This bicycle shop and service center is absolutely amazing! I was experiencing a problem with the gear shift on my Giant bicycle, it's been a few years since we biked regularly so I thought I should have my bike and my husband's bike serviced. I called Trailhead Bicycles and asked about service packages, service appointments etc. The young gentleman I spoke to was Ian (sp), he was extremely helpful over the phone explaining the service procedures and timeframe for service completions available. We decided after talking to Ian to drop our bikes off that day for an evaluation. We expected to leave our bikes and pick-up two weeks later. Upon arrival, Ian met us and did a quick review of our bikes, assessed my gear malfunction, gave us price quotes etc. Due to the well kept condition of our bikes, Ian decided he could service our bikes right then. We were so surprised, not at all what we expected! Long story, Ian performed a thorough review and service of our bikes and had us out of there within an hour - not two weeks as expected! Ian provided us peace of mind about the condition and operation of our bikes, he assured us our bikes are in great condition and safe for us to hit the trails! We received excellent service from the helpful, kind and courteous staff at this location - highly recommend. Very educated and friendly staff. They appear to have a good selection especially given the current nationwide shortage of bicycles. The only bad thing about this place is they are not real convenient to me. Why do I drive by 4 other bike stores to go here? Service and attitude. The owners, Mike and Emilie, have now taken care of all my bikes for a few years. Any parts and service I need done I do here. They go above and beyond here not because, I think, they have to it is because they want to. They genuinely treat you like a friend. I have purchased and had installed chains and tires. I have also purchased various accessories and Gu. They might not always be the cheapest (but are VERY close) but the exceptional care and commitment they show to their customers makes me want to make sure they are around for a long, long time. read more

They are absolute experts on anything bikes and will set you up with the perfect bike every time. They're nice, they're friendly, and they treat you like family. I'm a life-long fitness biker but not a superfit triathlon dude or a bike geek who wants to talk pro and cons of components. I often am condescended to or dismissed at bike stores. What a huge relief it was to be taken seriously, given helpful information, and talked to at a level of detail that matched my interest. My husband needed a tune up on his bike so we chose this bike shop. We walked in and the place has so much selection. We inquired about making an appointment and was told it was iffy for that particular weekend because of a biking event in the area. We explained we understood and thought we would have to come back but they squeezed us in and got it finished as they said. Everyone was so nice and so knowledgeable about bikes and trails in the area. My husband took his bike out and rode for along time and said his bike felt better then brand new. These guys rock. Emilie and Mike are so laid back, friendly and welcoming. I went there randomly around the time they first opened. Spoke to both of them and looked at all the bikes. I originally just needed a tube and was shopping for helmets. Fast forward a few months and I ended up buying a full suspension Rocky Mountain bike from them; I believe they are the exclusive dealer in STL for the Rocky Mountain brand. They really took their time discussing all the options I had available for my type of riding and the budget I had in mind. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and since then I've upgraded the bike in numerous ways with exceptional service every time. They also offer price matching on most components and will install many parts for free if you purchase from them. Finally, and definitely not least, they have an adorable shop dog now named Henry. Harrison was incredibly patient, answering my many questions and helping me to find the right bike for my needs. He was knowledgeable about everything from the bike itself to bike racks, clothing and accessories, and add-on equipment. He gave me a thorough orientation on how to properly use the bike and he spent a great deal of time adjusting every part of the bike so it fits perfectly and I can maximize it's use. Met Mike and Emilie last year when my wife and I stopped in to shop around for some accessories. Went by today looking for a new helmet and some riding gear. Mike is so laid back and probably has forgotten more than I'll ever know about bikes! I'm not an avid cyclist, more recreational with a lot of miles on the Katy. I kinda just wanted him to tell me what I needed, but he listened more instead, then offered some suggestions. No pressure whatsoever. I learned a lot and he set me up nicely. This is a great little shop that caters to the novice (like me) as well as the hardcore cyclists. This place is great! From the adorable bike shop puppy, Henry, to the customer service. We purchased a bike rack here and they assembled it and put it on our vehicle for free of charge. There was an honest mistake in putting the rack together, which they fixed, and even tuned up our bikes for no charge, which I didn't expect. We still would have paid for it! They are friendly, super knowledgeable, and help you pick out what you need based on what works best for you, not what they would profit the most from. We will be repeat customers! read more

I was looking for a new road bike and had gone to or talked to at least ten STL area shops, and the folks at Trailhead were by far the most personable and displayed the most passion and interest for someone looking to join the STL road bike community! Their love of cycling is apparent from the moment they walk in the door, and what sold me was how informative they were without any of the sometime "snobbish" feel other stores can dish out! The customer service at this bike shop BLEW MY MIND. We are visiting from southern California and my fiancé wanted to rent a bike for the day. The owner really went above and beyond to discuss the different options. Knowing this was a one-time thing, and we wouldn't become regular customers, I truly expected a "pick-a-bike and pay" attitude. Instead, she discussed which bikes would be best for the type of riding he wanted to do, and filled him in on trails in the area. She even chatted with me while we waited forever for him to test ride. We decided to pick it up the next day because it was pretty close to sunset, but she let us take it that day and keep it until the next day's closing, for only a one day charge. The shop had a great selection for both road and mountain riders, and good prices on the items I peeked at.
