For people who have never gone to TSO, it's important to understand that it is basically a HEAVY METAL CONCERT plus laser light show. A few of the songs are typical Christmas songs, but most of them are not. I saw it at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, and the venue there was very LOUD. I recommend bringing ear plugs. In my opinion, TSO is NOT appropropriate for kids, unless they like heavy metal. The laser light show was cool, though. In summary, if you like this type of concert, you will probably really like it! I've seen TSO 3 times previously. Heart pounding and tear-jerking. That's why I wanted to go again. The version in Phoenix on Nov 30th was so disappointing . The original songs included were boring but were voiced by strong performers. But the performance manager, or whoever is in charge of the overall product the audience experiences, should be fired stat. The background music was so loud the lyrics could not be heard. Such a waste of talent The other complete waste of talent was the violinists and solo performers. The last show I saw lowered them from the ceiling and their virtuoso performances were entrancing. Tonight everything was drowned out by the overwrought music score. The audience was completely underwhelmed. They only became animated with a reference to prior shows (screens of chaos). If you've ever wondered what would happen if a Christmas tree, a Hot Topic, and a malfunctioning laser tag arena formed a band, look no further than the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Calling this a "concert" is generous -- it's more like being held hostage at a holiday-themed monster truck rally where the monster trucks have guitars. The entire night feels like someone crammed Mannheim Steamroller, WWE intros, and the soundtrack to a 2003 Mountain Dew commercial into a blender set to obliterate. The lights alone could trigger a migraine in a brick wall. I'm convinced half the budget goes toward fog machines and the other half toward training the band to dramatically hair-whip in perfect unison like it's a religion. Musically, it's the same three ideas recycled endlessly: 1. Take a Christmas song. 2. Add a guitar solo that sounds like it was rejected from Guitar Hero III. 3. Repeat until the audience is numb or spiritually defeated. By the third power ballad, I found myself rooting against Christmas. By the fifth narration interlude -- each one performed with the intensity of someone reading slam poetry about a snowflake's troubled childhood -- I started questioning every decision that led me to sit in that seat. If you enjoy subtlety, artistry, or not being blinded every two seconds, this is not the show for you. But if you've ever thought, "What if Christmas, but with the energy of an energy drink problem?"... congrats, this is your Super Bowl. Trans-Siberian Orchestra is proof that louder is not better, lasers do not equal emotion, and some things should stay on the radio during December and never leave. Save your money. Saw the Lost Christmas show in Tampa Dec 2024. It was my first TSO concert. I hated everything about it. Loud unrecognizable music, repetitive light show which after 5 minutes became boring, almost no Christmas songs, no Christmas decor, I guess there was a story being told but I have no idea what it was. Theres no question the performers are talented and the music innovative but it also had to be the loudest, most uncomfortable concert Ive ever been to. Last time I went I said "never again". First off they pack you in like Sardines in these little card game folding chairs and if your over 40yo of have some kind of disability your going to have a miserable time. Secondly the pyrotechnics are so powerful the temperature in the entire room would go up 20% when they lit the candles. And lastly the noise. We went about 10 years ago and Ive had tinnitus ever since. Past 7PM and my ears are ringing. And Ive seen them all. You name the band since 1970 and I saw them but I never heard such noise before. Not sure what the hype is about. Yes, some talented musicians, but the show itself was confusing. Xmas essence but not? Seemed divided between Christ and Satan to be honest, which lent to the overall confusion for most I believe. Depressing theme to start, sexual innuendo with young female children and a male in a video, confusing storyline, just weird all around. Very '80's but not in a good way, 80's tech-ish. Would have been a little more tolerable if they just played music, skip the narration and very odd video story background, and dial back the light show. Do not recommend. Worst concert experience ever. Also - how do venues get away with charging $7.50 for a 500ml bottle of pop? It's criminal! read more

The Lost Christmas...a very disappointing and sad story. Background videos were too small to accurately see the marching soldiers, etc. Also, I have a handicap parking placard, but the attendant would not allow me in the GEICO parking garage. I've seen them before and this year I was so excited tied to take my partner for his first show in Dallas 2025. We were both super disappointed in the lack of energy, orchestra and Christmas music. We almost fell asleep at one point in the show. Nothing to sing along to, sound system overpowering the singers and overplayed electric guitars. This is really no longer an orchestra, just a rock band. Very very disappointed this year. read more

Went to see TSO in Oklahoma City on Dec. 7, 2025 and was horribly disappointed. Got up and left the show after the first 20 minutes. The sound was dangerously loud (~115db) and it was basically a heavy metal rock concert. They should rename themselves and leave off the "Orchestra" from the title. Basically two guitars, one drummer, and two piano players plus some singers who were awful. Nothing like I've ever heard on the radio from TSO. They have morphed into a horrible mess. read more

