Finally found "my place" in Louisville. I had been getting a cut/color at the "big name" place on Shelbyville Road since we moved to Louisville two years ago. While that experience was fine, it felt impersonal for the amount of money that I was laying out. Earlier this summer, my mother bought a spa-day package for my birthday. I had a full day of pampering: manicure, massage, facial, cut and blowout. I had a fun day and was impressed with the quality of services. The next time I needed to book a cut and color, I decided to give Tranquility a try. I was matched with Erika- and now I wouldn't go anywhere else. Although Tranquility offers a premium experience, it feels personal in exactly the way I was hoping by for. Everyone is friendly and knows my name, and I don't feel rushed in and out. Recently, when we had a family medical emergency, Erika actually called me to see how I was doing. Even better, my hair looks the best it ever has. So I have gone to this spa for almost 20 years... since it opened. In December of 2019 my daughters purchased a gift certificate for a massage and facial. I was not able to use it before Covid hit and at the point businesses were forced to shut down. With Covid, I also did not feel comfortable going. Then I forgot that I had it with all the craziness. Now with things opening and the vaccine, I wanted to use it. Mind you it was for 2 spa treatments so my daughters paid a pretty penny for this gift certificate. I called and was told that the gift certificate clearly states it was only good for a year and that they did extend it by 30 days as a courtesy. However I am 12 days past the extension so my gift card is no longer good. To say I am disappointed, is a understatement. Completely understand that businesses have to have a cut off but there is right and there is wrong. They just lost a long time client, my family and friends. read more

Working as a nurse through a pandemic I've had to learn a lot about understanding the frustrations of others and doing what I can to correct this. To find out the unprofessional responses made was discouraging. I'm sure I will also get a message from this owner trying to underplay her words and just accuse "her and her daughters" being upset, but that's fine. It's not about the massages, it's about human decency, especially during a pandemic where I have watched people die of covid. So to waste my money that I work very hard for because it was 12 days expired is astonishing to me. Most businesses were closed majority of these months that it was "valid". Disappointed at the lack of professionalism of this said owner. I don't need a response from you, just to remember that being a good understanding person is a lot more inviting. read more

TERRIBLE. My family and I have been going here for almost 20 years. I bought my mother a gift card last year for her birthday, covid hit & so she has been unable to go. She is finally able and comfortable going, calls to schedule, and they tell her the gift card that my sister and I paid for is no longer valid and it clearly states that on the certificate that it's valid for 1 year. She is 12 days past expiration. You'd think given how loyal we have been coupled with a GLOBAL PANDEMIC they would make an exception but instead they only offered 20% discount off a new purchase. Terrible business decision, as we will not be going back. Never have I ever had a business not honor a gift certificate, let alone during these unique circumstances. This is not the type of business you want to give business to when so many other small businesses are struggling right now. I've been coming to Tranquility for almost 2 years since I moved to Louisville. I see Oksana for facials once a month, and she has helped me maintain my acne-prone skin. I first started seeing Oksana because I wanted help clearing up my complexion before my wedding, and she performed miracles for my skin. I saw her twice a month for three months leading up to my wedding, and she transformed my complexion, I still can't even believe it. Now I just go in for maintenance once every 4 or 5 weeks. Oksana is extremely thorough, and she does a great shoulder and neck massage and arm and hand massage while the masks or peels are setting on my face. I love the products they use--Eminence Organic Skin Care has done wonders for my skin. I always get compliments on my skin, which I never thought would be possible before, with how bad and stubborn my acne used to be. Thanks Oksana! You're the best!!! read more

Had to argue that I did not get all the services I was scheduled for. It may not bother some of you but the hair dresser smelled terribly of smoke. They have great gift packages and the service has always been phenomenal. My masseuse, who's name I can't remember but she has short brown hair, was very attentive and even threw in some hot rocks to help with my trouble spots. Let me first say everyone I encountered was very nice, however I don't feel they offered a good value and quality. The price of a spa pedicure was $50 and spa manicure was $30 bringing the total to $80 plus tip. Normally I would be okay with this if the equipment was higher quality; the chair I sat in for the pedicure was thin and was not a massage chair, the violet lights didn't work on the dryers, the room I was left in was small and outdated. I had a really good experience at this spa. I go to Leslie to get reflexology. Honesty she is amazing! I go to Cindy for facials and my skin has never felt or looked better. I go to Angela to get my nails done. My feet have never felt so good! The prices are reasonable. The staff has been very friendly and kind. The atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming. I am now making this a monthly routine. The spa always sends me a text reminder the day before my appointment which I love. The spa always has coffee, tea and water for their guests. By far THE WORST manicure I've ever had. I don't remember her name but she was a woman with dark hair and thick accent, she SPED through my manicure and did an awful job. She missed spots, my nails are awful, crocked, chipped, didn't clean my nail beds well at all. I'm never coming back, this was my first and last visit. The only reason this place even deserves a one star is because of Leslie the massage therapist, her massage was incredible and she was very friendly. The nail lady Elina was very rude and refused to do my nails because they had a dip polish on them (which can be removed with soaking in acetone) and so they wouldn't refund me, instead they put it towards the gratuity to the workers there. The pedicure was an absolute waste of money, Elina scraped off the gel polish off my toes 3 times after she kept repainting them. She soaked my feet for maybe 2 minutes and the rest of that hour was her scraping my toes because she couldn't figure out how to use the nail polish! An absolute waste of money and disappointing! This was a gift for my birthday and I was so upset when I left this place, it completely ruined my day. TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE !!!! read more

Was in town visiting a friend and we went for massages at Tranquility. I was a client of Victoria's. This was hands-down one of the best massages of my life. Don't be fooled. Victoria is tiny but very strong and was in-tune with my body. No time was wasted and she made sure to spend extra time on my shoulders, per request. I loved her focus and her technique. Molly really listened to my requests and worked out all the knots in the areas I had told her about before the massage began. The atmosphere was totally relaxing, peaceful, and clean. I recently had my second visit to Tranquility. My sister and I had a long needed and well-deserved spa day. Even though our last trip to Louisville to go there was a few years ago, we were looking forward to another visit. I had a facial with the same person, Oksana, as I had last time and enjoyed it just as much this time as before. Then I had a great deep tissue massage. They really make a point to relax you and make sure you enjoy yourself. I also like that they're honest with you. I asked about a glycolic peel or a microderm treatment and Oksana said that I really wasn't that bad and didn't need a microderm but maybe I'd benefit from a peel. She could have taken the high road and recommended the more expensive or even both but she didn't. I really liked that. I've gone to other spas and they definitely don't do that! One place told me to get a chemical peel with microderm and my face looked terrible. The other place charged me $40 for slapping a papaya on my face and didn't even tell me there was a charge. I went to a place here in Lexington and they were also crappy. Did the bare minimum, charged a ton more, and sent me off. Finding a good spa is a treasure so that's why I'm willing to drive the distance to go here. :) read more
