November 2022 Came here after Penn State win over Michigan State
Randy R.

What can ya say? It's a chain, so one really shouldn't be much different from the next. When we are on the road and I ask my kids, "Where do you guys want to eat?" 9 outta 10 times it's, Texas Roadhouse. So I wasn't surprised when they asked me to take them here last night after the PSU game. My kids felt this was the "Best" Texas Roadhouse they have ever been to. I asked them to explain. They said the bathrooms were the cleanest, they thought our server was very nice, service was fast, and most of all, they proclaimed that this Texas Roadhouse had the BEST ROLLS outta of all others. We ordered a 6oz Dallas Filet and a 14oz Ribeye cooked medium. They both were cooked to perfect temperature. My son got the kids Mac and Cheese, and he was satisfied with that at 5 Rolls! I was very impressed how fast we got seated and served on a busy Saturday after a PSU game.

Undercooked potato, undercooked steak, most of steak was inedible.
Sushiplease ..

Steak under cooked, very loaded with sinew I couldn't chew, sweet potato under cooked. Out of chili. When the waitress came back and said that they had chili now, she asked if we wanted to take some home and we said yes. We were charged for two full bowls of chili instead of the dollar something side upgrade.

6oz Sirloin & Side Rack of Ribs

While in the area I stopped in here for dinner... I typically don't like this average chain steak houses as they're all the same and not very good... but after seeing positive press about a couple of new Texas Roadhouses in my area, I decided to give this one a try while in this area. The bar was packed, so was the restaurant... there were a lot of people waiting outside when I arrived and so many still waiting when I left.  Craziness that people wait in line to eat here! The bartenders were decent and friendly.  They menu is the typical chain steakhouse fare.  Sides to choose from on the menu were abundant.  I went with a salad with ranch and chili.  The salad was decent, it's iceberg lettuce, but had too much of the harder white core in it.  The chili had a nice flavor, but twice I bit into huge chunks of fat (like 1/2" chunks). I tried the 6oz sirloin and added the rib add-on.  The ribs are definitely "fall off the bone" but lacked the flavor I look for in ribs, which includes smoke and some BBQ sauce.  I asked for, and got a side of BBQ sauce to dip the ribs in and this helped, especially since they were dry as well.  The steak was prepared to my liking, which was medium rare plus.  But the steak had barely any flavor to it and was really boring.  I'm not a "steak sauce" kinda guy, so I asked for some creamy horseradish to dip the steak into and this helped immensely. Overall, it was an adequate meal and so was the service.  Now that I've been, I can't say I'll be back for many years, until I once again forget why I stopped coming and need that reminder.

Another pic of raw filet.

From the start, our experience was not good. This was meant to be our celebratory anniversary dinner. My boyfriend and I both ordered medium-rare steaks. His steak (a ribeye) was burnt on the outside and overdone on the inside. Mine (a filet) was more than rare on the inside. (Borderline raw!-- see pictures). My stomach still hurts from the extremely bloody taste it left in my mouth. On top of that, the service was odd. Our server disappeared for 20 minutes or longer while we were waiting for our water. Our food took very very long to arrive. (~45 minutes). Finally, my second drink (a gin and tonic) tasted awful. It almost tasted like they left out the gin altogether (It tasted like a different drink entirely, maybe vodka soda?) there wasn't a lime on it either, which has me suspecting it wasn't gin at all. I ended up ordering a different drink without drinking it. The two things we did enjoy a lot were the sides, the fried pickles, and the margarita I ordered after the bungled gin and tonic. For this I believe this review deserves one star. We have been to Texas Roadhouse many times. I was surprised and really upset to receive this service. For a special day this experience absolutely ruined it. I can go as far to say that I have never experienced such horrid service.

First, I did not give one star because I was a regular here and all food based on my past experience is good. This FLY incident, I'm not sure this is a one time thing or I just didn't notice before. Either way, I don't want to be too judgemental so I still rated two stars. Second, I went back to the restaurant and talked to the manager. I requested a refund on this dish and they verbally said yes since I paid online and they couldn't process the payment in-store. So far I haven't received the refund yet but I will edit my review if in the future I receive it. Third, I hate being overly subjective on this issue but after all, this is a food safety issue. For me, in the future, I will DEFINITELY avoid the BAKED POTATOES and the SOUR CREAM.

My medium steak, which was more medium rare

But for pork being a salty meat, we felt we needed more just to give it some flavor. Unfortunately, their salt packet container was filled exclusively with pepper (this is easily correctable and does not factor into our score). The brisket texture was OK and had a decent color and smoky flavor to it, though it may have been slightly overdone, as it was very dry. If I were to describe the flavor it would be Jack Link's Beef Jerky. The sauces were, to be blunt, not great. The mustard based sauce was pretty much just mustard. There was a ketchup based sauce that didn't offer much else. There were 2 other sauces, neither of which paired well with the 2 meats, and frankly I'm having a hard time even coming up with words to describe them. A way to improve would be a vinegar based sauce for the pulled pork (Carolina style), and offer up a reasonably spicy sauce. The biggest issue was we felt like we were chasing flavor and unable to find it, even mixing and matching sauces and meats. Prices were very reasonable for the quantities of food.

It's a family owned Korean Fried Chicken restaurant with 2 locations in the central PA area. The restaurant in State College is in an older building, on a side street, and it's an interesting internal layout. Parking would be on the street or a nearby parking garage. There was only one person working the counter area and the ordering process was not well thought out. The restaurant is in the basement of the building, the seating area has no natural light and it's decor is dated/lacking. We ordered fried dumplings, boneless fried chicken, rice with sauce and a bulgogi bowl between two of us. The food came out fairly quick and was honestly delicious. The boneless chicken was premade but then reheated as is typical in most asian restaurants. You have to order sauce on the side, at an additional cost, and it was a fairly small serving. These dishes have some heat, which we enjoyed, but be careful. We really liked each dish and the portions were large. As other's noted, this place was expensive. Our bill was over $50 for two of us. That's more than it's worth. If you're looking for asian inspired cuisine nearby try Bistrozine!

The service was spot on, the food was cooked perfectly, the burgers were very tasty, the criss-cut sweet potato fries with hot honey and vinegar salt were fantastic, and the shakes were delicious. That first visit was memorable enough that we were excited to come back. This time, we waited about 50 minutes at around 5:30PM on a Thursday before graduation weekend. Honestly, that part was understandable, and we were prepared for a wait. We had a nice booth for five and ordered table fries, a few shakes, and five burgers. The fries were still excellent, and the shakes were great. Unfortunately, the burgers and service did not live up to the previous visit. My burger tasted more like stewed meat than seared beef, almost as if it had been sitting for a while. It was overcooked and under-seasoned. Our server was pleasant enough, but several sides, condiments, and modifiers were forgotten. Waters were never refilled, the table was not cleared, and a salad that had been misordered was not removed from the bill. I understand it was a busy night, but at around $40 per person for food at a burger place, I expected more consistency. I'll give The Field another try the next time I'm in town because our first experience was so good, but this visit was a letdown.
