I bought led headlights from them. They sucked. Kept telling me they're super bright. Yep against a garage door 10 feet in front of you. Older headlight housings don't cast light down the road very well. Regular bulbs worked better. They did agree to refund my money for the headlights but not the $50 they charged me to put in headlights which only take 10 seconds. Too lazy to put them in myself in colder weather. I noticed recently though they forgot to put back my dust covers for my headlights. Of course they said they were never on. Are you kidding meWhat a bunch of crooks I'm taking this up with my credit card company for the cost of the dust covers plus the $50 to install the lights since they lost my covers. If you still want to buy LED headlights buy them from Amazon. Much cheaper and you can always return them if you aren't happy with them. I'd rather go to All-Guard Audio & Mobile Electronics Inc. They're much better at customer service and know what they're doing. They've been around a long time. Worth the drive for me. read more

Brought my remote start key to be troubleshooted since it wasn't working at my home. Sam said the signal is good but the buttons were going bad. He showed me they all worked (as the car was right outside the shop) and I tested it myself with the same remote right in front of him. Weirdly, remote worked great in the store but gave me problems at home. At this point, I was thinking I just saved some money but he explained to me he could fix the worn buttons with a new remote for $75.00 to which I agreed. I agreed because he troubleshooted the signal and I thought I'd return the favor by providing him with some business. He mentioned he'd be transplanting the pieces of the old remote to a new case with working buttons. He broke that remote stating the lock button no longer works forcing me to either deal with a broken remote or purchasing a new one. A new one cost $135.00. At this point, I'm at his mercy and I ended up buying a new remote. The thing that bothers me is he knew he botched the remote and didn't bother to at least meet me half way with a compromise on a new remote. Knowing I'm already getting a raw deal, I asked if he had a military discount. He mentioned never being asked but approved a 10% discount. I would not do business with Transponder City again and I implore anyone having no choice but to use their services to make sure you know the condition of your devices before giving it to them to fix, then break and blatantly upsell you on a new remote outright. These guys are slick!...be aware of each breakdown of the parts or service u get done here...let me explain So basically came in just looking to get a key for my car fixed. Ok so they give me a price for the destructible vs normal one. Ok good, il take the destructible. Next I think to myself maybe il get another copy just in case I lose one. Ok cool, they give me the price for the copy for the same exact one. The price was more because it needed to be cut and programmed since I only had one key to give them..ok fine. They kept insisting the price was one set price. Then later after I finally agree to that price they tell me it's 20 bucks more for the destructible...now I think to myself (why didn't u tell me that price in the first place?) and say no nevermind Il just have one key fixed and forget the copy. Then as I'm about to get only one key done, he comes back to say ok Il give u the second one for 10 bucks more instead of 20. Then I'm like fine il take it now...at this point I'm getting that sick feeling they are trying to hustle me... Then as I'm paying for the keys he puts just the total price at the bottom of the receipt without the breakdown of each charge and when I see the total it looks somewhat off. So I ask for the breakdown and he adds it with the tax to come up with the final total...but here's the kicker he never actually plugs the breakdown of each price into a calculator in front of me. So I assume everything is added up right.... Now I leave paying the total price (located at the bottom) but as I'm driving away i think twice and look at the receipt again and add it all up myself....sure enough everything added up DID NOT equal the total price. Call them back and tell them the story...sorry is there reply.... Nice hustle attempt guys!...was possibly thinking of doing business with u guys in the future, but not anymore, il take my business elsewhere with an honest company read more

Thinks went wrong a few weeks later, I was told just bring it in. They checked it out. But a new unit in it and I was in and out in 45 min. What I needed was done in a more than timely manner, altho, because I was desperate to have it done I was over charged for it. But not even my biggest complaint. While there waiting for to first hear their bad customer service with one of the employees or owners talking rudely and dismively with a customer over the phone. Explain to me what I ask don't just cop an attitude because Im asking because I don't know or are unsure esp if I drive wayyyy out of my way to support your business. I needed a whole new alarm system for my car was willing to pay $300+ as I bought $500 with me but wanted to see how it would work out with first request. Went in to get a new key cut and programmed for my wife's car. Charged me 65 which was fine, gave the keys to the older man with white hair thought he was going to take key off the ring but walked in the back office and handed the keys to one of the techs. He came out holds the keys up and asks me if I know why the key broke, he said there's to much weight on the key ring and cuts a new key with out ever taking off the old key from the ring. Here a where I have the problem. Two guys from the shop with years of experience (I'm assuming)both had the keys in their hands and didn't realize I had an aftermarket remote start on the key ring failed to program the remote start. Didn't ask if I had a remote start to begin with so I didn't think I needed to mention it. So my wife's car leaves her stranded because the battery died from so many attempts to start from the remote start. I went in thinking theyll take care of it with no charge since they failed to mention about the remote start even after they both saw the remote fob. NOPE!! An extra 45 dollars to reprogram. My issue was that he said I took the original key off the ring and he never saw the remote fob. So that's why he didn't ask if I had remote start. That is a huge lie. Told him his tech even saw it when he explained why the original had broken. I even locked the doors so he need the fob to open the car. He could even go back and check his cameras . I guarantee I didn't take original key off the ring. I would have been a returning customer if he would have handled it differently. I felt that it wasn't my mistake and had to pay for their mistake. To think this was just for a key ,I'd hate to be dealing with this type of service on big ticket items they have available read more

