Once in to the narrow entry space, you are kind of bottle necked with the merch tables and then the stage is almost right there -- I wonder if they have ever had a different set up there, it doesn't flow very well -- but anyhow.... I cruised over to the bar and ordered a couple of drinks that were heavily watered down -- should have stuck to beer or shots. The servers were pleasant but not overly helpful basically a bunch of rebels, LOL. The sound inside is fairly decent but perhaps the band couldn't hear themselves so they kept turning up the sound! Luckily they had ear plugs at the bar. Also after standing up for a period of time my old legs were getting tired and also there was a wall of tall people standing in front of me so it was hard to see -- I walked toward the back and there were some tables! Yay! Actually it was easier to see the stage from way back there too and there was an open chair. They have a small patio out the back and you can bring your drinks but they are very strict about only cigg smoking back there -- I saw a couple of ladies getting in trouble for smoking weed -- and then after that the security kept coming out there. They were absolutely right. From the moment the friendly bouncer smiled and said, "Step right on in," I was hooked. Yoooow!! The first DJ was incredible. He was spinning all kinds of trip-hop, indie, electronic, and remix-style tracks that had everybody partyin'. It wasn't your typical dance music, but every song seemed to connect with somebody in the room. The crowd was incredibly diverse, and it was so much fun watching people of every age and style dancing and nobody cared. The second DJ, a younger woman, shifted the vibe a bit and leaned more toward a younger crowd. It wasn't quite my style, so I took that opportunity to grab a seat at the bar and do what I apparently do best... chat with complete strangers. I'm a talker, and thankfully they seemed just as happy to strike up a conversation. This isn't some fancy cocktail lounge, and that's exactly the point. It's authentic. There were people dancing at the bar, grooving in their booths, bouncing in their seats, and filling the dance floor with great energy. I came by myself, and within minutes a cool group of strangers invited me to squeeze into their booth like we'd all come together. That's the kind of place this is. At one point they even offered me a glass of beer from their pitcher. I politely declined (look at me making responsible life choices... sometimes), but then I realized almost everyone had pitchers! So I sauntered over to the bar. I did have to wait a bit; apparently chivalry doesn't extend to letting a woman cut the line, but once I reached the bartender, the service was fast and friendly. Every trip back to the bar was the same. No complaints there. As the night went on, the energy just kept building. Before I knew it, I was on the dance floor sweating, smiling, and dancing with complete strangers. After a while, I had to retreat to the patio just to catch my breath before heading back in for more. My ankles are still sore... and the glutes? Fuhgetabouttit! The best part of the night wasn't the music or even the drinks. It was the people. Every generation was represented. Every fashion style imaginable. Every personality. And somehow it all worked. There was this genuine sense of joy and community that you just don't find everywhere. If you're looking for polished and upscale, this probably isn't your spot. But if you want great music, a welcoming crowd, zero pretension, and one of those nights where you leave happier than you arrived... give Bikini Lounge a shot. I went in not knowing what to expect. I'm so glad that the promoters are using this venue. I don't remember any food or a food truck of any kind. That's cool. The bar staff has always been very kind even if you're just passing by. The bathrooms are at the back. Plenty of space to stand and watch the show. They do have a great sense of ambience. Not just the decor of the venue, but how it's set up. They have these garage doors that can open up. So that's cool if you wanna like hang at the patio but still listen to the band. The patio area is where the merchandise is usually located. Even the people that greeted you and asked you about the usual ID, tickets, etc... I was recently at a venue and the person asking about the tickets or taking the money wasn't exactly nice. Luckily, I knew some of the security, she was totally cool. anyway, aside from the ambience in the venue, the stage has its own. Decent size, great lighting, and they might be using a hazer. The sound has always been impeccable. They have it locked in. There are some bands that I was questioning the mix at other venues, but they seem to have it dialed in, especially with vocals.
