Well let's see, where do I start... I went there last year the stylist messed up and I paid too…read moremuch. I yelped them previously and Mai (the owner/manager) called me and invited me back to fix my hair. (I don't know about you all but my time is precious, and spending another 3 hrs to fix was frustrating, but I did it). I went today with my daughter for Mother's Day had the same stylist that had messed my hair up last time (I thought I would give her another chance) Mai was not there. My daughter and I went in at 11am left there at 5:30. My daughter had to have her hair re-done and then they charged her extra to fix it without communicating that. She went in and was quoted for highlights, toner, and a cut, then was charged extra for a shadow root and gloss to fix the mistake. We understand stylist are human and make mistakes they say "tell us we will fix it." They make it hard to express it's not what she wanted. I was in a separate chair and heard her expressing it and then my stylist got involved and I had to tell them to stop talking over my daughter while she was trying to tell her what she actually wanted. As my daughter was explaining what she wanted, my stylist was speaking in another language to her stylist at the same time. The stylist my daughter had just did not know what she was doing. If you want to train stylist then charge less. We were there 6 1/2 hours I paid $450 she spent $390 (that's before tip) and they did fix her hair and we spent a whole day there. It was beyond ridiculous. Mean while my stylist put me under a blow dryer because she didn't want to blow dry my hair and then she worked another customer and had the receptionist finish blow drying hair then she came back to curl it. Don't get me wrong I can spend the money but please don't hide cost, double book and then act like you are doing me a favor. WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!! Again I don't mind paying but I want to leave happy and with what I asked for. I want to say usually I sit with a hair stylist tell them what I want and have a conversation with them and come to a conclusion and then the magic happens. That does not happen at Plaza Hair Salon. They seem to struggle to understand English. The other stylist get involved to help and they don't even know what the customer actually wants. It was a sh*t show. Super sad this was our experience getting our hair done together on Mother's Day.

Applied it to my dry hair and had me come in the next day for a cut. His haircutting technique is very different than what I've had in the past. She offers booking an appointment online through Yelp or Vargo (on her website) as well as calling/text. After selecting from the available times for the next day, I sent in my request and it was accepted quickly. She is located in Phenix Salon Suites in Poway with her own little private room (as are the other beauticians in the building). I thought that was cool -- first time seeing that kind of set up. She is so nice and sweet, and she told me everything she was doing with my hair from the beginning along with the products she used. She made sure I got what I wanted and also gave her suggestions. I am usually afraid of getting my hair done (I have a little bit of social anxiety) but I am looking forward to coming back to her for my future beauty needs.

It's a chill vibe, no conversation between by son and hairstylist. The haircut cost $22 on the barbershop next door it's $25. The salon offers military discount but only for the military person. He has cut his hair three times here. Two times by the same person, every time so far has been good. The cut is what we asked for, price is good and meets the criteria for the program.