We just saw the show at the Allstate Arena 12/29/23 ~ The Show, Effects & Music were great! 3 things... 1. You need a video camera to focus on the singers/acts as in a typical standard concert venue. I had to use the Zoom on my phone to discern the singer/ focus of the show, which was an inconvenience. 2. Your sporadic white strobe lights are very, very overpowering. We had to close our eyes. You need to minimize this effect, especially. For people with visual issues. I saw people leaving because of the effects. 3. In certain scenes, you may want to diminish your smoke/fog. It looks cool, but it distorts viewing for the audience. I am not a heavy metal band enthusiast, but your spark & performance were definitely energetic! TSO 2021 Winter Tour: Christmas Eve and Other Stories [Sacramento CA] They were at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. They hosted two shows on December 3rd. We attended the 7:30p show. We were on the nosebleed 200 level seats but it actually wasn't too bad because we didn't need to see the faces of the performers, not like a Broadway show or a play... it was an incredible view watching the light show, a spectacular sight in itself and a more desirable view from our angle looking below because we could see everything. Audio was great in the back, not bassy or garbled had we had seats close to the front stage. Those speakers are set to pump out a lot of volume because the sound waves have to make their way around all those bodies and other objects in the venue. The main thing I wanted to watch was the "Carol of the Bells" performance. When this song plays on the radio it's officially Christmas LoL! (imho) Best Christmas song especially their version. It was performed in the first hour of the concert so it was cool that we didn't have to wait until the end. I didn't recognize any of the songs performed but I liked the instrumental medley of classic Christmas songs like "O Come Let Us Adore Him" and "O Holy Night." Blas Elias! He is one of two drummers for TSO. We also saw him perform in "Raiding the Rock Vault" at Las Vegas twice. The venue was much smaller at the Hard Rock so we were able to watch him up close. Excellent musician! Fun to watch him rock those drums! Lastly, we did not stay for the entire show. We must've stayed for 1.5 hours. No intermission. I think the show still ran for another hour. Hubby was mostly concerned about getting out of the parking garage. Was stuck inside there once after attending another concert and it was chaotic and took forever getting out. All the music sounded the same. They need to update their stage and the tempo of almost every song feels the same.

I knew there was going to be a big show with fun and lights and theatrics, I knew there was going to be some rocking guitars, I did not know I was going to a screeching 80's hair band, I did not know I was going to experience the biggest laser lights I've ever imagined, a seizure warning needs to come with the show. The pyrotechnics were wild, it left the steps singed black in places. It was so loud, I was uncomfortable and that's why I decided to leave early, I could not take the assault on my ward any longer. The show itself is weird, some guy comes out to tell a story between songs and the stories are weird and poorly written and don't make sense. The music is heavy rock hair band jamming away to songs I don't know. At one point, a woman emerged from the middle of the floor and yodeled and arm danced in between yodels. It was all just insanity. I thought there would be more orchestra and more Christmas music. I left behind a portion of hearing I'll never get back. Some people really enjoy this show, just know it's ALOT of guitars screeching, a ton of lasers flashing all around including at yoand it's very loud, bring your Loopies earplugs so you can enjoy yourself. read more

I just attended the 12/28 show in Dallas, TX and it was just terrific! TSO sang and played their hearts out. The light show was very extra with lots of great surprises thrown in. I was young in the late 80's and 90's, so I loved the rock guitars with their soaring solos.The violinist and all of the singers were so talented with enormous ranges and styles. The narrator was also very endearing and did a great job telling the story. I took my 14-year old son and he was not thrilled about having to go today. He sat through the first few songs with a blank expression on his face. Before I knew it he was smiling and applauding. He admitted on the way home that he really enjoyed it and was very glad he went. The story started off sad, but had a very positive and hopeful message. There was nothing "satanic" as I read from some comments. I'm not sure if they were referring to the pyrotechnics? If you enjoy soaring electric guitar solos, violin solos, talented pianists, an awesome Texas drummer, gifted singers, and an absolutely incredible laser/light show, then you will likely love the show. As others have pointed out, this is not orchestral music. Take the time to watch some of their Youtube videos and decide for yourself before going. The band definitely knocks themselves out to give their all to the audience and they put on an amazing show. Can't wait to see them again next year! read more

Attended the 12-28-24 show in Dallas, TX at American Airlines Center. This was our second time to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. We were excited as our first experience a few years prior was awesome! We got up and left the show after 1:15 minutes. Totally depressing story line about death and child abandonment, and other dark topics. WTH? Whoever decided to go the "Overly dramatic narration / let's tell a story in between songs" route should be sent back to the high school drama department from which they were hired. High ticket price plus $45 to park, no thanks. This will be our last TSO attendance. read more

