We stumbled upon Traveling J's at the 2nd Annual All Hallow's Flea and couldn't resist. With two…read morefood truck options--burgers (always a solid standby) or Middle Eastern fusion--we decided to go for the more adventurous choice. Best decision of the day. Even with the huge crowd, Traveling J's was running like a well-oiled machine. Two people--just a chef and a cashier--were absolutely cranking out orders while still keeping the line moving fast. Impressive! We narrowed our choices down to two items to split - Gourmet Grilled Cheese + Garlic Cilantro Fries (upgrade) and Hummus with carrots & cucumbers. Add two cold drinks and our total came to $28.62. Not bad considering the generous portions. When we opened our to-go boxes, we were seriously impressed. The hummus was smooth and creamy, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with spices. The fries were crispy (not soggy!) with just the right kick of garlic and cilantro. And the grilled cheese? Perfectly toasted, melty, and stuffed with sweet, crispy bacon. Cheese was oozing, bread was golden, and it was everything a grilled cheese should be--and then some. The portions were more than enough for two hungry adults, and everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I even made sure to compliment the chef--he looked like he'd been hustling nonstop to keep up with the crowd, and it showed in the quality. Next time, I've got my eye on their fried Halloumi cheese. It looked AMAZING coming out of that truck. Bottom line: Fresh, flavorful, filling, and run by a hardworking duo who know what they're doing. Traveling J's is officially on my "must-eat-again" list.

While I usually prefer Caribbean style empanadas. These one is one empanadas are delicious, especially with their chimichurri sauce. (And as somebody from the Caribbean, I can tell you that we will fight people over empanadas same with any of the different variations from across Central South America and the Caribbean) the service is quick, but also careful and friendly and we've become so enamored of their food that we also constantly get delivery from them. I also love something that they make which they definitely put a Venezuelan twist on, but it's something I grew up with where I lived and that is a Patacon. This is essentially a a sandwich with a variety of different filling options, but instead of using bread, you use two deep fried mashed plantains or in simpler terms tostones. It's a really simple dish, but I find that simple dishes are often the hardest to execute correctly and this one hits home every time. Also their little sit down eating area is really cute and welcoming so if you're in the mood for good Latin food, but are not looking for something super spicy. This is a really great bite.

Lucky Penny Burger Company had been on my foodie radar for quite some time. Every time I'd see one…read moreof their burgers pop up on social media, I'd think, "One of these days..." Unfortunately, my adventure schedule and Lucky Penny's event schedule never seemed to cooperate. Until one Friday evening, and Friday nights are well-known as Friday Night Date Night so this seemed like serendipity! I saw that AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union was celebrating America's 250th Anniversary by partnering with Lucky Penny Burger Company for a voucher-only community event. Best of all, you didn't even have to be a credit union member to participate. I swung by an AmeriChoice branch, picked up vouchers for my Adventure Buddy and me and suddenly my long-awaited Lucky Penny adventure was officially on the calendar! On a beautiful Friday evening, we headed to the food truck for our weekly Friday Night Date Night. Even though the event was busy, the Lucky Penny crew couldn't have been friendlier. They took our order, answered a couple of questions and had our food ready surprisingly quickly considering the line. For my meal, I ordered the Lucky Penny Burger, swapping cheddar for the standard American cheese. It came topped with bacon, lettuce, crispy fried onions and their signature Lucky Penny sauce. My Adventure Buddy chose the Copperhead Burger, featuring pepper jack cheese, jalapeño popper spread, lettuce and homemade candied jalapeños. For our sides, we split things up. Regular fries for my Adventure Buddy. Garlic Parmesan Fries for me. And let me just say...that upgrade was the correct life decision! The Lucky Penny Burger was fantastic! Everything worked together beautifully, but the real star was the signature Lucky Penny sauce. It tied the entire burger together without overpowering everything else, and I'd happily order that burger again tomorrow. My Adventure Buddy gave equally enthusiastic reviews of the Copperhead Burger, especially the homemade candied jalapeños, which added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. Then there were the Garlic Parmesan Fries. Garlic butter. Garlic aioli. Parmesan cheese. Parsley. What's not to love? They were crispy, flavorful and disappeared much faster than I'd care to admit! Overall, Lucky Penny Burger Company absolutely lived up to the hype I'd built up in my head over the past couple of years. Great food, friendly people and a smooth operation even during a busy community event. I'll also give a shoutout to AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union for putting together such a fun community event! It's always nice to see local organizations partnering with local small businesses, and this was a fantastic excuse to finally experience a food truck that had been on my must-try list for far too long! Now that my adventure schedule has finally crossed paths with Lucky Penny's once...I'll definitely be keeping an eye on their social media so we can make it happen again.

And, the platters are enough for two small eaters or one larger eater (with a few leftovers). The chicken was very good, the Gyro meat was as expected (I would have liked mine with more of a "char"), and the falafels were well seasoned with a crispy outside (and not greasy at all). I ordered mine with all the goodies to see how all the toppings blend together. I also had the white sauce and the hot sauce. It all worked well together. The wait was longer than expected but they did have a constant stream of customers and they were making things as they were ordered. Definitely worth a stop. Make it the last stop on your way home because you'll probably be taking something home. I didn't try the fries but there were people coming just for the fries and one of the sauces. I'll have to try that as a snack the next time I'm feeling snacky. The prices are decent. A can of soda was about $1.50. The large platter was about $12. You can eat a decent meal for about $15. Which is better than fast food and the flavors are so much more interesting. Now that I'm writing this, I'm craving some. I might need to see if they're around.

I do halal carts all the time in Philly and nyc and Argana is in the top 3 of what I've had. I don't think this is a halal cart, but similar. Get extra white sauce!! The rice eats it up. I asked for extra and it still wasn't enough. The chicken was delicious, I'm extremely picky with chicken and this was really good. The secret Argana sauce is highly recommended, definitely get it! Wait was about 10 minutes on a Wednesday night. Huge portions for the large platter.