This place is the most unprofessional and discourteous establishment I had been to in recent memory. My time there was a complete waste of my time and resources. I recently purchase a Volvo XC 90 that had only one key with no remote. I was referred to the place by the car dealership that sold me the car. Understanding that this is a imported car with keys difficult to duplicate, I went there and received a quote for $250.00 programing fee for each item programmed which I thought was much to program a remote and then another $250.00 for the remote. I did some research and found a place named Bullis Lock at  4350 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60641 (773-820-7451) that program keys for a fraction of that cost. While there I asked about having an aftermarket radio install and the short older hispanic looking guy there told me what I needed and gave me a quote of $220.00 labor with back up camera included. I purchased items suggested and called the first time 3 days prior to ask about getting radio installed. I was told no problem, Come in when ready. Considering that I work the same hours that they are open M-F, I called early on a Saturday to verify That some one was available to install radio that day. Gut on the phone stressed that they close at 4pm and ask what time I would be there, I told him 1 pm and he stated that I should come on in. When I got thereat 1pm, Guy looked at me like I was crazy and demanded to see if I had all the required parts for install. I retrieved stereo and parts for his inspection. The guy then looked at them and seemed to be thinking up another excuse to have me come back. I patiently waited while he first ignored me and then came back and asked what quote for labor did the short hispanic guy give me. I told him $220.00 and he left for their shop area while i waited another 15 minutes. The guy who gave me the quote originally finally emerged from the back and said hello and abruptly left. The other guy then pulled out a piece of paper drawing some diagrahm stating that the first quote was not good and there would be an additional charge of $120.00 for camera at a minimum due to volvo having a complex stereo system. I explained to guy that was the reason that I purchased the special $200.00 stereo harness his co worker requested. He then goes on to tell me that he did not have time today to install stero even with his souped up labor prices and that I would need to make an appointment. I told him that I had called first and was told to come in. At this point he stated that the short hispanic looking guy had left for the day and he did not have time today. at this point I was both angry and frustrated with this business. This was my second trip which took me a hour to drive to along with the fact that I had my wife follow me to give me a ride back while they worked on car. You should really believe all of the one star reviews for this business. I will never frequent this dump again and if you go there try and pin them down on what they are either lying to you or bullshiting you about. My key fob was not working, i had it at 2 auto parts stores, a mechanic shop and another locksmith. No one was able to fix my issue. I did not have an extra key either, i lost it. I purchased a fob online and needed it programmed. I brought my key fob and my new one to another locksmith who couldn't program my new one or fix the original. That locksmith recommend I go to Transponder City. I called and they were very friendly over the phone. I walked in and met with 2 gentlemen who were very friendly and helpful. They actually looked at my key fob and fixed the battery. All of this running around to find out one part of the battery was not connecting properly. A small piece needed to be slightly bent, that was it!!!! They had my other key fob programmed and connected and I was in and out in 15 minutes, problems solved. A great price and great customer service, which is very hard to find these days. I will be back soon to get my windows tinted when I get my new car. read more

I went to transponder city in Bridgeview today. As my alarm system keeps acting whacko. If I park next to a transformer it won't start and I have to be towed out of the area. At least for now my remote start and antenna were replaced. I'm grateful this place is around. Prices beat going to the installer and dealer. I went in there last year due to my alarm acting funny, they installed a new antenna. Over the course of last summer the antenna fell off, as it wouldn't stick. I went back there, they charged for a new one and re-routed it. When the snow started to melt and it was raining, I all of sudden had water pouring in my car, coming out of my sun visor. The felt is now ruined. I stopped at a glass shop on archer ave on my home from work, it seems when they re-routed my antenna, they dislodged the drain to my sun roof. the glass shop put it back together. As of tuesday this week, my whole electric system shorted out. My truck is still at Ford. I will be stopping in to speak to them to get this rectified. Hopefully they will be honest and cover the costs of the repair,if repairable of my truck. read more

Wow, these guys are great. I had a couple of transponders I got of ebay that I wanted programmed to work with my car. The dealer charges abouts hundred dollars for this, and most locksmiths that can do it charge about fifty dollars. The guys at Transponder City did it without an appointment in under ten minutes and charged me forty bucks. They claim to be able to do remotes and transponder keys for any make and model and I have no reason to doubt it. They had keys in stock for many different makes. When I got there a guy at the front counter name David talked down to me as if I was not aware of the products they were selling. I was having a key programmed and cut. He lie to me and told me my keys were not compatible with my car ( later verified with the car dealer they were compatible). He bad mouthed the internet which is how I found this place. I walked out without having any services done. He could not prove the things he were saying about my keys were true but would not own the statements he was saying when repeating his statements. This company shouldn't have this guy out front. He is chasing business away. I didn't even get to talk about adding a remote starter to my car because of his attitude. This place is such a life saver! I purchased a used Lexus SUV that only came with one key. I found out that the one key was a valet key and not a master. This key only started the car and didn't work locks, turn off alarm, etc. Lexus wanted nearly 500.00 to program a fob key with buttons. They explained how involved this would be. I called Transponder City and they quoted me 185.00 to create one of these keys. I was leery, but they assured me that they do this all the time and guaranteed it would be no problem. Went there with the vehicle. It took only a short while for them to program the key (that they supplied). The key worked everything! Locked/unlocked doors, turned off alarm before entering car, etc. Just can't say enough about them! I highly recommend this place. Out the door for the key and programming was exactly the price quoted 185.00 - WAY less than Lexus. I also received a 90 day warranty. read more