The singing was awful and unintelligible to the point that subtitles were needed. The choreography was so atrocious that one of the dancers refused to dance along. There were three people on stage, very hard to miss the one that wouldn't do their job. There was one point where a lady was singing from inside a snow globe. She sounded like Sloth from The Goonies and looked like she was having a seizure. I guess she was just dancing or they did good job of passing it off as dancing. Speaking of passing things off as dancing, the violinist kept marching in place. That was the go-to dance move... to march in place, walk to another part of the stage and march in place over there. When you hear the singer state the he is getting his "dancing mic stand" be prepared for nothing. He throws it towards the ground and uses his feet to get it upright. Over and over and over and over again. It looked more like abuse than it did amusement. It was atrocious. Instead of continuing on with the torture we chose to leave well before the show ended. It's a shame that they charge people that much money for a low budget light show with performers that don't even try. Also, I think the lighting was faulty or not programmed correctly. They kept shining a very bright light directly into the crowd that left me temporarily blinded or seeing spots. For a budget-friendly version for the same experience, get 10-15 toddlers in a room and give them high powered lights and tell them to scream at the top of their lungs. It will be the exact same as going to the concert. read more

Concert in Portland Oregon; it was amazing. We went to the matinee. Sound was excellent, effects super. Absolutely beautiful. I saw TSO in Birminghan, An on Dec 11th and was very disappointed. Too many vocal solos; not enough music. Then I saw TSO in Pittsburgh on Dec 21st and Wow..great show!!! Different performers. The Pittsburgh concert was almost an hour longer and they played far more of their music that I love. I am not a fan of the new storyline at all. The Birmingham narrator was better. The energy in Pittsburgh was electric!! I have only missed TSO 5 years over the last 20 years. Last night reminded me of why I love their show and why I made them my Christmas season tradition. read more

Just saw the first performance of TSO 2025. I can honestly say this is the worst performance I have ever seen in my life. First of all, the sound was in the "dangerous to health level." I covered my ears three minutes in. At 25 minutes in I left. It was not worth hearing loss. It was so loud the female singers stage right were screeching. The long-haired heavy metal rock dudes were painful to listen to. I didn't understand the storyline, something about a young girl abandoned or neglected, maybe a runaway. The video was so fuzzy, I couldn't read the note she held in her hand. The only positive was the black man narrator. He was professional enough to step away from the mic. Unfortunately, his time on stage was limited. The whole thing was jarring, un-Christmaslike, depressing and so NOT worth the $122 I spent for the ticket and $15 for parking. It left me with a horrible doom feeling going into the holiday season. Wish I would have read the other reviews. read more

I have wanted to see this performance for years. Sorry to say I was very disappointed . I went anticipating spectacle. Yes, there were lasers and pyro technics and rock music. All good. I also expected an orchestra rocking out. Nope, it's a band using electronic instruments to sound as if there was an orchestra. There was a narrator that came out between songs to weave the music into a story , but I couldn't follow it. Plenty of slower songs that droned on. And one strange song featured 3 or 4 women center-stage flinging their long hair left then right. That was weird. I wanted to be mesmerized. Blown away! This should be renamed "Sensory Murder Show" or "Nightmare Before Christmas." TSO used to be great BUT I don't know what the heck I just witnessed. It was so loud and the lights, lasers, flashers were a constant assault on my eyes. I actually felt nauseous at one point because of the sensory overload. We couldn't watch the performers without being blinded. The story line made zero sense. I'm sure there was tons of talent there but it was drowned out by all the obnoxious tech that seemed to be arranged by a 13 year old gamer with nothing else to do. It is a yearly family tradition to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra perform. Years ago we found that it is a great way to start our holiday activities and get into the Christmas spirit. I definitely recommend buying tickets early and getting floor seating. The musicians are interactive and very friendly. The concert is loud, long and vibrant. My girlfriend got the whole family tickets to this concert for Christmas, while I am Jewish and celebrate Hanukkah I do have an appreciation for music. I was really looking forward to Orchestra music with a Christmas theme, I know they are known for their Christmas music. I am hard of hearing and as I have gotten older concerts are more and more difficult for me. I took my hearing aids out because the music tends to get garbled wearing them. I was expecting a Orchestra styled concert not a heavy metal band screeching guitar the entire time. My right ear was killing me by the time the show was over. It was so bad I had to turn my hearing aids off and leave them in my ears to protect my ear drum. I do have to agree with many other reviewers on here that the story line was awful and not the best choice. It definitely left me a bit confused. We saw the show in Dallas, TX. I hope to go again one day and actually hear the Orchestra play and enjoy it. It maybe a few years though. read more
