUTELY TAKE MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! If the ambiance you're going for is a tiny restaurant with rude staff who like to argue with customers, well you nailed it! I appreciate you thanking me for my patience while your staff is just "doing the very best". Let me just say that I've been at the top in food service, and if THAT was the best my staff could do I would be writing people up for being rude, putting the health of the customers at risk out of sheer laziness, and I might even write some of them up for being incompetent. Speaking of patience, I tried MANY TIMES to get a message to you to let you know about these issues. I was kind enough to not report your restaurant to the health department (this was probably a mistake on my part, and I just hope your people haven't gotten anyone sick with their nasty food-money-food-trash-food handling practices). I kept coming back and spending a good chunk of money to feed our guests whenever we would have parties and I also picked up food for my immediate family from your restaurant often. YOU HAD BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR SEVENTEEN YEARS WHEN YOU RESPONDED TO MY REVIEW?! SEVENTEEN??!! Well, what can I say to that? This- You have been doing this for long enough that YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER than to allow your staff to behave this way! Anyone who knows anything about running a small business and the term "the fish stinks from the head" who is reading this back and forth between us knows that YOU are the source of the problems. !!!!! I find it quite disturbing that you didn't even bother to address the HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS that I cited in my review. THAT ALONE should be of GREAT CONCERN to ALL customers! !!!! Even IF the orders were always correct, and IF the staff were more friendly, and IF the front end staff didn't argue with customers about their allergies... a report of a customer witnessing health code violations should be of top priority to you, as the owner! And if the staff can't be bothered to change gloves and wash hands in between tasks IN THE FRONT OF THE HOUSE... WHO KNOWS WHAT KIND OF NASTY STUFF IS GOING ON IN THE BACK?! Oh, and telling me after the fact that the emails go to you and that you respond directly is all well and good, but your people answering the phone don't let customers know that. They give us the runaround and make it seem as though some outside person who doesn't really care much about feedback will be reading and MAYBE responding. Who told the staff to pretend that they can't reach out to you, that you won't be reading and responding to messages? I'm betting that was YOU. Any potential customers who are reading this review, please be aware that the staff are rude, make excuses for mistakes and bad behavior (as does the owner), they do not practice safe food handling and hand washing, and if you have a serious food allergy please be extra careful when dining here! read more

It's rare I find myself up by the east mountains these days. Of course every time I make it that way it's always an experience and an epic one! My best friend wanted to try this pizza place and so we met here. He told me there was a lot of hype for their famous pizza so just had to try. Honestly I'm pretty basic when it comes to pizza. From good old pepperoni, to the ninja turtles pizza (pepperoni and mushrooms), and of course the supreme and meat lovers. Plain cheese is good but I prefer mine with meat. As long as they've got the basics were good to go! Walking in I was a little disappointed that they were not offering dine in service. In fact I was very unprepared walking up to the door because had I known they weren't doing fine in I would've called ahead to place my order. They did have a mini patio area at least and it was a nice day. As soon as I saw they had a supreme I knew I just had to have it! The mozzarella sticks I didn't really need but I was really hungry and well who doesn't love the mozzarella sticks? The wait was a little long about 25 minutes roughly but they brought it out fresh and hot! The woman who took my order and brought it out was just so friendly and welcoming. She even brought me out some places and of course the pepper and parmasean cheese! The pizza looked spectacular. The cheese was nice and evenly distributed. Nothing disappointments me more than seeing a pie with bald spots and a thin layer of cheese. So A+ to these guys for not being stingy on the cheese! I took my first bite of the pizza and i loved how the ham was nice and juicy. The bell peppers were nice and crunchy and the onions soft enough it didn't overpower the rest of the toppings leaving a nice balance. The one thing I asked them to remove was the black olives. I don't like black olives. The only thing I like is the flavor they leave behind when cooked on a pizza but I usually pull them out and discard them before I eat my pizza. I only like to borrow them for their flavor. Overall it was a tasty pizza and the mozzarella sticks dipped in ranch was a nice touch. That pizza fed me for the day and was part of an epic trip I took! Next time I'm in the area I'll try more of their menu! This place is great for vegans and vegetarians: tofu ricotta and housemade pepperoni, vegan pizza & calzones, vegan meatball sandwich, vegan philly cheesesteak... Really liked the 'pepperoni' pizza, meatball sandwich, and stromboli. Didn't like the Philly much though, or the calzone (but I'm not normally into them). The regular pizza is quite tasty- just had one with sundried tomato, spinach, artichoke that was quite good. Also have good vegan desserts, and a big fresh salad. The biggest issue here is wait time. It can take a very long time to get your food, even if you order ahead. So order knowing this. Also, I find the prices kind of high, though the quality makes it more worth it. read more

Pizza is my love language. I was on the search for an excellent gluten-free/vegan pizza. The keyword here is GOOD. Haha, and oh boy, did I find it. My husband and I had to travel about 20 minutes to get there, but it was so worth it. We ordered the toasted vegan meatball sub, cheese bread with green Chile, and a gluten-free, vegan veggie pizza. First off, it was so much food. We had so much leftover. I'm going to give this whole meal a 10 out of 10. The food was delicious and didn't taste the way most vegan pizzas taste. I've eaten here twice. The second time because I couldn't believe it was as bad as I remembered. It was. I've eaten a lot of pizza in my life from a lot of different places. Some of it wasn't so good. Some was burnt. The pizza from Trail Rider isn't good. It's not an accident. It's intended to be the way it is. My family and I love this place! We just found out they have gluten free crust and gluten free pastries. I'm super excited about this. Unfortunately last night my pizza crust was super hard but I've been here before and even their regular crust is hit or miss. We sometimes get too soft of crust, too doughy, or to hard. They have actually been in business for 11 years, but the new Triangle Grocery relocation is 6 months new! I try to shop and eat local, but certain factors will always draw me back! This place hit on all cylinders. 1) It is Mom & Pop Family Owned (Elton, Ashley, and their 12 year old boy Jayden) 2) They hire my local musicians for the patrons pleasure. I was pleased by my local Grateful Dead band Let It Grow. 3) Food was Great! 4) Gives back to their community! Now 12 year old Jayden has been helping the homeless, helpless, and human beings since he was 9 years old!
