This could have been the absolute worst experience I've ever had at an "Upscale" Steakhouse So let's start off with walking into a completely dead restaurant on a Friday night- Had a reservation for 6:30 (didn't need it) Decided to sit at the empty bar. The bartender who had worked at the restaurant for 7 years was working her very last shift- Ordered a bottle of wine- not available Tried another not available finally just said what do you have?? Got some Pinot Grigio that wasn't cold nor was I asked to taste... Anyway asked if there was still prime rib available- was told yes! Not surprised due to the 12 people in the entire restaurant. Got a shrimp cocktail served in a warm pasta bowl. Shrimp were mediocre at best $20 for 6- cocktail sauce was cumin scented not sure why... Fast forward to ordering the main course...we were told no Prime Rib was left??.... WHAT??? Decided to get the check and left. This is a great little restaurant in quaint downtown Jamestown that serves fresh food. There are not enough nice, somewhat higher-end restaurants in the area, so this is worth a try. We enjoyed both the steaks and seafood. We got plenty to eat and the service was friendly and informal. Possibly the worst meal I have had in a long time. We came to the area to spend a weekend at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel and selected the Chop House for our first dinner. Drinks were okay, bartender was super nice and attentive but the food was subpar. The best thing we ate was the coconut shrimp which most likely came from a box. We had the cob salad and then the ribeye. The salad was okay but the steak was like beef jerky and the baked potato was like a day old and seemed reheated in a microwave. We were so looking forward to a great meal but left disappointed and hungry. Our fault for not reading a review from a month ago, and not turning around when we saw only a few people in the restaurant at 7:30 on a Friday night. read more

This place is possibly the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. I've heard great things about the steaks, even from people working at the Seneca/Niagara casino steakhouse. Upon arriving (it was dead empty on a Saturday night at 8pm) I noticed the awful LED lighting. It's a harsh blue light that feels like a hospital or a prison. It does goes quite well with the digital fireplace on the wall though. The food was equally bad. Steaks that were an extremely subpar cut of meat, that looked and tasted like they were boiled. "Mashed potatoes" that were so dry, cold and inedible, there's no chance they were made within a few hours of being plated. Soggy asparagus was placed under the steak, so that the entire steak tasted like it was marinated in asparagus. Server was very nice - feel bad she has to get tips based on this extremely disappointing quality of food. Should rename it to The Slop House. At this point, we know we're in a small town, so choices are somewhat limited. The Chop House looked good, and upon entering the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised at how classy it was! We ordered the half wedge salad and lobster bisque to start. The wedge was alright, I would've liked some bacon in it! The lobster bisque was....different. It has the consistency and look of a Campbells cream of mushroom, but luckily, it tasted alright! We shared the ribeye with asparagus and mushroom. The steak had good grill marks but was more rare than the medium rare we ordered and was not seasoned to our liking. Not bad though. The service was good, and the gm & owner came by to check on us. I cannot say enough good things about this place and it's staff. You can literally cut your steaks with a butter knife! They were so juicy and tender. We absolutely were in love with the truffle fries, steaks, garlic mashed potatoes, bread with assorted butters, and drinks. I am a complete snob when it comes to my Manhattans and Moscow mules, these were perfect. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the crab mac'n'cheese. That being said I still ate it and didn't hate it. I just prefer a cheesier creamier mac. They completely remodeled this place to turn it into a beautiful classy steakhouse. I can't remember our waitress' name but she was phenomena! Perfectly attentive without being over bearing. She seemed very happy to be there and always smiled. The food was amazing. Salad was crisp with homemade croutons. I ordered Chicken Marsala. The risotto was the best I've had in over 25 years. The glaze was delicious with the mushrooms. The Asparagus was scrumptious! (rarely can someone make her steak right) We ordered dessert to go, as they squeezed us in between reservations. The Bad * Although there were few people dining, it was very noisy. I cannot imagine the noise level when busy. I think some noise abatement is required. * The dining room faces west and the shades do a poor job blocking the setting sun. I watched another table's patrons having to sit in the sun. * The asparagus was inedible. Thin, overcooked and dried out. * We have eaten a lot of crème brulee in our time. This one was weird. We tried to figure out what happened and concluded the pastry chef had over cooked the eggs. We really wanted to give them four stars, but they have some issues to work out. read more

Visiting from Florida, decided to have dinner at the Chop house on Main. I ordered a $58 filet mignon, 8 ounces. I was served a piece of meat 1/4 inch thick and over cooked. My waiter was Jessie. He explained to me the Chop House on Main butterfly their filet mignon to speed up the cooking. There is no way this was 8 ounces nor was it a filet mignon. I can honestly say, I have never seen a filet mignon butterflied. I had to give it back. John, the manager took 25% off my bill. Luckily there are better steak houses in Jamestown, NY read more

We were visiting Chautauqua Lake for our anniversary and reserved a table here for our anniversary dinner. The host/manager was very welcoming. Our server Kadence was a gracious host and surprised us with a chocolate lava cake to celebrate along with a card signed by the staff. Very classy restaurant, the decor is great. I have visited family in Jamestown for years now and this is the nicest restaurant I've ever been to. This is a newly opened great steak house and we came with a party of 7 on New Years Eve - the place was very busy and the staff handled the customers with a personal touch. The Bar Staff know what they are doing and this is a welcoming fun environment. The food was on point. I had the Grilled Cesar Salad with steak - Awesome! My wife had the Salmon on risotto- she loved it. One of the party had a burger and loved it. Everyone had filets or strip steaks. We shared deserts and the carrot cake was crazy good. I only reserved the 5th star because from reservation to seating to service it was slow, (they were busy and the party before us were enjoying themselves), I think the 5th Star comes with just the whole team working more in sync and that comes with time. After an exhausting day on the road my friend we both needed to relax and we were pleasantly surprised to find a high line steakhouse in this part of the state. Carrie was fantastic. My husband and I were driving through Jamestown, NY and just did a simple online search for something open on a Monday evening. Wow were we glad we found this! The restaurant is easy to locate off of the highway, ambiance external and internal was divine. Happened to have live jazz band as well! Food was delicious and portioned well for price. Steak was perfectly done and I'm still raving about the Brussels sprouts. French onion soup and salad was also delicious. This is just what we were looking for in Jamestown. The bartender was amazing. She made us some very cool craft cocktails. We ordered a bunch of appetizers. All of them are spot on except for the tuna. And that just might be us. We are not a fan of the Wakame seaweed salad. It was also served in a bowl which was kind of awkward for cutting the tuna.
