Delicious! My sister and I ate here on a girls weekend trip to BSL and loved everything we had. We started out with the tuna nachos, she ordered the Shrimp Scampi and I had the Veal Italiano (THE BEST red sauce), for dessert we shared the Dinwiddie Deluxe. Our server Nicole was very friendly. Not a good experience. It was about an hour and 15 minutes after we got there, before we were served. There were maybe 25 people outside and less inside, in a place with surely over 300 capacity. We saw at least 3 other tables that got there significantly later than we did, get their food and 2 finished and left before we were even served. They weren't "busy", but possibly understaffed. When I asked for compensation, the waitress said "nothing she could do". When I demanded a discount, they refused and offered a free dessert, which, since we weren't planing on eating dessert, was a hollow offering. The food was pretty good, but since the experience was already ruined, it affected my perception of enjoyment. I can't recommend. read more

Have been many times in the past,,, but this was our 1st restaurant experience, of any type, since Covid-19. I have to say that we would have been happy with slow service and a mediocre meal, it was just so nice to be waited on and served. But we received great service and a delicious meal. My wife had the veal dish with seafood topping and I had the blackened fish pasta. Both were outstanding. I've been a customer since pre-Katrina and have had some fantastic meals at Trapani's,,, couple with a few mediocre experiences when they were crazy crowded, but last night was exceptional. The atmosphere of this place is euphoric. The back of the building faces the setting sun, so if you sit outside, you won't have the sun in your face. I got the grilled snapper pasta, and I remember that it was AMAZING. The oysters were pretty awesome, too. The house salad was great. Service was amazing. Nic and I were hungry while walking along the coast in Mississippi, while attempting to figure out where to get the best seafood via Yelp on an iphone. This is a great idea when you know where you are but being that we had never eaten at ANY of these places or knew where they were for that matter, I decided to ask some local Mississippians. Gosh, were they happy to come to the rescue of some poor Minnesotans (Mississippians love us btw, they are surprised by how much cold we can handle). Instantly they assumed we wanted seafood, which, yes, why not, the ocean is 2 feet away. The 3 we asked actually had all just met each other and all instantly said, "if you want the best seafood, and we mean the BEST, you have got to check out Trapani's." Three strangers, all agreeing? That's a no brainer. They warned us about the steeper price, but they said it doesn't matter, it's worth it, and we set out to find this magical restaurant. AMAZING seafood, I know I usually eat veggie, but when I'm sitting on the ocean and the owner is the fisherman that not only parties at night ( picked him out in an instant) but catches most of what is served, how can I not eat it? Sustainable food is also an important aspect of my chosen diet! It was busy, which didn't bug us coming from the big city, but I guess it must have been for some local Waveland residents. We were handed a light up wait device (What are those even called?) and told it would be about 20 minutes, and that we were more than welcomed to go upstairs to the casual bar. Oh yeah, it's two levels, the bottom being more 'formal' dining, and the rowdy bar above. The bar was hoppin' and I had a blast people watching! They have a full bar with a few snacks, which we didn't get because we wanted to save room for the real meal. But i liked that the bar didn't offer anything on the regular menu. We got seated about 20 minutes later (good timing skills!) While the service was a bit on the slow side, I'm gonna let it slide because it was busy and we were told they had to 'shuck more oysters" which I guess takes sometime. Anyways, we were met right away and we ordered the Seafood Steamer, which started with a salad (which the chef split into two normal sized salads, awesome!) with the homemade blue cheese dressing, which was some of the best dressing I've ever had in my life! Next, which was the LONG wait, came the steamer which consisted of a pound of Red Shrimp (look these guys up, you'll then know why they are SO GOOD, they are almost like Lobsters), 12 cooked oysters, cheesy and beautiful, 2 Snow Crab halves (I know, not local, but still amazing) and some corn on the cob (Us Minnesotans don't get this all the time!) It was amazing, the best seafood I've had and all for $75, which we thought was a very good price. If we ever make it back to the area, this will definitely be on the list! read more

I was in town for a golf tournament and a group of 12 guys went to the restaurant one evening. I had the stuffed flounder and loved it. It was a great festive atmosphere and everything a gulf side restaurant should be. All 12 of us loved our dinners and the servers couldn't be more pleasant. The woman that I believe is the owner came by as well and told me the story of the destruction the restaurant faced after Katrina and what it took to rebuild. Only to be hit by BP spill. SHe loves her town and takes pride in the food they prepare. Ask to meet her if you get a chance! If you are heading to the water this is where you should go! This was one of the worst places I've ever eaten! Placed order for appetizers and entrees. Waitress came out 10 minutes later to let us know they were out of an appetizer and entree. Ordered fried green tomatoes. Menu said with crabmeat. Appetizer came out 20 minutes lasted with no crabmeat. Waitress said "that's extra". After we showed her the menu with crabmeat she brought out a small container of crabmeat on the side! Had to track someone down for drink refills. Ordered seafood platter. Shrimp were rubbery, fish had no taste (was not catfish as advertised), oysters were coated with so much batter you couldn't taste the oysters. The only thing edible was the fries. Avoid this restaurant. Overpriced food with bad service. Hostess was not the nicest and came across as annoyed and didn't want to be there. The restrooms are by the kitchen and food pick up window. I waited on line for the restroom and watched how food just sat in the window getting cold. Waited for 2 people to go in and out of the restroom and when I got out the food was still there in the window. I also had a waitress ask for me to tuck a bottle of ketchup in her arm to run her own food. I saw a local lean into the kitchen window over everyone's food and ask if her friend was working that night. Not sanitary one bit, especially during Covid. Yup my food came out overcooked and cold. No one asked how my food was. Never saw a manager helping out running food or checking on customers. Both our fish dishes dried out and cold. Pasta was over cooked and clumpy. The only good restaurant on the water in that area is Baccus on The beach in Christian Pass. Great burger grind with filet, Monday night pork chop special to die for and great service.... don't waste your time and money on this poorly managed restaurant that doesn't care about customer service and food quality. read more

