Here's why: Today i had a cut and color appointment with Debbie for the first time and i wanted to take my reddish brown hair and put some chunky cool blonde highlights in, I thought everything was A OK (Loved my cut) but after leaving the salon and looking in a mirror under TRUE SUNLIGHT I realized my ends were ridiculous copper!!!!! Gave her a call she told me to come back and we worked from 600pm till 945 processing the highlights through the terrible orangey phase and i LOVE IT!!!!! I went here for my very first time in June. I had never professionally gotten my hair done before. I wanted something different for my birthday. I requested a black and purple ombre and I must say that it came out fabulous ! Sharon was really nice and picked perfect colors. My only down falls are that I do feel that it's quite expensive but then again it was my first time ever and also the purple was out of my hair two weeks after having it dyed. My stylist has been Mike and he's cut and colored 3 generations of hair in my family- my grandmother/grandfather, my mother, my sister's and mine. I've been seeing mike since 2010 and he's great because he doesn't just cut your hair how you show him in a magazine, he talks you through what would look best with your face shape and hair "attitude". I've put mike through some challenges but he's been a big help from a Mohawk to pixie cuts and lot of other different cuts. Fun guy but don't miss an appointment or else he'll purposely not schedule you for weeks. The shop is always clean and the environment is welcoming and fun. Well I remember the haircut being ok but what made sure I would never come back was when the girl combed my hair in front of my face and nearly ripped my eyebrow ring outta my face( it was a while ago granted). Was in the area and wanted to get layers, and was drawn in by the good reviews. The lady who cut my hair was nice BUT I went in, told her I wanted layers but DID NOT want to take off too much in the length. I had been growing my hair out for MONTHS and liked the length, just wanted to add some life/style. I REPEATEDLY told the older lady to not cut off too much in length. She seemed to understand that then a little over halfway through she explains that she'll need to cut a tiny bit off of the length to trim the ends. I was nervous, but agreed hoping this "professional " would know what she's doing. She kept sighing (warning 1) and clicking her tongue (warning sign 2) a aaand she ended up cutting off about 4-5 inches of hair which took forever to grow. And when she finished she kept saying that if I didn't like it then she'd fix it later for no charge but I was beyond pissed. She was a sweet old lady so I kept my anger silent but I was furious. AND when I went to pay with my card she said they didn't take cards (at all???!!) And asked me to get cash down at 711. I went to the ATM to grab cash and returned but honestly just felt like leaving, and telling an unhappy customer to leave without paying is honestly a stupid move because there is no guarantee they'll come back. So unprofessional. I do not recommend. Don't go, unless you want to go from halfway down your back beautiful hair, to short just below the shoulder length hair (after repeated requests to not take off much in length). read more

Ask for Sherrie... she's amazing. I first started seeing her 13 years ago. She has styled my hair for every Prom, and special dance I've attended. She's great at haircuts as well. A few years ago, she sold her business and transfered to a new salon. I had no idea where she went to. So for years after she left, I've had one bad haircut after another. Finally ran into her again when she was the stylist for my friends wedding. Loved the way she styled my hair that day. Found out she was at Transitions in Pinole. The place is very nice. I had my highlights done by Stephanie (daughter of the owner). It was my first time trying them out but was not satisfied with the result. She colored my hair about 1.5 inches from the roots - I needed my roots covered because of my grays but did not get I'd done right. I've reached out to see if she can fix it but have not heard back at all. $199 for highlight and trim was a total waste of money. read more

Liz is an amazing hairstylist and I have gone to her for about 9 years. Every time I start to get the itch about experimenting with my hair a different way by myself (which doesn't work out quite right...Especially, with color!)...She fixes it and it looks waaaaay better! Believe me when I say, it's been more than 10x's she's rescued me from my biggest mistakes. I LOVE her work and she has a spunky personality which makes my "new-do" experience a lot more fun. When Heather greeted me and said she will be cutting and coloring my hair I automatically canceled my color and agreed to the cut. I should have ran!!! Her color was bad, and she had a tied up nest on her head dressed in sweats. Ultimately, never went back she did a shitty layer job and didn't remove the bulk as I requested. Laurette cut my hair for the 1st time and she was great. My hair had several areas that needed to be corrected and it needed a shaping too. My hair is naturally curly/wavy and has a mind of it's own so a really good cut/shape makes all the difference. The lady I used to see was good but Laurette is better for my hair and the issues I have. She spent a lot of time reshaping it while trying not to take off too much of the length, which I'd asked her not to. She was able to layer it and work with my natural curls. I'm in my mid sixties now and have let my hair go natural now, no more blow drying it straight and no more highlights but I still want my hair to look really good. It's getting too thin to look good very long but with the cut Laurette gave me, I can let it grow out a bit but with layers and it looks great. I highly recommend you give her a try if you're looking for a new stylist. I know she does color too and from what I've seen of her knowlwdge and technique just with a haircut I'd bet she's very good at color too. read more