We stopped at this restaurant on the way back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from New Orleans. Hubby ordered a cheeseburger, which was cooked properly, but was bland. I ordered the steamer combo. Shame on me for not asking the price, which was listed as "market." If I had, I would have realized that there was enough food on the platter for two or three people. On the day of our visit, the cost was $68. The huge platter was delivered to me, and the server quickly rushed off, leaving me with one paper napkin to eat a lot of messy seafood. I also was not provided with a cracker for the crab claws. I had to wait at least 10 minutes until we could finally get a server's attention to ask for more napkins and a cracker. And then, I waited at least five more minutes to actually receive the requested items. The char-grilled oysters were hot. Everything else on the platter was literally just above room temperature. I did not send it back because everything takes so long here, but I would be embarrassed as a restaurant owner to serve lukewarm seafood boils. The temperature of the food certainly lessened my enjoyment of the meal. The flavor was fine. It is kind of hard to screw up a seafood boil. They definitely need to improve service. Servers are friendly, but keep guests waiting too long, and go for long periods of time without checking on guests. read more

I want to love this place - I've been here twice. I've sat upstairs both times. The service wasn't very good, and the food is way overpriced. The 'royal reds' were a real disappointment -- so small I'm not sure we even got the real thing. An example of the bad service: we didn't get cocktail sauce until our shrimp were gone (about 15 mintues after we got the shrimp) becuase our waitress told us they were out and shed's have to go downstairs to get some. Took a trip up the Mississippi Coast and decided to give this restaurant a try. Not very busy and plenty of staff...but mostly standing around. After going upstairs, we figured out menu was not the same as first floor. We had a great server who entertained us with his story about surviving Katrina. Other servers were less than friendly and we noticed two even arguing about who would serve the tables outside. Very entertaining from a people watching standpoint...but not the kind of employees I'd want at my restaurant! Food arrived promptly, but no utensils, and food was actually very tasty and a good value. All in all...an interesting experience. I had a wonderful experience last night at Trapani's Eatery. We sat upstairs out on the Bar Patio and sampled their delicious appetizers. Their crawfish étouffée and charbroiled oysters were outstanding. The outside Bar Patio has a fireplace and the view of the Bay at sunset is beautiful. I loved how the restaurant is near the water. Beautiful view but terrible food. We ordered the spinach dip and it came with fried bow tie pasta, crawfish ettoufee, and the little palm salad. Everything was bland. The Palm salad had shrimp and watermelon soaked in a pool of diluted soy sauce and fried tortilla chips. I was not a fan of the restaurant but service was good. My Cousin & I ate here this evening. Our server was not very friendly nor knowledgeable to the menu. He did not offer us the special of the evening, which we heard another server off his table. There was a lemon on my dr pepper i ordered. we had to wait a good 10 mins to get staws as well as order apps and entree's. I got 1/2 dz oysters and had to wait about 10+ mins for horseradish and hot sauce. He got the crab cakes which were a 2 small cakes, very small for the price. After we finished our apps he didnt clear our table the hostess did. it was prob another 10 mins before he came back to finally take our order. I had question about the sauces hollandaise and bordelaise, already knowing what they are having 7yrs of fine dining cooking experience. he had to ask the kitchen about the hollandaise. the pasta bordelaise was suppose to be garlic butter cheese. he took the order then about 8-10 mins later i got my salad then about 15mins after our entrees. I got the fish eatery which was pan sauteed breaded flounder with a mushroom shrimp sauce, the shrimp were tiny with very little flavor as well as the mushrooms lacked flavor. the fish didn taste like it was seasoned at all, all i tasted was the breadcrumps. the fish was soggy from all the sauce. the supposed pasta bordelaise had no flavor at all, barely even a butter taste def no cheese or garlic. He got the crawfish etouffee, which was really bland and had creamy butter taste as most etouffee's have in our area. we finally asked for the checks we asked for them to be split. He had to redo the tickets twice on the 2nd time he got my cousins right but not mine so finally on the 3rd time i got my check. Definitely hope a manager or supervisor reads these reviews because it was a huge disappointment. read more

My fiancée and I are in town from Buffalo, NY for a wedding and were looking for someplace downtown for a local food experience. We initially planned to go to one of the bars across the street but found the menu lacking so we were drawn by the advertisement of the best po'boys at Trapani's. What a delightful experience. Not at all busy and we were seated promptly. The atmosphere is really nice and the whole place was very neat and clean. Our server was wonderful (I think her name was Amber but I'm not sure). I got the fried catfish po'boy and my fiancée got the fried oyster one. Food came out quickly but was hot, fresh and delicious. We both just got the 4" po'boy and they were overstuffed, as pictured below. Fresh bread, fresh seafood, great atmosphere and service.
